Haven't been to this restaurant since it was the Lamplighter back in the 80's. My wife wanted to give it a go, so we did. I thought it looked very similar to what I remember, except it had live animals outside (which was pretty neat) as far as the food and service goes: service was very friendly and quick, food came out hot. I went to the Oak House Restaurant with family and had a pretty negative experience. I tried their chicken and waffles only to have a bland tasting meal with harder crusted dry tasting chicken on top not only that the server didn't even make sure if we needed refills. Not to sound entitled but that should be a common diner experience for your waitress/waiter to check at least a couple times. I will start by saying this place was chosen by a family member and yes they do have a large Trump 2024 sign outside. Additionally, in the front they have 3 african Greys, an Eclectus parrot, chickens, and a few doves. For service, they are popular (many of the patrons sharing the values of the sign outside), they are extremely under staffed. The food came quickly and was ok, nothing amazing, but expect to wait for the check and to pay. I had to thrust the check at our server to be able to pay and going to the front to pay also resulted in a long wait as well. I totally don't blame the server, she was working hard and was the only one there to work the register and wait the tables. I'm going to talk about the birds for a moment as they are part of the reasoning for the lower score. While the parrots seem well fed, there are 3 greys in a cage that is the minimum for a single bird and I'm not expert but that and the cage being in a loud, heavily trafficked area doesn't seem to fit what is right for the needs of these birds. Additionally, the state of the doves, which I do know how to raise, really upset me. There were multiple doves in their cage and a few had others picking out their feathers to the point a few had balding areas and there was very little food in the cage. They owner really should be addressing this. All in all for me, while I found the food was just ok at least not outlandishly priced but will not go back for multiple reasons. read more

Waited a long time for our food. On the plus side, I think it was all made correctly. We had some guests never get a refill on their drink. After we got our food, we were never checked back up on. Right after we finished our food, we were told to leave. I can understand that if we were sitting around for a while but we had just finished. We never were asked for boxes to take leftovers home.
