I became a follower when the vendor became a regular at the Block's Farmer Market (every Friday June through October). As a popcorn lover, I use the Tuscan Herb oil. No need for further seasoning. The Balsamic with fresh mozzarella and basil with ripe tomatoes = summer. This week I ventured out to the Basil oil with a lemon vinegar ... small bottles are now available. Can try without a big commitment. It was very refreshing (1 part olive oil : 1 part vinegar) over spring greens and veggies. I use the oils to marinate fish. The vendor's representative at the Block is knowledgeable and obviously likes to cook. She shares different uses with every interaction. With the pandemic, I was forced to expand my cooking skills. By changing an oil or vinegar, the meal is refreshed. Highly reccomend. read more

Omg what an amazing discovery I stumbled upon during a Strip District Open Streets event. Lots and lots of selections and preparations of various oils, sauces, spices, vinegars and balsamic which you can sample until you find the one best suited for your purchase. There were lots of other kitchen items for sale here too. We really enjoyed our visit and the quality customer service we received on Sunday last month. We will be back as recurring customers to try and take home more options! Pleased with our find. read more

This is the gold mine of olive oil! Anything and everything you can think of (and then some) is available here. Before I go on about the olive oils I have to say how wonderful the owners and employees are. You walk in and they are excited to see you, like a friend. They have so much knowledge and have taught me a lot about usage of olive oils and more. Ok so not only are there olive oils as far as the eye can see by they carry gourmet gifts, specialty foods, a variety of sea salts, peppers, additional seasonings and so much more. Please don't confuse their business, or any of the others on this first level as being a part of the awful Pennsylvania Market which is strictly housed on the second floor. This olive oil shop is far too incredible to be lumped in with that nonsense above them. This is a wonderful way to not only stock up on cooking needs like vinegars or custom bottling, but as I mentioned above it's wonderful to support such a deserving local business. read more

Today was the first time I have been to the olive tap and it was amazing. I had already pre picked some vinegars and the women up front, without ever have meeting me, knew they weren't for me. She took me through and allowed me to sample multiple different ones and I found a few that I am in love with. Excellent customer service and I'll be back to fill up on the flavors I got :). Here's a place that celebrates the perfect union of olive oil and vinegar like no other. Depending who you are, one might say this is a place where dreams come true. I found this place while it was back in the Pittsburgh Public Market. I was just walking through the strip, possibly day-dreaming of balsamic vinegar (no judgements, right?) when I stumbled upon the (then new) Public Market. The building contained many gems, but shining more brightly than most was the Olive Tap, with its immense selection of artisan oils and balsamic vinegars. I spent nearly half an hour inside, sampling the unique flavors like Persian Lime Olive Oil, Blackberry Ginger Balsamic Vinegar, and Coconut White Riserva Balsamic Vinegar. I know there are other places like it, but trust me when I say, the Olive Tap is a cut above the rest! read more

Excellent selection of flavors that go with high quality olive oils and balsamic vinegars. They allow you to sample as much olive oil and balsamic vinegar as you want and have such a vast and interesting selection of flavors. I am going to knock off a single star, however, because it is difficult to sample the oils and vinegars without something to absorb the very strong flavors with. As such, it can be difficult to sample enough flavors for choosing a product as the flavors are arguably too strong to taste by themselves. I did mention that allowing the sampler to have bread or something starchy with the oils and vinegars can make it easier to stomach and easier to choose their preferred product to whoever appeared to be in charge and was told that "bread would distract the sampler from the actual taste of the oil or vinegar" and that "professional chefs do not like to sample it with the bread as they want to taste the flavor by itself". Perhaps not every chef feels this way, however, and not everyone who is interested in this product is a professional chef. read more

What a treasure ! My advice- Just start talking to Hersh and Laura about what you're looking for, how you want to use the olive oil/vinegar and then shut up. LOL THAT'S when your journey begins !! They will have you trying flavors you never dreamed of- in dishes you never thought needed to be "kicked up notch". I was looking for a different oil to pop popcorn. I came in for a buttery olive oil (which I did buy and is deeelish) but left with a spicy garlic Parmesan oil that is fantastic! I would have never thought of that !! I mean the spicy part !! We now use it on almost anything even salad! We left with more than those 2 of course. I'm just sayin' if you're open to new flavors, let those concierges of taste take the wheel and you won't be disappointed!!! Will definitely be heading back there !! read more

This is a specialty store selling olive oil and balsamic vinegar located on a side street just off Penn Ave in the Strip District. I came there shopping for a gift, and was greeted by a friendly gentleman who gave me samples of an oil and a vinegar and then left me to myself. They have plenty of little plastic cups for sampling and all of their olive oils and balsamic vinegar a can be sampled. The selection is about standard for this type of store, maybe 20 or so different oils and the same for the balsamic vinegars. I got a Tuscan herb oil and then an unflavored extra virgin olive oil. It's well set up for gift giving and shipping because they had just a perfect sized box that fit these two bottles. I think prices were about standard for this type of store. The bottles were around $18 each. This would be a big luxury to buy for oneself, but for gifts it works out. Service was very nice and it wasn't crowded in the weekday that I went there. It's in the same building with a craft beer tasting room and a wine shop. It's worth going off Penn St to visit these stores. read more

This was my greatest find. I first stumbled upon this great gem where they were located in the community market in the strip. I had to wait very patiently for the shop to open and now it's in the heart of the Strip district. The Olive Tap sells premium olive oils and vinegars. They also sell dips and other condiments. The olive oils and vinegars can't be beat. They have everything from green apple and chocolate vinegar and Chipotle olive oil. They chocolate vinegar tastes amazing drizzled on ice cream (trust me on this one) and the jalapeño olive oil gives home popped popcorn the perfect kick. The vinegars and olive oils come in 100 mL and 375 mL bottles. Go with the larger bottle. It's a better buy and once you start using it, you'll be happy you got the bigger one. Wow, this place so so great. Huge variety of olive oils and vinegars (cider, balsamic). The gentleman gave us a tour of their wares. The herb olive oil tasted like it was freshly prepared with fresh herbs. Fell in love with the white truffle olive. The flavor is so potent and real and a little goes a long way. There are so many flavors of the vinegars and olive oils! This was the first place I've ever experienced something like this. The infusion of flavors and smells in the oils and vinegars are amazing. The fruit vinegars are especially notable, particularly the smells. I ended up buying the espresso vinegar and a sage mushroom oil. read more

Stumbled upon this place while visiting the strip, we all went in and looked around and wasn't sure if we should taste or not. Just as we were about to leave, the manger or owner I presume asked if we tasted anything, we responded no. And he happily gave us a true tasting of what they have to offer. I tried a few samples and got a liter of olive oil from Spain. This olive oil is excellent for salads and for cooking too. So, we haven't actually been to the store, but they had a booth set up at the May Mart...omgosh! These olive oils and vinegars are in one word, impressive, perfect, outstanding, delicious, worth every penny, above and beyond, etc. I know, I know, that's more than one word, but honestly, they're amazing. We agreed that we could drink them by the glass full. I purchased the Tuscan Blend, the Garlic/Mushroom, and the best selling classic olive oil. Would have gotten more, but I had to control myself. She let us taste test everything, and seriously, I feel like I've been buying garbage olive oils from the grocery store (even though I buy a pretty decent brand, usually), and the apple cider vinegar was incredible! We have been cooking with the oils every day and not only do they make the food taste delicious, but the house smells incredible. We will definitely be visiting the store, then I'll do an update. I'm not exaggerating when I say these products ignite my inner chef. Great products and the lady was super nice and informative. read more

I love love olive oil! This place is set up like a winery. You can walk around and taste each oil and vinegar. Each tap has a very detailed description of the product. I believe there was a demo going on when I was passing through. I wish I had more time to look in. I also spent a little time looking at the bath and body products. I use good grocery store olive oil on my skin and hair but nothing like what was available in this shop. I did end up tasting and purchasing a Peruvian olive oil. I can't wait to cook with it. read more

Visited Crested Duck's new location in the Pittsburgh Public Market. The lady took my order, and told me it would be about 20 minutes. That never bothers me to wait there, because there are such lovely businesses to check out. I have always passed The Olive Tap, but have never ventured inside. I decided to give it a go. I can't say whether I have happy, or sad that I have discovered this place. Because my pocketbook is sad, but my mouth is happy!!! I love vinegar. I put it on everything, and It makes up my salad dressings in most cases cause I make my own. I started off grabbing a tasting cup and went to town. Had the Aged Balsamic that tasted like liquid heaven, thick and sweet, and amazing. Then tried all the rest. I couldn't decide between 5 different vinegar infusions... so I bought them all! They were heavenly. Fig infused, Dark chocolate, Serrano pepper and honey, aged premium, and white premium balsamic all came home with me. To top it off I grabbed a bottle of the rosemary infused extra virgin olive oil. I couldn't stop myself! The lady I think felt bad for me and threw in a box of free chocolates for my visit. I do not regret it at all!!!!! Fantastic products, and such fun to taste them all. read more
