Stayed in the Best Western Sands Hotel and visited the Park Pub for breakfast. So much food!! We thought the prices were high until we converted from Canadian dollars to US dollars and the price for the amount of food we were given was amazing. We took half back to the room for a snack later. We were invited to their happy hour from 3:00 to 5:00 and they have some of the lowest prices in this very eclectic part of downtown Vancouver. I enjoyed the chicken and waffles! Two tender chicken breasts served on fluffy waffles with syrup on the side which I appreciate. My travel companion had the Park omelette which overflowed the platter. The omelette had the "kitchen sink." Also served with fresh fruit, bread and potatoes. Delicious potatoes. Happy hour was great 25 craft beers and every thing else. Lots of food choices for $6-10 CA. Stop here. The bartender, Colin, was great! Awesome sense of humor. Highly recommended. Returned for Happy Hour. Best prices in area. Delicious poutine. We've been looking for a local pub with great food and a friendly ambiance, and I'm delighted to have found this place. Such a great pub food menu it was hard to choose, and then it was impossible to choose a favorite. We had: Nachos (with no beans). The half-order was huge! They were carefully layered with lots of cheese and jalapenos, and served with generous sides of sour cream and salsa. Cheese fingers with tomato soup. These were actually four slices of a delicious grilled cheese sandwich, filled with a variety of cheeses that worked well together, melted onto perfectly grilled sourdough. Yorkshire pudding filled with braised beef. What a creative dish! The beef was so succulent! Service was friendly, and there are lots of screens for sports fans. Highly recommended. read more

It has been a while since we've been to The Park Pub. The menu is better value than most other restaurants in the area and Food and service are still good. Portions are good too. They still have DJ music and dancing on weekends and we intend to come back for music and dancing on another night. read more

I stopped in for breakfast on a Sunday morning. The pub wasn't very busy and I was seated immediately by the hostess. My server took my order quickly, my food came out in good time. But this is where the service stopped. My server never returned to my table to quality check my breakfast or offer me more coffee or drinks (despite an empty coffee mug and champagne flute sitting on my table for over 20 min). A different staff member finally came by to refill my coffee. When I finished my meal, my original server eventually came by to collect payment. I'm sure this pub is good if you're coming in for a drink and to watch the game, but I would skip it if you're looking to dine. The service definitely needs improvement! read more

On Tuesdays, The Park Pub has a deal where their tacos are $2.50 each so my friends and I decided to try them out for lunch. We were seated at a corner booth in front of a huge projector that had baseball on. If I liked baseball it would have been a plus for me. They had video poker, scratch tickets, and lottery ticket machines by our table as well. I don't gamble or it would have been a plus for me as well. The dining area was a lot noisier than it was last time, and I had to shout to make conversation with my friends. A lot of the noise came from outside because their windows were wide open to the noise pollution outside. They had pretty loud old school pop music playing in the background as well. Service staff was good. The server who served us was personable, nice, and talkative throughout our dining experience. I ordered The Park Burger for $15 which includes thickly cut wedge fries and a burger with tomatoes, lettuce, bacon, angus beef patty, a slice of cheese, onions, chipotle aioli sauce and a slice of pickle on top. The burger was fantastic! The angus beef was cooked perfectly. The edges of the patty were slightly crisp which I liked. The bacon was slightly crispy too and made a great addition to the overall taste of the burger. The lettuce, onions, pickle, and tomatoes were fresh and rounded it out well. The melted cheddar cheese was a good addition too since I love cheeseburgers. My friend tried a bit of my burger and they said they liked it more than the tacos we ordered. The potato wedges were cooked well and slightly crispy. The fries and burgers were oily but not overly oily. I really liked their fries! I used them to dip into ketchup and dipped others in mayo and they tasted even better. The tacos on the other hand were alright at best, just borderline mediocre. The tacos are pretty simple and could have been a little bigger. We ordered many beef and chicken tacos (at least 10) and we all agreed that the beef tacos were much tastier than the chicken tacos. The chicken tacos gave an almost flavorless chewy texture to the tacos so we regret ordering them. The beef tacos were actually kinda tasty and really not bad at all. There are better options downtown where taco Tuesdays occur with bigger and tastier tacos so better pass on The Park if you just come for the taco special. One thing that irks me is that you cannot use discounted e-gift cards on special priced foods such as taco tuesdays. I went to another restaurant with a similar discounted gift card and they rung it through no problem in combination with their special priced items. At the end, the staff at The Park Pub let us use a gift card on just the burger since it was regular priced. So minus 1 star for that. I just think it's a weird rule. Another thing that irked me a little is that the server offered mayo for my fries but failed to mention there's a 50 cent charge on it. I didn't notice until much later looking at the bill. Of course, 50 cents is nothing but I'd appreciate it if they at least mentioned it! TL;DR Overall, just based on the food, I give it 4 stars because of their awesome "The Park" burger and their tacos aren't bad at all. The beef tacos were tasty and I feel I got my money's worth at $2.50 each even though there are better options out there. I recommend you just order the beef tacos and pass on the chicken unless you really love chicken tacos. read more

Went to the Park for the first time in about three or four years, and certainly for the first time post Covid. Went to watch football which was great since unbeknownst to me they have converted what used to be a driveway in between their two main buildings into outdoor seating with a great space for playing pool and watching sports. I've always liked the Park because of its great staff, good food, and specials. It has a rather older and unique but enthusiastic crowd that is very fun and welcoming. By no means is the Park a divey place. In fact I like the dark brown wood motif as well as the lighting, and have always found it very clean. Yes, the staff are great. They are laid-back but very professional, attentive, and friendly. I usually leave a good tip here. Again, the outdoor space is really cool and I'm sure we'll go back. read more

Hands down, the best place to come for watching the game, as well as karaoke, in the West End. This place seats big groups and has multiple TVs and big screens to watch the game from multiple angles! I came for karaoke (Tuesday nights) but got the tail end of the Canucks game! Had an amazing time! The locals are chatty and super friendly, as well as the staff. Will, the bartender, is very accommodating and gives thanks to everyone he serves. He even remembers peoples order. Dalton is also amazing. He is always cheery and gives great service. The Park has exceptional food and drink deals. The food is really good and they provide GF and vegan options! It's a nice treat for a bar! Must visit place in the west end! read more

One of the most underrated places in general out there are hotel restaurants. Not sure why people don't seem to know about them, but personally I find that the best food deals are often found in these places. This would be a prime example. Parking is available along the side streets. Best to come later in the evening, when many spots free up. The inside looks about 1990s, and is nothing too spectacular. It looks like many other hotel restaurants to be honest. Staff are friendly and chatty. What makes this place so special? $16 AYCE ribs on Sundays. Yes, all the pig one can shove into one's pie-hole. Or should it be rib-hole? So there are 3 caveats for this offer: 1. Drink must be purchased. They have $12 pitchers here, so this is easily taken care of. 2. There's a side dish that must be finished at least once. It's mostly mashed potatoes and some vegetables. Honestly this wasn't much of a problem. Vegetables are healthy. 3. The ribs only come in one flavour. Not too big of a deal until one is a few racks in. Then they don't taste too good anymore. In any case, my friends and I demolished several pigs (and some potatos and vegetables) with great prejudice and reckless abandon. Some places start to "run out of food" when one eats past a certain amount, but this place sure didn't, which is really nice. We definitely got our money's worth. Friends invited me out to the Park on Friday night. I hate hotel bars, even when I'm travelling but I'm trying to be more social after losing my father this fall and I really like these friends. Come they said. $4 burgers and drink specials. I said okay, as long as we go early! I've kind of stopped drinking but had a couple of ciders and I think every drink was on special. Our waiter was fantastic and he was super helpful and really attentive. So it was burger time! Who knew? I was expecting McDonalds burgers. No my friends said. Let's go to the grill. Went to see the grill master - again super friendly and he informed us that they even have veggie burgers and another friend with us gave them the thumbs up! So you go prep your burger first - traditional fixings - mustard mayo ketchup relish and heaps of tomatoes and lettuce. I got a huge piece of lettuce and covered it in tomatoes and chipotle mayo as I'm trying not to eat bread right now. My burger cane covered in onions, bacon and cheese. So good! I swear two people could split one and be satisfied. We also ordered a Caesar salad. However it was a bit bland. Oddly the next day a friend wanted to go out for drinks and I suggested the Park. Could it be good two days in a row? Instead of packed it was pretty quiet which was nice. One large table of ladies and some film people beside us. Big screen sports but again service was fast and friendly and we split the nachos which were surprisingly good (I had a cheat day) I will go back. Probably on a Friday. Rats in food storage area - ok Dogs waiting in not in use patio - bad A waitress asked me to not have my dog in the patio area because at some point later that day the could be food served there. So, I moved rather than argue with the stupid. 5 min later I heard the same woman scream because a rat ran over her foot in the food storage room. She complained about all the rats loudly. Came here for a Christmas lunch as it was one of the few downtown restaurants open on Christmas Day. The food was quite a disaster. First of all, our dishes came out cold and missing key ingredients (notably, cranberry sauce). I hate sending food back. Usually I just let minor issues/mistakes slide, but in this instance, the initial bites of cold food tasted really terrible - I simply couldn't eat any more of it. I asked the server, were the turkey and mashed potatoes actually supposed to be cold? Our server was apologetic - he said no, definitely not! He promised to bring us new plates of hot food. The plates that came back soon after were hot, but clearly not new - messy mashed potatoes (originally: in a scooped ball) & overcooked veggies (simply reheated, I guess). I felt so bad to bother our kind server again, but we definitely didn't want to eat overcooked reheated food! At this point, our server was feeling very sorry for all the kitchen faux pas, so he actually waited there and made sure to grab 2 freshly prepared turkey dinner plates for us. The food that arrived the 3rd and final time was hot and palatable. Taste-wise, the turkey meat was rough and the veggies were bland. The mashed potatoes were decent though. The French Onion soup appetizer we had at the beginning was reasonably tasty. I wanted to give this place a 1-star, but the good service deserves an additional star. Came in today at about 2 pm with my husband for lunch and ordered the thai green curry and a beyond meat burger. The food was good. We enjoyed it. The review though is mainly for the phenominal service we recieved. Two gentlemen served us through out our visit and both were very friendly and attentive. We didn't wait long for anything. I went to this place with a friend of mine for Happy Hours. I went to this place once a few years ago, but Covid involved, they have a great setup to due with the issue. On that day, we were served at a table near the patio. We ordered a few beer and the Nachos with beef. The Nacho was great. It was huge in portion and definitely a share dish to have with my friend. The beef was a bit spicy but it was a pair with the cheesy Nachos. Overall, I have a great experience with tentative servers. I would recommend this place for night of hockey/basketball dinner. read more

Well, we have been sitting here for 15 minutes now and we have been ignored by the staff, and yes, I have made eye contact with several of them. We are staying here in the hotel.... No wait, they just walked up and took our order. My wife overheard the staff just asking where another person is, they quit was the reply. So, while I'm sitting here we will continue this review and see how the food is... Please standby..... Well, I was set to slam this establishment but the food is excellent! I raised the rating to 3 from 1 due to poor management upon an employee quitting and a filthy table that was bad when we walked in and stayed that way. However the food is worth coming back for. I ordered the shepherds pie. Being British by birth I expected a Shepherds Pie. What I recieved is what is what the cooking network calls 'deconstructed'. The flavors though were spot on! The gravy was thick like it should be. The potatoes were a combination of some kind of sweet russet and the green beans were crisp and sweet. The meat, tender morsels. We also had the mac and cheese and the taco trio. Apparently, the taco trio had some heat to it. My son really liked the fries but felt the mac and cheese was more like noodles in hot milk. We were able to charge to our room with no problem and the lady who served us was very kind and sweet, so, what started as a disaster ended on a semi high note. read more

Everyone is super nice and will chat to you about anything you want from football, golf or even the bachelor ;) With the staff being so nice this rubs off onto the patrons, you can end up chatting with random people for hours.. The service started great, we were promptly seated by very friendly staff. Our order was taken and then crickets... we waited and waited and never saw our waitress again. After about 35 minutes, someone else brought our food out. It clearly had been sitting under a heat lamp for a very long time - the pickle was warm and shriveled. 2.2 Stars Once again dealing with downtown Vancouver parking. There is limited meter street parking on Davie street. Very limited street parking around the residential area as well, which is all pay parking as well now. We a reservation for 2 at 7:00pm on a Saturday night. The table was ready as soon as we walked in. First impressions, it had a pub/bar vibe. Lot of tv's playing a couple different sport channels on them. Chairs were worn out, cracking and ripping. We came here for dine out Vancouver $20 menu. Ordered: Bacon Cheese Meatballs with Spicy Tomato Sauce - 4 meatballs, good flavour and texture. West Coast Crab Cakes with Avocado Mash, Mango Salsa & Lemon Aioli - 2 small pieces, not the best I've had, lemon aioli was a good sauce. Pan Fried Portobello Mushroom Ravioli with Roasted Red Pepper Aioli, Tomatoes, Spinach & Freshly Ground Parmesan - small portion, good flavour. Sous-Vide Moroccan Lamb Chops with House-Made Pesto Gnocchi, Grilled Seasonal Tree Fruit & Minted Demi Glaze - lamb chops were cooked well. Grilled seasonal tree fruit consisted of 3 thin apple slices. Gnocchi would have been better if they were pan fried after boiled. Chocolate Volcano Cake - Server let us know that they sold out of the volcano cake, because they weren't expecting it to be that popular. Regular chocolate cake as a replacement. Strawberry Trifle - made in a big mason jar. Very good dessert. Service was lacking to say the least. After we were seated, it took over 5 minutes before our server brought us some waters and asked if we were ready to order at the same time. Our sever was friendly when he came around. The food took awhile to come out. After the appetizers, there was another long delay before the mains came out. The server did apologize and said the kitchen was backed up. After dessert he disappeared again when we just wanted the bill. We also only got our waters refilled one time throughout the night. They seated our table of seven just outside their kitchen and then ignored us. :/ Then they had a menu shortage and didn't give our group either of the two drink menus nor ask anyone if they wish a drink for at least 20 minutes.... Offering two appies for $12 they also had a slight reduction on some beer. I went for a double order of wings, honey garlic and Caribbean Jerk. Other than the bar, The Park is almost completely unrecognizable from its previous look, Checkers. It's very dark in decor and because the lights are turned down way low, it feels moody. It was completely empty when we went on a weekend night, which is very surprising because all the other times I've been here, it's been busy and full of life. Karaoke is down to only two days a week. I can't help but think they lost a lot of their identity of a divey hotel bar -- and its regulars -- with this drastic upgrade, which is why I knocked it down a star. They have added a ton of new menu items. I had the pulled pork poutine and it was AMAZING, although the cheese on top are not curds, and the fries are shoestring. But the glaze is a Jack Daniels BBQ and, combined with the pulled pork, was really flavorful. read more

I've been trying to come here for 3 Sundays for the all you can eat ribs but kept missing the times it was available. (Sunday from 5-9 there is an all you can eat rib special.) When I finally came here, I was not disappointed. The ribs were juicy, moist and yummy! I couldn't believe that it was all you could eat ribs! The first plate came with asparagus, carrots and mashed potatoes and the other ribs came a half slab at a time. And wow these ribs were so good. As I write this I'm drooling for them. Had their house lager which was a pretty smooth beer. Nothing beats all you can eat ribs and a nice lager. I really enjoy the last - Friday - of - the - month trivia night (starts around 9pm). Arrive by 7:15pm to get a table if you don't have a reso. Ideally, make a reso. Service is friendly but some of the servers are hit and miss. For example, 3 out of 4 times I've been there our server was fab and completely amazing (same lady each time - sandy blond with a black blazer). Most recent time though a different server mixed up food orders and types of beer on her tray (not the same server as before). The bar tender was cool about remedying the drinks immediately, but the server was less apologetic than ideal about it all. When I was here on the last Friday of March the table all agreed that the beers all tasted a tad off. Still tasty but maybe the lines needed a quick cleaning. Regardless, so happy they had Farmhand Ale. Noticed that in the past two months their food and food presentation has really stepped up. I really enjoyed my lamb burger, the house burger was very good, and the standout was the buttermilk fried chicken with grilled veggies & mashed potatoes. Went here last night as part of the Evo summer cinema dinner and a movie series. It's a great deal where you get a VIP seat for the show and choose from a number of restaurants for a prixe fix meal. The positives; The evening bartender did his very best and always kept our wine and water glasses full. The room is quite charming and it was lively for a Tuesday. They had a $2 taco special which seemed popular. All in all, the service was soooo slow (the time to get food) - they were switching from day to night so it was a bit chaotic with the staff, and like so many places in Vancouver, I suspect they struggle with staffing. We ordered a bottle of wine which created a lot of work and confusion. The young woman behind the bar clearly didn't know anything about wine - they actually had a decent selection at reasonable prices considering it's a pub with a focus on craft beer. She went to the "wine fridge" and looked through every single bottle to try and find the one we ordered, came back and said they didn't have it. I'd already picked out a second choice (Poplar Grove pinot gris but she kept calling it Popular Grove....). She then came back with the bottle we initially ordered. Now, the "wine fridge" isn't actually anything but a cabinet so it had to sit on ice for twenty minutes to chill down (that was fine as our bartender got us a glass of wine while we waited). It took close to an hour for our appetizers - a burrata beet salad with pecans, and tempura green beans. Expectations were not high here - aside from bar food and tacos, didn't see anyone really eating either. This "burrata" was some sort of tasteless weird cheese with a spongey texture. I've had a lot of different versions of it from different parts of the world, but no idea what this was. Salad didn't have the nuts as described which would have added some texture. Beets were fine. Green beans were fine - the only thing they have in common with tempura is that they had been deep fried. It then took almost another hour to get our mains: Sockeye salmon Thai curry The salmon wasn't fresh, overcooked as were the carrots. The broccoli was cooked perfectly. The thai curry was decently flavoured. By that point we didn't have time for dessert, and had a special coffee and left. A great deal isn't much use if you can't don't eat most of the food :-) Having said that, again, we did get great service from the one bartender. Until the end of 2019, the Park was hands down the best place for dancing on Saturday nights, with absolutely no competition if you were over 35 and wanted to socialize and have fun In Vancouver. Soul train with DJ Alibaba" was just fantastic, week after week; with awesome music and a bunch of great people. Why on earth did they cancel it?!! So many regulars were appalled. We all knew there was literally nowhere else to go at all. I'm guessing there are a lot of us, like me, at home watching tv these days instead! What a tragedy that they stopped this!
