I enjoyed my time here. I've been here before for an omelette but decided to get the country breakfast that had pancakes and ham with 3 eggs. This was filling and delicious. The staff are so friendly and this is a comfy place. I've been here during weekdays so it's not as crowded. Lots of locals come here. The weekends get more crowded. I enjoyed it! The corn beef hash definitely hit the spot here. If I see corned beef hash I will definitely order it. They did not disappoint. The portion was definitely good size to leaving you full but not stuffed. The side of sourdough was excellent. Good sourdough flavor with lots of butter. Good food but the person up in the front the one with the beard who is seating people and at the cash register is so rude to customers definitely needs to learn how to talk to people with out the attitude. His tone with people is not necessary nor is it ok for him to talk to the customers with a disgusting attitude that he has, he can be nice to some people but others you can tell he doesn't care. My family and I have been here roughly a dozen times, and for the most part we had good experiences. There was one time when my sister sent back bacon because it was burnt, and another time when my mother sent her plate back because there was hard plastic in her food, but we still paid for our meals and didn't make a fuss. The waitress, a shorter latina woman with big eyes, brings us our food and asks us "Where are you ladies?" I told her they were outside smoking. She mentioned "Well I just want to make sure that they come in because last time they were here they sent food back because it was cold." My sister ordered a salad... is that going to get cold? It also was not why my sister sent food back. We finished our meal and I went to pay. I asked to speak to the manager and told him how she made us uncomfortable - the entire meal we felt as if we were being watched or scrutinized. The manager din't seem to care - sharing generic platitudes and insincere, monotone apologies. I asked him, what could the reasoning be that she would have asked that, other than to make us feel uncomfortable? And he said "I don't know I have to talk to her." I didn't ask why she did it, I asked why HE thought she did it, to see if maybe his perspective was different than mine. He just kept brushing me off and patronizing me. By the end of it all he said "It seemed as if you had already made up your mind about us." Yes, sir. And it is your job to change it. You couldn't even properly listen to us. 40 years of retail, and 20 years at this restaurant, and you act like that? And I was not talking over yo, you weren't understanding what I was saying, and your generic responses to the questions you thought I was asking. I know I'm just one person this manager and restaurant ultimately do not give a fuck about, but that was unacceptable. Do better. read more

I passed by this place a few times and always wanted to stop by and try it. Finally, I got to try it, and this place is amazing. Upon entering, it seemed super busy. It looks like the place has been here for a while, but the chairs and tables looked modern. Not worn out and faded looking like some places. I was warmly greeted, right away. We came here on a Thursday morning. It was surprisingly busy for a workday morning. They said we can sit anywhere and we sat at the countertop. The waitresses were very nice and friendly. I noticed they even greeted some people by name who seemed to be regulars. This was a good American brunch and they had lots of options other than omelettes but we came for the omelettes. I got the mushroom, spinach, and swiss omelette. You can also build your own, but I think they had so many variations there wasn't a need for me to. SHRINKFLATION ALERT - LYING - I came to Omelette House literally once a week for many years. Maybe missing a week here and there. But a very loyal diner. I chose OH over Stacks down the road because Stacks kept increasing their prices and offering lesser quality. OH did not increase their prices and their quality stayed the same. They also did not use the hand held "pay at the table" method for payment. They stayed old school and ring you up at the counter. Which is proper. UNFORTUNATELY, a few weeks ago, I went and ordered my usual omelette only to find they used 2 eggs, not 3 and the potatoes had nothing in them (no onion, nothing) and were dismal, no taste. I asked one of the servers what happened and she said "Oh yeah all of the restaurants are doing this now" I let her know I was disappointed that OH went that route and she just said "Yeah" and shrugged her shoulders, as if it was OK and we are expected to accept it. The dishonesty is what gets me. Do not say it's a 3 egg omelette and give me a tiny inferior omelette from all of the years I've been there. I'm back to Stacks for breakfast because at least they're honest with a sign that states they increased prices due to prices of eggs. And they still give you a 3 egg omelette as advertised. This is an old fashioned diner in San Carlos. Set up is typical 1980s diners and has charm to it. Menu is extensive, you can find any combination of omelette you can imagine on the menu. Drink menu is very standard. There is ample parking spaces in the parking lot behind the diner. Now to the food! I ordered Italian sausage Joe's omelette with cheddar cheese added, Hash brown and side order of bacon. Although food was well prepared but was really under seasoned. In some point I ended up adding salt to the egg and sausage filling and the potatoes. Coffee was ok, diner style served hot and fresh. Service was super friendly and was star of the show on my recent visit. This place is accessible and kids friendly. The only let down for me was, this is an older diner and carpets start smelling funny. Since I visited on rainy day, this funny smell was really pronounced. Service wasn't bad. Restaurant was clean. We read reviews beforehand and contemplated but decided to give it a try anyways. The pancakes and waffles were extremely hard to cut through, and hard to eat without an unhealthy amount of syrup. Coffee is basic, no special creamers. Tea was not good. Overall, The omelettes are the best pick here. Also, in case people don't know this either, Gratuity is automatically added if you have 5 or more people in your party. I was in the mood for Eggs Benedict. We normally go to Town restaurant for breakfast but their Eggs Benedict has gotten more expensive for less food. Wanted to try something else. The Omelette House was nearby and we were seated quickly. Our server was pleasant and answered all questions we had. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with a side of extra hollandaise sauce. Our order was prepared quickly and the server reminded the cook staff that I asked for a side of hollandaise (often it's forgotten and I have to ask again for it), so that was nice that she remembered before my meal was served. It did take a little while, and she was waiting patiently for it. Sadly, because I was in such a mood for a good Eggs Benedict, this did not hit the spot. The English muffin was very soggy. The ham was good, the poached egg was good. The hollandaise served on top was not good. It was very broken. Strangely, the extra side of hollandaise was better. I am assuming that the extra side was made fresh and the sauce on my meal was an old batch of sauce, but that's just a guess. You can see the difference in the photos. The best omelette that I've had so far. I almost made a mistake ordering another item at their menu. My friend said if it's called The Omelette House, I needed to start trying their specialty. We built our own. My omelette had avocado, Swiss cheese, cream cheese, ham, and bacon. Omgosh I don't know how they can make a simple breakfast sooooo delicious. The cheese was melting in my mouth. Avocado was fresh, and everything was tasting very good. It comes with potatoes and bread. I chose wheat bread and hash browns. Their Hash browns was golden and absolutely delicious. The man at the front counter (owner? employee? who knows) was incredibly rude. I had my little ones with me, and from the second we walked in, he acted like we were a nuisance. The constant glares, the annoyed sighs--he made it very clear kids aren't welcome. We literally left right after being seated because the atmosphere was so uncomfortable. i'd actually had my eye on this place for quite some time, but only visited for a meal last week. my friend and i decided to spontaneously meet for lunch on a thursday afternoon and this place was convenient for both of us. there is some parking around the perimeter of the restaurant, but it's all sloped so be sure to set the emergency break once you have parked. there is also some street parking, on laurel street, behind the restaurant. you can actually turn into the restaurant's property from laurel...i totally missed this upon arrival and drove all the way around to el camino. seating is primarily indoors, but there was actually 1 table outside...not sure why since they had quite a large covered area outside, in front of the restaurant. so we sat outside, in private, which was kinda funny...having the long outdoor table, staff coming outside just to wait on us. i ordered the vegetarian omelette ($14.90): mushrooms, onions, bell peppers, spinach, tomatoes, made with egg whites, plus whole wheat toast, and potatoes. my friend ordered the club sandwich with french fries ($12.95): bacon, turkey, ham, tomato and cheese. my plate came with a lot of food! the omelette was made just right, firm with all the veggies inside. the whole wheat toast had just the right amount of melted butter. i actually took the potatoes home since it was too much food for me, but it was a very generous helping. my friend took his time, but eventually ate every bite of his sandwich and fries. his plate was beautifully presented, sandwich cut into quarters, enveloping the french fries in the middle...should have taken a pic of his lunch as well! service was on point, our waitress was very sweet, brought utensils, plates, food, and the bill very promptly. she also came out several times to check on us, with a very sweet voice...i'll remember that the most! from a price point, this was very reasonable for san carlos....i paid only $35 including tax and tip which is extremely rare for a sit down lunch for 2. i will be back for another meal soon! read more
