We had such a great lunch here. The margaritas were fabulous, as was the crab!!! Definitely recommend this place whether you are visiting by cruise or another way. The service was great and views are priceless.

The food was delicious. My hubby had the salmon burger. I had the chowder in a sourdough bread bowl with the Caesar salad. As delicious as it was, it took forever to get our food out. The bartender went to check on our food and helped to speed it along. If you go, have the huckleberry margarita. It was so good! It was a bit chilly in there. They had cold air blowing at the doors! I thought that was odd.

Fish and chips and a blonde beer

We were on our cruise, spent the day in Sitka and decided to have some fish and chips here. Are three piece fish and chips. Alaskan cod was the best I've ever had came with the side of coleslaw. The pieces were large. I highly recommend giving this place a try. I want to say the plate was about $25 but well worth it.

Nice tourist place for crab, chowder, fish and chips, and beer! Service is a little slow hence the three stars! Someone else's order was never put in and they came before us! Major strike out! Outdoor or indoor seating. Ambiance is beautiful right near the shipping docks. King crab plates are one to two pounds, $74+ with corn fritters and coleslaw. Clam is too salty for my taste.

So close you can actually read the name of our ship

Stopped to have lunch on our way back to our ship after walking around Sitka. My husband ordered the combo and I had the 1lb king crab. When they brought the plates out, I thought there was no way we would be able to finish it all. But it was so good there was no way we were leaving any! And the Sitka Mule was delish! So glad we stop!

Clam chowder and Alaskan Cod fish & chips

We were docked with the cruise ship and weren't able to grab food while exploring Sitka due to the time crunch, but man were we glad to have been able to eat here! Service was great, our waiter was so sweet and I know they were busy and our food still came out faster than expected! Loved the outdoor seating vibe and not to mention ton out food was delicious! Some of the best chowder I had on the trip. Thank you , we look forward to returning.

This is a crab-themed seafood restaurant situated right as you walk off the cruise ship. It seemed very new and clean. The server was attentive. I tried the Alaskan Brewing Company pilsner and it was awesomely crisp and refreshing. The clam chowder was good but really soared with the addition of Cholula hot sauce. Hubby got the crab roll which he said was good but not $30 good. We shared a basket of fries which were seasoned nicely. I would return for the beer and chowder alone, everything else was wildly expensive.

Right off the Cruise Pier - look to the right.

King Crab and dungeoness crab at reasonable price. Everything we tried (party of 7 from age 5 to 73) was great

Very convenient to the cruise ship dock

Due to weather we had cancelled our cruise ship shore excursion yet we wanted to at least get off the ship. HPCC is conveniently located right next to the ship's pier. We were quickly seated in a large spacious high ceilinged dining room with exposed wood beams and were warmly welcomed by our server, ADRIAN. He was very friendly (he even acknowledged my University of Miami cap!) and was very helpful describing the menu and offering crab meat extraction advice. He let me sample 2 beers before choosing a delicious locally brewed IPA. We had clam chowder in a bread bowl and 2 lbs of king crab at a market price of apx. $67.50/lb. The chowder was excellent and had just the right amount of spiceness and the crab was rich and fresh with plenty of drawn butter for dipping. With the crab came sourdough corn fritters with honey butter which were also excellent. An awesome 70's and 80's classic rock soundtrack at just the right volume was very enjoyable. The tab for food and drink before tip was $189 for two. Considering the delicious food, ambiance, quality of service and convenient ship pier location, I'd consider HPC&C a great value. I'd highly recommend dropping in if your cruise ship stops at the Port of Sitka!

Clam chowder - it's a secret recipe!
David N.

Went in for the chowder and it ended up being the best clam chowder we've ever eaten! This is a "secret family recipe" and boy, it's great! Our server was very warm and friendly, and the views were spectacular! If you have the chance to visit when in port in Sitka, don't miss out!

This a great stop for an excellent Crabby Mary and Crab Cocktail. Both were fantastic with plenty of crab.

Sitka was a port stop on our cruise and since we didn't have Alaskan King Crab in Ketchikan we said…read morewe absolutely had to get it in Sitka. Did a little research and while there weren't many restaurants who both served Alaskan King Crab and had great reviews with the exception of Burger & Crab Shack so we had to go. When we arrived there was literally a really short line so we hopped right on and ordered. We came for the Alaskan King Crab so that's what we ordered and BBBAAAAYYYYBBBBEEEEE did they deliver - OMG! The largest, juciest and most fresh Alaskan King Crab I've ever had. Nothing I've had in the past even comes close to comparing - and it was absolutely positively worth every penny. Chefs Kiss! The staff was very friendly too and made sure everyone who was dining there was happy. Highly recommend this place for Alaskan King Crabs and for pretty much everything else on the menu because we saw folks eating burgers ... MASSIVE and their fish and chips and it all looked amazing!

By the time I was able to grab lunch it was around 2:30-3, so most of the cruise ship crowds had already cleared out and it wasn't busy at all. They were unfortunately sold out of the fish and chips, which I'm sure is one of the hot commodities with all the tourists so I ended up getting a cheeseburger instead and honestly, it was SO good. I was really impressed! The burger was great and the bun was super fresh. The fries could've used a little more seasoning for me, but they were still good. Definitely recommend stopping in if you're in Sitka! Next time I'll just have to get there earlier so I can try the fish and chips!

TIKI DAVE loves Beak Restaurant!…read more After researching restaurants in Sitka, Beak, by far, seemed to be the best in town. And it was my wife's birthday, so I wanted to pick the best for a lunch in town on our cruise stop. And well, she doesn't eat seafood, so she was left to order the Vegetable Barley Soup and the Mac & Cheese so she wasn't thrilled but I've got to say, those two non-fish items were amazing. It would be nice if they offered some other non-fish items. Still, the rest of our seafood eaters loved our dishes. SON OF TIKI DAVE and I shared the Blackened Lingcod Sandwich (with tomato, spinach, horseradish aioli, served on a stadium roll with kettle chips) for $24 as well as the Halibut Roll (Cooked in Butter with Shredded Cabbage, Celery on a Hot Dog Bun and served with Kettle Chips) for $23. The boy preferred the Blackened Lingcod Sandwich and I preferred the buttery Halibut Roll. Man, that Halibut Roll was so awesome! The girl had the Smoked Salmon Plate, served with House Crostini and Cheddar Cheese for $18 and man, that salmon was amazing. We took the leftovers of this and damn it, I left it when the wife and I hit for a Moose Fart afterwards at Ernie's Old Time Saloon (great shot but $10!). Obviously, prices are a little steep...because it's Alaska and well, cruises. But Beak delivers delicious food and the ambiance in an old house is wonderful. They serve local beer as well as wine. Service is refreshingly gratuity free, which is nice. Do know that service in Alaska can vary from great to 'we'll get to you when we want'. Service at Beak was kind of in the middle but that didn't detract from our experience at all. TIKI DAVE HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDS BEAK in Sitka Alaska. Oh! And how you get here...MAKE ABSOLUTE CERTAIN you download a map of Sitka before you step off the ship, if you do come from a ship because cellular service in town really sucks. We asked a tour operator where the restaurant was because we didn't know about the terrible cell service. The location is near the foot of the bridge on the west side of town. And when in Sitka, make sure you walk east to The Sitka National Historical Park, check out the great little free museum at its entrance, and make your way to the Indian River to see the salmon and possibly bears feeding. I will be uploading a video of our experience soon! I am not a huge seafood person, so I was relieved to see they had a few non-seafood options too. We did have to wait about 30 mins outside under their "portico" to get a table. Unfortunately, the only table available was outside, and it was COLD. A few outdoor heaters would make a huge difference. I kept wondering why they didn't have any! - It is ALASKA after all... My friends all ordered the salmon chowder and said it was good, although they wished it had been hotter, especially since we were all sitting outside trying not to freeze. They also thought it could have used a little more flavor, but overall they liked it. I went with the mac and cheese, which was made with bowtie pasta. An unusual choice for mac and cheese, but it worked. It was nothing spectacular, but it was hot, cheesy and comforting, so on a chilly day, that was a big win for me. Service was fast and very friendly, which definitely helped. They also have a small but really cool gift shop, so be sure to take a look before you leave. Overall, a solid stop. I just wish they would add some heaters for those chilly outdoor tables!
