This drab, somewhat corporate restaurant serves mediocre Middle Eastern/Mediterranean grub -- primarily, it seems, to nearby "Dahntahn" office workers looking for a quick fix. During my visit with a few companions, our main issue was the wait time: a collection of reheated falafel balls, premade salad, and hummus -- all of it uninspired -- took about 20 mins. to arrive. Moreover, the service was downright lazy. Not only do you have to order from an electronic, self-serve kiosk; and not only will the servers (if there are any) not bring your food to your table; but you even have to maneuver BEHIND THE SERVICE COUNTER to get a drink, should you choose to buy one, from the refrigerator! They cannot even be bothered to hand a pop to you! It all raises the question: what are the employees here being paid to do, exactly? Let me tell you: they are certainly not brainstorming ways to improve this business! read more

I used to love this place, but something seems to have changed when they moved their location a few doors down. I love that there is a fast casual middle eastern spot downtown. especially one open on Saturdays and in the evening. it adds a nice variety. and there is a nice variety of menu items. From combos to entrees. one of my favorites is the platters because you choose one or two meats, choose an appetizer, sauce and you also get a small salad and nice portion of rice. Overall, food is generally pretty tasty. But the last two times I ordered, meat and rice were both dried out and I was missing something with both orders. Staff wasn't very apologetic for the errors, either. I'm still happy downtown has this place, but I wish quality and service were more consistent. read more

The portions are generous. Spring rolls are a no go. The chicken and lamb were decent although a bit salty and slightly burnt. The baklava was good. The rice wasn't as fresh as I would've liked but overall not a bad spot for dinner. read more

It was OK. Good in a pinch, I guess. Here's the good and bad: Good: chicken schwarma saj with spicy garlic sauce. Tender chicken, well flavored and the sauce was indeed a little spicy. Not so good: Plate with kofta. Rice was plain white, arugula salad was 90% onion, hummus was bland and the kofta was thin and dry. Not worth the $ read more

Rosewater Middle Eastern Grill was another one of my go-to lunch spots back when I worked downtown, and it never let me down. The food is always fresh and tasty. I love the chicken shawarma and warm pita bread. The staff is super friendly. If you want a quick, delicious meal without any fuss, this is the place to go. read more

i ordered the chicken shawarma wrap and when i opened it up it just looked like a lazily prepared grease bomb. the pita was just sitting in grease. it wasn't press grilled, and wasnt cut in slices like they used to do it the past. no sauce, and the chicken was very dry. so basically i had an over cooked dry chicken grease bomb wrap. this is the second time in a row that i ordered this and was disappointed by the food quality. I tried to eat at least half since i already paid for it, but ended up throwing away the rest unfortunately. i will not be back and also cannot recommend this place, as I did not enjoy my food at all. Go to Madonna's instead. read more

I have been coming here for years whenever I work downtown. Always delicious, I always get the platter 1 with two proteins. The staff is super friendly as well. I wanted to shout them out this time because they changed their location replacing the Arby's on Liberty. They have gelled into this place perfectly. Very clean interior, sharp and modern. read more

Menu was a little confusing but the customizable options were appreciated. You really have the chance to get a combo of your favorite middle eastern foods. Great local place if you want a quick bite that isn't subway or jimmy johns. The gyro wrap was satisfying, excellent sauce. The service was very friendly and since I was waiting for my friend to arrive to order, he encouraged me to take a menu back to the table and relax while I waited for her. The food is so wonderful and almost everything on the menu looks good. I love how the wrap was served and need to get one next time. It's a typical counter service atmosphere. Nothing special. But good enough. I will definitely go back. read more

We got the burrito style bowl and a chicken wrap. Both were excellent. Went to the counter to order our food. Was quick, efficient and rang in with a smile. Quiet place when we were there for dinner, only one other group, although we were a little early and more started arriving as we departed, so not sure if it would get noisier. read more

Disappointing to say the least. Ordered at the counter, I got a spinach pie and a Mediterranean salad. I didn't care for the spinach pie, it was encased in dough that tasted like Wonderbread. I was expecting phyllo not Wonderbread. The salad was ok but again, I was expecting a green salad with feta cheese and kalamata olives. My friend had stuffed grape leaves which were served ice cold. He also had a spinach and feta pie. I left still feeling hungry. I'll never go back read more

Ignored my order, unresponsive and dismissive when i asked for an update, but the food tastes fine.

Fantastic overall foodie experience. Delicious options! Owner is super involved and provides superlative expert guidance through their expansive menu choices. I chose very basic items - grilled chicken tikka masala and their lamb kebab. All arrived with a delicious rice pilaf and a flatbread which was between a Pita and a tortilla in thickness. Taste and seasoning are 10/10, for sure! Yes, maybe a shade more spice upon request will fit better, but this meal was INCREDIBLE! read more

Fresh, healthy, and large portions of food. WOW, on a short work trip and found this gem to be a short walk from hotel. 2-1/2 Stars. Pre-concert dinner. Suggested by a friend, so didn't know what to expect. A bit dingy around the edges. No atmosphere at all. The counter man was a bit nasty. They had about five hot sauces on the menu. I asked him what one was like, and he said "It's hot sauce." Oh, really?!? When I went, mid-meal to ask for some of that hot sauce, he acted like it was a big imposition. Food was pretty good. Falafel sandwich, hummus, and 'red' tabbouleh, which was tasty, but served overly cold. Cafeteria style trays to receive your food. Turns out it really wasn't as nice a place as we were looking for. Maybe good for a mid-day lunch stop. Maybe the day help is friendlier? Probably wouldn't return. read more

What a charming little spot for some great Middle Eastern food! I stumbled upon this hidden gem walking from Dollar General towards a bus stop and knew I needed to try it. The prices are great, and the food is truly authentic. I had my food within five minutes of ordering, and the staff was very welcoming. The warm and welcoming ambience mixed with the lovely soothing music, makes for the perfect atmosphere to tickle your taste buds and live in your senses. This is a small 'fast food' style restaurant. There are about ten tables. The food is very good. The falafel are crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. I added hummus to my falafel pita wrap. It was delicious. We also got a chicken shawarma quesadilla. Yes. A quesadilla at a middle eastern restaurant! It was good, a little odd (cheese with shawarma....). Finally, got a gyro, replacing the tahini with cucumber yogurt sauce. Again, solid wraps. I'd definitely come here again. Great place for a quick bite before a ballgame! read more

I'm not sure how this place rates highly on Google and Yelp. Service was a zero, bc there was zero service. You order at the screen, they barely call your number when your food is ready. Food is edible, but not anything I would say was exceptional. They had forgotten to give us the bottled water we ordered, we went back up to ask for it. The guy just handed it to us. No verbal exchange, not a sorry about that. This is why I'm perplexed of the high star ratings. read more

Huge variety of Mediterranean and middle eastern foods in a variety of serving options. Service is quick and kind. I was on my lunch break and in-and-out in 10 minutes. The food was delish. The chicken schwarma was everything I wanted it to be. The chicken schwarma pita wrap had French fries in it. The salad had more onions than spring mix. The food here is very unusual and delicious. The owner is extremely nice and engaging. When I told him it was my first time he started offering me samples of everything. The food here is Arabic, and it has a long tradition and a proximity to the spice trade. Many have mentioned how authentic the food is, and I would have to agree, even though I'm not that knowledgeable. It all tastes great, and it is made with great care. The wait time is rather short and the prices are very reasonable, especially for Downtown. The location is convienient to the Cultural District. read more

Ordered from Rosewater Middle Eastern Grill tonight and we were pleasantly surprised! I have been hearing a lot about this place recently, and all the reviews that I read have said amazing things, so we decided to give it a shot. Although we're weren't able to experience the ambiance since we had it delivered, the food was incredible! The chicken was super juicy still, and the rice was very flavorful and fluffy! The side salad and fattoush were also very fresh, and balanced the meat perfectly! I would highly recommend ordering from here if you're looking for quick service and a good meal! I honestly was so hungry and enjoying everything from my visit that I forgot to take pictures! We stumbled upon this location. We entered during lunch time with a group of 12. The location is spacious, and right away, the staff was welcoming. As we looked at the menus, a staff person handed out samples of the chicken shwarma. That sold me right away. I ordered a burrito style bowl. I did want Pita instead of tortilla, but I could not substitute it. I got it with chicken schwarma, hummus, and yogurt cucumber, topped with hot garlic. The meal was delicious and filling! I enjoyed that everything is in a bowl on top of a giant tortilla so that when you get through some of it, you can roll it up in a burrito if you'd like. read more

Let's start off by saying the owner is just hands down amazing, confident, and very talented. He is super welcoming and loves when people ask about his food. The food is made in house homemade, which literally can't get any better than that honestly! My husband and I are vegetarian and we tried the falafel, spring veggie quesadillas, falafel wrap, and the baklava which is absolutely chefs kiss! This is usually my husbands and I's date night place whether we go out and eat in or stay home and order from DoorDash. We love this place so so much and they even offer catering! I stopped by here a couple of Saturday's ago with my wife for dinner. We had actually noticed Rosewater Grille earlier in the day while driving down Liberty Ave. It is located in the former Qdoba right near the Wood Street station. After looking up the reviews on Yelp and then at the menu, we decided to get dinner from there later in the night. So whenever the evening came we fired up a computer and placed an order. We arrived at the time given to us from the website and our food was ready and we were quickly on our way home. For dinner on this evening I decided to go with a platter and chose a kofta kebab and chicken shawarma for my meats, falafel and fries as my sides. Then since I was having trouble deciding between the sauces I went with the 220 hot sauce and the pomegranate molasses, paying 50 cents for the extra sauce. My wife also went with a platter and chose the kofta kebab and lamb tikka for her meats, the falafel and rice as her sides and then the cucumber yogurt for her sauce. Finally we also ordered a baba Ganoush to split. Once I opened my food I dug in and was very happy that we had chosen the Rosewater Grille for dinner. Both my kofta kebab and chicken schwarma with kebab having a nice heat to it. The falafel had some good spices in and the fries were just fries. It was both of the sauces which were the stars of the night for me though. The hot sauce had both a nice flavor and was spicy which is super rare to get. Then the pomegranate molasses sauce was both sweet and sour which made for a nice contrast. I used both of them until the very end on pretty much all of my meal. After I had finished with my dinner I ended up trying the baba ganoush with the accompanying pita. It had that smoky eggplant flavor to it which I love in a baba ganoush and paired nicely with the pita. My wife also really enjoyed her lamb tikka and kofta kebab which she ordered. The bottom line for me is that I would stop by here again in the future. It's different than most places around Pittsburgh and both my wife and I enjoyed everything that we ordered. read more

The food was ready reasonably quickly and the place is clean and comfortable. It was a rainy week night so only a few other customers. I had the falafel plate and it was perfect - moist and springy, not too dense, not too oily or hard. The hummus was also very tasty. Great for grabbing a quick bite before or after a movie at the Harris Theater across the street! read more

Rosewater. Is. Phenomenal. I really can't say enough great things about this place. I usually get a platter with falafel and veggies, rice, and hummus. Everything is so flavorful and fresh! The falafel is crispy on the outside and moist in the inside, the veggies have an incredible flavor from the grill, the rice is well seasoned, and the hummus is delicious. The small arugula salad that it comes with is tasty as well! I also HIGHLY recommend the hot garlic sauce. The appetizers and salads are all wonderful, fresh, and flavorful. I've heard the lamb is to die for. You really cannot go wrong here. Everyone is so friendly too, and they usually offer you a sample of shawarma or falafel when you walk through the door! read more
