Oh gosh where to start. I worked here for a bit when it was OES and it is such a cool building so I was super excited to see a restaurant that would fit the aesthetic go in. It might be a chain but at least it was started in Oregon. We had a reservation for 5:45 and got there on time to a line out the door and some people that were leaving to go elsewhere. When I went to check in I was told it would be a 45 min wait... I clarified even with a reservation and was told yes we took too many walk-ins... We had tickets to a show at the Hult Center as I'm sure many others who were there did being that it's two blocks away. While we waited I looked around the dining rooms a bit to see what was the same and what was different some of the management talked to me a bit and told me some fun facts about where different pieces of glass in the building came from what they'd changed and such. They managed to squeeze us into a booth in the bar in about a half hour. We decided everything we wanted to order asap so that we could make it to our show in time and then waited for quite a bit to even have our waitress show up. When she was finally able to get to us Maddie was a very helpful and friendly waitress! Every entree comes with salad (with a choice of dressing) or soup, bread and some ice cream. We ordered our salad with Caesar dressing not realizing or being told that it would be interpreted as wanting the $2.99 upgrade to an actual small Caesar salad that was probably one of the most soggy Caesar salads I've eaten, it was like they bathed the lettuce in Caesar dressing flavored water and I definitely would not choose to pay 3 dollars more for it. The fresh bread was good but we also ordered the cheesy garlic bread to try and that was nothing to write home about, it was dry like it is made from yesterday's bread. We ordered the garlic Mizithra pasta that has bacon and mushrooms and the Garlic shrimp Fettuccine. The Mizithra pasta came out as just the plain cheese version at first so they had to make a new one with the correct ingredients. While they corrected that we are the garlic shrimp Fettuccine. The menu says it's a garlic cream sauce with hints of lemon, shallots and white wine, none of those flavors came through, not even garlic. The one thing that completely overpowered the dish was spicy, if I had to write the description for that menu item it would be pasta and shrimp with spicy heavy cream. When we finished scarfing that down trying to get to our show in time we were thankful when Maddie walked out with the other dish. This was more enjoyable than the first but without the bacon and cheese it would be very boring although the browned butter is also a very nice touch. Maddie quickly got our check and bagged up our ice cream so we could eat it in our walk to the Hult and we thankfully made it in time. This was a learning experience for us and I'm sure also an evening of many learning experiences for their management and staff. I'm not sure but this may have been their first Friday evening when there was an event going on at the hult center and on top of that there were actually two shows there last night which will definitely add an influx of people to that area. They definitely have kinks to iron out but a busy Friday night may not have been the best time for us to first try it out. I think I'll be back for a potentially quieter week day lunch and hopefully they will have a smoother operation running by then! read more

As a Eugene native - I didn't want to like this place. Growing up celebrating almost every major life milestone at OES... I just wasn't thrilled about a franchise coming in. I was wrong. This originally Oregon company came in & preserved the historic vibe & actually enhanced its 1920s vintage look - we were greeted with an intuitive hostess, seated & served by Ruby whose personality made it an experience we won't forget. The manager Jack pulled up a chair & made us feel welcome, included & excited to book events here (for future luncheons). And the food outpaced Pastini & others in flavor, ingenuity & creativity. Drinks were classic & well designed - Ruby's husband knows how to make a paper airplane The food came fast, hot & the service was 10/10 - refreshing & impressive for typical Eugene dining. Ambiance is kinda' funky as always, nothing special and nothing to dislike. The women's rest room as a handicap stall that's not accessible to anyone with a walker or wheelchair. He showed up to say "Hi" and ask for our drink order. We were ready to order food but instead he brushed us off and left to return with water about 5 minutes later. We were excited when the Old Spaghetti Factory moved into the old OES building, a perfect fit for the existing decor! I've been a fan for decades having started with the San Diego location. We are OP's (older peoples) so we dine @ the hospitality zombie hour (between lunch and dinner crushes) and dinned in the bar area. The server/bartender/bus boy had his hands full so service was sketchy but at least his manager was trying to help out instead of hiding in his office. Called four days in advance for seven person reservation, confirmed two days prior seeking wine cellar area for reservation and called day of to confirm. Arrive ten minutes early to reservations to be told another had it reserved. We did not get wine cellar as reserved. Group that had it had been seated just ahead of us arriving. Wait staff was off on timing. Ordered apps only got one, placed food order, waited almost thirty minutes for salad and soups, three minutes later our dinners were served. Eh. It's ok. Service was good and we were seated faster than I thought we would be. We had a large table, 12 people, and we received our drinks right away. Food is so-so. It's good and not super expensive, so that's good. It was lukewarm warm though. The salad was rather lack luster. It's ice berg lettuce which is like the catfish of the garden...just a bottom feeder. Our order wasn't 100% correct, so we had to send it back. However, they did get it back to us quickly. The dessert is so-so. Small scoop of ice cream. I don't think I'd come back unless there wasn't other places to go. I will say the building is beautiful and we had a private room (an old box car), which was pretty cool. read more

Don't know how the food is. Didn't get to eat. Secured a reservation in advance of our visit, particularly since we drove up from outside Roseburg for a nice meal. Got there and there were more people waiting outside than fit in the restaurant. People still waiting for a table 45 minutes after their reservation time. I forced my way through the mass of humanity and the hostess just laughed and said there was nothing they could do, and they couldn't estimate how long it might be before they had a table for us. They could learn how reservations work and not overbook. My wife wasn't feeling well, and it wasn't worth waiting hours in the cold for the chance that we might get a table. I have rarely been so furious, I want my time and my gas money back. I will NEVER return. I will tell EVERYONE I know to avoid this place like the plague. It's sad, because the Oregon Electric Station was my grandparents' favourite restaurant, and my parents' favourite restaurant. It's been awhile since eating here due to previous restaurant closing due to covid. This is a great location and ambiance. We enjoyed our dinner in one of several actual railway cars. The menu is varied and hasn't changed much from our visits when living in SoCal. We started off with the house baked small loaf of bread. My son ordered the roasted wild mushroom ravioli. He opted for the marinara instead of white sauce. Very flavorful and robust, he enjoyed it. My wife had the spinach and meat tortellini. So many tasty ingredients that blended well for a very pleasurable dish. I opted for the meat lovers plate and it delivered on all counts. It was hearty and filling. Not going to lie, I wasn't super thrilled when I heard they were opening yet another chain restaurant but I was one of the first to dine there when they opened this month. As soon as I walked in, memories flooded my senses. The fresh bread, the garlic, all the wood and vibrant colors. Customer service was spot on, our reservation time was respected (reservations not required), orders were requested promptly but no rush. Fresh bread and salads followed shortly (they still have the pesto ranch, which is amazing). Ordered the Managers Special (choose 2'of the popular toppings). You cannot eat at OSF and not have mizithra cheese and brown butter, the salty semi dry cheese in a savory butter sauce...delish!! I also ordered the mushroom sauce which was full of fresh large sautéed mushrooms. Dessert of course was either Spumoni ice cream ( more green, please), vanilla or sherbet. Overall it was a great meal and there were leftovers for the next day. Price has gone up by about $10 since the last time I had OSF but $20 isn't bad for the customer service, quality and quantity. You can scan a QR code and see their GF menu, you can also choose broccoli instead of pasta, add sausage and/or meatballs too. I ate at the original OSF in Portland, OR, and later on Macadam Avenue. Consistently good food and great service. The recently-opened OSF in Eugene? The interior design and cleanliness is outstanding. But, oh such problems: The service the first time, about two weeks ago? Very slow. Grossly understaffed. What little staff there was, we were told they were new. Polite but obviously had lots of training to do. My meal was not what I ordered. By the time I caught the attention of a waiter and got the correct order, my husband had finished his meal and then some. I requested a cherry for my Black Manhattan, which should come with it automatically. The waiter brought the cherry, holding it by the stem with his fingers and depositing into my drink. Yesterday? Waited twenty minutes for acknowledgement of our presence, only after I caught the reluctant eye of the only server visible. He said our waiter was so and so and would be with us shortly. Another wait, ten minutes more. Once he presented, service was good. My husband's meal was tasty. I ordered what was described as Garlic Mizithra, Spaghetti with Mizithra Cheese & Browned Butter tossed with sautéed garlic, bacon, and mushrooms. There was not one whit of garlic; the mushrooms were not fresh, and burnt and curled and flavorless. The bacon was either burnt or undercooked. The Black Manhattan? Tasted like cough medicine. There were two men greeters at the front, and a manager, all visiting with each other for all to hear, while the two servers were obviously rushed and doing the best they could. In closing, I have read prior reviews of understaffing, long waits, etc. We gave it two chances. It's all true. Gus and Sally Dussin would be horrified. read more

I was so excited to see that this favorite of mine was coming all the way to Eugene! I heard the rumor months ago and then forgot. Then, on a random Thursday, there it was on my Yelp feed for Italian. I was beyond excited. I think the building they chose is beautiful. I have always been a fan of the Oregon Electric Station building. I had not been there in a long time and somehow this place totally fits the vibe for this menu. I was expecting a wait as it looked very busy but this place is huge so we waited less than five minutes. There is a pay to park lot next to the building. The good news is that parking for the first hour is free. The hostess was very sweet and seated us quickly. The waiter was immediately at our table taking our drink order. The staff is on top of everything. I ordered a glass of sangria that was amazing. I also saw that they had a special of the month Italian soda that a kiddo at the next table had ordered. I can't lie, I was jealous. I will remember that for next time. Our meal was three course. My husband and I were twinning so we both ordered salad with their pesto ranch, chicken piccata, and the spumoni ice cream. They also bring you a fresh baked loaf of bread for the table. The salad and bread were great. Our main course took a bit to get out to us and unfortunately when it arrived we both took a bite of our chicken and looked at each other and said, "is yours cold"? Alas, yes, the chicken was lukewarm at best and that is being generous. It was, however, cooked and tasted amazing. I am chalking it up to startup stuff in this case. I did mention it to the server and was told they had been having some issues with that and he would pass that on. The pasta was perfection and the ice cream made the meal. We were both stuffed so I wasn't kicking myself at the end for not ordering an appetizer (ok, really I was because they all sounded so good) but I will plan accordingly next time. 100% will be back because I am so happy to have this old staple so close to home now! read more

Wife really wanted to try this place because she's seen it in other towns. We got sat in a train car with our daughters loved. Our server was fun and nice. We started with calamari that was very good and not overcooked. We all ordered entrees. Wife got there special of chicken breast with spaghetti and a topping that I can't recall the name of. I got the chicken fettuccine and our daughter got clam sauce with spaghetti. Our youngest got butter noodles. It comes with soup or salad and bread. Also ice cream at the end. All included with your entree. The food was really good. I feel it was worth the $20ish dollars per plate. We had some cocktails that also hit the spot nicely. I made reservations for a large group, and we got to be seated in the wine cellar room (was very cool!) Our server Neal and our busser Owen were amazing. Even though they were busy and it took a little bit of time to get everything, we completely understood because we were a large group and they were still very attentive. Plus it gave us all more time to visit and enjoy ourselves. Everyone loved their food. I had the Sicilian meatball spaghetti dinner and it was delicious. The sauce actually tastes like it was made fresh today, and was delicious. The bread, salad, and ice cream that comes with any entrée's was all good. My old childhood friend and I were so excited that the "Old Spaghetti Warehouse" which used to be a staple restaurant for those who loved good service, a fun family atmosphere, and boasting as much as you can eat, and rarely anyone could consume another bite (if you're an old timer, remember the commercial?). Anyway, it is now "The Old Spaghetti Factory" located in the quaint, beautiful historic downtown district occupied by the former Electric Station. So, we decided to go there for lunch today to check out how it compared with our fondest memories of the Old Spaghetti Warehouse. The atmosphere was beautiful with stained glass windows and the original grandeur of the old Electric Station, which was for such elegant dining back in the day. Our waiter was very attentive, and the service was excellent. My friend ordered one of her favorites, the lasagna, and I ordered the chicken fettuccine served with broccoli and mushrooms. I thought it was interesting that our server asked if I wanted to leave out the veggies. I said, absolutely not, why would he even ask that unless there were complaints. We ordered the garlic bread as an appetizer first, as it was highly recommended. It was served with marinara dipping sauce, which was delicious. A definite plus. The next entree included soup or salad. My partner ordered the minestrone soup and I had the regular salad with blue cheese dressing. First, her soup was lukewarm and bland; my salad was from a bag of pre-mix from Costco. It was mediocre at best. When our entrees arrived, my friend said the marinara sauce didn't have a lot of flavor, and the lasagna was a disappointment. My fettuccine was okay, but nothing special. Therefore, my critique is mixed... the location is perfect, the service was excellent, but the food was needing something more to make me want to come back- especially for those prices... it averaged a minimum of $20 per meal, not including extras like drinks...and unlike the Old Spaghetti Warehouse, no seconds or thirds...haha read more

Don't get me wrong eating in a train car is rad and all but it doesn't make up for the fact that place is clearly old AF and they haven't replace stuff like the carpet in prolly ever. Earlier my partner had asked if Applebees was any good and honestly they are probably about the same. This review is based on my first visit to The Old Spaghetti Factory, but I will give it another try (or two) and update my review. From what I saw of it, the building is beautiful! I mean, seriously just gorgeous. We made a reservation a few days in advance and they sat us in a booth in the bar which was surprising. That seems like a space for overflow, not for someone who made reservations three days in advance. Although very disappointing, it wasn't that bad at first because there weren't many people in the bar. It quickly got more crowded and then really wasn't the atmosphere we had hoped for. We also never got to see the restaurant. I think this was the thing that bothered me the most. I had a Lemon Drop that was very good. The Olive Tapenade was REALLY good. They recommended their pesto house dressing and it had almost no flavor at all. The Lasagna was so rich it was hard to eat. It was good I guess, and I think this might be just a matter of taste, but really rich. The sauce on top was also too tomatoey. Again, I will try it again, but wasn't exactly happy with our first visit. read more

We went for lunch on Saturday afternoon before a Hult center show. Everyone in the party enjoyed their meal. We had white clam spaghetti , mushroom spaghetti , lobster ravioli and cheese spinach ravioli. Appetizers Tepanade, cheesy bread , and artichoke dip. Loaf of sourdough was served with our salads. If you are an Olive Garden fan try this place. They don't make homemade noodles on premise or fancy high end sauces and they don't say they do. It was cheaper on the wallet than OG and we finished lunch in an hour with very pleasant and attentive service. The ice cream at the end of the meal is a nice touch and I hope doesn't go away. We were celebrating a high school graduation and we were a party of 7. The manager had to scramble to seat 7 because I had a reservation for 6. My fault. But we ordered drinks and a bottle of wine. She says she is not old enough to serve wine I have to wait for the manager. I said. It's a screw top just bring it and she says she can't. We wait another 10 minutes. The lasagna and fettuccine for dinner were really good! My husband and I split and shared our meals. The salad, bread, and spumoni that came with the meal was very yummy, too! Our waiter did a good job. I love Old Spaghetti Factory restaurants with their food and decor! They are hard to come by for us, though, since we call SW Missouri home. The parking at this one is not good. They only have four parking spaces. You have to pay to park at the public parking lot down the street and walk a couple of blocks including under a bridge. We were somewhat worried about our safety in the area. There were a lot of homeless around and under bridges that we had seen. Maybe, it was totally safe, but we just didn't know. read more
