I use to love the Nugget. I have spent a lot of money here and always tipped at least 20% or more. Recently I have been there 5 times during their "open" hours to find it closed. TODAY I called and was assured they would be open until 7 drove right there after my call to have them say "oops sorry we are closing early". If you don't want to be in business sell it to someone that does because any BS or excuses about closing early when someone calls first (and SAYS that it has been annoying to find it closed when it is supposed to be open), by their own hours is crap. I'm done. I won't be back and I won't recommend to anyone ever again. Sell it to some one who wants to be open or bet it in a card game and lose to someone who wants to run a restaurant. read more

You know a place is good when it's in an airport and most of its customers aren't hopping on a plane! This is a diner-style place: breakfast all day, lunch too (and even dinner here, a non-diner feature!), carpet of questionable maintenance status, and extra-friendly service. They also have one of those refrigerated pie cases. You know, that transparent, tower-style refrigerator that would be useless for anything but pies? That. The pies are supposed to be the best thing here but...I didn't try any. I'm sorry. Next time when I haven't already put on 10lbs of holiday weight! In two weeks in Sitka I ate here twice, and wished I had made it thrice! Awesome, big, beefy breakfasts! The coffee sucks (authentic, for a diner) but there are unlimited amounts. (you get your own coffee here, which I actually prefer, no refill anxiety!) Definitely come here if you're in Sitka. If you're flying out around breakfast time, check your bags and come eat over here! read more

Thankful for a full belly from the Nugget at the Sitka airport after being turned away from brekkie at Mean Queen at 11:25am on a Saturday. The Nugget was out of chicken fried steak so ordered the corned beef hash, sub fries, biscuit, and side of gravy. Companion had a meaty omelette with biscuit and $1 upgrade to crispy hash browns. Crispy biscuits were actually super tasty dipped into the gravy, corned beef hash cooked to crispy perfection, gravy had decent flavor, over hard eggs were delicious, and omelette wasn't over cooked or brown. They've got breakfast down. Brought our own coffees from Highliner and they didn't bat an eye. Loved our server, he was so kind and apologetic regarding being out of the steak, it being busy, and I guess we got the last two biscuits in the house! read more

This restaurant is located before security it is only open until 2:00. They breakfast and lunch all day. We'll until 2! They have Halibut or rockfish along with full menu. I got the rockfish. Their fish is local and fresh. It was good but not great. The restaurant was casual and packed. I'm not sure which server I had 4 different people wait on me. I heard one customer complain to manager about a rude waitress but I thought they were taking care of everyone pretty good. read more

Lots of expectations coming in to here. I was really looking forward to huge portions and good food, but was let down multiple times by lazy workers and a bad meal. Every time I go here the place is absolutely packed, filled with sports teams and adults. Our service was pretty bad, but the prices were cheap. My group ordered Shrimp cocktail, pancakes, and more, but we all got pancakes, must of been a miscommunication, because only 1 of us ordered pancakes. Our waiter barely spoke to us, usually bringing the wrong food/drink, but still had the audacity to ask for a tip. The prawn basket (also the wrong order), had 4 farm fished prawns in it, and had more butter than I could handle. The pancakes however, were very big, uncooked on the inside and burnt on the outside. The only thing here that was good was the milk, it tastes straight from the cow. I am honestly very frustrated with The Nugget, but I guess this is what you can expect for such a cheap price, as of for now, I'll stick to pop tarts. read more

Classic Sitka diner that just happens to be in the airport. Food is good most of the time, pies are well known (wish they would make sure they are golden brown and not falling apart). The nugget burger is a monster of a burger, usually a go-to for me. Sometime speed is an issue here, workers are usually really nice. read more

As the only restaurant available on the same side of the bridge as the airport, I was expecting the usual mediocre American fare that one usually finds in places with a captive audience. I was pleasantly surprised by the vegetarian omelet. The vegetables were done just right - not overdone or underdone. The broccoli was very high quality. I would definitely come back. read more

We came here before our flight to Seattle and next time I come through, I have to stop here to get the pie and something that comes with fries. We ordered the blackberry strawberry rhubarb pie along with fried clam strips and fries. The fried clam strips were good but the fries and pie were standouts. The fries have a very light batter on them that makes them so crispy and delicious and the pie came to me warmed and with real whipped cream on the crust and a nice helping by the tip of the pie slice. I thought the pie would be too sweet but I followed the waitress's recommendation and I am glad I did. By the way, she was great, I wish I got her name. Great service! The place also has a full bar and I will definitely be stopping in next time I come through. read more

Wow, what a great surprise, with a bit of extra time before our flight out of Sitka. I wasn't too hungry and just had toast, but hubby had a delicious grilled halibut sandwich. They have a bar and a decent beer selection. And a large selection of pies by the piece or whole pie. We sure wish the hotel staff knew about this restaurant when we asked where we could get a burger and beer; they didn't know of anywhere. BTW, there were locals eating here who didn't appear to be heading in or out, just there for the food. To top it off, great view of the area surrounding the airport, and can even do a little bird watching from the large expanse of windows. A great find! read more

The food is average. Average at best, maybe a little better than Coco's or Denny's or Shari's or Elmers. However, no one comes here for the food, do they? This is the Sitka Airport, not a place you stay for long layovers or have to arrive earlier than 45 minutes for a flight. On the other hand, their pies are to rave about. Massive, affordable, full of flavor and packed with calories, there's no better experience at this airport than grabbing a fork and chopping your way through one of their pies. It's worth every penny, every bite and the 10 step walk from check in. When in Sitka (other than seafood) there's no better meal that you must have, even if you aren't hungry. read more

We called in from the aircraft, by the time we landed and headed to Nugget Restaurant, our King Salmon Burgers and Prime Rib Sandwiches we're hot and ready for us!! The service was great!! It's nice to have breakfast on Sunday, but the food is always at least an hour after ordering and then it's mostly cold. There simply is not enough staff! My recommendation is to wait and eat another day. The food is not bad for airport fare, but the staff in the kitchen is very slow. read more

I give it 4 stars compared to other diners in Sitka. Prices are decent, food is good not great. I have only had lunch and breakfast though, would like to try the prime rib. They do have a nice selection for lunch ( can also get most breakfast items also). read more

We had brunch at the Nugget as one of the few places that serves breakfast on weekdays. I'd say it was completely average. One thing I couldn't get over was the smell - very strong and greasy, like there needed to be more ventilation. We had: Waffle (me): hotel breakfast bar level, nothing special Omelette with shrimp (husband): pretty good but a bit too bland, hash browns were good (I tasted them too!) Kids pancake and bacon (the kid): hit the spot - hard to go wrong with these 2 things for our son! He was the most enthusiastic. They have a long pie menu posted so if we go back sometime while flying through, I'd like to try their pie. read more
