This is my first review for this particular Hampton, but we've stayed here a couple of times in the…read morepast. We enjoy the Scenic Railway in Blue Ridge and really, if you're doing the 4 hour train ride, staying here is just the best option because of the location. The staff is friendly and the rooms are clean. One of my favorite things about the room is how many charging outlets there are. Some of the rooms also face the train, which is a nice view. Just note, the rooms that say "balcony" are not the typical hotel balcony with chairs. It's just a small step. Sadly, I don't have a picture. Breakfast is typical Hampton breakfast, with waffle makers, omelettes, sausage, oatmeal, fruit, and yogurt. Parking is closed off for hotel customers only (probably to keep out train customers who aren't staying at the hotel), but if you book on the app, your digital key will open the gate for you. There's also a $14.96 parking fee per stay (not per night) added to your total. Overall, great location for the Scenic Railway and highly recommend if you're in the Blue Ridge area.

We went to Hampton Inn Blue Ridge's restaurant, called Hook & Eye, and was hoping/expecting to be…read moreallowed in the parking area to use the EV chargers. When we pulled up to the gated parking, we were told (with a seriously b**chy tone) that it's "only for guests of the hotel." and I said "but we are guests of the hotel, just not staying in the rooms." they still said no. after I parked and we went inside, I went and asked the front desk again for clarity, and the answer was the same. when I pointed out nobody was using the chargers, he said it was "hotel policy" and there was nothing he could do. here's the thing: I get you have policies. I also get you want to have some control over who's allowed in your car park. but the restaurant is situated *in your hotel* (not next door, or adjacent... on the top floor) so y'all need to have a conversation about what it means to be a "guest" at your "hotel" and if that includes the restaurant. the irony here is that, had that interaction gone better, I would have bookmarked this hotel as a potential place to stay with my family and charge my vehicle. but that will not happen now. I never expected Hampton Inn folks in Blue Ridge to be nasty and rude, but hey... live and learn.

BUGS! Bed bugs or some other variety. My arms have so many bites. And pretty dirty as well. I had…read moreto use a hand towel to wipe down the wall between the beds. There was soda or something all over it. The lamp was dirty, the ironing board cover was gross. The bathroom walls were filthy. See photo. The mattress kept sliding off the bed a bit, hitting the light cord and unplugging it. The plug for the tub didn't work so water slowly leaked out. The manager said that the room was checked every day for bed bugs. Highly unlikely since there was no attention to detail or in depth cleaning going on. We left before 2 on Saturday even though we paid for 2 days. We had to stay there the previous weekend and that room was also less than clean. The person next door, who appears to live there because they were still there the 2nd weekend, fell asleep with the TV on loud enough to hear through the wall. Since you go through the gas station to book and call with a problem, there was no one to call because it was closed. We were given no other number in the event of a problem. Couldn't stay at the other motel the 2nd trip because they were full. AVOID this place.

Rooms were simple and a great value at $70/night. We have bike racks and bikes on our cars, and being on the first floor with our cars and bikes parked in front of the windows, definitely helps us sleep better at night. Hotel is also across the street from a Family Dollar and next door to a hardees, which was great bc we were short on time and there is no other shopping for about 15 miles in any direction. The Shell station in the parking lot is also the host office. Everyone that worked here was very kind and helpful. We would definitely stay here again next summer in combination with camping. We really needed this hotel for the wi-fi service, but didn't realize that until halfway through our stay at the campground. My daughter has several assignments due for college courses, and our hotspot was completely useless in the Nat'l Park area, the signal was never strong enough for her to load or complete the assignments. The hotel room gave us a place where my daughter could work for a few hours in comfort each day, as well as a place for us to freshen up before our 10 hour car ride home.
