Nice relaxed bar, great food can't say enough about the pizza and wings. Stop in and enjoy a drink with friends.

Local Tap Craft Kitchen and Ale House in El Paso, Illinois, has quickly become a culinary standout…read moresince its 2022 opening, blending community roots with inventive Midwest flavors. Owned and Managed by Aaron Thomas with his really great team. This family-friendly alehouse prioritizes local partnerships and menu creativity, earning its place as a surprise standout in central Illinois' dining scene. Culinary Highlights The menu shines with elevated bar classics, including Ropp Jersey Cheese curds sourced from Normal, Illinois. ~a crispy, creamy nod to regional agriculture.  Wings tossed in bourbon-Sriracha glaze and lemon-pepper buffalo rub draw regulars, while the Italian beef sandwich, paired with sweet potato fries and maple mayo, offers a sweet-savory twist. The showstopper is the custom steak-blend burger: certified Angus beef smashed on a brioche bun, smothered in American cheese, and served with loaded fries-a "step above" typical pub fare. Surprise Standout Culinary Chronicles' sleeper hit is the maple mayo dip, a sweet-smoky companion to crispy sweet potato fries. While rumors swirl about its cult following, the dip exemplifies The Local Tap's knack for balancing familiarity with innovation. Community and Craft True to its name, the restaurant champions local breweries such as White Oak, Riggs Beer Company, and Casper Brewing. Also, fostering a patio-to-indoor vibe that's equally suited for family dinners or friend gatherings. Weekly cocktail features, like the raspberry Long Island iced tea and barrel-aged Old Fashioned, underscore their bar program's versatility. With its commitment to Midwestern flavors, community ties, and dishes that surprise even seasoned foodies, The Local Tap is a destination worth the drive. As Osborn and Thomas expand their culinary playbook-including this week's chicken cordon bleu ciabatta with white wine cream sauce-the restaurant solidifies its role as El Paso's flavorful heartbeat.

Great service although they were a little busy. Los Pollos Hermanos Mexican lager was a good Mexican lager. Very easy to drink. Kit Kupfer amber ale had a little fruity flavor I couldn't quite place but when I looked at the beer menu it described it as "hint of peach". Yeah, I think that's it. A very light amber ale. Very nice beer! SWPFTD would enjoy this one. Midnight Mirage black IPA...ok, this was interesting. And I don't mean that in a snide way at all. It's a black IPA with a whole host of fruit flavors. Grapefruit was definitely there on the back of the tongue on the finish, as well as apricot but that was more on the nose. Not a heavily bitter IPA at all. This might be my favorite so far. Decadent Orange Dobroy Nochi imperial stout had a really good orange flavor to it. I still think the back IPA is my favorite though. I wasn't really hungry but perused the menu and ordered a starter of the fresh artisanal bread with an awesome honey butter. There was another butter with it but I forgot what it was while under the thrall of the honey butter. I ate ALL of that myself. I truly enjoyed TRB. The beers were great, the bread was excellent, and the service was good as well. If anyone is a glutton for punishment, please, follow my brewery, and distillery, reviews from across the U.S. and beyond! https://www.yelp.com/collection/-8iscFkpiiCI563-FDfwGg and if anyone is wondering who SWPFTD is you will have to check out my review of Black Market Brewing Co in Temecula, CA to understand. Yes, you will need to read into it a little to get the joke but I have confidence in you! I hope my confidence is not misplaced.

We ordered drinks and two special appetizers, shrimp in a spicy cream sauce and pork belly bits with diced mango. Both were delicious. For our mains, we chose: Sassy Chicken Thighs and Brown Sugar Brined Pork Chop. The chicken thighs melted in my mouth. We spoke at length with the manager after our dinner and tried to guess the ingredients in the outstanding sauces. The sassy sauce had in addition to the honey and Dijon, some cayenne pepper, smoked paprika, and cumin. Not too spicy, just enough zip to make it interesting. The pork chop was also amazing. Tender and juicy with a cherry balsamic glaze. We would definitely recommend a visit and plan to return the next time we're in town.

The menu was several pages but only one page with food, drinks were the remainder. We got the dipper appetizer and I had the Sassy Chicken Thighs. Both were good and the thigh was boneless. My wife had the loaded potato salad, asparagus, and broccoli which she enjoyed. My son had the Steak Sliders with the potato salad which he really enjoyed. I suppose when the chef can master a menu there's no need for multiple pages. I misjudged and would definitely come back if I'm in town again.

What a great variety on the menu. Even though there is a good variety, we each opted for the Thai chicken wonton tacos from the appetizer menu. They did not disappoint! I love the ambiance of the place - courtesy of the old 50 foot wooden mahogany bar that was built by Pabst Blue Ribbon and imported from Belgium in 1898. She's a real beauty! Of course that's where I choose to set. They now have a tablet interactive menu that one can see all their items including food, drinks, and desserts. This visit I tried their 8 oz sirloin with sides Cole slaw and fried zucchini. For my drink I chose their seasonal Sam Adams Octoberfest, draft, tyvm. The Octoberfest was cold and refreshing (actually my favorite S.A.), however the sirloin was not up to par. It was very tough, and very chewy. There was a lot of seasoning on it, but it couldn't hide the fact that it wasn't a very good cut of meat nor very well prepared. My sides of cole slaw and (especially) the fried zucchini were excellent and prevented this from being a 3-Star review. Seriously, I can not recommend the sirloin and will not order it on my next visit here.
