I don't recall taking the train ride, but for only $5 it's a must do for kiddos these days. Cheaper than a trip to Disneyland. What I really recall is the giant gingerbread people they used to have in their bakery. My parents would never get me one, but every time I saw them the drool was on. They also had quick breads like zucchini bread and the such. I'm a sucker for zucchini breads and other quick breads. I went a few years back ready to get my ginger bread man and some quick bread and to my dismay they don't have any of that anymore. Being an adult now I was so ready to buy all those things my parents wouldn't buy me. Being an adult has those perks. Now the Nut Tree is a place made up of restaurants and some key stone stores such as Ultra and Old Navy. If you hunt around you can find Sees. I really wanted to go to Sees today, but we ran out of time to make the trek over there. We did have time to explore Kirkland. I've never been to a Kirkland before and it turned out to be a real fun store. They had a great deal on diffusers. 1/5 the price of the ones I saw in Fort Bragg. I found one that I LOVED the scent to in Fort Bragg, but couldn't rationalize spending the money on it. I almost got one of the cheaper ones at Kirkland, but resisted as I really didn't need to spend the money today. I need to save up for the Berry Festival in Woodland this weekend and I bought too much stuff in Fort Bragg this weekend. We did go to Fenton's and shared a cone of black cherry and loved every bite the last time we were at the Nut Tree. It's hard to resist a cone from Fenton's when you stop at the Nut Tree. They are located to the right of the big Nut Tree sign and next to the bathrooms that are on the Left. We walk by it all the time as we go to the bathroom for our potty stop. Just thinking about it I'm drooling. We also stopped buy Old Navy. They always have tons of cute tees for $10, which is a good deal in my book for new shits. They had a ton for cute skirts and dresses, but they weren't a style I'd wear so we walked out empty handed. That was our stop in the Nut Tree this time. It's always a solid rest break and potty stop on our way.

Sometimes you find a good price. They also have different options like food and activities. Service is decent depending where you go. It's also very pretty during the winter time. Tons of parking throughout and very clean no matter where you look. Some trees in the parking lot are in bloom. I guess spring has sprung. To my surprise and dismay, I heard the owner saying "oh you're buying all of them" while I was picking up a few of the papers. That is not true, I was not. When I reached the counter, she began to yell at me that there was a 5 item limit to each newspaper. I had a few more than that, and I said this policy wasn't posted anywhere. She continued to yell and scream at me and said I could only purchase 5, while the man in the store took my others and put them aside. I told her please don't yell at me, don't yell at your customers. She kept yelling and said she knows she is a bad person and she was so sorry. Then she yelled some more, "I'm happy they won." The man ringing me up just kept saying, "I"m sorry. Sorry." And she continued to yell at me as I left the store. I don't understand how she was trying to berate me and apologize profusely at the same time. Nevertheless, never again, Newsbeat. I will never give you my business. I really should have just ordered the newspapers online through the Chronicle. Way to try to steal a customer's joy.

To make things just a little more confusing, this center called "The Plaza" is just across the street from "Dixon Plaza," because someone was really original. Been to Little Caesars a couple times, never had my nails done, don't use dry cleaning much these days and Maria's restaurant closed a year or so ago. So the only reason I roll up? Carniceria Lupita. The movie Half Baked described it as a "bodega." Say it with me, Bo-day-guh. No weed here though. I like this whole shopping center for two reasons: the salsa and the prepared foods from the carniceria. The salsa is a favorite of mine. Kind of a personal thing too. You may hate it. That's okay...I like it. The other is the prepared foods. Burritos, tortas and tacos and I'm sure a bunch of other stuff. But that's just one business. Maria's closed amidst the economic depression of this pandemic. I don't know if I'd gone but if so, it was only once or twice. Nothing of note. Maybe if I need a shirt laundered or my nails did would I come for more than hot salsa. For now, spicy sauce and the occasional taco are the only reasons for me to pay them a visit but really only to the one store.

More restaurants across the parking lot with a newly opened Tasty Pot just opened a week ago. The shopping center layout is not the best. It separated the supermarket and gas station from the rest of the stores. The entrances on both sides of the shopping center are often traffic-jammed because they have parking spaces right at the entrance. My car jammed up to the street a few times because someone stopped right at the entrance waiting for parking! Also, they have only a few shading areas in the shopping center!
