Pretty good for a restaurant right on a cruise dock. They have their own merchandise, and it's right when you walk in. Then you wait to be seated, and there's a big restaurant area. We were docked with the cruise ship and weren't able to grab food while exploring Sitka due to the time crunch, but man were we glad to have been able to eat here! This is a crab-themed seafood restaurant situated right as you walk off the cruise ship. It seemed very new and clean. The server was attentive. I tried the Alaskan Brewing Company pilsner and it was awesomely crisp and refreshing. The clam chowder was good but really soared with the addition of Cholula hot sauce. Hubby got the crab roll which he said was good but not $30 good. We shared a basket of fries which were seasoned nicely. Due to weather we had cancelled our cruise ship shore excursion yet we wanted to at least get off the ship. HPCC is conveniently located right next to the ship's pier. We were quickly seated in a large spacious high ceilinged dining room with exposed wood beams and were warmly welcomed by our server, ADRIAN. He was very friendly (he even acknowledged my University of Miami cap!) and was very helpful describing the menu and offering crab meat extraction advice. He let me sample 2 beers before choosing a delicious locally brewed IPA. We had clam chowder in a bread bowl and 2 lbs of king crab at a market price of apx. $67.50/lb. The chowder was excellent and had just the right amount of spiceness and the crab was rich and fresh with plenty of drawn butter for dipping. With the crab came sourdough corn fritters with honey butter which were also excellent. An awesome 70's and 80's classic rock soundtrack at just the right volume was very enjoyable. The tab for food and drink before tip was $189 for two. Considering the delicious food, ambiance, quality of service and convenient ship pier location, I'd consider HPC&C a great value. Wow probably some of the best king crab legs I've ever had! Looked way more than 3lbs too. The crab wasn't salty which was nice and paired well with the butter. Every piece was just so delicious and pretty big too! My family was happy and satisfied with the king crab legs. Yeah it was pricy but it was well worth it. The corn fritters that came with it was pretty good but you need to eat it with the honey butter that it comes with. The staff was kind and welcoming. Whatever questions we had about the crab she was able to answer and she brought us out anything we needed and more. This place was right next to the cruise port which made it convenient if you don't go into the town. We did not ask until we were almost finished, if they had Old Bay seasoning. They did! We would have enjoyed the crab and shrimp more had we seasoned them from the beginning. The boil had reindeer sausage, which actually was pretty good. Someone else with us had the clam chowder and a salad. The clam chowder was in a bread bowl! She said the clam chowder was very good. I was doing some research before our Alaskan trip and the Halibut Point Crab & achiever and it appeared this restaurant was highly recommended. So because if this, it was a must to come here. When we were finally able to get to Halibut Point Crab & Chowder (because it was kind of a hike from where we docked), I was super excited. We ordered the Alaskan Crab Combo & the clam chowder. My husband had some beer. Let's just say the food did NOT disappoint. It was soo good and so fresh...I wish I had a bigger stomach because I would have ordered more! Our tour guide sent us to the worst Crab-Seafood Boil I have ever had! We spend $160+ on their Chowder and a two person Crab Seafood Boil that was so bad. The Crab was so over cooked that a lot of the legs did not have any meat left in them and the legs that did were super rubbery. The potatoes were still crunchy and not cooked enough, the corn was good and the sausage was good. The chowder was okay but nothing amazing. The Margarita drink I ordered was not very good but it was something I'd never heard of so I may just not have liked it. Don't waste your money on this place. I would avoid this tourist trap at all costs. I tried to have lunch there today and the host some big girl with black hair asked me for how many and I told her I was eating alone brought me over to a table and then literally wiped the table with her hand? I was sitting there the table was dirty, filled with crumbs from the last people, and I asked the waiter if I could get the table wiped off or if I could just move to another table. The hostess comes over and says what's the problem in the nastiest tone. I told her she sent me at a dirty table and this is unacceptable. She literally said to me whatever so I got up and walked out. They will not get my money and I'm glad because two other people on the ship eat there, and they said that the food was not good at all. I got off my ship and wanted to try something different from the cruise food. There were not too many people inside and maybe 3 or 4 employees. I waited about 5 minutes to be seated which I thought was odd since the place was pretty empty as I mentioned. I looked over the menu and was anticipating steep prices however these prices exceeded my expectations. I guess they have to make up for the months they close when the cruise ships stop coming to port. My service was just ok, it was pretty slow for an unknown reason. I tried the halibut and fries and a cup of chowder. Halibut was fresh but the tartar tasted like something out of a jar, the fries were not crispy either. I wouldn't order it again. The chowder was good, not too many clams as I would have liked. Overall, it was just ok. It's a real tourist trap if you ask me. I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's probably owned by the cruise line. I enjoyed the views and if I ever come back, I'd just stick to the chowder. read more

Located right in the port, this restaurant is very convenient for cruisers. The waitresses are friendly. We had no difficulty getting a table even though a 3000 passenger ship had just docked. The food was overall a disappointment. The chowder was slightly better than average but nothing I would order again. The king crab was dry and stringy. No flavor to it at all. Costco has much better quality. The corn fritters were amazing. I had them as a side to the chowder and then took an entire order to go. I also had a great local beer. Go for a beer and fritters. Visited Sitka recently and was able to make it in. Absolutely no complaints, I had a huckleberry margarita and my husband had a locally brewed beer- both were delicious. We shared the sourdough fritters as an appetizer and debated getting a second order they were so good. I had the crab Mac and cheese and my husband had the fish and chips. The Mac and cheese was hot and had the perfect ratio of cheese/noodles/crab meat. Fish and chips were beautiful, you get a nice filet of fish that's nicely breaded rather than drowned in batter like other places. All in all it was the best meal we had in Sitka. The menu has a nice variety. Fresh caught Dungeness crab in season and king. The chowder is very good and come in cup, bowl and bread bowl.
