This is going to be a long read, but worth it if you want a true detailed review. First, I would like to say that Expedia was misleading with their "8.0 Very Good" rating of the Reid Ridge Lodge. I don't know where they got those ratings from, but they're wrong. We made a last-minute reservation because we were traveling and needed a place to stay. I saw Expedia's rating & thought it looked like it had a nice cabin-like feel from the pictures. The listing showed only 1 king bed available (a suite), so I went with it. Then, I got on Google/Yelp & started looking more into the hotel, and I was instantly regretting my booking. I should have checked before booking but it was the only king bed available, so I felt rushed. When we arrived, the very first thing we smelled upon walking through the door is an overpowering pungent odor of cleaning chemicals (which is also reported in MANY other reviews). There was a small seating area where they serve breakfast in the morning. I cannot comment on the breakfast because we did not eat it. The hotel clerk was nice and got us checked in quickly. She advised our room was on the 2nd floor, "up the stairs", & was "the only room like this one". We proceed up a flight of stairs (no elevator) of the most awful 1990s looking skating rink carpet. The odor slapped you in the face all the way to the room. At first glance, the room looked decent (other than the smell). There was a living room with a loveseat, small bar with sink & mini fridge, & then the bedroom/bathroom were through another doorway. The smoke detector in the living room was missing the batteries, and left wide open. The knob for the a/c was also missing from the living room a/c (also reported in other reviews of missing a/c knobs). The room was hot when we arrived, so we turned on both a/c units (one in each room - living/bedroom) & were going to relax before heading out for dinner. As we lay there, on a concrete mattress, we couldn't get past the odor & decided to leave for a while. My nose was literally burning. We went & bought Febreze. We took our time at dinner, hoping the room would be cool when we got back, only to discover the a/c unit in the living room was not working & was blowing warm air (even though the broken knob was set to cold). By this time, it's late, we are tired and the listing showed no other king rooms available. Now we have to block the doorway (there was no door separating the rooms) to keep the cool air in the bedroom. I find a blanket in the closet. Now we need to figure out how to pin it on the doorway. When lo & behold someone else had to do THE SAME THING & there was already a thumbtack in the door frame waiting to be used. The bathroom was small & had a nice countertop & decent bathtub. However, it was not the bathtub advertised in the listing & pictures when I booked - it was supposed to have a garden bathtub. This room just had a standard tub. There was what appeared to be nicotine stains from the 1990s seeping through the frame of the bathroom door. It was gross. The mattress was so hard it was like sleeping on bricks. We did not sleep all night, & woke up sore & achy, with no rest to continue our travels. We couldn't check out of the hotel fast enough. Disappointed is an understatement. For the cost of the room ($207 per night), I expected at least a working a/c, comfortable bed & to be able to breathe. If you want the nostalgia of a 1990s family-owned American hotel, complete with the original carpeting & odor, then this is the place for you. If you want a sketchy, mafia style vibe, this is the place for you. Tell the owner his corvette was pretty parked outside the front door, but he should have invested in new carpeting & odor eliminator instead. Upon reading other reviews, and the owners disrespectful, rude responses to negative reviews, it is clear they do not care (telling guests to never come back). How is this place even still in business? Oh, and about an hour after we left, I could still smell the odor of the room on my clothing. Just don't. You'll thank me later. read more

I found pubic hairs and all kinds of hair in my bathtub and in my bedroom so me and my husband decided to go on home, I went to the front desk to ask for my money back and the Indian man, was so rude and hateful to me and did not care at all! I showed him pictur of the hair and he just told me i could go. He started yelling and cussing at me! Don't stay here this is the nastiest place I have ever stayed at and with the meanest employee! read more

I loved the rustic look of this place. I read that it had been recently bought out and redone. It still needs a few minor details touched up, but it was OK. My only complaint was with only four people staying in the motel. They grouped us altogether next to each other and we could hear too much noise. One guy even tried to get into our room by mistake. It is conveniently located in town near restaurants and grocery stores. Plenty of parking and seating outdoors if you want to hang out around the fire pit. Small breakfast choices of fruit and muffins in the lobby. But the coffee in the lobby and in the room were awful. read more

Many of the reviews indicated a horrible time. This was not our experience. The room was seemingly clean. The toilet water was discolored, but I am given to believe this is normal for the mountain lodgings, as I have seen this at other locations in the area. The desk associate was courteous and helpful. Breakfast was limited. Experience was as expected for the price paid. Would stay here again. read more

We were visiting Blue Ridge and found this gem tucked away from the center of town. The management and staff were friendly and helpful. We needed first floor accommodations for health reasons and they were able have our 3 rooms together ( sold out). Unfortunately, the fire pit is no longer in use because someone threw in a antique relic. Simple free breakfast is available for those wanting to get an early start.. read more

This hotel needs to be torn down! Black mold was quite prevalent in the bathroom; see the photos below. The walls were paper thin and conversations could be heard! The manager/owner is a thief! I showed up to check in April 2nd and there was no reservation for me. I booked it through Hotels.com in March. I told the manager well someone's charging bank account and he screamed "well it isn't me", after a bit of a shouting match back and forth, mind you, we'd been driving for 8 hours, now exhausted and completely pissed off with no room reservation, I asked him if we could get a room or not he screamed no get out or I'll call the police. We left, got a nice room at the Hampton down the street, looked at my bank account the next day and my room rate of $105.57 was taken out of my bank for a "canceled reservation". I'm not sure how I could've canceled my reservation if I didn't exist in their system!!!! People need to read the reviews of this place and believe them! I'll get my money back one way or another! This clown has no business being in hospitality, he has no compassion, no empathy no interpersonal skills and no personality! Stay clear of this place and again, read the reviews! We dodged a bullet not staying there, God knows what critters or diseases we would've brought home! Now give me my money back you thief!!!! read more

First, when you advertise you have a pool, spa, etc....you are expected to have it. When you go and you find all are not functioning, that is a big disappointment. Second, continenal breakfast, it more than a bagel, or apple, and coffee. It also was a huge disappointment. The building needs some desparate TLC. I am being nice. Staff was nice enough, they can't help what owners apparently are not interested in taking care of the investments. Lastly, my sister and I were there for 3 days, there was only one other guest. That should tell the owners something is going on. read more

For the most part you get what you paid for there is definitely some update that needs to be done but for a quick stay not to bad. The female receptionist is very sweet and did her best to accommodate any issues. The owner on the other hand is a different story he is rude dismissive and could not be bothered. I was charged more the hotel thN my 3rd party booking site said I would. When I asked the owner why ? His answer was if was $100 difference he would investing but for $10 he cannot be bothered. 10 or 100 its still my money. Because of how he spoke to my self and other guess when ever something was asked why not up to standard.. would not recommend read more

PLEASE BEWARE OF THIS PLACE! Upon arrival to the "Lodge", the office area was fairly clean, so our anxiety subsided a little. Once we checked into the room, instant PANIC ATTACK! We were met with the stinch smell of FECES! After investigating and trying to determine where the smell was coming from, I lifted the comforter up and there sat, what appeared to be the biggest man-made TURD I had ever seen! Also, approximately 30 flies began circling around it. It was reported and we packed up our belongings and came straight home! Will never visit Blue Reid Ridge Mountains ever again!!!!! read more

There didn't seem to be a lot of options extremely close to downtown Blue Ridge. This place seemed to be among the closest and not too expensive. We booked a 2-night stay in early November. Structurally, this place is built like your average Hampton Inn. However, they've done the interior (and mostly the exterior also) to give it more of a mountain lodge feel. There is a lot of stained wood paneling, 'rustic'-esque light fixtures, etc. There's only so far you can transform a basic hotel/motel, but they struck a good balance between superficiality and going over-the-top. The room was fine; the walls seemed a bit thin; we could hear TVs in adjoining rooms sometimes, etc. But no major complaints. The bed was comfortable. WiFi was dependable. We had the free breakfast both days. The only issue here is that the 'dining area' is also the lobby / check-in area. There are only 2 - 3 small tables and one large table here. The first day, it was standing-room only due to some tour-bus group checking out and eating there. The second day, it was completely fine (only one other couple). And you can always take the food back to the room. The hotel is about a 5 - 7 minute drive from downtown Blue Ridge. The only closer options appeared to be one B&B in town plus a few rooms that you could rent out (maybe over shops?). The other options were not as easy to book remotely. And I'm not sure what the noise is like staying in-town with live music at some of the restaurants / bars. If I go back to Blue Ridge, I'd consider staying here again. read more

I wish I could leave ZERO stars! This place is a joke! Look them up on Better Business Bureau, they're not accredited and have tons of open cases! There was no hot water while we stayed. Owner was there and played like he was only hired help! Refused any reimbursement said it was technical problem! Kept coming up with excuses and lied repeatedly! So my daughter and I came here on a planned trip by an event planner. I can start off by saying that this hotel is definitely not the caliber that I am use to. For starters (and the pictures will show) the phone was disgustingly filthy, the pillowcases and sheets had hair on them, the lamp shade on the inside had a splash substance on the inside of it, the shower curtain was pink and red and nasty at the bottom, i took it off before i got a picture of that. This morning when I got up I also noticed a small roach on the floor in the bathroom. Also when I was sanitizing the room I went to wipe off the handles on the sink and one of them came off... it still works but what hello???? Also whenever I walked into the room it smelled like an older man had just been laying done in there. My nose was flooded with the scent of old spice. I am over all not pleased with this stay already and I have one more night to go. read more

What a wonderful little hotel/Lodge I am in town to get married (elope) to my Fiancee before he leaves for Korea for a year. He is on recruitment duty for the week so we have to work around that, and we wanted some privacy and decided not to stay at his parents house. I'm very particular when it comes to hotels. Every little thing makes a huge impression on me. So I'm so pleased at the little gem of a hotel. Clean, quiet, welcoming, affordable... The room was so cute and romantic.. I'm just thrilled!! It's made this trip so comfortable, relaxing and romantic for us.. Thank you!! Reid Ridge Lodge!! read more

Just needed a one night stay, and this place had a room and an above average review history, so I chose. I'll try to keep positive. They have beds. Safe parking. Otherwise... - Although clean by appearance, time for carpet attention in corners where visible dust accumulates and bright blue cording dropped by a previous guest may get lost. - Tub didn't drain, so feet (and ankles) receive a nice soak during a shower. And towels are rough enough to exfoliate. A true spa experience. - Wood frame lodge like construction, which was tipped off in name, allows for tv sound to travel through walls. So if you enjoy white noise sleeping, this is a plus. Otherwise, hmm. - Staff is very casual, which may be your thing. If you have higher standards, stay somewhere else. read more

Just tell them you'll be staying at the Roach Ridden Lodge. Absolute filth. We had to ask for cleaning supplies and trash bags to bag all of our belongings up in the room for the night and check in to another hotel the next day, causing us to cancel our plans for that day and pay a premium for an available room at nicer hotel. Then they charged us for the supplies and two nights, one in which we didn't stay because we couldn't even move without seeing cockroaches running all over the place. Don't do it. read more

The hotel outside looks like a big cabin but once you go into it, well let's say it has not be updated since the 70's. Don't stay here! I stayed three (3) nights in mid October 2020 and due to a clerical error, I was charged for four (4) nights at $122.80 per night. Numerous calls, messages and emails to their staff and ownership have not resulted in my receiving a credit for the one (1) night I am owed. This is all in addition to their recognizing their mistake and acknowledging it. By the way, if you want to relax around their outside fire pit, bring your own wood. They don't supply any. read more

This was one of the stranger hotel stays I've had. First off...don't be misled; it is not a "lodge". It is an old hotel that has been remodeled. I will say they did a great job with the "lodge" look when they remodeled. I did know this going into my stay...so not like it was a surprise or anything. Although it seems there were a couple of things that they didn't update. My mattress was obviously pretty old and very uncomfortable. The sheets were threadbare and needed replacing long ago. Also, the in-wall heating/ac unit seemed to have a mind of its own. For the price of the room I would expect a better mattress, linens and heating/ac unit. My room was near the lobby and about 12:30 I was awoken by loud talking. I first assumed it was a TV from a neighboring room but realized it was people talking in the lobby. I ended up having to get dressed and go out to the lobby and ask them to quiet down. It was the overnight desk clerk talking to an apparent friend of his...very loudly. I find that funny since their rules say "quiet time" starts at 10pm. I will say the younger desk clerk that checked me in and out was very nice and efficient. And the whole place looked very clean. Despite the negatives I would stay here again. read more

Reid Ridge Lodge - Reid Ridge Lodge - Hotels Near Me - Blue Ridge, Georgia

I stayed here for two nights as all other hotels were booked solid. My sister-in-law and I rode into Blue Ridge to take the scenic train ride. The location to the train is excellent. The hotel is not. It is not a lodge only remodeled to have the appearance of one. The room was very damp feeling as was the carpet in our room. Beds had the typical two flat sheets and a very thin "county" quilt. Even with heat on I still had to get up and put on my heavy sweater to sleep in. No extra blankets were provided. There is a mini fridge but no microwave so you have to go down to the lobby. It's two floors. We were on the second. There is no elevator so we had to drag out luggage up the staircase. The wood floors of the second level are very creeky and noisy as well as the stairs and in my opinion the flooring needs replacing. Very old. The coffee in the morning is decent. Typical continental breakfast provided. The lobby is quite small. Now for cleanliness. The bathroom was filthy. The tub had a layer of soap scum around it that would choke a horse and had buildup all down the walls and on the fixtures. We did not shower our first night there. When I took the "sanitary wrap" from the toilet the seat lifted up and to my surprise there was used tp in the bowl and nasty poop stains under the seat and the bowl also had a huge amount of mildew build up where the water flows from. We literally had to clean our own toilet before we could use it. The clerks were nice but they don't go out of their way. They both looked absolutely miserable. I think it was probably one of the only jobs in town for them. The bathroom sink also had mildew build up around the rim. The mirrors in the room itself were also filthy. We wrote "clean me" on one of the mirrors in the dust and grime. Mattresses are old. Expect no comfort. I actually pulled all the linens off my bed and inspected for bed bugs. I didn't find any but I shouldn't have felt the need to look if you know what I mean. The owner is uncooperative we were told by other guests that were also down in the lobby complaining the next day about their rooms as well. He refuses to refund or even give comps to make up for what is obviously substandard standards on his part. Someone needs to buy him a dictionary so he can look up the definition of "hospitality". So my suggestion is if you can stay anywhere else do so. Only use this place as a last resort. The name should actually be changed to "The Last Resort Lodge". We are currently disputing our charges with our credit card company. We booked using Booking.com and have made them aware of this experience. Emails have also been sent to the owner as well and more likely than not we will probably never hear from him. His own staff told us as much. Never ever again. Truly a sad sad excuse of a hotel. read more

I'm giving two stars because it was clean and the front desk attendant was super kind and polite, but other than that I would not stay here again. The bed was awful and not comfortable at all. My husband and I didn't get any rest. The pillows were flat and the bed was hard. I think I slept for a total of two hours because my back actually started hurting and it hurts today. I checked in at 10:00 pm from a long sixteen plus hour work day. It's now 2:58 am and I still haven't gotten any sleep due to the constant noises! These noises consist of the following. 1) The guy snoring in the room directly across from my beds headboard. 2) The constant crashing of ice from the ice making machine. 3) The twenty three times so far that I've heard a loud door bell ring as people enter and exit the building. 4) The nonstop squealing noises coming from the pipes above my room. I have one hours worth of audio to confirm, but there's no way for me to post it on here. 5) The nonstop noises coming from what sounds like air bubbles coming from the toilet bowl. What that said, if you're trying to get some sleep, make sure you bring a pair of ear plugs, or a pair of noise canceling headphones. read more

Was in town for a weekend and stayed here. I wasn't familiar with it and was a little concerned but most other "nice" places were booked. Reid Ridge is an updated and converted former Days Inn or something along those lines. They did a nice job and I would say the rooms are rustic-modern...is that a style? Everything about the rooms has been updated and they put stylish knotty pine boards on all the walls. I know, that sounds like an oxymoron but it's true. Go to their website and look at a few pictures to see what I mean. The room was quiet and the bed was comfy. I read some reviews on other sites that raved about this place and I thought they seemed a little over-the-top. It's a solid 3-stars for the area but is more expensive then some of the other close-in-quality options. read more

Cute little hotel, friendly staff. Rooms were clean enough and comfortable. Breakfast was simple but plenty for my husband and I (cereal, bagels, pastries, yogurt, fruit...). However, if there is ANYTHING I can say it would me-- BRING EARPLUGS. They should really hand them out at check in this hotel is so loud. Not only can you hear every voice in the hallway (including small children early in the morning) and your neighbor's TV through the wall at night, but the doors to the rooms have no soft close feature and they SLAM when someone goes in or out. Not to mention the "convenience store chime" of the outside door that you can hear from your room every time someone comes or goes. Not kidding-- invest in earplugs or you WILL NOT SLEEP. I would also consider this factor if you have an infant or toddler that you don't want to be woken up all night. Honestly, besides the noise, we have no real complaint. read more
