BBQ is sub par and food is given zero effort for the price you pay. Won't be back again.

The place was clean and nice. And the foods flavor was good. Now, the bad. While the flavor of the food was good, the food itself wasn't. Everything was extremely dry. We got the hush puppies to start and the sampler to try a little of everything. It was like a desert it was so dry. The hush puppies, chicken, ribs, brisket (which was more like pulled pork because they shred it for some reason) corn bread, and somehow both the coleslaw and baked beans, too. The only way this happens is if they make things earlier in the day and then everything just sits. Meaning it's not freshly made. As I mentioned, it was not very busy, so I'm assuming they make their food in advance and let it sit in pans over heat all day. Which is not what you do with BBQ. It's quite disappointing because the flavor is there. The spices they use were a southern flavor, which is good; but it's so dry, you'll be reenacting the scene from Christmas Vacation just to eat your food. They should consider either limiting their hours they are open to help not have food sitting around to dry out or reconsidering how the make their food. Dry BBQ is the worst, hopefully they'll make the appropriate changes.

I pulled into the parking lot just before 7pm and parked in front of the blue building and walked to the trailer, which also has a meat smoker next to it. The friendly owner walks out of the blue building over to the trailer to meet me to take my order and gives me a laminated menu to review. The menu offers BBQ meats (smoked chicken, pulled pork, beef brisket, smoked ribs), baked beans, cole slaw, mac & cheese, fried chicken sandwich, burgers & fries, smoked chicken salad, deep fried hot dogs, chicken nuggets, and onion rings. I decide on the BBQ Pulled Pork Platter ($11.95 plus tax) with baked beans, cole slaw, and corn bread and a 16 oz Macaroni & Cheese ($7.95 plus tax). My food was prepared to order and brought over to my vehicle in about 10 minutes. The portions of food were great, lots of tender lean pulled pork in a smoky BBQ sauce, sweet baked beans with pork, a sweet chilled cole slaw, and soft sweet moist corn bread which had some crumbles. The mac & cheese was dense and rich with soft elbows in a hot thick orange cheese sauce. I was able to eat half of my dinner and saved the rest for the next evening.

They don't take reservations, and they don't have a waitlist you can join before arriving -- which almost deterred us since we'd been driving all day and the hangry monsters were in full effect. But we risked it and actually got seated right away. Service was great -- friendly and attentive, there just enough and exactly when you needed it. The cocktails were pretty good. I had the Proper Manhattan (Woodford Reserve whiskey, sweet vermouth, and Woodford Reserve chocolate bitters, garnished with a Luxardo maraschino cherry and orange wedge) and the Proper Pig (Crown Maple bourbon and amaretto, garnished with an orange slice and bacon). My dinner was great -- I opted for the Veggie Wedgie (house-made veggie black bean burger with fontina cheese, avocado, shredded lettuce, red onion, tomato, and a citrus chipotle aioli, served on a brioche bun), and I swapped the fries for a side salad. I also added on some mac and cheese, because you gotta be bad sometimes ;) I'd order all of it again! The others got the fried fish and fried shrimp plates and weren't as enthusiastic as I was -- they said the breading was a bit too thick. Overall, it was good, and I'd hit it up again if I'm ever back in town.

The mac & cheese was fair, it just wasn't my normal style, but the BBQ made up for it. Obviously fresh and perfectly smoked. I don't think we could've stopped by the stand on a more beautiful, perfect day! Enjoy sitting outdoors by the food stand under a clean and well covered picnic area. The desserts were also fantastic and I recommend the key lime pie when it's available.

We wander a good bit when we travel. We actually went to place next door first, but this seemed so much more lively and fun! Open air bar for the most part. Great vibe. My kind of place. The folks operating the place were nice and I enjoyed myself immensely here. They take good care of you. On to the food... That was the best freaking chili dogs I have ever had! Chili was great, smothered in queso, and I mean smothered. Fresh cut fries too!! Swoon. I wish I had this in my belly every single day. I am a five star kind of guy, right?!? Or it could have been I was so stinking stoned that it felt that way! Either way.... Killer chili dog! I don't even remember what town we were in or how we got there. I had to google the place to figure out where we were. C had the pulled brisket French Dip! Borealis bread, Swiss cheese, caramelized onions, and housemade au jus. Amazing sandwich! The baked beans were very good as well. I am glad I took a bunch of pics and the food stood out so much so that it stayed locked in my memory banks so well. It was six months ago and I still think about this place. I do remember sampling all of the bbq sauces. I liked them all! I wish I had tried their bbq too. I also got to take a few bites of a shared piece of corn bread. This came out hot with smoked paprika honey butter in the shape of an adorable pig on top. The corn bread was moist and sweet. At the end of our meal, the waitress even provided us with recommendations for our next destination.
