I recently moved to Indy and decided to try The Naked Monkey for my waxing needs. Their services are exceptional! They did my brows, lower back, and nostrils, providing a truly unique waxing experience. I loved how professional and thorough they were. However, I had a disappointing experience with their appointment policy. Today, I got stuck at work and missed my appointment. When I called to see if they could reschedule me for later in the day, they said they couldn't and would be charging me the full amount ($60) for the missed appointment. Their brochure and website state: "no shows and cancellations MAY result in a missed appointment fee" rather than "...WILL result in a missed appointment fee" which makes how much they said they were going to charge me rather random. While I understand the need for policies, some flexibility and willingness to work with customers would have been greatly appreciated. Sadly, due to this experience, I probably won't be returning. It's a shame because their services are fantastic. read more

Absolutely love this place! The staff is always so welcoming and friendly, and they are very discreet with the service you book. The space is clean and you can tell the staff takes pride in their workspace. I've never had to wait for an appointment and most generally can get in a few minutes before my appointment! I've been going here for years for Brazilians and eyebrows, and no matter who I've seen they've always been kind, professional, and done an excellent job. I decided to write a review today for 2 reasons: 1. I saw Lauren for the first time and she was wonderful. Not only did she squeeze me in for eyebrows after my bikini wax (didn't book that service) she gave me great advice re: eyebrow products to help them grow, help shape them, and even applied some color on after and they looked great. We talked fashion, body image stuff, etc and my wax session went by super fast - barely noticed it! 2. The young front desk lady (hadn't met her before) offered me a star sticker saying "do you want a sticker since you're out of this world?" explaining that kids get stickers for going to the dentist and I just went through much worse. I've gone to various ladies within the downtown Naked Monkey for eyebrow waxing. Every time I've requested my brows to be left relatively full. Most of the time there is no issue, but the most recent lady I went to decimated my eyebrows. They haven't been this thin since high school. Considering there aren't many decent waxing places in Indy, if you find a waxer here you like, stick with them!!! Don't play roulette like I did. read more

I typically do not ever leave any review that's negative. However, I literally just called to try to make an appointment. I just moved to town. The person who answered the phone was rather rude in not being too accommodating about giving my card number over the telephone. I don't think that's a thing a lot of people would be necessarily comfortable with. When I asked if there was an online form to be able to do that, she told me no and that the only thing that I could do is email them my card information (which is still not secure) or try to stop in before 4 PM to secure my spot and to give my card. Then she said "other than that there's nothing else I can do". I understand policy, but there are secure forums that businesses can use for people to put their card information in versus giving them over the phone to a stranger. I really wanted to support a small business versus going to something else like a European wax center. I was actually looking forward to it because the reviews are so positive however customer service is number one and making customers feel welcomed, in particularly a new customer to a business. I'm pretty seasoned with different wax specialists, and I've tried a number of different salons and even done the at-home attempt (LOL pls don't). I've been going back to see my girl, Audra for the last three (holy wow??) years. She's great and she throws some tips out to maintain that smooth skin we're all here for. The downtown location is my favorite, there's tons of street parking, AND they have their own private lot (which means free parking). I'm a big, big fan. If you have questions on the receiving end of waxing services, definitely ask. It can be scary at first, but honestly, it's a great way to treat yourself and stay groomed (however you choose to). read more

I had booked a wax appt for Wed 7/27/2022 at 10:30AM. On the morning of I received a text message saying. "We just received word that the Naked Monkey building downtown has no power. Unfortunately, we will need to reschedule your 10:30 appt. We will call you as soon as we are back up to get you rescheduled." I understand that such things are out of our control, however, I have yet to receive a call about rescheduling. As a potential first time client this does not make a great impression. I had an appointment with Ashley for a wax at the downtown location. She was quick, very comforting, and made the experience easy. Upon leaving I immediately booked another appointment with her because I'm not sure I can go anywhere else! I even got some tips and merch to help with skin care between waxes. I come here every few weeks and the staff is always friendly. Some of the ladies are more experienced in waxing than others and it shows. I've never had a bad experience here when it comes to overall satisfaction. Naked monkey is definitely on the pricier side when it comes to waxing. So if you're trying to find the best bargain for your buck, maybe try some place else. They're pretty quick and will get you in and out in a matter of minutes (which is great). I've never had to wait for my appointment! The staff, as I mentioned previously, is very nice and I always small talk with the lady waxing me. They also sell ambre oils! I had never gotten a wax done before and wanted to get one before I went on vacation. I'd heard of The Naked Monkey and been there once at a previous Yelp Elite event but had not had a waxing so I decided to book and I'm so glad I did! When you're looking for services, prices are important of course but more important in something like getting waxed is experience. You don't want someone who does one or two a week and then provides other services the rest of the time. At TNM, their technicians wax all day every day so you know you're getting an experienced, professional provider. The interior and rooms were all spotless! Rooms very clean and clutter free, the environment is warm and calming. My technician Audra was very nice, she explained all the different kinds of waxes to me and why they would use one wax over another, as well as all the details of care afterwards and what to expect. As for pain, I mean, it's getting waxed. But it truly did not hurt nearly as bad as I expected, and at one point I just closed my eyes and actually relaxed! I love this place. Fed up with other estheticians constantly over waxing and thinning out my eyebrows, I decided to try The Naked Monkey. My first visit was with Brittany. My experience was a bit less painful and less stinging than my previous brow waxes at other wax shops. I attribute this to the wax that was used. Brittany listened to me about what I wanted to achieve with my brows as I am trying to grow them out a bit. In the end, I was extremely satisfied. I have been getting my eyebrows here for about 6 months. I have had several different people do my eyebrows and they have all done a phenomenal job. I walk out feeling fabulous! The front desk staff is very nice and accommodating. The inside of the Naked Monkey is so cute. There are comfortable chairs to sit in while you wait and they have lots of magazines to choose from. Naked Monkey also sells some some beauty care products, like bath bombs and lotions! The dearth of waxing places downtown has always astounded me: naked monkey fixed that. Locally owned (bonus!) and very cute and clean, this establishment has lots of staff so it is really easy book and get in in a timely manner. I'll spare you what I had done but it was super fast, I was out in a jiff. Pricing is on par with most places but they are always offering specials and bogo type incentives. I have not had waxing done anywhere else and had came here for a Yelp event prior. When I saw I could get my armpits waxed for $25 I thought that was a reasonable price so I booked it. It was painless. I didn't think my other waxing services I got were bad either. I went ahead and booked again. I thought the rooms were nice, clean and relaxing. With the eyebrows, she was quick enough that it didn't hurt hardly at all, and she went back and took the time to really clean up the eyebrows, which i was not expecting. I don't normally get my eyebrows waxed, i prefer threading, but I think after this experience at Naked Monkey I will definitely be back for a facial and eyebrow wax. Did you know they do more than wax things here!! Today I got the Flash Exfoliation facial. 20 min skin cleaning/exfoliation for $25. My skin feels great. Theresa has been my esthetician for many years and I highly recommend her for your waxing and skin care needs. The downtown location is in the same building as before but now has a bigger space. Having been a loyal Monkey for 2 years, I needed to express in words how grateful I am for their services. I had been getting my underarm waxed regularly before moving to Indy. After doing some research, and trying out a few places, the Naked Monkey won my heart! I felt that the value of pricing, comfort, and knowledge of the estheticians matched perfectly with what I was looking for. I live and work in downtown Indy and the location for me couldn't be better! Plus the name alone was quirky and fun...I had to give it a try! So happy that I did!! Elizza has been my esthetician from day 1. She is always so happy and cheerful and works efficiently to remove even the most stubborn of hairs. A few times I've needed to have a quick brow or lip wax in addition to my underarm. The ladies at the downtown location have always been able to accommodate these last minute requests which I greatly appreciate. Being within walking distance of my office makes it easy to have an appointment over the lunch hour. I recommend purchasing an exfoliating mitt or small hand exfoliator here. Previously, I have purchased an exfoliating sponge at Ulta, but toss them after so many uses. The particular brand that The Naked Monkey carries is durable, antimicrobial, and recyclable! Bonus for being a green product! It's a small investment, around $12 for the hand exfoliator and $36 for the larger mitt, but they last for years. That's right. Years. I called on a late Saturday morning to see if they could fit me in for an eyebrow wax and was happy to hear that they could just an hour later! I walked because I live on the canal. The girl who did my eyebrows was awesome and gave them all of the extra attention they needed. The only con is that the room is really cramped, and I think no matter how great the service is, $20 is a lot for an eyebrow wax. That being said, if I ever need an emergency eyebrow wax again, I'm sure I will be calling The Naked Monkey. read more

I have been to this place for Brazilian waxing regularly around a year, and I never had such an unpleasant experience as today. I do think it depends on who give you the service. Mine was with Lauren today, and I feel like she was trying to do it in a rush or she wasn't in a good mood, and it was the most painful experience I ever have. Even though my hair grows a little bit longer this time, but i never have this type of unpleasant feeling even during the first Brazilian waxing with Naked Monkey. All other ladies I had before gave me the feeling that they actually care about their customers and they will only use sanitized or onetime used wipes to wipe out any sensitive area, but this lady today even used the towel to crudely wipe out my sensitive area that just got waxed (I usually just used the towel to do some body coverage, not sure if it's clean enough to wipe the sensitive spot). I am not trying to target anyone because of personal reasons, but today I do feel like somehow being treated like an animal, and I think for $65 per visit, we deserve a little bit better service or attitudes. I hope internally, the company should emphasize that during the training. read more

I love the location nice and clean. But after three visits I will not return after the last visit. I left very sore and woke up in the morning to scabs all over my lady business not comfortable, then a few days later I was lucky to experience for the first time in my 47 years at least 30 in grown hairs! Lovely! So I was wanting this to pass soon. Didn't happen. So I decided to call the Naked Monkey and see what I should do. Well after their non-concerned attitude I decided to cancel my next appointment . After expressing I now look as if I have an std they didn't seem to care. The downtown location is a fairly new addition to the business but it is the only one I have been to. The set up is clean and spacious. The staff up front are quick and pleasant.
