This place needs to be condemned. The paint is a violent yellow/green that's cracking, the shower has black mold and the smell of overwhelming cleaning supplies to cover up the mold is horrendous. We found cockroaches in the bathroom and the carpet was sticky. We are all for an old budget friendly hotel but this one is unsafe and a health concern. DO NOT believe the photos on their posting. Also the pool has been closed for years. I wouldn't spend $20 here let alone the $200 we got charged. The owner was rude and disrespectful when we kindly asked for a refund. It is most definitely an intentional scam. Save your money and sanity and go to the comfort inn or anywhere else. read more

I booked this motel (it is NOT IN ANY WAY an inn or suite, perhaps a traveling drug dealer's weekend stop with an 8x7 seating area. Walls are a shocking shade of green, bath is a shocking shade of yellow. A horrendous room deodorizer hangs in the air and does not dissipate ( you will see the black mold in the photo, I think the deodorizer was to cover the smell). Low ceilings. All employees hung out in the parking lot. ALL of them. You had to go find them for service. I was treated like an alien at the front desk. He wouldn't speak clearly, just kind of mumbled weird answers at me. No WiFi. Exterior is like a Stephen King motel. Creepy AF I explained to what I think was the manger that I was. We were not given a room as requested and this place is a dump. We refused the room and requested our money back. The office people do not speak English and refused to refund our money for 4 nights. The manager and employees were laughing and saying they were keeping all our money even though we didn't stay one night. we were exhausted from a long drive to Blue Ridge and saw the Douglas Inn so decided to stop and stay the night. The room was bright green and red. The bathroom looked iffy. The bed we had felt like Columbus slept there it was so lumpy. we were there in the middle of June and the pool was solid green. we got up early for the advertised breakfast but when we got to the office there was nothing but coffee and a few pieces of fruit. my husband wanted the last orange juice container but when he went to open it noticed the date was from March of this year. when he put it back the owner yelled at him that there wasn't anything wrong with it. we weren't taking any chances and left. wouldn't recommend this place to anyone read more

I visit Blue Ridge 2-3 times a year. Have stayed at 4 different hotels while there. Douglas Inn is by far the best out them all. The room, the office, breakfast area, pool were all clean. I did not use the laundry room to give any review. they do have an iron and board to use if needed. The location is great. right downtown and close to everything. Sue's hamburgers which has been around for ever is in walking distance, the tourist trap shops are just down the road. I had been trying to get this place for a couple years now so book early. ALSO the price that I got was $87. a night but with taxes and Georgia's luxury tax (that is on every hotel) it came to $101. when looking keep that in mind . Went to visit our daughter and do some white water rafting. Only place we could get a room (the last one!) was Douglas Inn and Suites. It had good reviews so we booked it... reluctantly. We normally stay in Hilton or Marriott Hotels. Happily surprised by the check in process and the cleanliness. Very nice and well kept. read more

No Pets. After the clerk swiped my credit card he sternly told me, "No pets". It was 10 PM Friday night, we stayed at Douglas Inn before with pets. When I questioned him he said "new management. You will get refund in the morning." We had no where to go as my elderly mother could not climb steps, and the 3 other places either didn't take pets(1 told me that Douglas Inn accepts pets), or was way above our budget. We had to drive all the way back home in the rain to Tucker. Getting back home at 1:30 in the morning. Our trip was ruined. We did not get the refund until 4 days later after calling repeatedly. Why couldn't we have been updated about the new management no pet policy when making the reservation? Devon needs to learn customer service, he is awful on the phone. Well most of these reviews must have been prior to the new ownership. The room was clean but the smell of room air freshener was gagging! When I made the reservations I asked if it was within walking distance to the train depot downtown and I was told yes. Well it's not really possible to walk from the hotel to downtown there are so many major streets with no sidewalks. We were locked out of our room several times because the key wouldn't work and the owner was getting a little aggravated with us. We had a cracked toilet seat and I asked on Saturday while we were out if they could replace it....came back to the room and it was not replaced. Went to the office and he said he has no one to fix it until Monday. He came to our room and put tape over it!!!! If you can't change a toilet seat you should not own a hotel!! Surprisingly clean and in great shape. Was not expecting much. Stayed overnight in blue ridge on a whim. All traditional hotels in area booked. We grabbed this and happy w choice. Not expecting a spa atmosphere is the best attitude. It was clean, safe and quiet. Not a bad choice for a place to lay your head. 4 stars for the room, super clean and welcoming. Great location and close to everything. 3 stars for check-in procedures. I didn't realize it was 'leaf looking' season and arrived with no reservation. Got a room no problem but was told only 1 night available. While looking for next night online found they had an opening and booked online. Went to desk and had to work it out with person there. Change of rooms but no problem for a single traveler. Just wonder why when I walked up to desk they couldn't give me a room for two nights. Everything is online now. Would return with an advanced booking. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE -- BEWARE OF THE OWNER AND HIS LIES !!!! The owner refuses to give guests his name or show his business license. My husband and I stayed one night and had a family emergency so had to leave early. We advised the owner at about 6PM the first night we were there that we would need to check out early the next morning and did so about 7AM. At the time we checked out the owner said he would credit us for the two nights we did not stay and charge us for only one night. After checking our credit card the credit was not done. We called the hotel and spoke to a clerk and was told we have to speak with the owner. We called and spoke to the owner and he said "lady we are keeping your money" and refused to give us the promised credit. read more

I enjoyed the cleanliness of the room and it even had a new feel about it. The soft extra blanket on the bed was so cozy and warm that I went and bought one like it. I also like how quickly you could get to Blue Ridge from it yet it was in a quiet area. The selection offered for the continental breakfast also good. I also like how the owner resolved a discount issue that her employee was too disinterested to fix. The only thing I didn't like was the lack of customer service skills of the girl that checked us in and how small the restroom was (glad I'm not claustrophobic). read more

I'm only giving this 1 star because it won't allow a lower rating. This is the absolute worst place I've ever been. We were looking for a place to stay while having some work done on our home. We live across the state line in NC. The lady I had dealings with was Leah (owner) which she sent me an email after I requested rates. The rate she quoted on the email and over the phone was 79.00 per night. I also record all my calls on my phone so I have that as well.( She stated on the call 79.00 as well) We got there that night and her granddaughter is the one who checked us in. We went to our room and when we opened the door it was so horrible with a smoke smell and just a stuffiness.(I'm allergic to everything under the sun) We walked to the bed and in between the beds were a pile of toenail clippings! I turned away from the bed and just happen to see a couple of roaches crawl across the wall!! My husband took photos. We immediately went to the clerk and she put us in another room. It was cleaner and smelled better. During the night I look over and about 5 roaches crawled across the wall near the bathroom. My husband again took photos. We checked out that morning(after no sleep) Leah was there and we told her what happened and showed her the photos and thought she would've at least gave us a discount or something for our troubles but she didn't. That's ok though at least we made her aware of the issue. Got home and was checking my bank account online and realized she charged us 115.00 instead of what she told me. We called her told her we had the email and the conversation on the phone and she said still that we were lying!! She did not want to speak with us after that but was a very fussy and rude older lady that has no business even owning her own business. We also saw the people that clean for her and realized that's part of the problem. It's a riff raff motel is all and I'd never stay here again. I wouldn't even allow my dogs to be at a place like this! VERY CLEAN rooms !! Last minute trip to Blue Ridge to tour the Mericer Apple Farm and I'm searching for a place to stay. We found the Douglas Inn and Suites through a google search and reserved a room. Two hours later I realize we will be arrive around midnight so I call to let the hotel know we are still coming in. Sweet lady answers (I woke her up) she tells me my reservations had been canceled but she has a room that is $30 more. We arrive at the hotel 15 minutes later and she found the original reservation plus gave us the cheaper price for the nicer room. When we come back to visit we will be staying at Douglas Inn again. Extremely clean rooms, updated recently, and was a good price. The three people running the hotel we met were very nice and provided some great info about the area. The hotel is dog friendly but other than seeing a couple of people walking them at the far ends of the property, I wouldn't have noticed. I highly recommend staying here and we'll be back for he next trip to Blue Ridge. read more

!!!!!!!!! CUSTOMERS BEWARE !!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!! An ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE !!!!!!!!! 10/18/2018 Douglas Inn & Suites in Blue Ridge, GA. Our reservations were made via telephone approximately a month prior to our "stay". We spoke directly to the staff when making the reservation and informed them that we would be arriving late to check in around 1am and I was informed there is a clerk working at all times to check guests in. We spoke with the staff on 3 separate occasions before our trip. We traveled from the Pensacola, FL area with my wife, 4 & 2yo sons to ride the Blue Ridge Train the next morning. We arrived at Douglas Inn at 12:45am and attempted to check in our "reserved" room. After several attempts to have someone come to the office door, the clerk said they had no rooms available even after I showed the reservation/confirmation # print out. He was extremely rude and short! I was at a loss for words, we were all tired and just wanted to sleep. The clerk did't offer any assistance calling or recommending a hotel nearby. After I voiced my "concerns and frustration", I called the surrounding hotels and nothing was available. We had to drive to the next town (approx 25 minutes) and rent a room for 80$ more. !!!! DO NOT RISK YOUR FAMILY VACATION STARTING OUT LIKE OURS DID!!! read more

As travel agents on the move, we always look for the best deals, the most comfortable and clean and accommodating places to rest our heads at the day's end. We had our doubts but those doubts were put to rest right away. Though we didn't get a great Travel Agent rate, we did get good service. The Douglas Inn and Suites has both rooms and suites. We walked into our room and it was a bit outdated, but cleaner than the last place we we stayed, it was fresh, sparkling and spotless. a mini fridge, microwave and comfortable beds. Even the pavement and walkways were cleaner than I have ever seen anywhere. Miss Leah Rock, the General Manager told me it took ten days for the company to clean the sidewalks and lot, but I felt I could walk barefoot on that parking lot and the sidewalks. She is also putting in a new breakfast room, which will be ready in a couple of months. Then, you will get a wonderful continental breakfast on top of all that cleanliness and Southern Hospitality. For a small privately owned Motel, it was truly a great experience. We will return here next hear for the fall colors and we hope to see Miss Leah Rock still at the helm, making this place wonderful. read more

Wasn't sure what to expect because I'm used to staying with major hotel chains. I was a little nervous when my wife and I pulled in and there is a 6' chainlink fence and gate around the entire property. However, we had no issues with security while we were here, and honestly, I have no idea why there was fencing to begin with because it's not in a bad area. I was very pleasantly surprised at the accommodations. We got a king suite, which had a complete kitchen, livingroom, and separate bedroom with full bath. Mattress was a little hard for my tastes, but I still slept well. One interesting point of note, the bed was an actual bed, with a real frame, headboard, and footboard, not the typical 'hotel bed' with faux headboard and a floor mounted frame. Things like that impress me and indicate the owners care about their guests feeling 'at home.' It was very tastefully furnished, with a comfortable country style quilt and very nice pillows. We slept very peacefully and were not disturbed by any loud noises or other guests in adjacent suites. Pricing was very reasonable for the area and the front desk staff was also excellent. The *only* complaint I have is that the hot water ran out halfway through my shower, but I think that may be because my wife took a very long shower before I did, so I won't hold that against them. We booked our first wedding anniversary trip via their online website and arrived on the scheduled arrival date, after receiving our confirmation from the inn. We were greeted and told there was no record of our reservation in the computer. The kind woman behind the desk allowed me to see the lack of reservation myself and told me "this happens all the time". She then phoned the owner of the inn, who owns another property down the street. He stated that there was nothing that he could do for us, he had no additional rooms at either property, but stated that he would check into it further and call back. 45 minutes later the woman behind the desk told us to drive to the other location where the owner was, as it did not appear that he was going to call back. We arrived and the owner mad zero attempts to apologize for not calling us back, for the lack of reservation, or for the inconvenience it was causing us. He had zero remorse whatsoever and blamed us for not calling to make a reservation, when it is his website that we utilized to make an online reservation. The owner was rude, callous, and did not offer to make any reparations for the inconvenience that his establishment caused us. We have reported him to the Better Business Bureau and want to keep others from encountering the same issues. read more

I am very disappointed in Douglas inn & suites. Our car broke down after driving all the way up from Tampa Florida. We called immediately when our car broke down, Which was hours before we where even allowed in our room. They originally told us that they where sorry we couldn't make it and that they would cancel our reservations. We just received a call 6 hours after we called and canceled and they told us that they will charge us for one night even though we called in advance, got the okay from them that we were unable to make it, and they decided to call back and tell us they where going to CHARGE us for this room. On the website itself there is no policy that states we needed to call 24 hours in advance. If we new our vehicle was going to brake down on the way we obviously would have called. Not only where they telling us that they would be charging us MORE that what the original price was. I do not recommend this place. I would choose any other hotel in the area. read more
