I found the coffee shop I have been looking for my entire life, and it resides in a historic home in downtown Canal Fulton.
Walking into the parlor of the Monastic Home is like walking into one of those cozy "oldies playing another room but it's raining outside" YouTube videos, except that it's real. Between Hannah's excellent decorating skills (tip: everything you see is for sale!) and the mix of 1930s and 1940s music humming in the background, it's impossible not to settle into a chair and make yourself at home.
The hostess of the home, Hannah, is just as equally warm & welcoming. Hannah offers a unique and delicious array of pastries and sandwiches. My cousin and I just about took one of everything; our favorites were the olive oil loaf (trust me, it's good!), raspberry jam bar, and Scottish shortbread. We also ordered lattes with a syrup recommended by Hannah.
This is most definitely a spot to come when you want to curl up with a good book and are craving the comfort of home - it's embedded in the Monastic Home's decor & baking and hospitality of Hannah and her family. read more
