I loved the rustic look of this place. I read that it had been recently bought out and redone. It still needs a few minor details touched up, but it was OK. My only complaint was with only four people staying in the motel. They grouped us altogether next to each other and we could hear too much noise. One guy even tried to get into our room by mistake. It is conveniently located in town near restaurants and grocery stores. Plenty of parking and seating outdoors if you want to hang out around the fire pit. The manager/owner is a thief! I showed up to check in April 2nd and there was no reservation for me. I booked it through Hotels.com in March. I told the manager well someone's charging bank account and he screamed "well it isn't me", after a bit of a shouting match back and forth, mind you, we'd been driving for 8 hours, now exhausted and completely pissed off with no room reservation, I asked him if we could get a room or not he screamed no get out or I'll call the police. We left, got a nice room at the Hampton down the street, looked at my bank account the next day and my room rate of $105.57 was taken out of my bank for a "canceled reservation". I'm not sure how I could've canceled my reservation if I didn't exist in their system!!!! People need to read the reviews of this place and believe them! I'll get my money back one way or another! We needed first floor accommodations for health reasons and they were able have our 3 rooms together ( sold out). First, when you advertise you have a pool, spa, etc....you are expected to have it. When you go and you find all are not functioning, that is a big disappointment. PLEASE BEWARE OF THIS PLACE! Upon arrival to the "Lodge", the office area was fairly clean, so our anxiety subsided a little. Once we checked into the room, instant PANIC ATTACK! We were met with the stinch smell of FECES! After investigating and trying to determine where the smell was coming from, I lifted the comforter up and there sat, what appeared to be the biggest man-made TURD I had ever seen! There didn't seem to be a lot of options extremely close to downtown Blue Ridge. This place seemed to be among the closest and not too expensive. We booked a 2-night stay in early November. Structurally, this place is built like your average Hampton Inn. However, they've done the interior (and mostly the exterior also) to give it more of a mountain lodge feel. There is a lot of stained wood paneling, 'rustic'-esque light fixtures, etc. There's only so far you can transform a basic hotel/motel, but they struck a good balance between superficiality and going over-the-top. The room was fine; the walls seemed a bit thin; we could hear TVs in adjoining rooms sometimes, etc. But no major complaints. The bed was comfortable. WiFi was dependable. We had the free breakfast both days. The only issue here is that the 'dining area' is also the lobby / check-in area. There are only 2 - 3 small tables and one large table here. The first day, it was standing-room only due to some tour-bus group checking out and eating there. The second day, it was completely fine (only one other couple). And you can always take the food back to the room. The hotel is about a 5 - 7 minute drive from downtown Blue Ridge. The only closer options appeared to be one B&B in town plus a few rooms that you could rent out (maybe over shops?). The other options were not as easy to book remotely. And I'm not sure what the noise is like staying in-town with live music at some of the restaurants / bars. If I go back to Blue Ridge, I'd consider staying here again. read more

So my daughter and I came here on a planned trip by an event planner. I can start off by saying that this hotel is definitely not the caliber that I am use to. For starters (and the pictures will show) the phone was disgustingly filthy, the pillowcases and sheets had hair on them, the lamp shade on the inside had a splash substance on the inside of it, the shower curtain was pink and red and nasty at the bottom, i took it off before i got a picture of that. This morning when I got up I also noticed a small roach on the floor in the bathroom. Also when I was sanitizing the room I went to wipe off the handles on the sink and one of them came off... it still works but what hello???? Also whenever I walked into the room it smelled like an older man had just been laying done in there. My nose was flooded with the scent of old spice. This hotel was amazing. It has everything! Although it was conveniently located near downtown, it was a very quiet and peaceful hotel. The amenities were great, especially the Keurig machine with pods in the room. The rustic accents really put it over the top for us. Great prices, great service, and a great experience! Just tell them you'll be staying at the Roach Ridden Lodge. Absolute filth. We had to ask for cleaning supplies and trash bags to bag all of our belongings up in the room for the night and check in to another hotel the next day, causing us to cancel our plans for that day and pay a premium for an available room at nicer hotel. Then they charged us for the supplies and two nights, one in which we didn't stay because we couldn't even move without seeing cockroaches running all over the place. Don't do it. read more

Just needed a one night stay, and this place had a room and an above average review history, so I chose. I'll try to keep positive. They have beds. Safe parking. Otherwise... - Although clean by appearance, time for carpet attention in corners where visible dust accumulates and bright blue cording dropped by a previous guest may get lost. - Tub didn't drain, so feet (and ankles) receive a nice soak during a shower. And towels are rough enough to exfoliate. A true spa experience. - Wood frame lodge like construction, which was tipped off in name, allows for tv sound to travel through walls. Don't stay here! I stayed three (3) nights in mid October 2020 and due to a clerical error, I was charged for four (4) nights at $122.80 per night. Numerous calls, messages and emails to their staff and ownership have not resulted in my receiving a credit for the one (1) night I am owed. This was one of the stranger hotel stays I've had. First off...don't be misled; it is not a "lodge". It is an old hotel that has been remodeled. I will say they did a great job with the "lodge" look when they remodeled. I did know this going into my stay...so not like it was a surprise or anything. Although it seems there were a couple of things that they didn't update. My mattress was obviously pretty old and very uncomfortable. The sheets were threadbare and needed replacing long ago. Also, the in-wall heating/ac unit seemed to have a mind of its own. For the price of the room I would expect a better mattress, linens and heating/ac unit. My room was near the lobby and about 12:30 I was awoken by loud talking. I first assumed it was a TV from a neighboring room but realized it was people talking in the lobby. I ended up having to get dressed and go out to the lobby and ask them to quiet down. It was the overnight desk clerk talking to an apparent friend of his...very loudly. I find that funny since their rules say "quiet time" starts at 10pm. I will say the younger desk clerk that checked me in and out was very nice and efficient. And the whole place looked very clean. I stayed here for two nights as all other hotels were booked solid. My sister-in-law and I rode into Blue Ridge to take the scenic train ride. The location to the train is excellent. The hotel is not. It is not a lodge only remodeled to have the appearance of one. The room was very damp feeling as was the carpet in our room. Beds had the typical two flat sheets and a very thin "county" quilt. Even with heat on I still had to get up and put on my heavy sweater to sleep in. No extra blankets were provided. There is a mini fridge but no microwave so you have to go down to the lobby. It's two floors. We were on the second. There is no elevator so we had to drag out luggage up the staircase. The wood floors of the second level are very creeky and noisy as well as the stairs and in my opinion the flooring needs replacing. Very old. The coffee in the morning is decent. Typical continental breakfast provided. The lobby is quite small. Now for cleanliness. The bathroom was filthy. The tub had a layer of soap scum around it that would choke a horse and had buildup all down the walls and on the fixtures. We did not shower our first night there. When I took the "sanitary wrap" from the toilet the seat lifted up and to my surprise there was used tp in the bowl and nasty poop stains under the seat and the bowl also had a huge amount of mildew build up where the water flows from. We literally had to clean our own toilet before we could use it. The clerks were nice but they don't go out of their way. They both looked absolutely miserable. I think it was probably one of the only jobs in town for them. The bathroom sink also had mildew build up around the rim. The mirrors in the room itself were also filthy. We wrote "clean me" on one of the mirrors in the dust and grime. Mattresses are old. Expect no comfort. I actually pulled all the linens off my bed and inspected for bed bugs. I didn't find any but I shouldn't have felt the need to look if you know what I mean. The owner is uncooperative we were told by other guests that were also down in the lobby complaining the next day about their rooms as well. He refuses to refund or even give comps to make up for what is obviously substandard standards on his part. Someone needs to buy him a dictionary so he can look up the definition of "hospitality". So my suggestion is if you can stay anywhere else do so. Only use this place as a last resort. The name should actually be changed to "The Last Resort Lodge". We are currently disputing our charges with our credit card company. We booked using Booking.com and have made them aware of this experience. Emails have also been sent to the owner as well and more likely than not we will probably never hear from him. His own staff told us as much. Never ever again. I'm giving two stars because it was clean and the front desk attendant was super kind and polite, but other than that I would not stay here again. The bed was awful and not comfortable at all. My husband and I didn't get any rest. The pillows were flat and the bed was hard. I think I slept for a total of two hours because my back actually started hurting and it hurts today. I checked in at 10:00 pm from a long sixteen plus hour work day. It's now 2:58 am and I still haven't gotten any sleep due to the constant noises! These noises consist of the following. 1) The guy snoring in the room directly across from my beds headboard. 2) The constant crashing of ice from the ice making machine. 3) The twenty three times so far that I've heard a loud door bell ring as people enter and exit the building. 4) The nonstop squealing noises coming from the pipes above my room. I have one hours worth of audio to confirm, but there's no way for me to post it on here. 5) The nonstop noises coming from what sounds like air bubbles coming from the toilet bowl. What that said, if you're trying to get some sleep, make sure you bring a pair of ear plugs, or a pair of noise canceling headphones. read more

This hotel is off the main highway, but very nice. They even have a outdoor fire pit (the staff has to start the fire and put the wood on) and it very nice to have the nice overlook of the area. This place has a rustic feel and the smell of pine woods are in the hallways. The rooms are decent size and beds comfortable. Its not your marriott but its a good second. Was in town for a weekend and stayed here. I wasn't familiar with it and was a little concerned but most other "nice" places were booked. Reid Ridge is an updated and converted former Days Inn or something along those lines. They did a nice job and I would say the rooms are rustic-modern...is that a style? Everything about the rooms has been updated and they put stylish knotty pine boards on all the walls. I know, that sounds like an oxymoron but it's true. Go to their website and look at a few pictures to see what I mean. The room was quiet and the bed was comfy. I read some reviews on other sites that raved about this place and I thought they seemed a little over-the-top. It's a solid 3-stars for the area but is more expensive then some of the other close-in-quality options. read more

Cute little hotel, friendly staff. Rooms were clean enough and comfortable. Breakfast was simple but plenty for my husband and I (cereal, bagels, pastries, yogurt, fruit...). However, if there is ANYTHING I can say it would me-- BRING EARPLUGS. They should really hand them out at check in this hotel is so loud. Not only can you hear every voice in the hallway (including small children early in the morning) and your neighbor's TV through the wall at night, but the doors to the rooms have no soft close feature and they SLAM when someone goes in or out. Not to mention the "convenience store chime" of the outside door that you can hear from your room every time someone comes or goes. Not kidding-- invest in earplugs or you WILL NOT SLEEP. I would also consider this factor if you have an infant or toddler that you don't want to be woken up all night. Honestly, besides the noise, we have no real complaint. read more

They really try hard with the amenities, but there's nothing they can do about the building itself. It's a small place that was probably a hotel/motel and they've done a lot of work to renovate it. I think hard wood floors would be the next step, because the carpet in our room was very dirty. Additionally, when we first went to use the bathroom... there was... splatter. and dried up urine. We were on our way out, so we told the person at the front desk. When we got back, they seemed to have cleaned up, but it still felt very gross. Really great hotel value here. We got a standard king room for $99 and so we didn't expect much. However, the walls are all done in beautiful wood wainscoting and trim. The room was clean. Mattress and bedding were very good but bath towels were small and rough. The bathroom was clean, fresh, and looks to have been recently updated. The in-room Keurig with Dunkin' Donuts coffee pods and real coffee mugs was a wonderful touch. Breakfast was simple continental fare, no frills.
