The best place nearby for high quality custom framing. The staff is helpful and patient while assisting you in selecting framing options. The store itself is also a great source for art supplies and activities. Highly recommended for all your framing and art needs.

There is a lot to love about the Paint Chip. They have a great selection of art supplies, they are always having great deals on really quality items, and there service is some of the best I've ever experienced. I never have trouble finding exactly what I need for whatever creative project I'm currently on - and quickly at that! I'm always in and out in no time, which is great when I forget I'm out of some color of paint mid-way through a project. Though, even when I'm not shopping for myself the Paint Chip exceeds my expectations. About two years ago, I found my stepdad a perfect little art pencil set and a sketchpad for Christmas and he adored it. Now the Paint Chip is a staple on my list when it comes to shopping small for the holidays. Meaning, in more way than one, the Paint Chip has got my back.

I visit The Paint Chip to buy my art supplies and pens and pencils. They have a wide assortment of pens, pencils, canvas, custom paper, spray paint, etc.. They also do custom framing. They really are your single store for artistic pursuits. They offer a loyalty discount program -- a discount card -- don't forget to. All the staff is extremely helpful. If you want to have some fun with an artistic hobby, this is the place to buy your gear. All the prices in the store are very reasonable.

Awesome customer service and highly skilled custom framing. I brought two very different pieces to have framed and Tylen took the time to help me find the perfect frames and mats for each piece. She made some suggestions I never would have considered, and they turned out really beautiful. I would definitely recommend the Paint Chip for custom framing, and they also have a huge selection of art supplies

I always like to stop by this store when I'm in town. They have a pretty good selection for a small business in a small town (comparatively). Their prices aren't discount but Geez, at today's gas prices it would cost way more to go to another town than you would save, I'm sure. I have bought miscellaneous items from them the three or four times I've been in, mostly feeding my purple pen fetish I'm sure, also colorful pencils, tiny canvases, whatever. To my surprise I found they now carry a few yarns and knitting supplies. The needles looked about the same price as Michael's and Joann's. The cotton yarn was about a dollar more and the wool yarn a couple dollars more per skein. No coupons here, at least not 40% like M's and J's. I was tickled to find a purple Sharpie as I'd forgotten to bring one of mine from home on my trip and had missed it. There is a $5 minimum for credit card purchases. I like to support small businesses whenever possible so I will continue to stop in here whenever I'm in town.

They did an awesome job framing

But, sometime in the past, it had been damaged: the photo - which was mounted on plastic and then cut with a table saw around the silhouette of the dog - had been scratched. After explaining exactly how he would fix the sculpture - by superimposing a new photo print over the existing image, cut to fit the existing plastic silhouette perfectly - Kevin did this challenging precision work in one day flat, for a very reasonable price. It is flawless, like new, and I am extremely happy. My highest review for this exceptional craftsman!

I really wanted to have it framed in a frame that was hanging in her nursery when we brought her home from the hospital. Only problem, the art piece was in a rectangle shape and the fame was a square. Kevin was friendly and very knowledgeable. He assured me he could cut the art piece so that it could fit in the frame without losing any of its integrity. He was right. The end result was perfect! My daughter loved it and even though it was the holidays and the store was always buzzing when I was in there...Kevin got the project done in just a couple days. We'll be redecorating her room this weekend and finding the perfect place to hang it! Thank you Kevin for adding some ease to my holiday season and for making my vision a reality!

Instead of a polite correction or guidance, the owner abruptly stormed out from the back and shouted "WHOA WHOA WHOA! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!"--startling both of us. My wife apologized immediately and tried to explain we weren't aware there was a specific process, but that didn't stop him from continuing to raise his voice and snatching the poster from her hands. He then gave us an unnecessarily condescending lecture about how "it's really just common sense." Even after my wife apologized again and said she would remember for next time, he kept going. His tone was rude, patronizing, and completely disproportionate to the situation. We decided to leave without buying anything because we simply didn't want to be treated that way. To the owner: if you don't want customers touching merchandise, that's completely understandable--but then clearly post signs asking people not to handle items without assistance. Don't assume people know your process, and definitely don't talk down to them when they make a simple mistake. Your behavior was unprofessional, and it ruined what should have been a simple, pleasant shopping experience. We won't be returning, and we sincerely hope others are treated with more basic courtesy and respect than we were.

Sadly, I had no luck. The dresses in other costume shops were soo pricey around $150-275 just for rental, and the online ones I found were too shabby for its price or just not appropriate. I accidentally stumbled upon the Enchanted Cellar, when I was watching a play at Wright Hall. I am so glad I found this place because Roxanne is very knowledgable about the time frame of the costumes, and they had a good selection of dresses for every era. I would call ahead to double check the hours, if they have what you are looking for, and the price range for the type of costume you are looking for. I tried on lots of dresses, finally found what I wanted (took me at least one hour). Also I paid around 46 bucks for 2 or 3 weeks rental with student id (Roxanne was very accommodating, since my event was in San Francisco, and I couldn't be in Davis for some time), but I think the price depends on the costume and the duration. She even tailored the dress a little bit to make sure it fits me. A+ service. Additionally, although some of the costumes here are pretty old, they have a high quality because they were actually made here mostly for plays. If you don't want to have overdone or slutty costumes for Halloween or any other event, definitely check this place out! The price might be questionable and out of range especially for students, but a lot better than many places. Recommended!

This was my first time participating in an exhibition at this gallery, as I had been considering becoming a member. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. Two weeks after the exhibition opened, I discovered that my artwork had been incorrectly labeled. Although I had clearly stated in my submission form that my work is "mixed media," it was presented as "watercolor." This is not a minor mistake--anyone with even basic knowledge of art can easily recognize that my work is not watercolor. Mislabeling directly affects how viewers perceive the artwork and can influence voting and audience feedback. I contacted the gallery by email to request a correction, but received no response. After repeated follow-ups over three consecutive days, I finally received a reply on the fourth day confirming that the label had been corrected. Such delays and lack of accountability are not acceptable in a professional environment. Throughout this experience, I felt that there was insufficient attention to professional conduct and respect for artists--especially emerging ones. I also sensed a difference in the way I was treated compared to others, which made me feel overlooked and unwelcome. In addition, when I inquired about the possibility of offering smaller works suitable for sale in the gift shop, my request was immediately dismissed without any review of my work. Only after I insisted did I send examples of my pieces, which I believe deserved proper consideration, yet my request was still not evaluated fairly. Due to this overall experience, I ultimately decided to withdraw my artwork from the exhibition. I did not want my work to continue being misrepresented or treated without proper respect. To make matters worse, the refund process for the $40 exhibition fee was handled carelessly. The gallery issued the check incorrectly three times, each time misspelling my last name. In the end, I had to write my name on a piece of paper to ensure the check was finally issued correctly. I also witnessed another artist whose ceramic work, valued at $1,000, was damaged while in the gallery's care. She was understandably upset, and this raised further concerns about how artworks are handled and stored. Overall, this gallery falls far short of the professional standards expected from an art institution. There appears to be unfair treatment of artists, with decisions seemingly influenced by personal relationships and favoritism, which is also quite evident on their social media presence. I sincerely hope that in the future this gallery improves in terms of communication, professionalism, fairness, and respect toward artists.
