creamsicle mocktail

10 out of 10 out of 10 out of 10! I'm going to get to the food, but if I'm being honest (and I can't remember the last time I said this about any place, tbh) the standout star at The Moderne is the SERVICE. Top notch on every visit. Incredibly attentive, friendly, helpful, and committed to giving guests the best experience ever. If you're lucky enough to be sat with Anthony, ask him about his recent bartending experiences in Batuu. Non-drinkers--the bar *will* make you a mocktail, and I suggest giving them inspo. My rec? Tell them you want something creamsicle adjacent, you won't be disappointed. The food is just as good as the service--the rotating, seasonal menu is always delightful. The KFC remains undefeated, with a side of ranch ALWAYS, full stop. The tempura eggplant is last meal worthy. And for the ambiance to come in last, and still be a 10/10? You cannot lose with The Moderne, the jewel of Mills 50.

Super cute but gets crowded fast if you don't have a reservation. My cousin and I went for happy hour on a Thursday and all the tables were full/already reserved. Luckily, there were 2 seats free at the bar. Happy menu is so fulfilling and cost effective. $8 STRONG cocktails? Yes please! Nice portions of food under $12? Yes and thank you. Everything was tasty, although some things needed a touch of extra salt and pepper. But I'll definitely go back. So many more things to try (moreso on the regular menu).

I went here on a weekday after work to celebrate a friend's birthday. My first mistake was not making a reservation, fortunately, we were able to seat at the bar and that worked well for us. We started off with some drinks and most of us order the sake sangria, it was delicious and refreshing. We also ordered food including the croquettes, bao, sushi rolls, quesadilla and the seafood pappardelle. The food was great and perfect portions. The restaurant has beautiful decor and style but at the same time it felt pretty chill. I definitely recommend making a reservation in advance.

I love the Moderne! The vibes, the service, the food are all incredible. A perfect date spot or nice night out with the girls, the Moderne doesn't miss. When I went with a friend, our server was so kind and gave us recommendations that were spot on. The only critique I have was that the miso cream noodle was a tad salty, but otherwise, each dish was packed with flavor that complimented each other. Definitely one of my top places in the Mills area.

Yummy food & great service! Overall, it was a good experience, but feels like something is missing to give it 5 stars. Definitely worth a try!

I recently spent an evening at The Moderne and grabbed a seat at the bar. The ambiance immediately sets the tone. The lighting is warm and moody, the décor feels modern and thoughtfully curated, and the whole space has that upscale-but-still-relaxed energy that makes you want to settle in and stay awhile. It's the kind of atmosphere that works just as well for a casual night out as it does for a celebratory dinner. Now for the food. A few dishes really stood out: * Miso cream noodles - easily my favorite of the night. Rich, savory, and incredibly satisfying. * Asian sticky ribs - flavorful, and perfectly glazed. Definitely worth ordering. Some of the other items we tried were good but didn't quite stand out as much as those two. That said, the cocktails were fantastic and I would absolutely come back just to explore more of their drink menu. But the real highlight of the evening? The bartenders and staff. They were genuinely welcoming, full of great recommendations, and brought such positive energy to the experience. Sitting at the bar felt less like waiting for food and more like being part of the evening's vibe. Great service can elevate an entire meal, and that definitely happened here. Between the beautiful atmosphere, strong cocktails, and standout hospitality, this is a place I'd happily return to. Next time I'll be back at the bar with a drink in hand, another order of those miso cream noodles, and a mission to explore more of the menu.

We really enjoyed the vibes, service, drinks, and food were all really good. It's open sitting so be prepared to wait or hurry to snag seats if needed if you're there with a group. It's great as well for a date night as well. If you sit at the couches you will have to go to the bar to order food. Overall I highly recommend!

This place is a vibe! Gorgeous decor and bar. Sat at the bar on a Sunday at 6:30pm, greeted quickly. Got one of their Feb special drinks and an original. Both were crafted with love & so much flavor, plus they're gorgeous (see pic!). Was so hard to pick what we wanted to eat, but we got a few things to share. Edamame (great but too salty for me), pork bao (wow!!), and green tofu curry (double wow!). I really enjoyed my time here and would recommend it as a great happy hour or dinner spot.

Tapas style food with a great intimate atmosphere. Service was quick and efficient and super friendly. Great for a date place or a casual meal with a friend. We went with a group and that was a bit of a struggle. I would definitely go back but with l4 people or less.

Came with friends for dinner on a Monday night. Surprisingly, it was busy and we were glad to have a reservation. Our table was not ready when we arrived so we grabbed drinks and ordered happy hour bites at the bar. We closed out at the bar and moved over to our table when it was available. Our friends have been there a couple times but it was our first. We shared small plates. Everything was good. I would avoid the sushi if I go again, because they put too much rice. It's fine and it's good but there's great sushi at so many other places. So, skip the sushi. I enjoyed the duck wontons, the lamb, the kimchi pasta, the chicken wings and the broccolini. They also have a strong cocktail game. They have the usual suspects and then they have monthly featured cocktails. Awesome. Dessert was great. We got the ice cream. Yum. One was like a deconstructed key lime pie. So good. Service was fantastic. Ambiance is good. A little noisy. Parking is a lot out back. Bathrooms are clean. We would come back here for more small plates and definitely cocktails.

Last call for kitchen is 11:30pm, and I arrived at 11:15pm. Chilean sea bass skewer was good but it is small. Beef bulgogi was very mediocre...and that Korean chive pancake on the side was a slap in the face to Korea...it was basically just tortillas. Finished off with black sesame cheesecake which I could've done without. If you do end up trying, you gotta make sure you get all layers in your bites...just the top cheese part by itself is not good... So food overall was just ok. Decor is elevated and bathrooms are also fine. Bartenders were nice. Didn't try the cocktails so can't speak to those.

Best drinks I have had in a long time!! Servers were incredible and patient with questions. I felt like they gave us time and weren't rushing us out but stayed on top of us. The inside was a vibe and the music was great volume super chic place. The Chilean sea bass skewer is a MUST and the shrimp and crab Gyoza were a 12/10. I will say it is a tapas place, the portions were on the smaller side for apps but still good. I will be returning for good cocktails and tapas.

Every time I come to Moderne, I'm even more blown away than the time prior. Somehow, the menu takes my favorite Asian inspired dishes & gives it their own twist. Bold flavors, savory dishes with a drink menu that had limited edition based off of the seasons. The Parranda in Osceola cocktail was a great twist of the best holiday drink--Coquito. It wasn't too busy for a Friday night, but I always recommend making a reservation even for a smaller group since it's typically very busy as the night goes on.

I could see lots of people bringing dates here. First up, I tried a $17 Tree of Life. The drink the bartender made me was maybe 2 sips. There's a giant ice cube and a bamboo leaf or something and very little drink to drink. Not sure what to make of this because as soon as I was deciding if I liked it or not, it was gone. Wouldn't order this again. Second, I tried a $17 Adam & Eve. I wish the matcha was much stronger. There's a place in Tampa called Tori Bar that has a super duper matcha tasting cocktail. This one was much lighter. It was fine, not my favorite. Maybe I'd bring a date here sometime, but wouldn't go out of my way to come here.

We were especially impressed that servers not tending to our table placed orders/knew of orders and communicated with the waitress serving us. Most restaurants struggle to keep orders ready with the designated server, this place EXCELLED with communication. We all enjoyed a variety of different cocktails, all of which were delicious (however a bit pricy for some) and all partook in appetizers and entrees. ALL of the food was delicious and had fair portions, couldn't say enough good things. This place is a bit cramped but not horribly, the decor is cute and everything is clean :) Most importantly, to celebrate the birthday we were brought a tres leches cake that paired very nicely with the pastelitos and cafecito service! The cake was DELICIOUS, the coffee was wonderful, and the experience was a highlight for a busy weekend of festivities! 10 out of 10 will be coming back again! :)

Because of this, when I arrived yesterday, I immediately asked them what time their kitchen closed and their kitchen closed an hour before close. So keep that in mind as well. I sat at the bar. Service was good. Food was amazing! I got their dumplings, miso toast, risotto, and their creme brûlée. Everything was so fantastic, except the miso toast. It was good but I wouldn't get it again. The crème brûlée was so amazing! The chocolate espresso beans were 10/10. I ALMOST tipped them 50% of my bill! So as a server, thankfully I caught this. I just apparently still believe that when oysters and $47 pasta appear on a menu, one should be able to hear the person sitting across the table. To be fair, the service throughout the evening was excellent and attentive, and the bourbon drinks ("Filthy Behavior") were genuinely good. We also ordered the croquettes, Caesar salad bites, 12 oysters, the spicy rigatoni with lump crab, golden rice with shrimp, and a discounted prosecco because it was oyster/prosecco Tuesday. The pasta itself was cooked properly, and the golden rice ended up being the least salty thing we ate, which unfortunately made it the standout. Everything else tasted as though the kitchen had recently suffered a tragic misunderstanding involving seawater. At one point we asked if the music was usually this loud because we genuinely couldn't hear each other speak. Our server kindly said she would check on it, but either management said no or the DJ entered a blood oath with the sound system. Conversation had become theoretical. Maybe this is the vibe now. Maybe dining is no longer about the food and meaningful conversation, with lighting so oddly bright--less intimate dinner, more "the club is closing, please locate your belongings"--while paying $220 for two people with automatic gratuity included. For me, the whole experience felt wildly overpriced--ordinary food dressed in extraordinary.
