We stopped into Sun Singer for a lunch break during a business trip, and it ended up being one of…read morethe highlights of our time in the area. It's a wonderfully unique space--part wine and spirits shop, part lively daytime dining room--with a steady flow of customers browsing bottles alongside a full bar and tables occupied by ladies who lunch and retirees enjoying a relaxed weekday afternoon. It is a surprisingly chic space for Champaign. The dining room was busy enough that there would have been a wait for a table, but we were perfectly happy at the bar. Our bartender was very friendly and welcoming, even while clearly managing a high volume of guests in what felt like a short-staffed moment. Despite that, service remained warm and attentive. We shared the traditional fondue, which was generously portioned and stayed hot for an impressively long time thanks to their setup--ideal for lingering over conversation. We both enjoyed wine pairings, and I especially loved the Winter Warmer Knob Creek cider: cozy, well-balanced, and a standout choice, particularly for anyone who appreciates Knob Creek. Sun Singer has an excellent atmosphere--social, distinctive, and effortlessly inviting. I very much look forward to returning the next time we're back in the area.

So we called on Tuesday, May 25th to order (nothing special, something they usually carry in kegs) and were told they couldn't take an order that far in advance; call next week. So we called today at 12:13pm and was rudely told he was busy and to call back later. Twenty minutes later we called again and were told they couldn't get us a keg for Thursday bc their stock was completely out due to Memorial Day weekend. Seriously? We tried to put in an order well in advance so you could have all the notice you needed to order enough stock and you shut us down every step of the way. RUDLEY. Now we're two days out, left high and dry by a business we've tried to support. DISAPPOINTED! DO BETTER.

The liquor store of choice for this functioning alcoholic. Ok, that may be an exaggeration, I…read moredon't exactly function, but the fact remains that Budget Liquors is a fantastic store. Their selection of microbrews and imports is amazing, it's probably the only place I've ever seen Schafly's and Great Lakes in the same store. I absolutely love it. The selection of spirits isn't quite up to "Binny's" level proportions, but it is good. You can't stay mad at a liquor store that stocked Mt. Gay Rum. Now the staff, that's something else. The staff is great, being a regular, they know me, and often create an atmosphere akin to "Cheers," except they don't witness my egregious sins fueled by alcohol, they just witness the purchase, even at 12:45am on a June Sunday. That's good hours. It may not be a superstore like Binny's up north, but it's close, local, well stocked and the prices are pretty decent. My advice: get drinks from these folks.

No complaints there. We made reservations at Table 19 in New Year's Eve, unaware that they had an extremely limited menu that evening. Normally that would not be so bad except this menu was $80 a person. For that $80, you had an appetizer choice, an entree with 1 side, a salad choice and dessert choice, all from the limited menu. We thought about going elsewhere but thought, for that amount of money, it has to be good and you only live once, right. Well, the appetizers were very good as well as the salad, but it goes downhill after that. We each had a 16oz bone in ribeye. We ordered it medium. When it arrived sizzling in it's own cast iron skillet, we thought, oh wow, this is going to be amazing. The steak was practically bleeding in the middle. We never send steak back but had to this time. It came back so badly burned on the outside, we couldn't eat it. My green beans were plain ordinary beans and my husbands mashed potatoes were instant potatoes. For $80, we expected a little better quality food. I am sorry to write this negative review, but when you feel you can charge that much for a meal, it should be a little more palatable. I gave it 2 stars because the wait staff were very sweet.

The rooms were clean comfortable, and spacious. They had a continental breakfast in the morning it has the usual good stuff where you make your own waffles and have sausage scrambled egg and fruit. She was friendly, accommodating and made sure that we knew she would take care of our needs. The morning breakfast person was not as accommodating. It would be nice if he was friendly and smiled.
