This place is beautiful HOWEVER, they are unprofessional, disorganized, lack in communication, irresponsible (take no responsibility for their major errors). I HIGHLY suggest you not book here! Over 10 years ago I had booked what was my wedding ceremony and reception . We had a large guest list but the gentlemen we worked with assured us they'd be able to accommodate our exceptionally large group. We did the tours, had a few walk throughs, signed the contract, put our deposit then when I was going to make my final payment (in person) the gentlemen that was helping us was not there but instead it was a very young rude girl. She denied that we ever booked a reception and that she only had us down for a ceremony. I freaked out being our wedding was only months away. The young lady must have been related to the owner bc it showed in her nonchalant attitude. She kept denying that our contract had a ceremony and reception and that they could do nothing about it bc they have a reception booked on that date and that their must have just been"miscommunication". I explained how we were already working with a gentleman there who even walked us through the venue and showed us how they would set up the reception to accommodate our guest and how we had been in conversation with him and had a contract. We were really shocked and taken back by her denying what we experienced. The best this young lady could do was offer us a refund. What horrible service what terrible lack of integrity on their part, to lie and deny is troubling. Weeks before our wedding they dropped the ball and double booked on our already reserved date and they couldn't be professional about it and admit their error. Then they had the audacity to ask for a letter saying that WE breached the contract. What?! That was ridiculous but after that experience, we didn't even want our wedding ceremony there seeing their poor communication skills, lack of professionalism, lack of integrity and lack of concern just showed us how they would've been on our wedding day. If they couldn't be honest during the process then for sure we wouldn't be able to trust them on our wedding day. The reason I'm posting this over 10 years later is because now (years later) I am just now receiving an email response from them saying that my review on the knot.com is on hold until I can prove payment and contract. I'm baffled at this email, how unprofessional is that? Where have you been the last 10+ years, why respond now? Why are you asking me to provide records and proof when you have them yourself? That's silly that a business can withhold a review because they don't like what it says (the truth about their service) and why all these years later. Why are they just now reviewing reviews of their business? That email proves that they' are still unprofessional and still disorganized and still lack integrity. I'd still never recommend this place to anyone. It was pricey then so I'm sure it's more expensive now. Not worth it. Besides we've learned it's better to invest in an extravagant honeymoon and a starter home for your marriage rather than a one day event that cost a fortune that majority of your guest won't even remember the details and money that you put into it. But that honeymoon, and that investment in your marriage both you and your spouse will remember for a life time. DITCH THIS VENUE there are plenty other cool little hip places you can find at the fraction of the price that are much more creative. The Mitten Building is truly a one-of-a-kind event venue. We were beyond satisfied with our experience from planning through our big day. We worked with several people from the Mitten Building and everyone we had contact with was very friendly and provided excellent customer service. Our wedding reception was originally scheduled for late March 2020. Less than two weeks before our event was to take place, we got the call that it would have to be postponed due to COVID-19. The staff was very apologetic and allowed us to take our time with rescheduling. We even rescheduled twice because of changing mandates/ lockdowns with no hassle or fees. We met again with staff the week before our rescheduled event in May 2021 and we were able to update our guest count and adjust our invoice because unfortunately, it had changed significantly. The building is so beautiful and perfect for wedding portraits. We booked the Summerbell room and patio for our wedding reception. At our original walk-through meeting we were given a voucher to dine at the Mitten. We enjoyed it so much that we decided to book a tasking. After that tasting, we knew we had to go with the Mitten Building for our catering as well. All of the food was high quality and absolutely delicious! On the day of our event, we were treated like royalty. Our onsite coordinator from the Mitten Building ensured that everything was exactly as we had planned, ran smoothly, and took great care of us. What a cute wedding venue! My sister was just married here and it was so nice. The upstairs area was for the ceremony, the ground floor for dinner and dancing, and the basement was the bar. The bar was a little pricey but it is what it is. There was a bridal suite off to the side where we could store our stuff and the bride could get dressed. It's probably not large enough for everyone to get ready in there though. A nice touch was that the venue staff set aside all of the stuff guests left behind and made themselves available for people to pick up after the fact. I meet weekly here for a networking breakfast. The Mitten Building provides the space, tables, chairs and breakfast. When our group started meeting here, we were charged a flat fee. A employee cleared our plates, so we didn't have dirty dishes in front of us during our meeting and was to refill the water and coffee and also there if we needed anything, such as a pot of tea. The breakfast was of at least average to good quality and a decent variety. I actually loved the handmade sausage with spices. Most people found something they enjoyed in the breakfast. If members needed to stay later to meet further, it was not a problem. Our group felt it was a good value. Fast forward about 3 years later. Now, we are charged a higher flat fee for a minimum number of people, which our group occasionally goes below. If our group is over that minimum, we are charged per head. There is no longer an employee present to clear our plates, so we have dirty dishes sitting there for the entire meeting. If we need something, like a pot of tea, salt, water, etc., there is no one to provide it. Now the food is of low to below average quality. Hash browns are somewhat uncooked and cold. Pancakes feel stale and tough, as though they had been made at least a day before. Bacon (shown) is cold and congealed with fat, making it in-edible. Sausage no longer handmade, is chopped up kielbasa that is usually under or overcooked. Many people do not eat because the food is so unappetizing. We are shooed out at 15 minutes past our meeting time. We are paying way too much for bad food and no service. I do not recommend this place for ongoing meetings. I had my wedding here on October 27th. From day one with this venue it was nothing but positives. They work with you on so many things and are very accommodating. My aunt who was on a strict diet because of her cancer they were able to cater to her and made sure that she could eat. The staff was very attentive to detail as they were helping my coordinator set up. I gave them a lot to do because of all the details but let me tell you I couldn't be happier and my guests loved everything. I did the sit down meal option which was great and gave me and my husband time to walk around and talk to our guests. I highly recommend the dj they suggest which is DJ Paul. He is amazing!!! He keeps the flow going of the wedding and works with you on everything. He worked with me up until the day of with a song I prepared for my husband. But you won't be disappointed with him at all. He is amazing. Now to talk about my coordinator Jennifer. She works for the mitten and you hire her out separately. But she makes it worth the extra money. Because of her I was stress free the whole time. She brought my vision to life and made sure everyone was taken care of. she made the evening run smooth and it helps that she works there so she already knows everyone and everything and she knows the dj very well so that helps too. My wife and I had our wedding and reception at the Mitten Building this past January. From the moment she and I set foot in the Mitten, we new that our search for a venue was over. The space is unreal, and the staff is so nice. On a recommendation, we made the drive out to Redlands to check it out. Best. Decision. Ever. During the planning process, Josh, Victoria, and the entire team were incredibly helpful and responsive. They never turned us down to come look at the venue and scope out what we wanted to do or where we wanted to put decorations. They were up for anything! No nickel and dime-ing for every little detail, the pricing breakdown was all upfront and clear. The day of the wedding could not have gone any more smoothly. They say that something will always go wrong, well I literally can't think of a single thing that did. Shout out to Daryl. Daryl is the guy, the one guy, who hangs all of the lights and decorations and basically, makes whatever the couple envisions come true. We asked to hang market lights in the loft, something they had never done before, and it was no problem - not to mention it looked great! Daryl is, quite simply, the man. During the event, the staff they had serving the food, bartending, and making sure things went smoothly did an amazing job. A few examples, the lighted "BAR" sign we brought in ourselves went out, and one of the staff was right on it making sure it worked again. Just before our cake-cutting, a young staffer was rushing to re-stock the desserts "so the pictures look good." Are you kidding me!? So unbelievably helpful, thoughtful, and kind. I only wish that in the hustle of it all we had gotten their names, because it was the little details like that which helped to make the day and night so memorable. I'm 3 days short of 1 year late but I don't care. The Mitten was absolutely FABULOUS! I'm actually working on writing a 'Thank You' card because the staff was that great. Our wedding was May 9, 2014. We had around 125 guests in attendance and everyone said they loved the venue. Our theme was rustic chic. The chandeliers really dress up the main room and that's why I loved it. When my mom and I were searching for venues, we came across the Mitten. I told her I wanted something that wasn't your run of the mill banquet hall. I wanted some charm. And that's exactly what we got. Initially, we thought about using the secondary room because our wedding was small. But then, we decided to go for the main room because we could space out the guest tables nicely. We opted for catering by the Farm -- one of their recommended caterers. And the food was AMAZING! I remember it like it was yesterday! We had the braised chicken, green beans, mashed potatoes (to die for), and salad. Sophia (of the Farm) was who we dealt with and she was a doll. Seriously, everyone LOVED the food. A lot of people went back for seconds. Unfortunately, as the bride I didn't have that luxury :( LOL. At the end of the night, the staff washed the chargers and boxed them for us, as well. A-1 service! Jami, the in-house florist did the arrangements for us. We had 3 bouquets (1 for me, and 2 for each of my bridesmaids) and 6 boutonnieres made from succulents. They all came out lovely. And I'll post photos when I get to my laptop. Jami and my mom helped execute my vision, even though sometimes I had trouble articulating it and bombarded them with so many photos. LOL. Overall, we had a lovely experience at the Mitten. It's a great, historic gem in Downtown Redlands that I'm more than happy I found. I'd recommend this venue to anyone who'll listen. Who knows, maybe we'll have our baby shower here! read more

We were greeted by Amy who sat with us answered many of questions throughout the months of planning. She had a lot of patients and made many great suggestions. The rehearsal day came and Judy was there and she helped with what ever we needed they allowed us to put up some decorations the day of the rehearsal so we didn't have rush the day of the wedding . The wedding day came they allow you two hours before the ceremony to do finishing touches . They have a beautiful bridal room for the bride to get ready in .We were in need of a wedding cake and Amy mentioned that one of their chiefs makes wedding cakes her name is D'Anne the cake turned out beautiful . I have to say this is such a cute place to grab lunch if you're in the area.. although they stop serving lunch at 2.We came on a Wednesday and they had a musician playing some sweet covers in the corner. You can sit anywhere and they will come and take your order since the menu is on the table already. I believe they have like 6 different sandwich options ranging from $6-7. I got the meat loaf sandwich and my friend got the caprese sandwich. Both were delicious although the meat loaf definitely did it for me... nice sweetness from the sauce and caramelized onions and heartiness from the meat with nice balance from the mixed greens. Their vinegar-y/ sweet cole slaw also pairs well with the meat loaf sandwich. Unfortunately, the day we came their Square wasn't working or something so they couldn't accept card, but there is an ATM machine right on the premises. Also, it took probably 30 min for us to get our food.. I don't know really why since we came after the lunch rush and then another 20 minutes to get our bill processed. I have been wanting to get married at the Mitten Building for about 10 years and it finally happened. The staff was amazing to work with and worked with us so well due to us living out of state. I just love how the building has exposed brick and wooden beams everywhere. To me the prices were also amazing and you get so many choices. We had our ceremony and reception in the main room. The bridal room was also nice and had tons of Room, one thing I would change is having a bathroom in it. The food was also amazing he was very hard to first pick a menu and then to pick what we wanted from the menu because everything was awesome. What a rustic beauty. If I didn't know it was an old citrus plant, I guessed it was an old barn or something. Either way this thing is a beauty and belongs in the middle of a Tennessee field. I had the honor of attending a wedding here. Yeah the two hour+ Friday night drive in traffic from OC was not ideal but once I stepped into this place I was mesmerized by the warm glow of the oak wood floors and red brick walls. It was just fantastic, and appropriately decorated with christmas garlands form chandelier to chandelier above, wrapped with lights of course. Simply divine. When you first walk in you enter the general reception area, it can be a little confusing but it did make for a nice waiting area before everyone was ready to be seated upstairs for the ceremony. The level below was the bar, which was nice to have kind of separate from everything. The venue allowed different areas for conversation which is definitely nice for the guests who do not want to particularly sit in one place until the ceremony begins. All in all this place is an A+. I would consider having my wedding here one day, but the distance is the only thing I hesitate about, but it might be worth it! read more

My brother had his wedding here on Friday, October 12th, 2012 It was a really lovely place. There are 3 levels. The basement/bar level was terrific for after wedding cocktails and appetizers. The upper floor was used for the ceremony and dancing and the main level for dinner/cake. My bro and his new wife had about 100 guests and there was more then enough room to accomodate everyone and then some. My only gripes were the parking or lack thereof, and my brother's wife's grandmother could not get up and down the stairs. It didn't appear that the Mitten Building was handicap accessible? My husband said because it was a historical building (built in 1800s), it didn't have to be? I'm not so sure if that statement is true. We recently had our wedding here in the Summerbell room. We had such a blast and I cannot recommend the Mitten Building enough! First, the staff is amazing. We primarily worked with Jeff and he was awesome throughout -- always very helpful and knowledgeable! The staff made the planning super easy and the day of went without issue. They even went out of their way to find some obscure beer that my husband wanted! Second, the building itself is beautiful. It really is a blank canvas that comes together however you want! They have all the linens and lighting and can help with your own decorations so you can put your own spin on how you want everything to look. Finally, the food is GOOD. We got the basic buffet option with chicken and it was so good. We were able to add appetizers, as well which helped keep our guests occupied while taking pictures. I had my Wedding at the Mitten Building November 2010. My cousin got married here, as well, and from that moment...I loved this place and knew I wanted to have my wedding here. This place has amazing character and ambiance...from the brick and rod iron down to the romantic twinkle lights and candle light. It really sets a mood. It is family owned (Jeff and Jaime) are awesome and take care of everything to make sure your big day goes well. They can answer any questions you may have and are pretty flexible. We even had a ping pong table at the wedding and once we worried about getting it there. They made sure it was set up. I also had Jaime do our flower arrangements. The girls flowers were gorgeous and just the coloring I was hoping for. I think we sat down one evening and literally pounded out %75 of the wedding details from the ceremony to the reception and all the flower arrangements. Its was a load lifted. I would highly recommend the Mitten building if you are looking for a quaint romantic setting for your wedding. If there was any minor downside...they don't have a ramp for handicap purposes, if you have your ceremony in the upper loft area. We had to have my cousins carry my grandma up there. From the beginning the staff was awesome. They are so friendly and helpful. Anything we needed they provided us. Any emails we sent them we got a very quick response. Anytime we wanted to come look at the venue they were able to accommodate us. Even if an event was being set up they would let us take our time and look around and they would answer any questions we had. The venue is beautiful and perfect for a rustic wedding. We used the main room which is perfect. All our guests were blown away with how cool it was. The bar is awesome in itself! I would recommend this venue for anyone who is looking for a great place to hold their event! The day of the event staff was great as well. Our security guard was awesome and Victoria was great too. I went to a wedding last weekend where the couple had their reception at the Mitten Building. The Mitten doesn't look like much from the outside. In fact, it almost reminds me of a industrial-like winery, if that makes sense. But on the inside, we were pleasantly surprised by how spacious and interesting the interior was. The interior has brick walls that give it a rustic look. I even liked the chandeliers, which were simple and fitting for such a place. The ceilings had draped linens and twinkle lights that gave the room a subtly romantic look. There are two sections in the Mitten. The couple used the first room (near the entrance) as a reception area with bar, prior to their dinner. The larger room then opened up to a huge dining area that fit several tables on both the lower and upper levels. What I really liked was the downstairs bar area! It was perfect for the photo booth, along with the saloon-like bar. I think our friends had over 350 guests at their wedding and both sections of the Mitten worked perfectly as to accommodate the party, without being crowded at all. Went to a wedding here last weekend. I really love these old industrial style buildings. I believe they said the building was a 19th century packing house. Regardless of what it is, it's beautiful! I thought the outside was a little small but it did accommodate over 100 people. There are two venue's inside; we were in the smaller room but it felt pretty spacious. The color scheme and the decorations were really nice at this wedding; i think the room can handle a variety of color schemes well. This place is right next door to the boiler room, a bar in downtown redlands, so keep that in mind when you schedule your event. Holy moley. Who knew there were so many good eats here at Downtown Redlands! I came here to grab lunch with a friend (per suggestion of one of the servers I had met the night before - different story). The place was very earthy and had an ambiance similar to what I would imagine it would be like at a Seattle bar. Apparently they have local artists that sing/play instruments during their short 4 hour lunch period on Wednesdays. The place gives off that wine country feel minus the grapes. Low and behold we were greeted promptly by the two servers (one of which I had met the night before) who immediately seated us and readied us for lunch. Their warm demeanor and knowledge of their concise menu made the experience wonderful. When asked "what would you order here if it was your last meal on earth (by earth I mean California)?", the server responded immediately with, "the meat loaf." Sure enough, I had just that - this sacred meatloaf. Cooked a wonderful, what seemed to be, a medium well, yet still maintaining its juiciness. The meatloaf, draped between two perfectly toasted pieces of ciabatta (was it ciabatta?) bread, dripped its flavor juices as I held it in my hands, while I wiped the drool from the corner of my mouth... using the sandwich of course. The sandwich also had melted cheese, caramelized onions, and a mysterious sauce (ketchup anyone). Complimenting this sexy sandwich was a more conservative (but still delicious) coleslaw, which perfectly balanced all that flavah from the meat loaf. To cool off this flavor explosion, I ordered a cup of freshly squeezed orange juice - straight from the trees. About 30 minutes later, I had a food baby - I've decided to name him Jeffrey. Will definitely come back here when I come back to SoCal. Did I mention it was cheap as hell? $6 for the sandwich + coleslaw & some change for the orange juice. I came here for an event and I loved the indoor brick look with the small cute outside patio. The staff were very friendly, patient, with good customer service. The facility was also clean. I admired that for the ladies restroom they offered necessities for free (bobby pins, body spray, etc). Parking is limited so id conserve and carpool if possible. read more

I just attended a wedding here, and I must say the venue was amazing. The 3 level layout was amazing for keeping different aspects of the wedding accessible, but separate (ie photo booth away from dinner tables etc). It's definitely got that rustic feel that is so popular these days. I docked it by one star because after their hosted cocktail hour (which btw get shots and make your own drinks) it switched to a cash bar with no acceptance of cards. As a person that doesn't like to carry much cash I had the dilemma of not drinking or paying their atm in the corner's service charges. Also the food was pretty good, but kind of small on the portions. All in all, not sure on the cost of the venue, so can't speak to getting your money's worth, but I was pleased (minus my painful sobriety). read more

We had our daughter's wedding at The mitten Building. It was beautiful. The venue was set up as requested. The food was delicious. We received many compliments from our guests about the quality of the food and how wonderful the wedding was. Parking was not a problem. We hired Jennifer Simms from The Mitten Building as our coordinator. It was the best thing we could have done. She made sure we had everything we needed for the wedding and reception. Lunch at the Mitten Building Great place for lunch! Pretty good amount of food and reasonably priced. Don't come in starving because it's pretty small lunch size portions. We started with the three cheese penne side dish, so good and comforting! I had the short rib with polenta and a side of fruit. The short rib was tasty. The polenta was good, but COLD AND HARD. The fruit was a nice mix but a VERY small portion. Overall a good experience and worth stopping by. read more
