Vastly overpriced, but that is to be expected given that it is a college store meant for excited students and parents. Good place to get something in an emergency (like if you forgot a calculator and have an exam), but you will likely be charged well over market price. The store has a wide variety and nice selection of goods. You can find plenty of products from most categories. Academic supplies, clothing, food products, books, toys. In terms of service, I really wouldn't expect anything one way or another. Not because they are bad or anything; the employees here are predominantly students of the school itself. This means employment is a bit of a revolving door, so they may not be able to help if you need something specific. Overall, I quite like this place. It isn't cheap, but it is certainly useful and convenient. read more

Have you ever tried looking for a postcard? It's hard to find these days and a card store actually referred us to this store :) Big thank you to Alyssa for taking us to the post card rack. She didn't just point to the vicinity, she walked us to it. Now that's customer service! After we picked out the perfect Davis postcard, we browsed to see the other cool items available. I came here recently to buy a shirt because UC Davis is my boyfriend's school. I was impressed with the selection. I want to fairly small college in NYC and they didn't sell even half as many items in their store. You can find blankets, mugs, shirts, sweaters, everything. However, it can be quite pricey. I bought the cow tipping shirt and I think it was 16.99, which is a lot for a basic t-shirt. Even simple items like tanks tops are pricey here, I looked at a few items like basic long sleeves or tank tops and they were all over $30! Ridiculous! I guess it is to be expected from a college store though. Decent selection, high prices, fine staff. read more

I am a nerd - I love going to university bookstores and peruse the different notebooks and technical journals and graph books and cool pens. I've done it at Stanford, Berkley, Harvard, even at Oxford in England as well as many other major universities and colleges. Yeah, I'm weird. I popped in and was deeply disappointed to find that this was not much more than a university souvenir shop and an excuse to print UC DAVIS on basically anything that you could stick those 7 letters on. Le Sigh. My bad - I should have looked on campus. On the plus side, the staff there were very friendly and nice. They did have a tiny, tiny little section where you can buy what I wanted to look at, but nothing that you wouldn't find any any other store except the words UC DAVIS were on the front cover. There were a gaggle of college girls in there who kept picking things up and saying everything was CUTE. I had fun listening to them say how this was CUUUUUUUUUTE and that thing was CUTTTTTTE and this was so CUTTTEEEEEE. I wish they could use as many different synonyms for the word CUTE as they found ways to pronounce it. read more

I was at Fleet Feet Davis for one of my race-related things and I noticed this UCD store across the street. As an alum I rarely go back to campus, but do visit downtown Davis often for errands and eating out. Before this store opened, the only other option I could think of for licensed Davis apparel/gear downtown was the Davis Sports Shop (and more recently but not downtown, the Davis Target store). The Downtown UCD store is convenient, and it has been useful for purchasing shirts and hooded sweatshirts as well as other gifts. I finished undergrad in 2008 (centennial) so I can get away with some of the current merch that says "UC Davis '08" or something, referring to establishment year, ha. I also snagged a hoodie with the traditional UC "seal" around the time of the proposed new ridiculous "UC" logo. They have a sort of rewards program where every dollar you spend earns you a point that can be used toward future purchases (discounts?). The store supervisor Kelly H. is awesome friendly. The store also does custom t-shirt printing in-store ($6 per shirt, no minimum order. Buy a blank shirt from them or bring your own in), and the job can be completed by the time you're done browsing the rest of the store. P.S. As you can see by the photo, even Hello Kitty endorses UC Davis. read more

I got some sweat pants since my old one from 8 years ago was falling apart. The new one doesn't seem as good quality though... I'm trying to understand the purpose of this UC Davis Store in downtown. As an alumnus, I don't visit downtown Davis very often anymore, but on my walk back to my parking spot after the Turkey Trot, I was surprised to see a UCD retail store on the fringes of downtown. Not that my closets are running low on UCD alumni gear, but in the rare occurrences where I would want to pick up some collegiate gear, it was nice to have a option that didn't involve going on campus to the Bookstore. The store features a limited selection of the same kind of branded random knick-knacks and university apparel. Naturally the selection isn't as broad as the Bookstore, as the space is much more limited, but given that this was the off-campus store, I also expected a larger selection of alumni gear - certainly more than a lone section of shelves. There was more selection and variety devoted to "UC Davis Family" gear. If the intent is to reduce merchandise traffic for parents and students during the fall and the holidays, I suppose it's effective. But the selection is so limited here and the Bookstore just isn't much further away that I would just make the effort to go to the Bookstore in the future. read more

I wanted to visit the on campus bookstore, but it wasn't open so I went to the shop downtown. This location offered a good selection of UCD clothing and other merchandise. Everything was neatly displayed and the store was clean. Only one person appeared to be working and he was manning the register. The line to checkout was long and it moved slowly. read more

I don't understand why there is a UCD store downtown. I actually went in a few times before work, just to enjoy the air condition and to shop around. The prices are typically high. They still a bunch of UCD gear and trinkets. It's pretty much a retail store for UCD. It is nice not having to go to the bookstore for things like scantrons and booklets. read more

Love this store! As a alumni I try to avoid campus during school days/hours (i.e. basically the exact hours of the MU bookstore) so I'd rather come here. It basically just carries merchandise/trinkets and less actual school necessities. Not sure if this store is carrying things that the MU store isn't or if it's just a supplement. Either way they had more than enough sweatshirt options for me and I left a happy camper. read more
