So cool that there's an Original Pancake House in Bloomington-Normal! Don't know how long they'd been there but we visit the area at least once a year. It looks relatively new and we possibly drove past on several occasions without realizing it Food was great. Service was good. We got seated immediately even though it was a crowded Sunday morning

The place was absolutely packed, which always feels like a good sign. We kicked things off by ordering their famous apple pancake. Apparently, it's quite the star on their menu, but definitely takes its sweet time to make an appearance,I guess good things come to those who wait, or at least, good pancakes. While we were waiting, we tried a couple of other pancake options. The chocolate chip pancakes were good, pretty standard fare, nothing to write home about but hit the spot. We also tried the Georgia pecan pancakes, and I have to say, I was a tad disappointed that the pecans were just sprinkled on top instead of being mixed into the batter. I was really hoping for that full on pecan goodness throughout each bite. The Santa Fe omelet, on the other hand, was a winner I added some bacon to it, and it was absolutely delicious. Finally, the apple pancake arrived, a bit after our other food had already landed. It was certainly unique.Definitely different from your average pancake, and it had a slightly eggy consistency that was a bit unexpected. Not bad, just a very different experience than what we're used to. Now, about the service. It was a bit of a tricky situation, to be honest. We had a new waiter who was still in training, and it seemed like her trainer had left her to handle things on her own for a good stretch. She was clearly doing her best, but it just took a really long time to place our order and get things sorted. You could tell she was overwhelmed, and I definitely felt for her it really wasn't her fault at all, just a tough spot to be in. The atmosphere itself was super lively, almost a little chaotic with how many people were there. It was quite noisy, which meant a lot of shouting to hear each other, haha. And funnily enough, no TVs or newspapers around, so it was all about the company and the food, I guess.

First time at the Original Pancake House. Everything was great. We got seated right away, even though it was crowded. I waitress was super nice and had good recommendations. My eggs were cooked perfectly. This was the first restaurant to ask me how I wanted my bacon, crispy, chewy or in between. I chose in between and it was great. The place was clean. It's a little bit noisey because of the crowd and the seating arrangements but it was comfortable. I never felt like people were on top of us. With tax and tip it was about $35 for two people. Neither of us had coffee, so I can't comment on that. I would choose this place again for breakfast. A totally different vibe than First Watch. Go there!

Ordered the Apple Pancake, my wife's order came out and she was pretty much done eating by the time my order came out. I understand mine takes longer to cook, the apples were also undercooked. You might want to precook them some, or cook the Apple Pancakes longer. Guess next time I will go to the Cracker Barrel and put their Fried Cinnamon Apples on top of my pancakes.

Not our best experience at the Original Pancake house. My neice had to send back her undercooked sausage links twice before they were cooked to her liking. To their credit the manager was very professional and accommodating. I'm a bit of a pancake snob and I like my pancakes golden brown, which they usually are but this time they were more yellow.

My buddy and I dropped in for a Monday morning brunch, found a near luxury space and enjoyable staff ready to seat. Was comfortable and well cared for getting service all the right intervals, only sipped waters but surely most any beverage is tasty to match the food! The menu is so big! A sprawling spread of crepes, pancakes, waffles, omelet, benedicts, and alternatives for gluten and dairy and vegan sensitives, he did a berry crepe and I picked the special pulled pork Benedict. I think we timed the arrival because both showed up so quickly right as the crowd did. Conversation slowed and chowing sped up, little to fault from rich yet thin dessert wraps for breakfast to my savory mess of potato supporting the star on muffins. It is weird to drop dinner bucks for breakfast but that is how it goes now.

If you're traveling through Normal,Illinois and want some very good breakfast this is the place! I've never had a better breakfast, atmosphere and service anywhere else bar none.

Went here to catch up with a friend who lives in town. This place is always packed so I wanted to see what all the hype was about. Joined the waitlist and got a seat within 15 mins. Got a Santa Fe scrambler with a side of pancakes. Felt like it was over priced for what I got. But the food was decent and the service was excellent. 4 dollars for a coffee is definitely on the outrageous side. All and all not too shabby for a breakfast place.

Excellent food, very busy on weekend mornings especially when University of Illinois sports are home games. Coffee is good, waffles are excellent as are the large variety of pancakes and egg dishes. Good Corned Beef Hash, bacon is thick cut. Spinach salad is one of the best I've ever had, very light citrus dressing. Hours are 6:30 am to 1:00 pm during the week and 7:00am to 1:30 pm weekends.

That said, nothing here blows me away taste, or service-wise. I've never had a bad meal or service issue here either. I considered a demerit this time around for the current prices, but frankly it's the same way everywhere, esp for bfast. The biggest downside is probly the ambiance, which is more on the noisy side based on it being a pretty large place these days and still pretty popular. I can't comment on lunch or dinner because we've never tried it, but the place prized brunch spot mostly by folks middle-aged and up (with more families/kids on the weekends) for its all-around consistency.

The fresh from the forest mushroom side dish they gave us a special treat to us was quite a delicacy. We started with the sashimi plate. The fish was fresh- including tuna, salmon, shrimp- placed over small celery bites. A variety of sauces were dotted around the plate's edge. The dish would have benefited from some ginger and more sauce. Our entrees included Pork Coppa Ramen- which was a solid dish- strong beef broth flavor and the sambal (chili sauce) -a few cents extra- added a good depth of flavor. The fish bowl- tuna, salmon- with rice, pickled veggies, and gim (Korean seaweed) was tasty. It was even tasty the next day cold out of the fridge. Our server Jack did a nice job- we sampled their roasted carrots- and they were actually our favorite bite. We also had the potato graten and they were tasty- but could have been easily skipped with our Asian dinner vibe. The restaurant has a great eclectic historical vibe and was busy on a Friday night, but still felt spacious. The drink menu is a good selection- we enjoyed wine with dinner (a solid Pinot noir). I would definitely go back to have the pizza- which looked delicious at a couple of the neighboring tables. This is a great date night venue or girls night out.
