The Nut Tree has been around since 1921! My family and I always have a good time when we visit the Nut Tree in Vacaville. We visited on Saturday after spending some money at the outlets across the way. I like that they have a big plaza area in the middle that includes a carousel, playground and even a train! My daughter could spend hours here! There's a lot to explore at the Nut Tree - they have many dining options like Amici's East Coast Pizzeria, Fentons Creamery, Jelly Belly and Nick the Greek. They have shopping options as well such as Cost Plus World Market, Edible Arrangements, Ulta and even Old Navy! I like that even though they are across the way from the Vacaville Outlets, they don't actually compete since they have entirely different stores. Plus the outlets do not offer many food options, so once you finish shopping at the outlets, you can hop on over to the Nut Tree for some good eats! I took my kids where years ago when we had some time to kill. They had a nice time hanging out in the center, especially on the train ride. We were in the area again, so we went back. We visited a few different businesses in this center and were constantly greeted with helpful welcoming workers. My kids are a lot older now, and therefore they were not impressed by the carousal or the train. After their rides, they were pretty much over it. The playground was being renovated so that was one less thing for them to do. I would say this is more for younger kids, maybe 6 and under than older ones. read more

This is the major shopping area in Vacaville besides the outlet. You can find stuff on both sides of the street to do. One of the best places to eat is Kiki's chicken place. It is really delicious. Across from there is the park area where they have kids rides and events all the time. read more

I've got to say that one of Vacaville's most recognizable landmarks is the "Nut Tree". This has been a longstanding place for adults and kids to go for entertainment, shopping, and restaurants. Back in its heyday (in the early-1920's), it was known more for a roadside fruit stand since this area has agriculture surrounding it in all directions; especially in nearby Dixon (to the east) and Winters (to the north). It still does offer this but a much lower scale due to urban housing development. Located on right side of Westbound I-80 (towards San Francisco), Nut Tree runs relatively parallel to the freeway and is on the other side of the freeway from the Vacaville Premium Outlets. Here, you will notice a huge variety of eateries, retail stores, and everything in between. However, what really showcases this place is that they offer a full-size carousel, a jump house, and a working mini train (Engine #9) that the kids love at the Nut Tree Family Park. Over the years, this place has gone through several evolutionary design changes to keep up with the times. The original Nut Tree closed in the mid-90s and was revitalized in 2006 to make it as modern and inviting as possible. In recent years, much of the neighboring buildings made way for apartments, offices, and hotels while the original "Harbison House", a historic home built in the early 20th century was restored to its original condition. All in all, "Nut Tree" is a great family-friendly outdoor center. During summer weekends, they offer live music as well as a ton of events for the kids. And of course, this place has an endless amount of restaurants to choose from including "Amici's Pizza", "Fuji Sushi", "Fenton's Ice Cream", "King of Thai', and "Ramen 101" among others. The retail has many major anchor stores including "Best Buy", "Ulta", "Cost Plus", "BevMo", "Old Navy", and many others. Nut Tree is a shopping center located on the opposite side of the freeway from the Vacaville Premium Outlets. It is a big plaza with a variety of food and retail stores. But there are also attractions perfect for kids, such as a carousel, a small playground, and a mini train, making this an optimal location for family outings. There also used to be a mini roller coaster here which I loooved to ride as a kid, but that's been long closed. Usually when I'm in the area I go to Fuji's or Okashi Fusion for food, Mochinut for a snack, and Five Below just to browse around and see hidden gems what I can find. But I also like to walk around the other stores to window shop. One of my favorite parts of this plaza is the personality behind it. It gives off a cozy, friendly feeling, and this is more evident during the holidays when decorations are up. read more

I really love how the Nut Tree Plaza has a play area(train,carousal, playground & a jump house) for kids so that they can get their energy out while shopping around the area. Some stores that I like to shop at around this plaza: 5 Below Micheals Homegoods World market Pet smart Some fav food in this plaza Fujis(ayce sushi buffet) Okashi fusion(poke) Mochinut(mochi donut) Fenton(American restaurant with some delicious ice cream) They also have Krispy Kreme but you would need to cross the street. This is a massive shopping plaza and road stop with retail, restaurants, office space, apartments, an event center and even an amusement park! As it's located near the intersections of Interstates 80 and 505 between San Francisco and Sacramento, there is a lot of coming and going. Too many shops to list. Too many genres of restaurants to list. I have no idea about the apartments but the website indicates 1- 2- and 3-bedroom units with all sorts of features. I didn't spend too much time here as I had things to do and places to go. I can say that the parking even during June was a tough challenge. Good to re-visit this place again. Feels good to see the colorful Ballet Nut Cracker Dancers that are the designers' entrances at Nut Tree Plaza and the beautiful unforgettable carousel ride, that has all of the paintings to remember about San Francisco and to remember about the numerous varieties of carousel rides from the San Francisco's Golden Gate Park Children Playground and the San Francisco's Downtown Yerba Buena Moscone Center Park. The Nut Tree Customer Service Center is very helpful and was helpful to let customer know about the Nut Tree Plaza's train ride was under repair and was not going to be in service, until the other service repair representative return back with the trains, then the tickets could be available for purchase. The carousel ride ticket was available for purchase at $4 per person for a ride time of 2 minutes and 30 seconds. Approximately, 3 minutes. The relaxing, and amusing music from the carousel ride sounds good. In this Nut Tree Plaza, you will still have to watch out for cars and look out for everything. There are a lot of shops to check-in and there are a lot of delicious sweets to see or sample. I like the Fenton Ice Cream Store Shop, and next to that, is a Thai Land Restaurant. Next to the Thai Land Restaurant is a Jelly Belly Bean Store Shop. I had to check-in and check-out the shops to cool down and take shade cover from the sunny heat. Across from the "Fenton Ice Cream Shop" is the "All You Can Eat Fuji Sushi Buffet." Next to "Fuji Sushi Buffet" is the "Poke Bowls." Next to the "Poke Bowls" is an American Italian Chinese Japanese Korean Mexican Pizza Pizzarie Store Shop called "Ameci." This is a really beautiful place to re-discover and re-visit. There's a Jamba Juice Bar Smoothie Cafe in this Nut Tree Plaza. Again, I was very cheerful and very happy to return and to re-visit the Nut Tree. Nut Tree in Vacaville, CA, is a a shopping center right off Interstate 80. It all started in 1921 as the Power Family's fruit stand. Over the years it expanded to a small airport, bakery, gift shop, restaurant, and children's 2 acre play park. Now that is mostly gone and currently is a modern retail shopping center. Within the Nut street shopping center is the Nut Tree Plaza, it's a small outdoor plaza boasting a children's play area with a playground, carousel, and mini train rides. Rock out on a rocking hobby horse. The train was out of service indefinitely. I don't know if the carousel was running. To ride the carousel or train, you pay for the tickets at the ticket booth. On the side of the booth are black and white photographs of famous faces that have visited Nut Tree. 1955 Fred Mac Murray, 1956 Bozo the Clown, 1957 Ronald Reagan, 1962 Richard Nixon, and 2010 Chelsey Sullenberger. The ticket booth was saved from prior years. In 1953, a mini railroad was built to transport airport guests to the shops. That same train is now in the Nut Tree Plaza as a ride attraction. Shops: Best Buy, Home Goods, Old Navy, Fenton Ice Cream, Amicci's Restaurant... and so much more. Their are tons of dining options ranging from fast food, casual counter, or full service dine in. It's a great place to eat and relax in the plaza especially after outlet shopping down the street. Fun Fact: + Remember the Nut Tree concrete panel signs that hung near the freeway? They were built in 1964. Well the developers saved all 6 of those panels and built one on the side of the new building that was built in 2015 where the signs stood. On our recent visit to Nut Tree we saw cockroaches virtually everywhere! They were in Amici's Pizza, Jelly Belly and Fenton's Creamery. Also all over the sidewalks and the Play Structures and Merry Go Round. All the people who worked there could have cared less. Management needs to address this issue. We gave up on visiting the shops and left. We will not return. read more

The Nut Trees is a shopping center that is more than a shopping center. It's a huge playground for both adults and kids alike. There's such a variety of stores to shop, restaurants to eat, places to grab a sip of coffee/smoothies/boba/etc, and a play area for kids. The Nut Tree is located off I-80 and E. Monte Vista Ave. It's definitely one of the more major attractions on Vacaville for both locals and tourists. I'm a regular here :) read more

We spent the weekend in Vacaville for a family event and I wanted to do something with my little before we got on a long car ride home and my aunt told me about this place, so we decided to check it out. The shopping center had a lot of shops and restaurants, easy to find and the this little play area was perfect for us! They had a mini play ground and a carousel and a train and rocking horses and just a lot of fun for a little price that did just the trick. It was clean, not too busy, my little had a blast, there was even a little toddler version across the street for littles and it was just a great easy find to get some energy out. I would love for more outdoor shopping malls to have this concept, it would be a win win for parents and kids instead of dragging them from shop to shop. What a great idea! read more

This is the shopping center very good if you're looking for a place for food or relaxing. They have many very nice restaurants and stores in this shipping center. The Nut Tree Plaza has more area for customers to sit down and relax compared to most of the shopping malls. The layout is very comfortable with nice landscaping. They even have a miniature train & a playground in the middle of the shopping center. It is very easy for the whole family to spend a day without any problem. The parking lot is huge with so many parking spaces available. I have no problem finding parking, but some time is a little hard to found a parking space close to the store or restaurant I want! The Nut Tree is invariably on our way home. Great place to make a pit stop, grab coffee at Peet's, milk shake at Fenton's, or grab a quick meal at one of many eateries there. This morning, we saw on the news that there was going to be a pumpkin weigh-in. Never having been to one before, we went by to see what all the hoopla was about. Yes, there were some impressively huge pumpkins and squash there. The grand prize winner was over 2300 pounds and won the grower a cool $9 per pound. You do the math. Second place won $4000. Other heavy weights won smaller amounts. We learned some things that we never knew about these huge gourds. They can grow upwards of 30 pounds a day! Many times, the seeds come from other champion pumpkins (just like AKA dogs!). The walls of the pumpkins are so thick, they're not any good for pumpkin pie. This was a fun visit. We wouldn't do it every year but it was definitely interesting. The people who participate in this "sport" are really nice people that will share their "secrets" with just about anyone who asks. Oh, and this year is the 100th anniversary of the Nut Tree. If you haven't been by lately, make a stop. Even if all you do is stretch your legs, it's worth it. read more

This place has grown! When my youngest daughter was still little we used to come here for the train ride and the carousel. After I did my shopping at the Vacaville Premium Outlets, which was on the other side of the freeway, we'd enjoy a few hours here and she'd ride Engine #5. It takes a spin around the plaza. It was a treat for her as there is also a play area for children. The larger-than-life chess set piece was bigger than her (I may be exaggerating here a little) but those pieces are huge! Well, now that she's a teen the tables have turned... she loves the shopping part at the outlet while I enjoy... no, silly, not the kiddie rides and carousel (I have not crossed over my second childhood yet), but Fenton's! The Nut Tree has plenty of restaurants and stores! So many choices of where to eat while taking a break from shopping. I don't do much shopping anymore but I love to eat and from fast food places to casual dining restaurants to sit down restaurants... they have it all here. They have expanded to across the street with food places like SF Boudin, Noodles & Company, Pieology Pizzeria, The Habit and others. The original Nut Tree location has Fenton's, L & L Barbecue, Amici's, Panera, Poke Bowl and a plethora of other food options. The train ride was most definitely . The girl conductor working yesterday was definitely not a good day for her. She did not look happy to be working there! My son said that the last time they were there the conductor dressed the part and seemed to enjoy his job. This time as my 2 year old grandson exited, he said Thank You and Good Bye to the conductor, thankfully she said a warm, "Bye Buddy!" The cashier needs to work on customer service, the only reason I knew how much it cost for seniors was because it was posted. I didn't see a price for a 2 year old child until I got my receipt! We'll be back but hopefully everyone will like their jobs by then! read more

Fun little place for kids and lots of shops and restaurants around for adults. Stopped by on a Friday afternoon and it wasn't too busy in the plaza area. They have a train, merry go round, and a little playground all at the center of the plaza. There's also a smaller area for toddlers next to the jelly belly store. You do need tickets for the rides and they're half off on Thursdays for military, but it's not too expensive if you have just one or two kids. We did both rides and my son had a lot of fun! He wanted to go again and again but we had stuff to do so we only rode each ride once. I think the whole area was closed during the pandemic so it was a welcomed surprise to get to ride things this day. One thing to note is that there's really no social distancing and most people are not wearing masks so if Covid is a concern then you may want to wait a while for things to calm down a bit. The playground is pretty clean and the floor looks padded so your kid won't get too beat up if they fall or trip. After my son was done playing we went and grabbed coffee at petted and went to a restaurant across the street. It was a fun little distraction from the daily grind and we'll definitely stop by again. read more

Wonderful place for toddlers and little kids. There is a small train that takes us on a 5 minute ride every 15 mins for $4 each person. Kids have an all day ride pass for $25. Although it can be used for train and a carousel not sure if it's worth it for just 2 rides. But the place by itself is awesome and well maintained Covid protocols are very well followed and we felt safe there with kids who are too little to wear masks. read more

The Nut Tree used to be great, now big box stores sit on what was once hallowed ground. I guess to get the proper permits, the developer promised to keep the choo choo train going. No one cares anymore. I grew up with the Nut Tree. The waitresses serving fruit plates with those coffee cakes in their 60's bright outfits. Now nail spas, Peet's coffee and miserable restaurants have taken their place. I'm not trying to sound like some old man but, they should just change the name to something like New Strip Mall with Big Box Stores. The spirit of The Nut Tree has long gone. Today we stopped for some food and I told Yan, let's get out of here. It made me sick to think this site was a happy rest stop. I miss the old nut tree from back in the 1960s-1970s-1980s even until the late 90s then it all went away and became a strip mall. Some original relics remain but it makes me miss the old place even more. The train used to go super far away past the mansion thru tunnels and to the nut tree airport nearby. Thats all gone. Nut Tree was once just a place to stop by on the way to somewhere else but today it has become a destination with something to offer for everybody. Kids amusement, fancy restaurants and bargain basement outlets are some highlights. Growing up this used to be a place to stretch legs and maybe get some fuel - that was 25 years ago. Today its almost shocking to see the differences and the way it is so built up in a master-planned sort of way. Thoughtful layout to stores beautifully designed all in harmony and intent. Kids amusemen: train rides, carousel and small park. High end stores like Boudin and Restoration Hardware. Some cheap fast food options too like In N Out - avoid INnOut on the weekends though - too many people. A great stop. Take a look at all the stores and if your passing through plan out an hour or two. read more

An excellent little playground with a train and carousel. You have to pay for the last two but it is quite inexpensive; 6 tickets for $10 We arrived on a Saturday morning before 11. Very few shops are open early. That was probably why parking was easy. There was a birthday party set up on one of the tables which would be a terrific venue. It is a bit of a maze to find the restrooms but it will take you past the Jelly Belly shop. The restrooms are clean too. However, there are no kid's sized toilets or wash basins which would be good idea when you are encouraging a clientele of kids. read more

I have been here once before at least some years ago, shortly after getting my MA. I was super impressed, thought it was absolutely adorable, and looked forward to visiting again. But, it was Christmas time and that was my favorite holiday. And it was so festive and we didn't go to too many stores, which is why I was so curious to expore. I remember visiting the Jelly Belly store and having fun. But this time, it wasn't Christmas and other than Fentons, I felt that the rest of what they had was a waste. I walked a lot and had 6200 steps exploring and will spend most of my time on the rest of the shops on the other side of the freeway. But, other than Fentons (see my review), I see no reason to go. They have most stores in other places, and coming here isn't a bonus in coming here. read more
