We were anxious to try the Notch pub on the way back from mirror lake. After day of hiking and exploring, the thought of an ice cold beer and some good pub grub was very attractive. Unfortunately, our experiences was pretty poor. The waitress we had seemed uninterested and frankly distracted by the Sunday NFL package rather than providing any level of service that we would deem acceptable. We weren't expecting much based on the appearance of the place but there's no excuse for crappy service. I'm glad others have enjoyed their time at the Notch pub but in retrospect we should've continued on our way back toward Park city. read more

We've seen this place every time we drive into the mountains to go hiking and so decided to try it. If there is nowhere else to go, go there. Otherwise, save the calories. Not a great roadside bar with typical pub food - burgers, nachos, sandwiches, beer, cocktails. A bison burger for $21.00? A hamburger for $19.00? After giving this place a break for a year, we went back... the food was very good! I got the blue burger and fries, it's was great! Where I live, The Notch is as close to a local bar as you can get so I'm stoked there's a place to get a great burger and catch up with friends. The service is still bad. The bartender was too busy talking to his friends to bother refilling our drinks. We had to ask to get anything, drinks, menus, food... it might as well be self service. read more

Now that we've had our shots we went to the notch tonight for dinner and found it quite pleasant, great service and really good food. If you love a cabin in the woods with a real wood burning stove, a cold beer and a big juicy burger with smoky chicken wings, this is the place. I can't stop thinking about the wings! My husband and I felt like regulars by the time we finished our meal, the chef and the bartender were very friendly and included the patrons in their team spirit, football rivalry, while we watched every game being played on Sunday on multiple big screens. Let's bring it up a notch or two! I've been here twice, both times had the cheeseburger, which was mediocre at best. I don't understand why the cook can't add some salt, onion powder, garlic powder... Something to give it a little bit extra flavor. Cheap ground beef also is easy to tell by the lack of flavor and texture. $15 bucks? Come on you guys can do better. A few small changes and you guys could have the best burger in the area. Notch-sure what all the hype is about. I looked up the web site before we went. The menu that was posted listed burgers for $9. When we got there, however, the burger was actually $12. Make no mistake, this is a bar... that happens to serve food ("Pub" usually means something a little more family friendly to me). The bartender was friendly and helpful but they had loud, raucous, metalhead music blasting in the middle of the day. We tried to sit outside on the patio but the drunk-before-noon crowd dominated the atmosphere. We would have left and gone elsewhere, but we had already been to a few other places in the area. They were also fairly pricey and the one that wasn't (the local drug store, which had won awards for their burgers) had quite a wait to get in... you'd think the pricey dives would catch a clue. When our burgers came, they really weren't worthy of all the stars here on Yelp. They were pretty big burgers but they had that gray, not cooked much look. The grilled onions were more like grilled onion skins... tough and inedible. All-in-all we were pretty disappointed given all the hype. read more

We were there Saturday night, We were asked to pay a 5.00 Buck cover charge for the band. We said no thanks, they let us in with out paying the cover charge, that was really cool. I had the Black Bean veggie burger with fries. It was good and the fries were ok. I had a couple pictures of PBR,s, They brought them out full right to the brim and Ice cold and fresh. $10.00 bucks per picture of all there domestic beers is a great price. They served there Coke like a lot of Bars do, Watered down way to much to enjoy for a non drinker. The band was Accomplice and first night playing there. We thought they were really good but they were way to loud to enjoy. The best part of the visit was how cool the building is. Its very rustic and just a fun place to hang out and visit with others. I could be persuaded to add a star if they were to replace the frozen fries with real hand cut fries. For the price they should not sere frozen fries. read more

This is a no frills pub food is good. Keep in mind it is Bar Food not fine dining or cuisine. The reason for a full 5 out of 5 because its not Park City...... good tavern feel...I had a veggie burger the husband had a chicken sandwich both came on-top a pile of the largest pile of fries I have ever seen. We are going back for the live music this weekend a local firefighter that sings Johnny Cash music.....now you are getting closer to the reasons for the five out of the five stars. This watering hole is a great example of small town style and flair. All of the patrons are regulars or people passing through on the way to the Wasatch state park, so you'll always find a friendly face or a good conversation. Mad kudos to Dave for setting up such a delicious menu and serving great beer! Stacy was the best bartender I have encountered along my travels. If you hate food and beer, then look no further, this is the pub for you! Located conveniently as the only pub near camping in the Uinta mountains, if you sit down at this restaurant, the waitress will successfully avoid making eye contact with you. Are you assertive? Don't worry! She is a skilled non-communicator and will slyly brush your questions away. On a budget? Perfect! You will spend zero money here, since the pool game you play while waiting for ANY acknowledgement from the staff is 100% FREE! Seriously, you guys. This place has it all! A nice, quiet patio where you won't have to deal with an annoying waitress asking you what you want to order or making sure you know she knows you're there, free pool, water that you have to get yourself (so convenient since you could relive your Oregon Trail days and die of dehydration if you had to wait for someone to bring it to you). If you love a nice, cool building to sit and drink warm water, don't hesitate to stop here. However, if you enjoy tasty food for a reasonable price and prompt service, check out Uinta Drive In, just down the road. Not open as late, but they served us even though we walked in at closing time. Sigh.....I know the Notch was fairly recently sold. New owners. Would say it's living up to its Namesake but no way! If your gonna be a bar, be a bar. Can't get a drink or a plate of food. If ya do manage to get a drink or food in a semi timely fashion, totally not worth the wait. Supposed to be "Park City quality" with new owners but there is definitely a struggle to provide drinks and food. Really need to find the balance here. Loved this little spot just outside Kamas. I had my pup in tow with me so it was nice to find a place with a dog friendly patio (walk around the back for patio access). Food was solid, beer was cold, and the server Alicia was managing to hustle like no other while in a boot! Not to mention she was incredibly nice and hilarious. Really bad food, really poor service, and EXPENSIVE for no good reason: probably about double the price of what everything on the menu should be. Place was nearly empty when we walked in, and we were the only ones there that appeared to be ordering any food. Nonetheless, it took about 45 minutes to get an appetizer ($7 plate of cheese fries, which consisted of some soggy frozen fries with a small amount of cheese melted over them), and probably an hour to get four simple lunch orders: 2 burgers ($12 each), a small bowl of soup ($7!), and chicken wings ($1.30 each, $7.80 for six wings). None of the food was very good at all. Pretty much tasteless. Waitress never returned to the table at any point to take drink orders, nor to deliver the bill. Had to get up from the table and head to the bar to find someone to print out the bill so we could (finally) leave. Won't be back again. It's too bad, too. Because this place is conveniently situated to offer tasty and timely fare for people coming out of the Uintas. But I wouldn't bother, if I were you. read more

After a long motorcycle ride we were looking forward to a comfortable environment to sit down in and we were famished. We sat ourselves and waited 10 minutes for the waitress to take our order. We ordered Nachos for an appetizer and got the standard costco strips with a very unnatural salsa (poblano). It was bland and barely edible but we were hungry enough that we ate it all. Right down to the last chip. Upon taking the final bite we noticed a hair in the salsa. It looked like a white animal hair. We told the friendly waitress about the situation and she said "That happens all the time. Would you like more?" Feeling a little sickened but still starving, we ordered our entrees, our companion wasn't feeling like he wanted to tackle the hamburger so we opted to share the "Oh my cod"($14), and a caesar salad( $12), along with the hamburger for my husband ($12). When our food came we split the salad and after 3 bites I noticed a hair in it. I let the waitress know of the situation and she said, "Well you're not going to pay for that." A few minutes later the owner came to our table and pointed out that his cook was wearing a hairnet, (I saw someone from the back not sure who he was, but no hairnet) and it did not come from their end. He proceeded to pick up the 4 inch long hair (Mine is below shoulder length) and hold it up for inspection. He then told me that it was a clean hair, and it must just have been a hair flying around in the air. He made no offer to remake the salad, and strode away with it like we were a bunch of idiots. Feeling confident that I wasn't paying for the offensive salad, I ate a piece of the fish (greasy but well seasoned) and a few standard frozen krinkle cut fries. Since I had no food to eat (Thanks companion for eating all the fish we were "sharing") (Thanks Mr. important douchebag owner for taking the hairy salad and being oblivious to the fact that it would cost you almost nothing to just remake the salad and remedy the WHOLE situation) I sipped on my water and noticed yet another hair stuck to the bottom of my glass. Could this really be a ventilation system or cleaning service problem? To be fair, my husband said he did like his burger, but could have gotten 3 for the same price at Carl's Jr, and been just as happy. We waited for quite a while for our check. They were not even busy. Upon seeing that we were charged for the salad, I approached our waitress and pointed out the "oversight". She stated that the owner told her to charge us because he came and talked to us about the salad. I asked to speak with him but he was conveniently gone and they had closed the door on the kitchen help/cooking area. I left upset and hungry. The only thing that made me feel better was giving the whole establishment my middle finger on the way down the canyon. Not going back. EVER. Not recommending this place. EVER. Nothing at all appealing about this overpriced dive. Save your money and visit a pet shelter. read more

Once again, just not a great place. I've tried. I wish it were better. It's close to home - within walking distance if need be. I've gone to the Notch and there were five, maybe six other people in the bar, and literally could not get a drink... LITERALLY. My wife and I stopped by, finally got tired of getting ignored, and left - without a drink. This isn't one of those times where you're reading some dude just bitching because he was drunk and couldn't get another drink at a different bar. Oh, no! This drink would have been the first of the night. Since that super experience, my wife and I have been back three or four times - with varying degrees of meh experiences. Tonight we were able to get a drink. The bartender was polite. It's just not that comfortable. Between the loud mouth group of guys dropping the F-bomb like it was a recently learned word, or the only word they knew, and a couple of them making what sounded like bird calls, it wasn't a great place to hang out. You guys were way too old to act that way, by-the-way. This seems to be what one should expect when going to the Notch. If it's your thing, have a great time. read more

Friend had the fish and chips... apparently far superior to those served at the Uinta Drive-In down the road a bit. The message at The Notch is clear: "you're not welcome and we don't give a sh*t." The customer service is a joke even after the change in ownership. I wouldn't bother wasting your time and money there. Expect to be ignored when you're ready to order if you don't personally know the staff outside of the bar. They are more interested in doing side work and getting out of there than giving good service where they can make money, which is why I assumed they were there. I recommend drinking at home, at least you know you'll get served there. read more
