This used to be my go to nail spot but the last two times it hasn't been great. My toe nails don't look like a professional did them. I asked him to gix them (nicely) after he messed up several toes putting my shoes on, and this is the final result. Also, I bought a jelly pedicure and he didn't let my feet soak in it. The whole point of the jelly is to help remove the calluses. He got to work on my feet instantly. Way overpriced for what I got. If you do go, consider bringing your own polish (if they allow it). This place is nice but extremely over priced. I walked in around noon, the place was pretty empty. I asked for a pedicure and acrylic nail removal. I went with the 6 step pedicure which was $60. The 6 step pedicure was very nice the lady did a great job. My nails were soaking the entire time I was receiving my pedicure and when she was finished, she removed the acrylic and asked did I want and manicure and I agreed. I didn't want a polish so she did a buff and shine. This turned out decent. The total for my services was $135!!!!! Totally a rip off. The nail removal should have been no more than $10 and a manicure was listed at $25 so I have no idea how my total came out to be $135 but BEWARE if you visit this salon and be sure to ask what the total cost is going to be before you receive your services!!! read more

My likes: The ambiance. I was greeted nicely and in a timely manner. There's lots of trendy colors to choose from. Nice pedicure chairs. Dislikes: Price, Price, Price! I've been to just about every major city and this place charges more than any other major city I've ever been to. On top of that some of the stuff these nails salons are charging extra for are getting a little out of hand. I got SNS done and while I am not disappointed, I've had really good SNS and really bad SNS done and this just falls on the ok it's good enough side for me. They used a gel top coat which in my opinion isn't needed if SNS is done right. To me it's like a little insurance policy they they are using by putting the gel top coat on top of the SNS. My pedicure was good. Quick. She was already into my pedicure when she asked me what kind I wanted so I decided to get the basic one because really there wasn't much left to do at that point. No sense in adding more to my price. I honestly would save my money and get my nails done elsewhere. There was nothing extravagant done in my opinion to match the price I paid overall for my service. For that price I need my nail tech to skip, hop, and dance and make me laugh because whew.... I just don't see why they charge so much. There are many pedicures to choose from and they have a very large area, so this is a great place to go with a friend and chat with your friend while getting your stuff done There is even a bar here which is pretty freaking cool, drinks are reasonably priced just like a normal bar. My pedicure was called the Jelly; I think it was something to do with the powder/softener for the water. Overall it just seems like a pretty straightforward pedicure- nice exfoliation and leg massage, trimming, good polish application. Was happy with my value for money using the groupon. The space is great. Really ample number of chairs, including what looked like a private room for parties. Kid area had little pedicure chairs and other toys. Full bar though it was early so I didn't partake. So I decided to get my nails done after about a year of just holding off until I found the right place. Found The NailStop on Yelp and I was thoroughly impressed. This place is massive and very modern! The open layout is so cute. They have a bar and drink menus to top it all off. Long, one of the nail associates, was outstanding! He was very understanding and took the time to get my nails just like how I imagined. I was very hesitant on getting a man to do my nails (since ladies have always done mine) but I was very wrong and judgmental. He did such an amazing job! I will always be asking for him when I come back. I got the acrylics with the gel polish and it was about $50. My partner had gotten the jasmine pedicure and he was also very impressed! I have heard of Groupon customers being treated differently, but I have never experienced it until today. I came in with 3 other family members for a girls day at the spa. Only 2 of us had Groupons yet all 4 were treated horribly. We were charged for add on services that were not published on their menu or website. In addition to being nickeled & dimed, the quality of the services received were substandard. Compared to others around us, massages were shorter, steps were skipped, and less product used. My technician was an older lady so she seemed experienced. She was incredibly sloppy. She rushed through my service, only put one coat of nail polish on my toenails, and was not careful at all when applying the polish - she had to go back and fix many imperfections. She barely cleaned my nails before applying polish, too. To add insult to injury, she kept chitchatting and stopping my service and laughing out loud with the other technicians while doing my nails! On my first (and last) visit to this nail shop I was shocked when the lady assigned to me asked me if I wanted to keep my same nail shape, and when I said yes, she said, "that shape is coffin, and it will be an extra $10 for the coffin shape". Unbelievable! I never heard anything like that in my life. First of all, they were already in the coffin shape when I walked in. She said every shop is the same. Not true! After 30 years of getting my nails done in California and visiting five different shops in North Carolina, I have never ever had anyone say that there was a charge to shape the nails in any shape, let alone the shape they are already in. Although my feet were in the water for my pedicure, I was ready to walk out. So she talked to the manager, who said she would not charge this time. Appalling! I stayed, and at the end I learned that although I did't have to pay the $10, it will be taken out of the lady's pay who did my nails. I will never return there again for anything. There are far too many nail shops around, and too much competition to treat customers in this manner. It's no wonder that no more than three customers came in during the two hours that I was there. I will never go back. That's not the way to get return business or referral businee. But maybe they are not interested in either. read more

Incredibly poor customer service. Reserved an appointment days in advance to see a specific tech. Upon arrival I was set at someone else's table; when I inquired as to why I was set with someone else, I was informed my tech was out for the day. Nobody bothered to mention this and save me the trip out. I opted to follow through with the appointment and was not satisfied with the results. The cashier outright refused to do anything to compensate for my dissatisfaction repeating several times that he could look into the scheduling to see who booked the appointment rather than assuring my satisfaction immediately and taking accountability for failing to notify me prior to my appointment. 2 hours and $208 later, you be the judge.... Last but not least, the salon frequently smells of seafood seemingly based on employees preparing their lunches. read more

This place is adorable! Big and airy with lots of windows, cute decor and waiting areas. They have a big staff so we didn't have to wait even without an appointment. My regular manicure cost $17 which I thought was a good price. My friend and I both enjoyed our experience, and she said she gets coupons for them in the mail often so keep an eye out for those. It looks like they have a private room for parties, this would be a fun place for a bridal shower or birthday. read more

This place is beautiful! I feel like I stepped into a hone decor studio with glitzy light fixtures, Eiffel Tower icons , a classy bar with colorful bottles, and an array of posh furniture. The pedicure chairs are deluxe and there is even a separate room for group parties. The far end of the salon had little princess pedicure chairs for the little ones. The design is very tasteful and you can't miss the location on 751 across from Hope Valley Commons. I got a spa pedicure with sea salt scrub and it was heavenly. The lady that did my pedicure was very attentive and did an excellent job. As soon as you sit down, you are offered a cocktail from the bar. They offer wine , beer and cocktails. There are televisions within view or you can just tune it all out in the relaxing pedigree chairs. I am definitely coming back here for my next pedicure. read more

I am new to the area, and decided to check this salon out based on reviews. I made sure to get there right when they opened, and I'm glad I did. Walking in is immediately overwhelming - this is the biggest nail salon I've ever been in. It's beautiful. They pointed me to the polishes for my pedicure. I picked one and went to the chair. The pedicure was wonderful. I did the pomegranate one. Massage was nice, and the heated neck wrap was possibly my favorite part about the salon. The lady helping me was very sweet. She did my nails as well. My nails are very thin and crappy. So I expected the bit of cleaning up that I'll still need to do when I get home. But what is great is that she asked me what colors I wanted and then grabbed a few for me to look at - I get really overwhelmed with the swatches. So why only 4 stars? Well, an inspection lady came in and it seemed to really distract my lady. She was still very sweet, but distracted. All in all, I would definitely like to come back. I used to be in love with this place when it was under old management. The place is very unkempt. Some of the staff members are very rude and some didnt make an effort to communicate. As far as my nails? very disappointed with the results. $98 for what? I asked for a Pineapple pedicure and a fill in . The water in the tub was cold and the lady working on me rushed the entire thing. She yanked at my legs and was all of her feelings on her face. My finger nails were the worst part. I asked for a simple gel fill in with gel polish. (Never an issue under prior management). The nail tech kept sighing hard and rubbing her head like I was bothering her. After taking almost 2 hours for a fill in, the results are not at all what i wanted them to be. I asked if she would reshape and file my nails (already coffin shaped and needed a little clean up) and she said she would for an extra $10. She did the bare minimum and all of my nails look different and have some deformations. Will not be returning. Would not recommend. The lady that helped did not give me what I wanted after I told her repeatedly what I wanted. My nails look like they're 2 weeks old, that's how much of a gap she left around the acrylic and my cuticles. They're bulking and horribly shaped. So not worth $55!!! They don't do a bad job by any means, but the customer service is kinda.. non existent. My nails always look okay when I leave but each time I go (I'm on probably my sixth or seventh visit at this point) I feel like the employees are almost annoyed that they have to do anything relating to work at all. I usually get the super basic pedicure and either a full acrylic set or fill in depending on what's needed that day, I've noticed on different occasions that I picked out more than one color a couple different times the nail tech seemed less than happy that this wasn't some quick in and out deal which seemed odd to me considering they do have a bar area and offer beverages. What an amazing experience I received this morning. I literally stumbling upon this salon because I took the wrong turn trying to go to Ruby Nails. I was welcomed with a tour and a hot mug of coffee. Taken to my massage seat and waited for about two minutes (AMAZING) and the nail technician (Amy) came. I have scars on my legs and pitted nails from my eczema and I get easily ashamed if I have a feeling that my technician is secretly talking about my legs to their coworker. But OH MY GOODNESS, Amy made me feel so comfortable about condition. Not only was the service anything but amazing, but my nails don't look like I have the pitted eczema symptoms. I am amending my previous review to clarify a few things. 1. The facility is great. It's clean, nicely decorated (not over the top like some salons) and large to accommodate many people. They have a bar which is a nice amenity. My previous statement about a membership, was not meant to be a bad one. Many bars in Durham have a membership (just a legality). This was stated simply for information purposes, not a dig. Second, the lounge chairs. I was not saying these chairs are uncomfortable, just different than what I've experienced at other nail salons. It just struck me as odd, not in a bad or good way. People seem to enjoy them. I was just stating an observation. They were comfortable. 2. I don't know if my technician was just in a hurry that day, but the nail job was mediocre my first visit. I did feel like she was rushed. However, she was polite and tried to make small talk which is always nice when visiting a new place. 3. My first gel polish only lasted three days before chipping which was not acceptable. Upon writing my first review, the salon reached out and said they would fix my nails. I went today and had a different technician, although it was obvious they were not pleased with me. The other woman from my first visit came to apologize, which I appreciate. The nails looks great and I hope they last. I am wondering if it was the polish that just didn't cling to my nail the first time. Who knows? I did stick with the OPI this time around. Overall, while my first experience was not the best, I always like to give places the benefit of the doubt. As of now, my nails look great and again, the salon is extremely well kept, convenient and close. I'd like to continue to be a customer. I can here upon the recommendation of two of my friends who rave about it with regard to customer service and they have drinks as opposed to the regular soda, water and wine served at many salons. I asked for a gel manicure. Looking at the services on my phone while she was doing my manicure it said $35 for a spa manicure. I don't know what spa this was supposed to resemble but it fell completely short. After removing my gel polish she put y hands in lukewarm water with no soap, oils nothing. No cuticle cream was applied to my cuticles prior to cutting them nor was I asked if I wanted them cut. After the polish was applied and dried she put a little oil on my hands rubbed it in and THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A SPA MANICURE. I was never asked if I wanted so much as water and the cost $40!!! The spa manicure is listed as $35 however I was charged an additional $5 to remove the polish. In my opinion this was a complete waste of $40 and I will stick with the salon I generally go To in Wake Forest. I get way more (in terms of service & customer service) for a lower price and the technicians will actually ask if I would like some water. read more

They weren't really friendly or personable. I got a basic spa pedicure $33. My technician's only words said to me, "What color?" and when he was done, "Sit over there by the dryers." Although really close to my home, there are others just as close that I've been more pleased with. So I don't plan to return again. I do think the salon is clean and pretty. I've tried this place several times. Pedicures are okay and the gel seems to stay well. However, for SNS I've tried several different people and it continues to chip after less than a week and a half. Sometimes the top layer peels and sometimes it chops altogether. Just doesn't seem to be a consistent approach to the application. They aren't very apologetic about it either and since they remove it all every time and won't just repair it, it takes 50+ mins and they charge for the removal so it's $50 (not even for a French). I don't have the time or money for that every 1-2 weeks. Won't be going back. read more

I went here last Thursday for a pedicure and manicure. The atmosphere is nice, but, my nail tech never said a word to me except for which type of pedicure I wanted. I bought the one with a callus remover and a leg mask. I feel like the entire pedicure was just light rubbing of my feet and legs. When it came time for the manicure, I was never asked which shape I wanted my nails. They ended up all different lengths and sizes. For $57 total; I could have done a better job at home myself.
