    The best Apple fritters!!
    Valerie C.

Amazing Apple fritters. Enough said. But seriously, it has been fun over the years to watch Miller's Bakery grow and develop. The first time we went, there was no electricity. It's still a cash only business, but now there are lights. They have many delicious baked goods and even a small part of the store dedicated to other home made goods. The rustic table and tree stump stools invite you to enjoy a bite to eat while you're there, so we absolutely enjoyed that! They even provided coffee to go with all those goodies they sell. I highly recommend a visit here.

Well that was worth the trip off the beaten bath. The cream sticks melt in your mouth and are filled full of light whipped icing. The mini apple fritters are the size of your face! We went around lunch time and the selection of donuts and bread was limited. There were several people ordering fry pies so I am guessing those are pretty good as well. We picked up some homemade noodles and garden bread to take home.

Wow. The biggest thing that stands out to me is FRESH. My mom and I agreed that we've had food straight out of the oven that didn't seem as fresh as this stuff. How do they do it? I enjoyed the cheese tarts, but I don't think they would get me back here on their own. And the maple iced cinnamon roll, raspberry fry pie, Apple fritter and rye bread were all well above average, but again, since it's a little off the beaten path, might not go often. But oh my, the iced black raspberry filled donut. Sorry, I need a minute. ...Ok. I don't even know where to start. The frosting? The filling? The dough? They were all perfection, and in the perfect ratio, plus it was huge and less than $2. There are whole blackberries in the filling. And tbh, I don't even normally think of blackberries as having a tremendous flavor, so that makes it even more impressive. But oh, the freshness. I forced myself not to eat it all in one sitting, and several hours later when I went back to it, it was still fresher than most donuts are right when you buy them. Again, I don't understand how they accomplish this. Btw, I didn't try any cookies this time, and I highly regret it now. (Side note: I was there on a Monday morning--maybe other days aren't as fresh??)

Staff at the farm and in the farm stand were all friendly. Although the place was busy, there was next to no waiting to get up close and personal with the animals or walk around inside the market. Our visit was mostly the gift shop and grocery store. The grocery store was a great stop for snacks. They had some delicious pies. At least the cheese and blackberries one I had was delicious. And since the crust is great, I would imagine they were solid choices. They had a nice selection of Amish popcorn and maple treats too. The gift shop is large and has a good selection of items. The yard decor and patio furniture were all fairly impressive. Some things were even Buckeyes themed! The leather goods were the other highlight. I thought the rucksacks were great and had me wishing I could take a hobbit adventure But, the highlight for my sister was a real/ nice belt that she is excited about. My highlight was the pecan turtle I had for dessert. It's a great spot in Amish country and the service was very pleasant.

A Pain Au Chocolat croissant better than what you'll find anywhere in France? I'm thinking yes. No,…read moreI'm telling you, yes! So rich and flaky, they've definitely done their homework, and this boy knows his croissants! I just got back from Paris (name drop.) This up-and-coming baker of the finest croissants this side of the Atlantic is located in Zanesville, Ohio, but you won't need a day trip to experience their flaky layers of perfection. You can find them at their Granville Market booth, at various Zanesville events throughout the year or now in Columbus, OH, at The Hills Market, in the freezer section in 6-count boxes. Even more exciting news is they bought a new place in May, are currently renovating and planning a late September 2014 opening of a storefront. Can. not. wait. Fall. road. trip. You can also order their goodies on their site, which I haven't done (obviously.) A 12 pack runs around $40, which is a little steep but once you do the math $3 each for such quality is quite a deal. Especially when round-trip tickets from Columbus to Paris is averaging what, $1100-$1700?

I decided to buy basically one of everything they had left(come early) and I was amazed with all of it. The croissants are what croissants are *supposed* to be, but the real star of the show for me was the mushroom quiche. I could eat those things daily and not complain. If you make your way in, be sure to try a little bit of everything. That's my only advice. Oh, and like I said, come early.
