Beignets, beignets, beignets!…read more This place is perfect for a girls night, date night, friends night, solo night... honestly any night! I came here for drinks and dessert with friends, and the star of the show was definitely the beignets. As someone who has visited New Orleans and tried the real deal, I thought I knew what good beignets tasted like. Turns out, I did not have to travel that far after all! The beignets here are like a cross between a classic beignet and a croissant. Light, fluffy, and just the right amount of indulgent. I will definitely be back to check out more of the menu, but no matter what, I am saving room for the... say it with me... beignets!!

The Service was outstanding thanks to Hayley. Her recommendations for pairing the drinks with the food were flawless, and each drink was prepared like a work of art. I started with the raw oysters, paired with a glass of Rose, which I loved. They switched from the Halibut with Fennel to Mahi with Forbidden Rice. The rice is black and inky and potent and extraordinary, but it overwhelmed the fish completely. Still greatful I got to experience it, but I would pair it with something more gamy like lamb or goat. The Pecan pie with warm salted caramel ice cream was nothing short of a spiritual experience, and Hayley's recommendation to pair it with Rum Flip was perfect. Yes, I Ubered. Overall, this one is going to be a frequent hangout.

For my meal, I had the blistered shishito peppers, a favorite of mine, and the gumbo. The very large serving of peppers were good, but would have been great with a sprinkle of salt. As for the main course, I never knew that gumbo and potato salad were a thing, but it was very nice. My dining companion raved about the chicken pot pie. I got to try a bite as well and I agree it was very good overall. The crust was phenomenal. Recommended. As for the space, it's definitely on the quirky side. You will likely love it or hate it; there's no in between. If we had not visited on a cold winter evening, I would have preferred to sit on the covered walkway.

A cocktail described as "not too sweet" was cloyingly so. When it came time to order plates, our server seemed distracted and was unhelpful (eg, how would you like your eggs? Poached? No, we don't do that. / Do you have sour cream? No. What's that white cream on that plate? Yogurt. Can I have some? [No yogurt ever arrived.]) We tried a variety of offerings, including the shakshuka, monte cristo, shrimp & grits, and chicken & waffles. Shakshuka was very flavorful but the egg cookery sucked (easy came out hard). Monte cristo balance was off (too much jam to ham ratio). I didn't try the others, but the rest of the party seemed to enjoy them. Had to order additional maple syrup (for an extra charge) for the chicken and waffles. A second round of drinks took close to 40 minutes to come out, and then arrived wrong. We had to actively flag staff down to get a fix. Then we sat for a long time, after the table had been bused around us, waiting for the server to come back by. She attended other tables around us while we waived to her to get a check. She did not make eye contact or check in, and at one point was actively carrying on a conversation over my head with another table as she attempted to hand me our long-awaited check. All around, middling food and poor service. Won't be at the top of my brunch list.

The North Hills spot ( 4421 Six Forks Road in Raleigh, beside Total Wine) feels settled in the best way. Comfortable, Welcoming, Cozy. We started slowly. A wine flight. Truffle fries with truffle aioli, parmesan, oregano. Marinated olives layered with citrus and herbs. Nothing too over the top, but generous and satisfying. The kinds of plates you keep reaching for without realizing it. For dinner, we had the the NY Strip (North Carolina pasture-raised Angus with Diane sauce and a French onion potato gratin). And the roasted whole fish (with hazelnut gremolata, citrus beurre blanc, and confit sunchoke). Both cooked to perfection, nothing missing, and absolutely delicious. What stuck with us the most htough, the service. Ben and Oscar were sharp, attentive, and present without being overbearing. They made the evening feel even more incredible. Some places try hard to impress - Foxcroft Food & Wine just delivers (time and time again).

The business was clean and there is also a bar inside. The restaurant has a large selection of wines and offers flights for purchase. The restaurant had some people dining in but they were not overly packed. Initially our server was pleasant and attentive. I got a blood orange sparkling water. It was ok. I ordered the whipped ricotta for an appetizer to share and a burger with fries for my entree. The whipped ricotta was ok. It would taste better with some sort of seasoning in it. My fries were served hot but needed some salt. I asked for my burger to be cooked well done but I was brought a burnt burger. I took one bite but it was too overcooked. I then requested that my server have my burger be cooked medium well so I didn't get another burnt burger. When my burger was brought back out, our server had me cut into my burger to make sure it was to my liking. The preparation was better but it was bland and tasted like there wasn't any seasoning on it. After this our server wasn't as attentive anymore. For dessert we got the donuts. They were served warm and I enjoyed them with the cherry sauce. I did not like the chocolate sauce that was served with the donuts.
