It's a lively downtown area. Many people come to downtown during by the day or at night. It's next to the Golden 1 center so it's very walkable. I've been here many times. There is many businesses, attractions, food and live music every weekend. The parking is a tricky part. There is optional street parking and garage parking. I parked in the garage ($12). I came to the Tipsy Putt yelp event and the DOCO sign light up so bright when it was evening and it was right outside. Many of the stores here range from different prices. Sometimes you find a good price. They also have different options like food and activities. Service is decent depending where you go. It's also very pretty during the winter time. I believe they have an ice rink near by. Definitely a must see. read more

Visited December 17th and 18th. Great restaurants and shops are in the immediate area! Catch a game at Golden One or a concert and then enjoy everything this area has to offer! The skating rink is across the street from my picture along with Butcher and Barrel and Sauced just steps away! So fun to be at DOCO! They have upped their Security which is great! The weekend Market at DOCO drew a pretty decent crowd. There were quite a few small businesses represented with unique gift ideas for the holiday season. The mall was decorated for the holidays with plenty of Christmas trees and reefs, from the Ice Rink on 7th Street to the west end parking lot by Holiday Inn and the underground walkway to Old Sacramento. I enjoyed visiting the booths, and stopping by the Kings store to see the new merchandise. There are plenty of public parking lots with two that I know of on J Street, L Street and 3rd Street entrances that validate at restaurants and some stores in DOCO. Some validate for 2 hours, some for 90 minutes to cushion the total cost of parking. I have always loved this area in downtown Sacramento. read more

Now that Macy's the anchor store is gone, it has really changed things for us. We used to love going to Macy's. They have their own private lot and easy to get in and out of. We came here on Sunday to go to Tom's Watch Bar to watch the A's and King's games. Both were in town, but we didn't have tickets and wouldn't have been able to seen both games at the same time. It's a nice place to hang out at. They have everything for a quick snack such as ice cream and smoothies and a candy store and coffee shop. They also have full service restaurants. There are a few stores for shopping also. Mostly team stores with athletic themed items. Parking is mostly in the lot. There is a very limited amount of street parking. Some places validate such as Tom's Watch Bar and Macy's used to. I'm not sure if the smaller stores validate. read more

I checked into the DOCO Yelp page instead of the DOCO Century Yelp page by mistake and was surprised to learn that I had not left a review. I really like DOCO - I like walking around, going to the movies and eating there. They have lots to offer like Yard House, Burger Lounge, Haagen-Dazs, Panda Express and Jamba Juice. They even offer a BBQ place, a champagne place and a massive candy store. You can't forget about the Golden 1 Center Arena, the Kimpton Sawyer Hotel (a great staycation location), The Lash Lounge and the coming soon Escapology! They have a 24-Hour Fitness, a Century Theaters and a Hot Dog on a Stick coming soon as well. The list goes on and on! Tom's Watch Bar is a must too - one of my favorite places to eat at in DOCO! They really turned Downtown Sac into a great place once the mall shut down. They have a little something for everyone - from a shopping trip to a girl's day to a date night - all ranging in different prices depending on your budget. I've never had a bad experience with any of the customer service at any of the places I have checked out in DOCO. The parking garage is the best place to park unless you get lucky with street parking, but most of the DOCO businesses with validate for you. read more

Whether you're heading to an event at the Golden 1 Center, shopping at Macy's, seeing a movie, or stopping by to enjoy a meal at one of the many restaurants DOCO is a fun spot in Downtown Sacramento. Unless you park farther away and walk you'll most likely be paying for parking, you'll want to take advantage of the garage parking or street parking. Some businesses will validate garage parking, don't forget to ask before leaving. When there are events this area is extremely busy, on non-event days there's a good amount of people coming through and it's typically a mixture of tourists and travellers as well as locals. I like that there is a good mix of the typical chain restaurants mixed with local businesses. There are also hotels here that make it easy for visitors to stop by and enjoy fun local businesses without having to drive. DOCO is also very close to Old Sac and a lot of other nearby businesses. read more

What's not to love? You're onsite of where the Sacramento Kings play along with a ton of restaurants and bars. The chain restaurants seem to outnumbered the local spots, but if you step just outside of DOCO there are plenty of non-chain options to explore. I've been here twice now. The first time was to see a Sacramento Kings game a few years ago and the second being my most recent which was a quick stop for a few drinks. Besides eating and drinking there are outdoor seating areas with some lawn games and play areas for families. The one downside I see is the parking, but there are plenty of paid lots and meters around the area. Be careful when walking around here at night to refill the meter. The neighborhood seemed to get a little rough after sundown. I really enjoyed hanging out at the DOCO and I wish I had something similar in my neck of the woods. read more

DOCO is one of my favorite spots to spend time in the city! They offer an array of activities and businesses to enjoy. I love their inclusion on lawn games, outdoor seating, live music, and interactive photo-ops. DOCO is home to the Golden 1 Center, which is an arena facility that houses the Sacramento Kings, sold out concerts, graduation ceremonies, and so much more. There is always something fun to see and something new to try. Parking is usually easy to come by whenever there isn't a major event happening at the arena (and most businesses in DOCO offer free validation for DOCO parking garages). The downside to DOCO is that whenever there is an event at the arena, it is PACKED. Sometimes too much to enjoy the surrounding businesses and your trip there. Overall, DOCO has great food, shopping, and activities! A great spot to takes friends, family, and dates! read more

More than just basketball... Does not mean Director of Commissary Operations or Designing Out Crime Officer. It is short for DOwntown COmmons. DOCO is located in the heart of downtown Sacramento... it has been the focal point of food, shopping and entertainment and with that, of course, come traffic challenges just getting there! It's even worse when there's an event at the Golden 1 Center or construction going on and you're diverted or merging into one lane. There is a parking garage located conveniently next to the shopping center and some businesses offer validated parking. Check with the store. I don't often come here but my experiences here have only been a handful like for Kings basketball games and concerts at the Golden 1 Center. Occasionally, I would attend Yelp events if the venue were held here... but to come here just to dine and shop, I would avoid. Also, know that there are more restaurants than shops (so far just Macy's and Urban Outfitters), so I wouldn't call it a "shopping" mall. DOCO - Downtown Commons is the entertainment and fun location in the heart of Sacramento. Many of the nice foods, drinks, shopping I am enjoying at DOCO in recent years. Century Theater and Golden 1 Center attract a lot of customers to the area. DOCO is packed with people when Golden 1 Center has events or sports. All the restaurants are jammed up with hundreds of customers. I love the atmosphere here and I can't find the same feeling at anyplace else in Sacramento. Please come check out the area at night if you've not come to Sacramento downtown at night in more than a few years. I'm sure you'll say "WOW"! read more

The roommate and I were going to grab dinner at Yard House, so we visited Downtown Commons. We got here on Sunday, February 17th around 10:45pm. Finding the restaurant was a little confusing. Google Maps kept taking us to a street that didn't really exist. When we finally figured out it was in this shopping complex, we went ahead and parked in the garage. Remember to bring your parking ticket with you for retail validation. We got it validated after our meal, but I can't recall if we paid anything. I know we were here for about 1.5 hours and the first hour was supposed to cost $4. I think in the end, we paid nothing? So maybe two-ish hours are included? Everything was basically closed when we arrived, but at least we were able to get some late night happy hour specials. From what I can tell, there's not much street parking close by, so may sure to park in the garage and get your ticket validated. read more

Living in California, nothing beats our weather. Hot, cold whatever it may - Cali is known for its sunshine so I'm always down for an outdoor spot that offers so much like DOCO. DOCO is best known as the outdoor shopping / eatery area of The Golden 1 Center. During the summer they have live music on the weekends, and they host many other events. I love DOCO because there are different restaurants to chose from, it's outdoors and the modern architecture is fun! I swung by DOCO as I've some business to take care off nearby. Parked in the street (used the app to pay instead of coins)... fans of the Kings were lining up the street in front of the Golden 1 center... suddenly the street seems lit. It would be thrilling if someday, somehow, downtown Sac becomes more populated with tourists and locals enjoying a walk, eat, movie, shopping and what not... advertisement is in order to get people to come down. Maybe open the Chinatown... that would bring people... If you willing to walk the Capital building is just nearby, a few blocks down J st. You'll see homeless people, don't worry, they're harmless. I'm surprised I never wrote a review for DOCO yet. When the weather is nice I like to walk around DOCO. On a hot day, I like going to Jamba for a smoothie and on a cold day, I go to Roots for some coffee. There are some decent food options for lunch here. One thing I don't do here though is go to any of the shops because they are expensive. Not sure about their parking since I park elsewhere and just walk to DOCO. Great place to hang out after an event at G1 Arena or after they light the beam! read more

Working in downtown, I've seen first hand the transformation that DOCO has gone through. Like many I was skeptical of Golden One Arena and the conversion from the old downtown plaza. I also understood a change was needed, I was a fan of the mall back in the day but saw how underutilized it had become and all the open store fronts. Times have changed and I think it has been for the better. DOCO was smart to keep things like the metamorphosis mural on the parking lot next to Macy's and it really works as an apt comparison for what had happened out here. There has been a positive change in the businesses around here and with the work that has been spent on K and businesses moving back, i fee safer bringing my family and kids here. I was here this past Saturday for the start of the holiday phot scavenger hunt. Sure the pandemic has hit this place as well but they are adapting. The creation of the open seating area where people can order food and have it brought to them is a great idea. Business are still open around here and it's great place to still walk around in open air compared to Arden Fair Mall. Also it's nice to have a place I can walk around as opposed to trying to fight my way out of the old Arco Arena parking lot after a kings game. There are still some criticisms, the pathway to old sac can still use some work. The area can be downright dingy at times and adding a better security presents at night might be a good idea. The connection is to old sac is underutilized and I believe they should push it harder. Shoutout to some business I love to visit (some pre-pandemic) The Bank - it's technically just off the DOCO main plaza but pre pandemic this was a fun place to drink and hang out with friends. Insomnia Cookies - I literally do not leave this place until I pick up some cookies Raretea, Flatstick Pub and Poland Cantina Definitely a place to visit if you are looking to get out during the pandemic! read more

The DOCO Well its been open for over 1 year now and still a work in progress. From stores opening to the parking garage. It has some impressive stores from Starbucks reserve bar, haagendaz icecrem shop, Punch bowl social and the Golden 1 Center. It has some cool spots for some picture moments and such. You can find many people hanging around the the Big DOCO signs at some of the entrance areas. Plenty of seating around the middle. Not any shade though so when its at peek summer at 100° bring your shade makers (hat, umbrella what ever keeps you shady). The not so good part so far is the construction spots. Areas blocked off that would be quick exits or entrances to stores, parking garage and alley ways. The parking garage itself was pretty good except the paying part. They have 1 area at the exit for paying but you need to park in desginated area which can put you just past the exit and you get to do another ride around the garage. As the pay shack is not intended for someone to always be there but made it just incase? In due time (even after 1 year of being open) they have more stuff to finish and hopefully soon. This can and probally will be a great spot once everything is finished and fixed. read more

This is a great outdoor walking area with lots of nice stores and shops. They have urban outfitters, a hotel, many different restaurants in cinemas. It's fun plaza as they do have bars. This area gets pretty lively during Kings games and concerts and it's the place to be. I love going to doco, so whenever someone says or mentions doco I can't turn it down. It feels very safe and welcoming as well. read more

I agree with other reviewers that the payment system needs to get worked out. There might be others, but I only saw one payment kiosk - that's sure to be a logjam during high traffic times... and then there's the wait to get out of the place. The whole point of the payment kiosk, I thought, was that it was an automated system - but there was a human at the gate whose sole purpose, it seems, is to take your ticket and put it into the ticket reader that you can easily reach yourself. Hmmm. On the plus side, it's not a bad garage in terms of parking spot size and so on. I had no problems getting in and out other than the wait to get out. Hopefully the kinks will get worked out soon. read more

.....Ohhh so that's what DOCO stands for lol there is so much mentioning of "DOCO" in the area. Sac, please, you're being too hip with your lingo nowadays. Went here on a Friday night to get some RareTea and decided to take advantage of the 2-hour parking validation by walking around in the area. Pretty dead around these parts; I reckon that it gets packed only when there's a b-ball game or concert going on at the neighboring Golden 1 Center. Not much picturesque attractions here. There are only a few stores (i.e. Urban Outfitters, Macy's) and restaurants (i.e. Yard House) here. Worth maneuvering downtown just to visit this place? Nah. For tourists, definitely wouldn't recommend adding this place to your downtown itinerary (the only reason why I'm mentioning this is because I saw two ladies here trying to sell fold-up maps of Sac lol). Garage parking. $4 per hour unless you get your ticket validated for 2 hours by spending money at the businesses here. read more

I've lived in Sacramento since my teens then moved away. I remembered this place being downtown plaza. When I moved back I see it has changed to the DOCO and I'm so impressed at how modern it looks. It's super clean and a cool spot to hang out at with plenty of places to eat and drink. I've gone to Disney on Ice at the golden one center last year and then today I walked through with my dogs for fun. People walking through seem to be enjoying the DOCO and respect the place enough to not litter. It does seem heavily staffed from security to custodians which is great! There are nearby parking structures and then the walk isn't so bad. So far an easy 5 stars from me. read more

I know, I should have come here sooner, but... here we are. I used to frequent the K street mall as a teenager, and even in my early twenties. Listen, I know on the surface of it, this portion of sac has been improved, but as I walked through DOCO, I felt only a nostalgia for the diversity and liveliness which used to be this mall. DOCO is one of those structures that define gentrification. It has no discernible culture or history, or personality, but provides a few restaurants and shops very obviously catered to the upper-middle class, and above. You can easily cut it from the heart of Sacramento, and put it into any other city, without a problem. It's literally that generic. Pretty, but generic and uninspired. It also doesn't really have much for children or teenagers, so it's not a good place to go to as a family and doesn't provide much shade for those who want to do something/go somewhere on a sunny weekend afternoon. We walked through DOCO, towards that little tunnel that connects to the old Sac. As we walked through the tunnel looking at these old familiar, and nostalgic murals, I saw children laughing and trying things on their skateboards still like back in the days. I was happy to see they're still there but felt even sadder that the structure that replaced a teenage hangout place, decided to exclude them. read more

This place was pretty chill and had enough stores to pass time and check out. I would come back here again if it wasn't so cold and take my time and maybe sit at one of the cafes or go to one of the basketball games! Not a good shopping place if it's cold, hot, or raining because of how it's outdoors. You have to pay for parking. It's mostly restaurants and other places to eat with Macy's being the main part of the shopping center. The Arden Fair mall is a much better place to shop. The Arden Fair mall is cleaner, nicer, and dependable. Plus parking is always free there. read more

Got validation, still had to pay! Rip off! Thought I'd see a movie and get a bite at the new DOCO center, so I parked in the underground garage, and took my ticket to get it validated. I got a bite of bbq at Sauced, then headed to see a movie at DOCO Century, 2 blocks away within this complex, getting 4 hour validations at each (the restaurant and theater each validated 4 hours). Well to my shock, when I tried to leave the garage I was told that ONLY ONE validation would be accepted, and I had to pay an outrageous $8 to leave this empty shopping center, or whatever it is. I would NEVER have come if I knew I'd have an $8 surcharge on my outing, which was done on a tight budget, by the way. I could have parked on the street for free, and ONLY parked in the garage because both places I was going to validated (I checked in advance). I left feeling ripped off, and not wanting to come here again. Oh, just exiting the garage was a 10 minute ordeal, just a mess. read more

The family and I always have a good time here! We love the movie theater here, with the reclining seats that heat up; the popsicle cafe that has all kinds of unique flavors; the BBQ restaurant; burger place & Punch Bowl Social; not to mention the arena. Fun, chill ambiance, with plenty of places to sit and people watch. Very kid and dog friendly- even has a faux grass fenced dog area. Easy walk to Old Sac from here. Okay this review is specific for the terrible nightmarish doco parking garage. Turns out even on a random Thursday evening (no kings game, no golden 1 center event) around 7:30pm got stuck in the garage trying to exit for about 30 minutes due to the incredibly inefficient payment system. Advance payment is required prior to exiting however there is only 1 level (P1) where you can pay... yes this means that if you park on p2 or any level other than p1 you cannot pay. This results in several people getting stuck at the exit not having paid and an enormous and ridiculous delay. Please please please fix the parking garage so we can use it and enjoy the new Doco area without spending 30min to get out. read more

I see that others have experienced problems with the parking garage. We parked at this mall because we wanted to have coffee at the Roots cafe before heading back to San Francisco. We never found the cafe. The mall directory didn't have it listed. After wandering aimlessly in the mall for about 15 minutes and finding no cafe or other interesting businesses, we decided to leave. We were surprised this mall charged to park, but we paid our $2 fee into a payment machine that was very very slow in processing. Then we saw the down escalator to our parked car was broken. We had to go down just one floor but didn't see any stairs. Fortunately someone pointed us to the elevator next to Macy's. The elevator operated at a glacial pace. We were finally back to our car and lined up behind cars that were exiting the garage at yet another glacial pace. Our turn finally came. The machine ate the ticket, then went into an endless processing routine. We pushed the help button many times. No help came. Our ticket remained stuck. The processing message kept flashing. My companion finally pried the ticket out with his keys. He tried to scan the ticket but no dice. Meanwhile cars lined up behind us. The person behind us finally walked up and asked if he could help. We explained our frustration and he laughed. He said it was a regular occurrence at this garage. Finally a woman appeared and manually opened the gate for us. On our drive up to Sacramento we were listening to the audiobook, Wayward Pines. We experienced our own real life trapped feeling at the Doco Mall. read more

Honestly what isn't here?? There is such a good variety of restaurants and shops. Perfect for grabbing a bite to eat before an event. But you also could spend your entire night here at the various bars and clubs. There is tons of security and the grounds are kept very clean and are well lit at night. But it is downtown sacramento so you will see the occasional homeless person rolling by. Good place to go to with a group! read more
