Folks still get confused that the garage entrance door won't get them into the restaurant. It is mostly a sit down only. The counter space is the kitchen space and check-out, a different layout and setup inside than its predecessors. Not an inexpensive menu here at all. However the menu is quite extensive and expansive for vegan options. Gets a bit chilly without a coat since the door rushes in cold blasts of air to keep the dining area cool. Had to put my coat back on. I was glad I had on warm boots on as well, as I could feel the coolness on my legs. Ordered a protein bowl with steak, the lobster melt and the cowboy burger. $71.02 They are out of guacamole and sweet potatoes, today. :( There is a large party ahead of us with about 14-16 people and their food is slowing down our food from coming out in a timely manner. The protein bowl was okay, the steak was quite dry and definitely overcooked. The green goddess dressing is super thick and creamy, but doesn't have a lot of flavor to it. I was glad to get the lemon vinaigrette dressing to add some tartness and flavor to the overall salad. Some of the chick peas were hard as a rock - quite odd. Not sure this salad was worth $23. The cowboy burger was good, messy, but it stayed intact. $22 seems a bit steep for a vegan burger though. The lobster melt tasted pretty good, however, the white sourdough bread slice didn't hold up so well to each bite and fell apart, rather brittle. I ended up having to gut the sandwich and eat it with fork bites. Eating it as a hand sandwich was too hard to eat. $22 for a composite vegan melt. Finally made it for Saturday lunch. Disappointed. The ambiance for an afternoon lunch doesn't cut it for me. Music was way too loud asked to turn down and didn't happen. A lot of push on happy hour and I'm not a drinker lots of us vegans are not. Guess that explained the loud drunk guy at the bar cursing up a storm. Is this a bar club or a lunch place that my party can hear me talk? It was 1pm. The Food: Wanted to like it but when it's a beyond burger and a protein bowl that I have to cut each item it's a problem. No real creativity. Vegan food is not just throwing a package meat replacement on a bun and veggies. In house meat replacements, homemade sauces are a must. Scale down the menu quality not quantity. Looked like the Cheesecake Factory menu. Ordered waffles for my son those were good but not what we ordered they ran out of items and forgot all the toppings. The service: Slow ( was only 3 people in the place) and was not what we ordered. Had to keep asking for condiments for food. I don't see this place lasting and sad because I'm sure they put their heart into it. The food has to be on point with items that are made from scratch. FINALLY. i had been wanting to try TMV for years but never found my lame ass in Vegas. conveniently enough they decided to say "ope let's go to the midwest." and landed 3 miles from my house. sick! coming on day one, i expected some hiccups, and i do think it'll probably take some time for them to work that all out. from the time we came in until the time we left, it took 2 hours, and it took about 90min for the food to initially come out -- that should be expected (i hope) from people heading in for their opening weekend.. that's okay though, you'll likely spend 30min just looking over their menu. seriously, it's a biggin'. it's also hot as hell inside. i mean the kitchen's right there in the open, but keep in mind that their thermometer read 81 degrees. i ordered the roadhouse and my celiac-riddled girlfriend opted for the pad thai. the staff was crazy helpful and the chef even came out to explain what would be "most" celiac friendly, so cheers to that. the roadhouse (see: pic) is massive. it kinda looks small in the picture without something for scale, but trust me. if you've been to ale mary's, they give you about 2x as many fries, and the sandwich is twice as big. so.. come hungry as shid. seriously. the cHiCkEN looks and tastes comparable to a legit chicken breast. it's wild. the breading was crispy, too. my only critiques i think is that i'd prefer the bbq sauce have some heat to it, or to have jalapenos on the sandwich. maybe an onion ring? i'm getting greedy. as for the fries, nice. it's hard to screw fries up to be fair, but they're good. i recommend their tmv sauce with them. it's like chick-fil-a sauce without the homophobia! how fun. really the thing with this sandwich is that once you pick it up, you can't set it down -- it's a messy b, thanks in large part to the probably-should-be-strained-a-bit coleslaw. overall though, incredible. the pad thai i didn't have any of, but my girlfriend didn't seem impressed. it was oddly creamy (see: pic) and didn't taste like pad thai.. which i guess shouldn't come as a surprise, i suppose? knowing the source? she mostly said, to my surprise, that it was just overall bland. it was also $25 and a pretty meager portion, plus $3 more than my yuuge sandwich and fries. to each their own though! the prices.. yeah, they are definitely steep on the surface (the biggest shock to me happened to be the cocktails... $17-20 each with premium liquor, if i read correctly), but for the amount of food you get -- at least with the sandwiches -- it's worth it. my girlfriend and i were the only ones we saw leaving without a box of leftovers. truly, i do believe they'd be better off shaving their prices a tad and making the portions more manageable for more people, but i'm okay with that. to be honest, I've had a couple weird experiences here. I really love the food and I obviously love that it's entirely vegan as somebody with a dairy allergy. But I get very strange vibes from this place. Every time I come in, it's completely empty. the staff does not seem happy to be there and the food always takes forever. My most recent visit I was trying to place an order online, but the website was not working. I tried on my computer, my phone, and had two other people try it on their computers. It did not work and I could not even view the menu or the website at all it said it was launching soon. So then I called to ask if I could place an order and they said it's against company policy to take orders over the phone so I came in and placed the order and had to wait an extra 20 mins than I would have had to by placing it over the phone or online. while I was waiting for my food an employee was sitting at the counter next to me talking very rudely to another employee, telling her about smoothies and milkshakes and how to do things properly while the other employee seemed visibly uncomfortable by the way she was speaking, and it was kind of awkward. It was pretty unprofessional and weird to be talking to another coworker in that way, right in front of a customer. I can't imagine this place is a fun environment to work in or eat at. Not to mention the insane prices, especially on DoorDash. I know restaurants have to charge on DoorDash because of their fees, but it is quite insane to be paying $25 for a sandwich and fries. overall, i can't see this place lasting long which is sad, because their food is really good. the website is just never working for me still and says launching soon. even the vegas website is messed up too read more

The food was absolutely delicious and so were the drinks. I honestly couldn't tell the difference between this Mac and traditional Mac. The wait time was a bit longer than anticipated but I'm also giving a lot of grace as they literally just opened and I know it takes time to get into the swing of things. While I understand that inflation is a thing, I'm giving four stars because $10 for a side of coleslaw is excessive. This is the second location of TMV, the first being in Vegas. My hope is that they realize that the Midwest needs more Midwest pricing and adjust to make this space more accessible, and possibly pare down the menu as there are so many choices that I worry about overall quality in the long run. Served with carrots, celery and ranch dressing. Ample portions. Also had the Breakfast Burrito. Made is chicken, tofu scramble, sautéed peppers and onions, beans, corn, lettuce, shredded cheddar, sour cream, salsa, and guacamole. Comes with breakfast potatoes and tortilla chips. Hubby had the the Chicken Mac and cheese wrap. It was huge!! The chicken is prepared in a dry rub and drizzled with maple syrup. The mac and cheese are stuffed in the wrap with coleslaw, green onions and the TMV sauce. Comes with absolutely delicious french fries. They offer outdoor seating. There is a bar section with tv's for watching sports or news. Service staff are well trained. Food service is a little slow. Great place to check imout before or after a movie or just hang out. We were there for two hours and boxed up the last two meals. I can't even write out how I truly feel because it would be too long, so I'll sum it up. Horrible service. Horrible wait time. Over-priced. Most of the food was good but sadly I won't be back and even more sadly, the place will probably be closed down by then due to the experience they offer. Parking is a hassle depending on when you go it's Royal oak . The earlier the better in my opinion . This is my second time coming the cha cha cha dessert is the best thing on the menu . My son had the great American pretzel burger he liked it . My oldest son had the taco nachos and they were decent at best. Oh dear. Have been trying to eat more plant-based and decided to come here before the movies. Well, we get in and there is a near empty restaurant. Upon seating, we try to get a glass of wine. "We've run out of wine". We tried to order one of the appetizers. "We're out of spinach dip." The first appetizer came - "cheese" fries. They use what appears to be a nut-based "cheese" sauce and well .. it tasted nutty and was gritty. I have a Vita-Mix at home and can get better texture. I ordered the Protein Buddha Bowl. Friends, this is not a bowl. This was served with green vegetables on one side and a portabella mushroom topped with cheese and other stuff on the other side. Chickpeas are listed, but did not appear. No peppers, tomatoes or carrots either. In fact, there was no protein in the deconstructed protein bowl. This was so incredibly disappointing. And, I have not got to the prices. My plate of greens and a cheese topped mushroom was $23. The burgers are $22. Most entrees are $25. It is okay to charge higher prices when the food is high quality, ingredients are readily available and the food matches the description in the menu. If you can't hit these basic check marks, consider reducing prices. As my dinner date/sister said, "It's better to order vegan/vegetarian dishes at a restaurant known for good food than it is to go to these types of restaurants". The difficult part for me is that plant-based can be great - Eleven Madison Park in Manhattan is now nearly completely plant-based, meals can run over $1000 with wine, and people come out saying its the best meal it is ever had. When you provide a terrible meal at these prices, it sours people about the concept. And the last thing we need is people giving up on plant-based. The service was kind, though. No issues with waitress or timeliness of food coming out. I felt like she was in a tough position. read more

All of the effort that went into the concept of an entirely vegan restaurant with such an expansive menu was absolutely wasted on the worst service I have ever had -- TWICE. I was hoping the initial experience was a fluke, but twice, months apart, I spent OVER AN HOUR waiting for what I ordered at this restaurant with only 1-2 other parties in the building. Staff refused to answer repeated questions about nut-based products to confirm allergens -- and not just in a, the answer is on the menu type of way; in a "is this vegan cheese nut based? it's made of predominantly carrots. so are there nuts?" with no response after repeated follow ups. The staff has zero remorse for wasting your time. Not a single apology after repeated asks for an ETA of our orders -- 20 mins apart. I feel so compelled to post this so others aren't scammed into a truly awful experience. Of one appetizer and three entrees, it took us 30 mins after ordering to receive water. Another 20 mins to get the appetizer. And another 20 mins apart for one entree at a time. The ambiance was uncomfortably peculiar. We expressed clear verbal and physical exasperation that it took over an hour to receive our meals, with zero response, apology, even a two way conversation. I'm devastated for what could be but there is no way I could even stand idly by at this point. So awful. I had the worst customer service experience I've ever encountered at any restaurant, from Robby at the Royal Oak, MI location. I placed an order online but mistakenly selected pickup instead of delivery. I immediately called TMV Royal Oak and spoke to Robby, I explained that I needed to switch my order to delivery. He immediately became defensive, interrupted me, and told me they don't offer delivery. He kept sighing showing his frustration. I mentioned that I had placed a delivery order just last week. He once again insisted that there is no delivery option available. I pointed out that the website indicates delivery is available and that Uber Eats handles deliveries. Robby rudely told me that I would just have to call Uber Eats. I once again told him I didn't place a delivery order. I selected pickup by mistake. Robby told me I would need to call corporate to cancel the order. He said that the TMV website is not connected to the Royal Oak store. It is a franchise. When I asked Robby for the corporate phone number, he ungraciously stated, "I'm just an employee; I don't know." He didn't attempt to find the number or provide any form of customer service. Fortunately, Autumn called me back and had a completely different tone. She was warm and helpful. She informed me that they could cancel my order through their store, and I could place a new delivery order. I thanked her and let her know that was all I was requesting. What started as a simple request turned into my decision to stop being a customer due to the rude treatment I received from Robby. Management should provide him with additional customer service training before he interacts with any more customers. This company will definitely loose more customers if they are treated like I was today. read more

We arrived around 7:30 on a Friday night to a restaurant that never was more than 1/3 full during our visit, and were immediately seated at a high top. Our server was a little delayed in taking our order (two waters, one banh mi and one lobster sandwich, with a side of standard fries for each), but what really took the cake was that we waited a FULL HOUR to receive our order, during which time we saw people leaving after being seated, and guests immediately boxing up their food after being served. Once we'd reached the hour mark, we asked the server if they'd started our order. We'd wait if they'd already started, and were prepared to scoot if not. She apologized for the wait and said new restaurant ... to be expected ... issues with the kitchen ... blahblahblah. (They were floundering something horrible, even five weeks post-launch.) Our server checked with the kitchen and said they were just cutting the lobster sandwich in half. So, dinner was within reach. She brought one sandwich and said, "tragically, we are out of fries," and offered salad or sweet potato fries instead. The sandwiches and sweet potato fries were pretty good! But definitely not worth an hour-long wait. This was not a busy restaurant: we saw seven team-members and not much hustle. We noticed a range of 3-5 tickets queued up in the kitchen at a time - a well-oiled kitchen would handle that volume with ease. I would like to see this place succeed. But there is work to be done. At the very least, customer expectation management: let your guests know if there is an "issue in the kitchen" that would warrant an unreasonable wait ... this eatery shares a parking lot with a movie theater, and people are likely hoping to get a bite in a timely manner so they don't miss their flick. If the place is still in business after a few months, we may return in hopes their operations are up to par. read more

I have followed a vegan diet for almost three decades at this point and know what good vegan food should taste like. This place needs to work on a few things. To be blunt, service was fine but the food was bland and uninteresting. The produce, tofu, and mashed potatoes had virtually no seasoning. My guess is the kitchen has no idea how to season things and they are using lower quality ingredients. The kitchen seemed to struggle with getting orders out while the rest of the staff was just standing around. Perhaps management and the ownership needs to hire less servers and more cooks, and make sure the cooks have proper training. Anyone in the kitchen also needs to be wearing a hat or hairnet. One more thing. My spouse tried to order one basic item and the restaurant was out of a basic ingredient. No excuse for that when it's literally something that one of the staff standing around could have purchased down the street. I'm a vegan influencer in Detroit and to see something like this was quite disappointing. I know it's opening week but I was told 20 minutes to get a table and waited 59 minutes. A lot of workers were standing around not doing much to support the kitchen that was busting their butts. I saw a lot of wasted labor and not a lot of team work. The customer service was okay. I understand they were all stressed out but the place could have been better prepared because this as a first impression was cheeks. No hairnets were seen on the cooks heads. One lady had a bandana on which was nice. The ambience felt very rushed and artificial. The baseboards were dirty. The paint jobs on some walls were tacky and you can tell one was spray painted. It looks cheap. The painter left a trail of black paint drips across the floor. Whoever they hired to prep the building needs to give them their money back. The pineapple in my pina colada was old and tasted odd. The drink itself was mostly foam. The other drinks we got tasted like mocktails and were quite flavorless. 2/10 and the two is for the effort. The food over all was a 6/10 the Mac and cheese was runny. The flavor was great but did not stick to the noodles well. I wasn't too impressed. The queen burger was a solid 7/10 the crab cakes were great and the jalapeño poppers were undercooked because the cheese inside was not melted. I see the vision though. A lot of the deserts weren't able to be made because they didn't have many ingredients which was understandable. I'll give it a month to come back when hopefully they have everything sorted out. Some of these reviews of one must be self entitled people, and are unfair. I am not a Royal Oak person but didnt find it too difficult to find a parking spot. Met a friend and as a new restaurant just getting thier start the wait time was not too bad for 6pm on a Thursday. We ordered the roadhouse and The cowboy. Both were served after about 15 minutes and were quite enjoyable. Cudos to the chef/cook. The atmosphere is comfortable and not too load. The price​ is id say $$ which in my opinion is awesome since i eat out about once a year and enjoyed not having to prepare the meal, and now days I find a burger meal on menus i look at online are very comparable, so in reality the price is on target...also its one of the healthiest options for restaurants. I am sad thought because I was too stuffed to order desserts. Give them a try well worth it! I will be going back. Also i have rarely given a 5 star review. read more

I have tried about 8 different things and everything has been very good and they for most meals give you good portions (I can get 2-3 meals out one order usually). I have had the Frenchie (French Toast), Sunday Funday (Pancakes), Louisiana Fried Chick'n, French Toast Bacon Grilled, Chick'n Mac and Chesse, The Game Changer Burger, etc. I have never ate at the restaurant, only deliveries and that is an issue as they use UBER and about a third of the time, UBER has screwed up. Today, UBER even claimed to have delivered my order before it was even packed at the restaurant. It makes for a big waste of time, once UBER messes something up. It took 3 hours to get my food. I recommend Modern Vegan drop UBER or put them on notice that they have to improve. Today I tried to contact UBER's 2nd driver and he only spoke Spanish and he was lost. read more

There is not manager there, and it appears to be run by young adults that don't know what they are doing. Unfortunately 3 times was not a charm.
