This place has a great sense of humor and it is a very popular brewery in Bloomington. We shared the Barria Nachos and they really were flavorful. My husband ordered onion rings for himself and said that they weren't greasy at all. Our server was efficient though humorless. I enjoyed an ice cold orange seltzer that was refreshing. Located in Bloomington ,this casual brew pub is kid friendly serving up some great IPAs,stouts and sours. We stopped in for a light dinner driving back from St. Louis. It was very crowded but luckily we found a table. I tried their Logger lager and it was very light and refreshing. My wife had an Orange seltzer. We shared their Beef Birria Nachos which were delicious. Also ordered a side of onion rings for only 2.00. Its a fun place with many different pictures of Beavers. Friendly service and great beer selection for all tastes. My wife's barrel aged stout was just right; not too heavy or sweet. My Hazy IPA was excellent. Everyone loves a lil beaver... This place has been on my list for years since I first heard of it. The name alone was enough for me to go and check it out. Emily and I made plans to come here on a day we both had off and both were in the mood for beers. We ordered our drinks and took a seat inside. There is a back patio/beer garden where you can enjoy the weather but we just got done walking around outside and needed to cool down. Plus it smelled like rain was coming based on how the air smelled. I ordered their Kolsch due to it being a favorite of mine and they are relatively hard to find. I was excited to get it and Emily was excited to try a flight of beers herself. While we sat there and discussed our beers, we both came to the conclusion that we weren't exactly digging our beers. My Kolsch tasted almost acidic like a cider than a bitterness of a Kolsch. Maybe that's basing it off the Canoe Paddler (R.I.P) by Leinenkugel but I was expecting a deeper heavier taste than a lighter cider. It was good in its own right but when expecting something else, it was the smallest of let downs. Emily ordered a flight of beers of what she thought sounded good and she was equally let down to some degree. I tried each of her drinks and based on what they should've been, I was feeling the same as her. All the beer wasn't bad but for what it said it was... it just tasted a bit off. I will say that the bartenders were beyond great and friendly. They visited our table multiple times to make sure we were good on our drinks. The main seating area we were in was nice and I loved the various beaver artworks on the walls that were all based on famous images. My favorite being the Bernie Sanders sitting on a chair with mittens on. I really dug the vibe of this place, the humor, the great customer service and overall aesthetics of the place. It was just a bit of a bummer that the beer was just... not hitting the right notes. This won't stop me from ever coming back should I be in the area. read more

Whenever you get the chance go to Lil Beaver Brewery! Everything was great. Choice of beers, flight sampling and lunch, oh my. The burger was delicious with some of the best bacon I have ever enjoyed, YUM! We even got a 4 pack of beer that was not on draft to take home. The beers were really good. Wait staff very helpful with food and beverage choices. Serving sizes are LARGE. Pretty good acoustics inside the brewery so easy to converse at the table. When it comes to atmosphere, I would consider this more of a restaurant that serves their own beer than just a brewery vibe. They do have cute/funny beaver decor everywhere, and there were lots of families/kids. It's a large space packed with tables (and a cute patio too for when it gets nicer.) The menu looked good, but we really just came for the beer. That being said, the cheese curds and pretzel bites were great table "shareables" and it came with a very generous portion of delicious white queso (also a choice of house beer cheese.) Like any good brewery, they offer a flight so that you can sample a wide array of their beers. (They also have their own ciders/seltzers for all you non-beer drinkers.) We like trying fun & different beers so we got the Concord Vanilla Wainbows Milkshake Pale Ale, the Key Lime Pie Milkshake Pale Ale, the Coffee Boombastic Cream Ale, and the Lil Hairy Cherry Milk Stout. We enjoyed them all and there was a good deal for a pitcher, so our group also opted to get just the normal Wainbows New England Pale Ale to share. read more

Here is another brewery in Bloomington. It has a pretty fun atmosphere and is good for big gatherings. Lil Beaver is actually big, as far as having indoor room for seating. Beers are good and there's plenty on tap to choose from. The food menu is lacking. After checking out a few other breweries, we came here. It's on the edge of town. This is surrounded by not much, and it looks like it was some kind of factory or whatever. Beers are the best thing of course. It's about $6 a pint. The best was the Willy's Watermelon And Wheat. It's a fruit beer. This has a medium alcohol content, and wasn't overly fruity though. Food isn't as good. There's mostly meaty things. It no longer has the vegetarian options they had. There's basically chips and snacks. Beer is the main thing to get. It's a pretty cool looking place and there's also a nice patio. The food is mostly greasy meat stuff and there's not much for vegetarians. read more

This place was recommended to me by the owners of our local Tap Room here in South Elgin, and I'm so glad they did. We tried to go on a Thursday night, but the parking situation was terrible - so we came back on Friday for lunch instead. The outdoor area is welcoming and looks super fun but it's still a little too early, and they didn't have a bartender or service outside so we went inside. The server knew their beers, which is important because there is nothing worse than going to a place with their own brewery or is a craft beer place, and have the server not even know what's going on with their own beer. To eat, we had Birria Tacos, chicken strips, and a chicken sandwich. All were great! When we left, I got a 4 pack to go and I am pretty sure I've found my favorite beer in the Strawberry Wainbows. Stopped by this place by accident while looking for another restaurant in the area. The atmosphere and the fresh smells convinced us to stay. We ended up ordering their fried pickles for an appetizer with two beers and they came out very quickly. The pickles were very crisp but the sauce was too tiny for the appetizer. I ordered the dam Smashburger and the spouse ordered the turkey club with fries. The fries were nothing to rave about and the croissant tasted slightly stale. My burger had a complex taste starting with the jam and cheese and finishing off with the crisp onion rings. We will try this place again but take note that the fries are basic and the croissant may be stale. Side note they use untapped to list all of their beers and that is amazing. read more

We stopped here with a group of five for lunch. I was debating between three or four stars and ended leaving the four as I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch (a chicken croissant sandwich and amazing onion rings). The rest of our party was equally pleased with their food choices. Our server, Noel, was very friendly and accommodating. Though only her third day, she had a great grasp of the menu and the beers. The two things that I found off putting were the excessive noise and cold. The music was very loud such that everyone was shouting in an attempt to be heard. We've enjoyed experiencing Lil Beaver's evolution as they started as a small microbrewery in to more of a restaurant with great indoor and outdoor seating options. First off, we're fans of their brews and enjoyed trying new types of beers. Around the holidays, my favorite is their Holly Jolly White Peppermint Stout so we had to stop by recently to get my fix. In the summer, their outdoor seating area is great to enjoy brews as well. They've also done a nice job of either bringing in or making options for those who aren't fans of beer. This will continue to be one of our go-to places with friends. read more

A very good brewery experience! For Lil Beaver Brewery Steve and I had two of their beers. Both were very good but there was one that I was really impressed by. To start with we had the Blueberry Crumble. This was a fruited beer with of course as the name implies involves blueberries. But in addition to that there were also cinnamon and vanilla highlights in the flavor roll out that did remind one of a crumble dessert and what in addition tasted like blueberry also generated kind of a graham cracker type of flavor. Not a bad fruited beer. But our hearts really lied with the Legendary Lemon. This was a great blonde ale which once again as the name implies has lemon as it's main highlight. In addition to milk sugar and vanilla this generated a very well made tart flavored beer that is very drinkable and in which is something one could have a couple pints of. Legendary Lemon was very impressive to us and we wouldn't mind having it again! read more
