I want to say it has been a great experience. A little dusty but a true adventure. Part of the…read moreexperience comes from the great staff supporting the visitors. One staff in particular was there when I went sleep and there again when I woke up. I couldn't believe how dedicated she is! She must be working ariund the clock. I believe her name is Mykala.

The property has such a fun glamping vibe--cozy domes with the essentials (comfortable bed, AC/heater, and a skylight you can open for stargazing at night). It's a perfect spot if you're visiting nearby areas like the Grand Canyon National Park or Sedona. There's always something going on here. In the evenings, they offer activities, movies, and even s'mores kits by the fire, which was such a nice touch. They also have a food truck (I heard great things, just didn't get to try it), a bar, and a dining dome where you can relax and eat. During the day, they offer things like yoga and stargazing experiences. There are also fun extras like a giant chess set and little activity areas, which makes it great for groups or families. Special shoutout to the staff--Williams was incredibly helpful when we had an issue with our dome code and made sure we were taken care of right away. And the bartender (I believe his name was Xavier) was awesome--he even gave me a complimentary birthday drink, which made my stay extra special. They also make things super convenient with golf cart rides and help with luggage during check-in. Only minor notes: the mini fridge is very small (more of a true mini than a dorm fridge), and our kettle didn't work--but that's on us for forgetting to mention it during the stay. Overall, such a cute, unique, and memorable place to stay. Highly recommend if you're in the area!

It is very silly to write a Yelp review of a place that's nearly impossible to get a reservation…read moreat. But I do compulsively write Yelp reviews of everywhere I eat, so here goes. Location aside, the "hiker's stew" is genuinely an excellent stew. Good quality big chunks of beef and a really savory broth that lets you know just how long it was cooked. Some vegetables (corn) are likely canned, but that was both a minor issue and to be expected given the location. Overall it's genuinely very tasty. Salad was fresh but unremarkable. Cornbread was excellent. Cake was average. I do wish they had ice cream, but I understand the logistical difficulties there...

There's cabins and bunk houses that require a lottery 15 months in advance, which adds to the exclusivity of the experience. Steak dinner is offered by reservations only for $70pp U.S. From 8am- 8pm, there's a cantina open selling all the things you'd want while backpacking, including cold lemonade, beer, wine, snacks, and first aid items. This week, the canyon was bursting with color from all the flowers and vegetation growing after the heavy snow season. This was truly a special experience! The trail to Ribbon Falls/North Rim was closed at one of the bridges and the creek running too high to attempt a safe crossing, so we enjoyed a rest day and cooled off on the banks of the stunning Colorado River. We took pictures of the current ranch as big changes are underway with a new water system getting installed, which will impact access to the ranch for a while. Special mention to the staff, particularly Zach, who went above and beyond to show us hospitality. Also, best of luck to new hire Tyler as he settles into his new role at the ranch! The ranch is currently short-handed, and some of the staff are really feeling the stress, which is starting to show in their interactions with guests. Remember to be patient and kind. The bottom of the Grand Canyon can't be an easy place to live and work.

Great experience at Cameron Trading Post Restaurant during our last night in Arizona! We originally…read morestopped because there's a Shell gas station right next door and we needed gas, but once we looked over and saw the restaurant, we checked Yelp, saw the great reviews and photos, and decided to give it a try. So glad we did! After several days of driving, hiking, and kayaking, it was really nice to finally sit down and enjoy a relaxing dinner. There's also a Native shop attached to the restaurant, which was fun to browse through before eating. The restaurant itself is toward the back, and the restrooms are conveniently located nearby, so I was able to freshen up and change before dinner after being outdoors all day. I ordered the deluxe cheeseburger combo, which totally hit the spot, while my friend got the beef stew with Native fry bread. I'll admit, I was a little jealous when I saw her dish because it looked so warm and comforting after the chilly weather and all the kayaking and hiking we had done earlier that day! Thankfully she let me try the fry bread, and it was delicious. The atmosphere was welcoming, the food was great, and it ended up being the perfect way to wrap up our Arizona trip. Definitely recommend stopping here to fill up on gas and grab a good sit-down meal while passing through!

Cameron Trading Post, perched above the Little Colorado River on Highway 89 is our favorite place…read moreto bring newcomers to the Colorado Plateau region. Interesting things stand the test of time here. I've been told boys born around 1920 used a Spanish armor breastplate to slide on village dunes. In Old Oraibi, beans and bean stems in a pot placed in an underground storage area and forgotten, carbon dated at Northern Arizona University to about 800 CE/AD. Cameron Trading Post and the first bridge across the Little Colorado are in that swirl of time. Stone architecture from 1916 or earlier, stands solidly in place. Most indoor areas are modernized. Some dining room decorations date to the early years. The pressed tin ceilings were common in my grandparent's world - and rusted away long ago in most of the USA. The main trading post has everything from old, valuable, regional items, to gleaming eye-grabbers from China luring toddlers and youngsters into tantrums. There are also food and other useful items for everyday life, like hanks of wool yarn, etc. The restaurant has excellent, regionally based dishes for your dining appreciation, wspecially the giant, hefty, Navajo Taco. There's a hotel here. A woman I knew, losing her hundred years alive to COVID in 2021, worked in the hotel as a teenager. Gas Station, apparently an RV Park, another great shop full of antique Southwest treasures are on the grounds. This is an exceptional stop on the Colorado Plateau.
