An educator from The Parlour reached out to me and graciously invited me back to fix my hair. She reassured me that this was not the way they would send clients out the door and would use my experience as way to re-educate the staff not only about what happened with my hair, but also about pricing transparency. From the moment I walked in, she discussed my hair goals, looked at my hair and what went wrong, and got to work on fixing it. She was attentive, professional, and was open with me from start to finish about what she was doing, what products she was using, and what each product achieved. During the processing times, I had expressed how I had difficulty stretching out washes as my scalp and hair gets oily so quickly. She not only demonstrated how to use dry shampoo on her own hair (in case there was something I wasn't doing quite right, doing enough sections, or using enough product), and catered the shampoo for my oily hair type. She also walked through my hair care routine with me, and identified that my double shampooing could have been the reason why my hair was getting oily so quickly. When I went home, I switched to a clarifying shampoo, used more shampoo but only do one wash, and used more dry shampoo than I normally would. With these tips, I have been able to stretch my washing from 3 days to 6 days! The reason why I mention this is not only the attentiveness to my hair needs, but I also walked out that day knowing how to tweak my routine to making it work better for me. In the end, I left knowing more than I walked in with, and that to me is invaluable. I appreciate that she spent the time and went above and beyond for me, and for that, I walked out with knowledge I will use forever. The best part in all of this was, I finally left with the hair of my dreams. My hair was just what I asked- lighter but blended. I had a big work meeting later that week, and my coworkers had noticed how good my hair looked and I got so many complements on it. Booked my appointment got a confirmation my appointment was booked showed up to appointment to be told my appointment was canceled by Carissa because her client before my service was more important then mine, and mine had to be cancled because she did not have enough time to do my hair. What a unprofessional place this is. No phone call to let me know she could not do my hair or accomodate my appointment nothing. I drove all the way down 45 minutes to this appointment to be told it was cancelled. No good moral and values of any kind. This is to all of my curly hair folks out there. If you're like me you've had your fair share of horrible, mullet resembling hair cuts by people who don't know how to cut curly hair, making every hair cut dreadful or even nonexistant. THE SEARCH IS OVER. Sydney is by far the best hair cut I have had in a long time. The curls lay where they are supposed to lay and the volume is even from the roots to the ends. 2. Going from dark hair to light brown with blonde can be a very interesting experience. Some stylist may complete fry your hair or turn it a nice shade of orange... THAT IS NOT THE CASE. Sydney was able to tone my orange tint and give me blonde highlights throughout the ends. She did an amazing job getting those stubborn blondes to pop through without frying my hair. Finally have healthy blonde highlights! 3. Last but not least... Sydney has such a passion for her job and making you feel beautiful. She legitimately cares. Normally going into an appointment with pictures you have researched to give the stylist an idea of what you want your hair to look like. My worst haircut experience since being in Denver. Told the stylist exactly what I wanted with a picture and ended up with something awful and totally different. It was the last appointment of the day, stylist asked how to fix it, then made it worse by creating a super blunt layer. When I was leaving (after paying full price, plus tip, and tearing up) I slipped and fell in some product that spilled on the floor. I honestly don't even want to go back to have someone else fix it. One looked at me with a straight face and charged $65 for a men's cut (w/o tip)! Thank god the wife booked it, otherwise she probably would have thought i got a handie with the cut. Classed up Chains Tried the big rock and roll place on Broadway... For me, social skills are an important part of the deal. The conversation was non-existent and the hair cut was bad. Low End Chain I was in desperate need of a haircut the day before some execs at my company were coming to town. Stopped by a Cherry Creek chain... literally got the worst haircut of all time. Let me first begin by stating that I've had issues with stylists in the past. No joke: one stylist managed to murder half of one of my eyebrows once, which was hella cute, especially since TO THIS DAY, I HAVE NO IDEA HOW IT HAPPENED, but I digress... Best. Haircut and color. I have ever received. In. My. Life! Madeleine is extremely attentive, hilarious, and highly talented at what she does. I feel entirely comfortable letting her take the reins and make creative decisions because I know I will leave looking amazing. In addition, the number of compliments I received were astronomical. Moreover, not only is it extremely easy to book appointments and contact the salon, but they also text you repeatedly to remind you of your upcoming appointments. They always offer clients a drink (coffee, tea, water, wine, etc) and have plenty of fresh magazines to flip through in the waiting area. I came to The Parlour at West Wash Park and was assigned to April and I will not go anywhere else. April is amazing - she offers great style consultation about what would look good with my face shape and teaches me how to style my 'do. Since moving to Denver, I tried several different salons, and each time there was just a little something off. I would flee back to my out-of-town stylist, and she would say, "Oh, did you know your hair isn't cut straight across the back?" With my fine, straight hair, a mistake or mediocre job can be easy to spot. Finally, I came to the Parlour! I called and easily got scheduled for a same-day appointment. The staff was very friendly, but (lest you readers worry) it wasn't like an interview about my life. I could sit back. My favorite thing about the place is the initial consultation, where I felt like my requests were really being heard and, at the same time, the response was incredibly useful. I like a stylist who can help me out / tell it like it is if I'm not sure about a particular decision. My lady took what I asked for, gave me a few options and suggestions, and we went from there. I purchased a Groupon for a $32 cut and conditioning mask and it was definitely good value for that price. I'm not sure I would come back and pay full price for a condition & cut. The deep conditioning mask was not as long-lasting (my hair felt supersoft after the cut, but went back to feeling dry and frizzy the next day) as I'm used to getting at an Aveda salon, but was still nice. I actually did not even know that I got the mask until she told me after as it took around the same amount of time as a standard wash and condition that I've gotten with other haircuts. I got a very serviceable trim that is neither out of this world or disappointing in any way. I appreciated the small touches of a drink offered when checking in and was happy that they offered sparkling water. Tip: the parking lot is absolutely tiny and they have signs that neighboring lots will tow you - so make sure not to waste time parking in a next door lot and having to go and move your car. read more

I saw there was a Groupon available here and after reading the great reviews I called and scheduled an appointment. I let them know over the phone that I had the Groupon and they told me only 2 people working that day accepted them. They were able to give me an appointment with Ashley just a few hours later that same day. The salon itself is nicely designed and minimal. The front desk staff is very nice and personable. I loved how Ashley asked a lot of specific questions to make sure she was giving me the cut that I wanted. I was blown away with the service. I have never purchased a Groupon for a salon due to hearing/reading tons of horror stories how people get treated as if they aren't a paying customer. I can assure you this is not an issue here. Ashley was engaged with me the entire time and I didn't even have to lift a finger when it came to magazines or a drink. I really love my hair cut and it is exactly what I requested. I completely forgot to get cash out for a tip however the salon can take a card to tip with even if you had the Groupon. Overall this was a really really positive experience. I wish I wasn't from out of state because I would most definitely come back! The only con to this location was the parking. Being from out of state I didn't anticipate their parking lot to be so tiny and have to park on the street. I can't believe no one has written about this location yet?... Is it brand new? I came here on a recommendation, and it was a lovely place to spoil myself. You're offered a cookie (bomb. ass. cookies) and a drink while you wait for your stylist to come available, so I got to sit and read trashy magazines and drink hot chocolate while the sun streamed in on a store full of hip, stylish twenty/thirtysomethings. The haircut, you say? Jury is still out. I asked for flirty, romantic, professional, and somewhere in there I ended up with a very solid hipster mullet that slides into the danger zone of Iron Range, Minnesota, circa 1983 if I'm not careful about the way I let it dry. But! It can be super cute on some days, so I haven't gone back to get it fixed. Sometimes it's so bad in the mornings that it makes me giggle at the mirror- like, lady truck driver bad. Any haircut that can make you laugh at 7am should get four stars, right? Right. PS. I needed a new place to go get my hair done. The Parlour downtown was just annoying so after driving by the location I decided to suck it up and make an appointment. {I HATE having to get my hair colored every six weeks. it pains me to hand over the money but if I don't I'm sure I'd look like a grandma sooner than later. ugh} I scored an appointment at 9:00 on Saturday and I'm glad I showed up a little earlier. The parking lot was packed (yet the salon wasn't) which really irritated me. I gave up the downtown location because parking was annoying. I drove around for 10 minutes trying to find a spot on the street. Once inside the salon I met Adrienne and we got down to work. She was great. Super friendly, helped me figure out my hair situation and was just genuinely nice. I scheduled an appointment when I was done to go back and I never do that. The one thing that I don't understand is how different things were between here and downtown. (I like this location WAY more!) Adrienne put something in my hair to stop the color processing, left it on for a few minutes and then conditioned it but no shampoo (which is great.) I feel like I left out a step too...who knows. Downtown it was a quick wash and condition. You'd think that as a chain they would do things the same? I'm happy I came here and it would probably have 5 stars but the parking really bothered me. Luckily enough, Ashley honored the price, which was super nice! I hate the idea of going somewhere new and paying a ton for a haircut from someone I don't know or trust with my hair, so this was perfect. (I just moved to Denver a month ago.) I also hate the idea of going to a salon that specializes in curly hair, because they also always specialize in charging you ridiculous prices for a haircut. She asked all the right questions about my pre-wedding hair needs and then when I went in recently she helped me achieve what might be the best hair cut of my life.
