It brought new options to shop at in Natomas and a smile to my face, but also brought in more traffic to the already congested intersection of Truxel Road & Gateway Park Boulevard where Natomas Marketplace is. The plus side was that it extended North Freeway Boulevard from were it used to dead end right through the shopping center to Gateway Park Boulevard. Kind of a back exit/entrance of sorts and to avoid all that traffic from Truxel. The place also had (and still has) an outdoor village area with shops typically found in shopping malls. It included Aeropostale, American Eagle Outfitters, Anchor Blue, Claire's, Journeys, Lids, PacSun and Tilly's. When the recession hit, Linens-N-Things was one of the first to go, as it went out of business. Then, in an unprecedented move, Sam's Club closed down. Luckily these spaces have been filled by Bed Bath & Beyond, Ashley Furniture and Burlington. The outdoor village didn't fare as well. Anchor Blue went out of business, then, over the years, AE, Lids, PacSun, Aeropostale, Journeys, Claire's, and, recently, Tilly's all closed down, leaving it a virtual ghost town and utter disappointment in my face. Others that have departed included OfficeMax, Pier 1, Qdoba, Starbucks (in the outdoor village area, not the one inside Target) Johnny Rockets and Mimi's Cafe. Despite all the departures from this huge shopping center, it still has a decent selection of stores and places to eat, with Target and Best Buy being the ones I frequent the most.

I know this is true, because I've often seen jackrabbits hopping through parking lots and construction sites. I've seen the fog rolling across the fields and the 80. What we lack in signage we gain in variety. Best Buy, BevMO, Buffalo Wild Wings. Tilly's, Target, Tokyo Steakhouse. And now open, Burlington Coat Factory and Panda Express. Latest news, as of the Summer of 2013, the sprawling shopping plaza is hosting a farmer's market. Saturdays, 8 a.m. to noon. Good job, Natomas, keeping your fair citizens away from downtown!

I've walked my dog through this plaza dozens of times, if not more. People go in and out of the…read moregym and maybe once in a while I'll see people at the Chop Shop with their jeeps and trucks but it's very quiet at most times. Maybe I'll see people going to church on Sundays but I don't see that often, nor do I see it consistently. The sewing place seems like a quilting paradise but I don't do that. K & W kitchens would probably have been a good resource when we re-did the house but they hadn't moved in yet. Everything has fairly limited hours and I don't see anything open on any sort of consistent basis.

The Spirit of Mexico Lives in Midtown Sacramento!…read more SITREP Since I've discovered Placita MX, it has become a wonderful quiet place to bring a cup of coffee from Chloe or my to-go lunch order from the Drunken Noodle and have a quiet moment in the beautiful courtyard. But I'm getting ahead of myself.... THE SETUP Placita MX is this beautiful jewel, quietly tucked away from the hubbub of the frenetic shopping & restaurant areas of J Street, and is a sweet cultural center filled with nifty shops and art-spaces. Many artists call this spot a home to display their artistic-visions - some to sell, some to just display - and it gives the feel of some much deeply loved culture here in Midtown. SHOPS The several shops sell many interesting items from small art, jewelry, knick-knacks, some cool touristy items to take back to another city/state if you are just visiting our fair city, and places to just relax - a quick pivot off the main J Street, but still within a stone's throw so you don't get lost. I mean u have Cantina Alley and now Abuelas next door I love it ! So inside the Placita has a few shops . All the shops are Mexican cultural shops from shoes from Mexico to Concha little bags or slippers so cute by the way lol . They have an indigenous store that sells sage and a lot of different kind is scented sticks . The outside area is a big garden with very nice murals . They also have public restrooms inside . This is definitely a must visit place .. I can't wait to go back when I'm in the area again .
