The proprietor is filled with storytelling, and the eclectic photographs on the walls are his muse. The food? Well, don't go there for something healthy!

Great food! You can only order what he just caught. Delicious and as fresh as you can get. This is the real deal if you're looking for an authentic local place to eat. be warned there are only 4 seats but even if you have to stand the food is worth it. The owner is extremely friendly, outgoing, and very interesting. He could talk your ear off about local history for hours if you have time. Will definitely go again.

I'm not going to lie, I was a little nervous when I saw the place but I am SO glad we walked in. The reviews are accurate! The owner is very friendly and will tell you stories about the history of Sitka, while your very fresh fish cooks. There is no menu. You eat what he just caught. $20 per person. It's only fish, nothing else. And it is absolutely delicious. It comes in a paper bag and a ziplock of tartar sauce. Walk down to Ernie's Saloon (they allow you to bring in food) and pair it with a local beer. It's a perfect lunch!

A once in a lifetime experience. Not a five star restaurant at all but would most certainly go back again. The food alone makes it worthwhile. No menu, just whatever he caught that morning is what you get. We had yellow eye and halibut. And samples of cod. There are no sides, just fish on a kebab stick. No plates, no utensils. There are a total of five chairs in the place, and one very knowledgeable fisherman that gave is a history lesson of Sitka.

The kind of place that brings the "soul" to your trip in Alaska. I found this place on TikTok and ran my mom to come try it before our cruise left. Fish was amazing, we had the lingcod. So fresh. We were talking to local lady next to us and she was just telling us about this place and Scotty. This place is a gem if you're looking for a local, authentic place. It's $20 per skewer and cash only. Scotty told us that he pays for this parking spot space but he hopes to get this place going and have a full restaurant like bubba gump. It's well worth walking here and make sure you have time because it's only him working and you will want to hear his stories!

    Fresh fried fish

We stopped in while on our Cruise and it was amazing! It's a little place with one table. It was $20 for a couple sticks of whatever kind of fish he has. Scotty is super cool and gave us a history rundown of the place! I'll definitely be back one day!

Awesome little find in the back street of Sitka. Fish on a stick is the best I ever had. The location screams all of Sitka. It's more a museum with food service! Come keep Sea Daddy kicking, they are fighting the good fight.

This place was the most amusing and most delicious meal we had in Sitka. You'll look at it from the outside and either laugh or think I'm crazy, both are fair. The owner is a treat and he'll offer you to take his canoe out while ya wait. The fish was the most tender I've ever had; incredible. He provided cups of water while we waited, but didn't have any sides - I'm not sure about other drinks. 6oz of fish for $20 is one of the better "deals" in AK. There's one table for 4 "inside" so maybe take it to go.

    Halibut fish stick

Saw this place on Tik Tok and thought we'd give it a try. It's a bit off the beaten path but totally worth the walk! The establishment has a unique vibe. The owner was very friendly and cooked the fish fresh to order. He only serves fish on a stick but he's doing something right because it was amazing. My husband said it was the best fish he ever had. Both the halibut and cod were bartered in a light coating but it was crispy and oh so fresh. We will definitely be back next time we're in Sitka! $20 a stick, bring cash!

    Dining area

10/10. Guy was a character. Very knowledgeable on the local history. Felt like I was in a Time Machine and a Movie at the same time with the atmosphere of the place. Quite unique, I will never forget this place.

The most incredible spot, we came here twice in a row and wanted to visit again for a third dinner,…read morebut they were closed for the day. Let me tell you something....... THE YUZU MISO COD!!! WOW! Easily one of the best things I've ever eaten. Cooked to actual perfection, the most delicate and soft flakes, infused with (not overly sweet) glaze. I'm like daydreaming just thinking about it. Every bite. I was floored. Even by the last few bites, I was still so impressed, it might as well have been the first. And that broccolini had phenomenal flavor/texture. Oh, and the savory butter board focaccia has ruined all other bread/butter for me. I fear I'll never be the same. On par with the food, Beak is community-driven, centering people, values, and quality, locally sourced ingredients. It was awesome to see where the main dishes were sourced from, right there on the menu (all Alaskan groups or local Sitka cooperatives!). My gosh, it makes a difference, and each bite is even more special. If you have a moment, I'd really encourage checking out their website and reading through the 'About' section. You'll fall even more head-over-heels in love with this place. Beak is the model for the future we need. Each staff member we interacted with was 10/10 stellar. They were beaming when talking about the owner/chef and how much they loved working there. Beak is gratuity-free (non-tipping), and any place that pays its staff a living wage gets extra points in my book! Any tips go to staff-selected charities/causes in the area. I'll argue with anyone: the pricing is awesome. Like.. actually take a second and think about it: - LOCAL ingredients.. that means great quality, AND you're supporting local communities (and they're *locally-run* ones too, I really can't emphasize this enough... **especially** if you're coming here as a tourist, you better be actively trying to find ways to support the community) - Gratuity-free/included in pricing!! - And, oh yeah, it's like the best bite of food I've had in my life. We don't even need to compare on relativity because Beak speaks for itself, but if you really want to go there -- live in any other coastal city, and you'll realize that it's a steal. Like it's actually bonkers. No one's doing this. I doubt anyone reads this far on a Yelp review, but even if I'm shouting into the void, it'll be in praise for Beak. Someone call the tire man, Chef Renee deserves her star!

So dang good, we came back again for lunch before heading to the airport. On the first go around,…read morewe had both White and Red King salmon, and both were exceptional. It was our first time for white king salmon for both of us. We split a massaged kale salad, and I have to say I am not the biggest fan of kale, but this "tasted like Christmas". Very enjoyable. As if that were not enough, and it normally would have been, it was also strongly suggested that we get a cup of the creamy house salmon chowder. That one was perfection. I would probably eat her once, if not twice, a week if I lived in Sitka. On the second time around, we brought a friend who also fell in love with the food and vibe. I tried the duck fat & huckleberry dessert. I love duck fat in general, so I expected it to be very good, and it was even better than that. I believe it was a version of Akutaq. They also served the version with vegetable fat. I deeply enjoyed mine. I will definitely come back here should I make it back to Sitka again.
