I came in for the German pancake but ended up ordering the Flaming Fiesta Omelette, and I'm so glad I did! It was absolutely massive, served piping hot, and packed with flavor. The gooey cheese, jalapeño peppers, and fresh veggies made every bite delicious. We also tried a few other dishes: the ever-popular Joe with a side of crispy potato pancakes, and the turkey, avocado, bacon, and cheese omelette. Every single item was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. Very disappointing to write this review as this restaurant chain is usually very efficient, attentive, and friendly. However our first time at this location checked none of those boxes. Our server took awhile to take our order and after nearly 35mins after it did come it was incorrect. No apology and lack of urgency to fix it. First time here. Wanted to try some of the local restaurants. Didn't realize the restaurant was rated B before this, but it just aligns with the overall service and taste of food. We had to wait 10 mins to get seated. At first we thought it was a good sign that there were a lot of people there...we went inside and the place was small. Crowded seating. We were sat next to the emergency door, which I guess is a best care scenario if it's crazy. It took another 10 mins to get ordered. Sat for the next 45 mins and watched people who ordered after us, get their food before us. When we got our order, they brought out the wrong order. The pancakes were dry, practically cornbread with syrup on it. My husband ordered an omelette and they brought him a cheese souffle. My kids were literally saying "ew" to the pancakes and rubber bacon. That says alot coming from kids who eat McDonald's pancakes happily. I had to actually season my own hash browns because they were just so bland. We saw our server the most when it was time to leave. This review is for the service & not the food. I went in for a German pancake... that was all. It's one of my favorites & is consistently good. I knew what I wanted when I walked in & didn't even need to look at the menu. Upon entering this half empty restaurant, I was not greeted by the greeter at the door. Instead, a server came from the back of the restaurant, asked how many & seated me. I asked for water & OJ as the server walked away from seating me. The server walked back & forth delivering beverages to other tables. I ended up waiting 25-minutes for the server to return to take my order. They said they thought I was waiting for another party. I was finally able to put my pancake order in & waited patiently for it to be prepared (as I know they take some time). After I finished as much as I could, I waited another 10-mins for my server to come over. I needed a box & my check. The rude greeter dropped them on the table without saying a word. When I left, no one said goodbye or thank you. I would recommend some very easy training for the staff to acknowledge, greet & say goodbye/thank you to every guest group that comes & goes to the restaurant. It would make a huge difference for the guests & would create a more cheerful environment for the staff. read more

We were so sad to know after receiving them that they stopped serving it with tropical syrup hoping they can figure out a way to get a good coconut syrup with it or maybe even a pineapple syrup or compote rather than maple. My absolute favorite thing was the Dutch pancake! Never had it before but now it definitely won't be my last. Our waitress was so friendly and kind! I know, we went to the pancake house and did not get pancakes. I get biscuits & gravy everywhere I go and my lady gets French toast. I will say it was average at best for both meals. The French toast was almost had too much cinnamon. We also prefer a fluffier French toast. So it's preference at that point. As for the biscuits, they were also okay. Talk about nostalgia! I remember going to one of these institutions when I was little. While the place is not trendy or Instagram worthy it is definitely a feel good breakfast joint with fabulous pancakes! I have tried a few different dishes and come to the conclusion that if you stick with the pancakes, waffles, or crepes you are in the zone. The omelettes look fabulous, they also look like they can feed a family of four, but alas I actually haven't tried one yet. I did however try the California Eggs Benny and it was good but didn't feel like it would leave a memorable impression on me like the Eggs Sardu at this little joint in South Pasadena. The pancakes however is obviously what they are known for. You can't go wrong, it is all good. Be hungry though. Portions are generous here so be ready or take the leftovers home. I've grown up eating OPH with family since I was little. It was always a treat for family to spend money on breakfast. I didn't get the value of money back then but now as an adult, well, yeah. I've visited alot of locations and the food/service has mostly been consistent (Poway is the best). The location here seems to be in a mall. It was a bit hard to find as I'm not from the area. The restaurant didn't appear full or busy but there was about 25+ min wait. Service wasn't really there. Maybe she was too busy but we already knew what we wanted to order. We tried: Coffee $3.25 - good coffee and heavy cream just like all the other locations Cappuccino $3.35 - it was served in a to go cup which was odd since we were dining in Western Omelette $15.25 - dry and over baked. The cheese wasn't beautifully oozy but instead stiff Strawberry Crepes $13.90 - my mom thought the crepes were ok but the fresh strawberries on top appeared old and brown Apple pancake $14.35 - you could tell this was freshly made as it came out piping hot and hadn't deflated. It was the best dish of the meal and I don't usually like baked apples in much Baja 500 burrito $12.95 - meh. There wasn't much to this breakfast burrito as it was plain . The total before tax and tip was around $71 or so. It's a nice convenient location for this area but I've visited better OPH around San Diego. read more

We arrived around 9am on Saturday which was perfect timing because when we left around 10am, the place was packed and there were people waiting outside for tables. Wait staff provided utensils, syrups, sugars, and whatever else was naturally available in-store, for our To Go order. Unfortunately, their service area screamed truck stop dining. DÉCOR SAYS - EAT SOMEWHERE ELSE The dining décor, seating, and floors were outdated. I got that "Sticky Menu and Table" vibe. I think this location's health score confirms my observations. NEED TO INVEST MORE IN THEIR HEALTH SCORE Hazel Analytics does Health Department Analytics, which gave a 92 out of 100. Ask yourself, is 92% enough compliance for the $80.00 I paid? From 2018 - 2022, this location went from 2 to 9 routine violations. We love the original pancake house and decided to try this location on a Sunday morning. There was no wait and we were seated quickly. We waited about 20 minutes to even be greeted by the server, about another 10-15 minutes for our drinks, then another 45 minutes for our food. Half of our families food was cold and the other half was burnt from being under a heat lamp by the time it was delivered to our table. Those were great! Everything was hot and fresh and I love that the syrup comes out warm! Let's talk about the real winner here and thats the coffee! First off, hot delicious coffee, like I had 2 cups, which I normally don't do! The creamer is different. It's not your normal liquid vanilla creamer, its the concentrated version.
