Our dinner at Maguire was amazing! Wonderful ambiance, attentive staff and the food was outstanding. We closed the place down, and were not hurried out. We chatted with the chefs following our meal to thank them. Just a delightful experience!

This place is a vibe. I really enjoyed it and the service was incredible. Food was really good and a large portion I ended up taking the majority of it back to my hotel and ate it again the next night. Definitely would come back. Thanks!

We stopped here while in port on the Crown Princess. We came is shortly after they opened and had no problem getting seated. They are located in a good place, surrounded by the shops in town, so it was a perfect stop and we were hungry. My daughter and I both ordered the Lemon Lobster Linguine, my husband ordered the Mangiare Meatballs and my youngest ordered the kids buttered pasta (perfect for the picky eaters). All the food was generous servings and good! We haven't had the chance to try a lot of places in Sitka, but this is one that we did really enjoy and would recommend if you enjoy pasta! It was chilly outside and the main door was open, so we did get hit with cold air once in a while, but handled it well. We found that some tables were in good spots to feel the heat, other's not so much. The place seemed to be well taken care of, very clean as well as the bathrooms.

The food and service were very good. Environment was noisy and friendly. We had six in our group and not a complaint to hear. The pork chop was the biggest hit. The comments were incredibly juicy with big flavor and cooked perfectly. My husband had the white salmon and it was well seasoned, cooked well and while he enjoyed every bite really wanted the pork chop. The mashed potatoes it was served in were ok, just an odd combo to me. I had the rock fish piccata. It was just the right amount of lemon and capers. Nice tangy, briny flavor. A pile of pasta which was cooked just right. The price is a little expensive kind of like everything in Sitka.

Pretty good halibut and very good salmon sandwich. The price is high, but it's in a tourist area in Alaska so it won't be cheap. Service was prompt and friendly, good place if you want a quick bite.

This was me and my family's first stop in Alaska. We were searching for them Alaskan king crab. We sat on a bench outside and saw that this place offered that so we went in. The hostess was the most unpleasant experience at this establishment. You'd imagine a hostess' job is to be a good host but nope. This girl was bouncing all over the place trying to help her peers but clearly she was in their way. So, why not just stay at the hostess stand and greet people and update people on when they'd get seated. Finally, after standing here for 5 minutes, she walked over and acknowledged us. She sat us down and said she'd bring the menus over. She was soooo ditzy and her words are meaningless. We watched her do her thing again, bounced all over the place trying to look busy when she should have kept her words and bring some menus over. Come on, this was our first Alaskan meal experience and we are hungry! So, like any survivors, we took Charles Darwin's survival of the fittest teachings and got the menus ourselves. Yup, self serve. Our waitress came and she was the sweetest person. We didn't know how much king crab we should order given the other dishes we've ordered. She was honest with her recommendation and we respect that. The food was mostly good. But the King crab was not fresh and it wasn't as big as the ones we'd get back home in Boston so that was a bit disappointing. The Yukon potatoes were soooo good! Prob the best potatoes I've ever had in my life! While we were waiting for our bill, I saw that hostess girl running around the restaurant but not doing anything, still trying to look busy. She sat another table down and said the same exact words to them - she'd bring over the menus. Then she went to did everything but that. After maybe 5 minutes, she remembered, and brought it over. -2 stars for the hostess and her lack of professionalism.

I have no complaints about my experience here. The server was attentive and friendly, service was nicely timed - even for our large-ish group - and both the appetizers and entrees we got were excellent. In regards to some of the negative reviews, I have heard from frequent patrons that the experience can be hit or miss. Everyone agreed our food and service this time was top-notch. My advice: go in expecting a nice meal but not a phenomenal one and you've got your bases covered. If it's amazing then you're impressed and if it's less-than-amazing you won't feel let down. And if you *do* have one of those less stellar experiences, don't give up on Mangiare - just give them a try another day.

Over-priced mediocre food that takes way too long to come. $38 for awful fish and chips! Go back to your ship and eat there!

The most incredible spot, we came here twice in a row and wanted to visit again for a third dinner,…read morebut they were closed for the day. Let me tell you something....... THE YUZU MISO COD!!! WOW! Easily one of the best things I've ever eaten. Cooked to actual perfection, the most delicate and soft flakes, infused with (not overly sweet) glaze. I'm like daydreaming just thinking about it. Every bite. I was floored. Even by the last few bites, I was still so impressed, it might as well have been the first. And that broccolini had phenomenal flavor/texture. Oh, and the savory butter board focaccia has ruined all other bread/butter for me. I fear I'll never be the same. On par with the food, Beak is community-driven, centering people, values, and quality, locally sourced ingredients. It was awesome to see where the main dishes were sourced from, right there on the menu (all Alaskan groups or local Sitka cooperatives!). My gosh, it makes a difference, and each bite is even more special. If you have a moment, I'd really encourage checking out their website and reading through the 'About' section. You'll fall even more head-over-heels in love with this place. Beak is the model for the future we need. Each staff member we interacted with was 10/10 stellar. They were beaming when talking about the owner/chef and how much they loved working there. Beak is gratuity-free (non-tipping), and any place that pays its staff a living wage gets extra points in my book! Any tips go to staff-selected charities/causes in the area. I'll argue with anyone: the pricing is awesome. Like.. actually take a second and think about it: - LOCAL ingredients.. that means great quality, AND you're supporting local communities (and they're *locally-run* ones too, I really can't emphasize this enough... **especially** if you're coming here as a tourist, you better be actively trying to find ways to support the community) - Gratuity-free/included in pricing!! - And, oh yeah, it's like the best bite of food I've had in my life. We don't even need to compare on relativity because Beak speaks for itself, but if you really want to go there -- live in any other coastal city, and you'll realize that it's a steal. Like it's actually bonkers. No one's doing this. I doubt anyone reads this far on a Yelp review, but even if I'm shouting into the void, it'll be in praise for Beak. Someone call the tire man, Chef Renee deserves her star!

So dang good, we came back again for lunch before heading to the airport. On the first go around,…read morewe had both White and Red King salmon, and both were exceptional. It was our first time for white king salmon for both of us. We split a massaged kale salad, and I have to say I am not the biggest fan of kale, but this "tasted like Christmas". Very enjoyable. As if that were not enough, and it normally would have been, it was also strongly suggested that we get a cup of the creamy house salmon chowder. That one was perfection. I would probably eat her once, if not twice, a week if I lived in Sitka. On the second time around, we brought a friend who also fell in love with the food and vibe. I tried the duck fat & huckleberry dessert. I love duck fat in general, so I expected it to be very good, and it was even better than that. I believe it was a version of Akutaq. They also served the version with vegetable fat. I deeply enjoyed mine. I will definitely come back here should I make it back to Sitka again.
