We rolled into town on a multi-day roadtrip and had intentions of camping in the national forest…read morenearby. However, we had some snags in our plans and didn't get into town until late, so we opted for a last-minute hotel room. And to sum up the quality of this hotel...I would have had a better nights rest if I had set up my tent in the ditch off the highway. It would have been cleaner and more comfortable for sure, and it probably would have been safer and quieter as well. So let me save you some time: don't stay here. But because I almost never give 1 or 2 star ratings, I feel like I have to explain. Here's my full review... Cleanliness - I think the room was lightly vacuumed, and I'm genuinely hoping (yet seriously doubting) that at least the sheets and towels are clean. Service - The lady at the front desk was nice enough. But I literally saw no other employees. Granted, we checked in way late and got the hell out as quickly as possible. So I guess I don't know. Amenities - Other than a relatively new microwave and mini fridge, there weren't really any. Only one towel in the room, no hand-soap, no cups (though there was an ice bucket), no pens, no paper, no guest book. There was a table and two chairs (both with suspicious stains and loose screws), a love seat (probably brand new in 1990), a TV so outdated that I had flashbacks to my pre-daycare cartoon time (that was 20 years ago)...you get the picture. Other comments: -Incredibly loud (train crossing directly outside that sounded it's horn every 1/2 - 1 hour) -Maintenance in rooms was non-existent...or maybe the place is under construction...see pics. -Don't expect a hot shower. At highest setting, it was lukewarm. -Overpriced. Look, in a pinch, I'm not a diva. I am happy to stay in a basic, no frills, and outdated hotel...I just expect it to be reasonably clean, safe, and to have hot water. Not only did this place not meet my minimum requirements, but even if it had...I could have stayed at a 3 star hotel for this price.

We only stayed here for one night but it was every thing we had hoped for. Checking in was easy, though there are limited parking spots behind the inn. Our room was plenty spacious and super clean. This site is large and very easy to reach as it is less than 2 hours from Metro-Atlanta. The grounds have both a camp site with cabins and standard hotel rooms (a bit older which adds to its charm). There are many activists such as zip lining, canoeing, hayrides, hiking and nice trails. A definite quaint getaway for rest and relaxation. There are multiple conference rooms, free WiFi and an on-site kitchen for catered meals. The only con I experienced on the last trip was a lack of monitoring of inventory of food for quick replenishment on the buffet line, no signage to label ingredients in the food, no gluten free options for bread or desserts. This isn't unusual so, I adjusted my medals by just adding more fruits and veggies. The Fall is an exceptionally beautiful time to bifurcation. I'll be back soon!!

Had it's own kitchenette along with a small pull out sofa. Room and bathroom were clean. I always find hotel showers to be ridiculous with regard to water pressure, however this is the best shower Ive ever had at any hotel anywhere (and I travel frequently). Great shower all around with outstanding water pressure, showerhead. Bed was comfortable and clean. Complimentary breakfast was pretty good as well. Staff were friendly. I highly recommend this for a convenient stay when traveling through this beautiful part of the country.

All the cabins are uber dog friendly (sorry my feline friends) with providing free amenities - a large pet bed, food and water bowls, toys, treats & beach towels. There's no size, weight limits, breed restrictions, or pet deposits...where's the love for the Kats? The nearby Benton MacKaye Hiking Trail is easy to access during daylight & all pathways leading to the main road is gravel. We will be back to try another of the many cabins that the Sliding Rock Property Management offers. I strongly suggest looking at the rental terms & requirements before reserving as there are many to agree & adhere to.

Very misleading the directions we got was ridiculous we were coming from Chattanooga but their directions brought us from Atlanta. Why not just give people the physical home address with the street address and let them Google it themselves. You treat people as though they are too stupid to know how to Google the address. We had to end up asking local people where the specific road it was on was because we drove around a half an hour trying to find it with the crappy directions provided from you. It would have been so much easier if we had the house number the name of the road the house was on and let us Google it from our home. The 12 pages of fine print rules should be given to someone before all the money has been paid and they're locked into a contract they may not want to be in. Had I have read all those rules before you got my money I probably would not have agreed to it. I have cleaned hotels from Holiday inn Express to Roach motels on highway 19 in Florida. Nowhere I have worked has ever required the guest to have a checklist they're required to do. I paid an extra $200 over what the room was supposed to cost for cleaning yet my guest and I were required to strip the beds take out the trash load and unload the dishwasher.... All the cleaning staff had to do was do the laundry which consists of the sheets and the towels they apparently do not wash their comforters . So when you sit on the comforter you're sitting on whatever the last guest left behind. Their ad said lake and a mountain views all we could see were trees. Had to leave the property to see any mountains or lakes rivers anything. This was my first vacation I'm in my 60s it wasn't what I had hoped it would be. They say their dog friendly yet don't want any dog hair on the furniture the beds I brought my own blankets from home to cover all of their stuff so that my dog could be on the furniture . Not very dog friendly if my dog isn't allowed to sit on the couch or sleep in the bed with me like he would at home. Then when I try to bring this to their attention they blocked me on Facebook and ignore my emails they are not the only game in town guess I'll be checking out Big sky or somewhere else nearby there or maybe go to Gatlinburg next year. I wanted to come back to sliding Rock and rent something on the water but I'd be afraid what I would get would not match the photos they show I feel like that is false advertisement. The gas grill on the back porch I had planned on making burgers on it but they can't even bother to put batteries in it so that you can light it it had plenty of gas just couldn't light it. My roommate said it needed batteries same thing for the lanterns on the table I would like to have used them but they did not have batteries either. For what you charge your guest you could at least put batteries in stuff so that they can use it. Why show a gas grill if it is not where guests can use it. The cabin itself and all the little knick-knacks I but the photos of the outside did not match . You could have avoided this bad review buy a dressing my concerns privately but no you wanted to ignore and block me this is what happens when you choose to ignore and block your guest then I'll review I did elsewhere they basically came on there and called me a liar.

The property was well appointed and our room named The Vineyard Suite featured the most comfortable bed and sitting area with a spa style bathroom with large walk in shower and claw foot soaking tub. We took advantage of the home cooked Filet Mignon dinner which allowed us to get to know the property and the owners. The meal was delicious and with the homes great room area with soaring windows allowing you to take in the natural surroundings it was perfect! The covered lanai was perfect for enjoying a glass of wine or cup of coffee and watching the humming birds fly around their feeders. Breakfast was another wonderful experience chef style creations and delicious coffees. I highly recommend the bourbon infused one. A short walk across the lawn takes you to their winery, Carin Winery with a comfortable feel, large wrap around porch, large air conditioned space with tables and bar and a great selection of wine, beer and snacks. They even have rooms above the winery space, too. This would make a great place for a family reunion or couples get away. The two weeping willow trees on the property are not only an ideal backdrop but inspire one of their wines also. The location while secluded but is convenient to Ellijay, Amicalola State Park, neighboring wineries, waterfalls and adventures. We'll be back!

Don't forget to take advantage of the Carin winery next door, and I hear (we missed out) the lodge offers an add on steak dinner (plan in advance) that sounds divine, and in that environment, will be on our list for our next visit! The lodge itself is well-appointed with a beautiful seating/gathering/eating area downstairs. Breakfast was great with a menu of French toast and apple bake, sausage, fresh fruit, orange juice and some of the best flavored coffee I've had in a LONG time (bourbon infused pecan). There is no complimentary breakfast, only a restaurant you can order from.

There was barely any padding between the wire frame and the sheets. - The advertised breakfast is not an included buffet, but an à la carte menu. Most items are in the $11-$18 range. The main problems with the hotel seem to be due to age. Although the service is great and the lobby is lovely, the outdated rooms with old furniture and fixtures are due for an update.
