I dropped off my quilts and explained that I wanted to finish the bindings by hand, which meant to…read moreme (as I left a LOT of fabric for them) that when I received it, it would be quilted where the batting was attached, and they would leave a fabric border for me to turn and sew. First of all, the seamstress tells me, "I made a little mistake on your quilt." SHE CUT OFF THE WHOLE BOTTOM BORDER! In addition, if you look closely you can see the quilting goes INTO the border. So, I had to hand-remove the invaiding stitches, and then remove the excess batthing. The other quilt (floral) has the same border problem so I will have to painstakingly remove stitches again. On top of this I was charged $238 for these two quilts, and she did not even offer me a discount for her mistake. I will never go back.

Deb had the fabric sample books set out for us and allowed us to take them home to find ones we liked. We saw four patterns we liked and emailed her back to get pricing. We made our selection. We soon heard back that Deb was having trouble finding a supplier for the fabric. A bit later she contacted us again to say that our choice, as well as two of the others, was no longer available, so we went with the fourth choice. Then there was a delay in the manufacturer shipping the fabric. Once it arrived we had Deb and her crew sew the ends to match the original fabric pattern to fit into the chair frames. Deb drove the fabric out to Chico to rush the sewing since it had been almost two months since we had placed the order. Apparently there isn't much demand to recover sling chairs. I guess most people just replace them. This must have been very frustrating for Deb and Davis Upholstery. We are now happy that the chairs are useful again.

I took my new sewing machine in to ABS Sewing for warranty repair 3 times over the course of almost…read morea year, each time having to leave it for at least 3 weeks and each time being told by Zac there was nothing wrong with it. And yet each time within a few days of being used it would not be operating correctly. Frustrated, I took it to Village Sewing Center in Santa Rosa where they actually have professionally trained repair people, as well as a fabulous store for fabric, notions and machines. They had it fully functional within half an hour after beginning service the same day. This was on Sept 1st and today, Oct 23rd I'm still sewing happily with a great sewing machine. I thought it was so cool that I got to go behind the counter and pick frame options off the wall - they really have everything you could ever need! We found a matte and frame that worked well with my other degree, which I brought for reference. The whole thing was under $300, which was very reasonable for what I ordered! They also gave me a discount for being a first-time customer and they also offer teacher discounts! The framing was estimated to take 6 weeks, which was a little long. However, the wait is worth it, as they custom-order and shape the frame to your needs. My order was finished in a little less than that timeline, which I appreciated. They also gave me hanging advice and tips for where it would look best. I love how it turned out and will definitely be back when I next have something special to commemorate!
