Loved this venue for the wedding! Small-ish, intimate space, for a medium sized wedding (~135 at this wedding). The catering, which I believe was done by an in-house husband and wife couple, was better than expected. The herb chicken, which my cousin said came highly- recommended, was tasty and juicy. The tri-tip was also solid, and cooked to medium as it should be. The wedding coordinator Katie, who came included with the venue, was amazing! My cousin, the bride, kept saying how great Katie was, and how helpful she was during the process. My cousin frequently remarked, "we trust her so much", which is great. Also, as a first time wedding officiant, she really made it easy for me. Also, Morgan the DJ, another venue provided vendor, was great to work with. The venue is on the second floor, which can be a challenge or an absolute deal breaker for some. They do have a chair lift though, which several of our attendees used to get upstairs. Parking could be a challenge, as the venue is located in historic downtown Redlands. According to my cousin, parking at the CVS was allowed, but I'd double check with the venue. Our daughter had her wedding reception here Dec 2025. Venue was amazing. We used both rooms for our event. Lots of compliments from our guests. Venue staff was super supportive of our ideas, and kept us on track all night long during the event. Venue is so unique, that we had very little need to bring much of our own decorations. Guests exiting onto State St after the event loved how quaint the atmosphere was outside as well. After bride/groom sendoff outside, we went back in to help take down and cleanup, and all of our decor was already boxed up and ready to go. They didn't want us to stay for cleanup. I was home 30 mins after event ended - not 3 hours later. It felt so nice to enjoy the evening celebrating instead of worrying about setup, cleanup, or the schedule itself. If you are a potential client,please be aware that aside from the contracted wedding coordinator, her staff is her and her husband and that is it as far as help with setup. Guests will have to move their own chairs between the two rooms provided. Two hundred is a generous amount to say that the venue can accommodate this number of guests, you will feel like a pack of sardines.The vendors provided are great...just be sure to ask questions and really think about what you're getting for the price you're paying. We reserved the Speakeaasy on State for our wedding 2 weeks ago. We absolutely LOVE this venue! Both ballrooms are absolutely beautiful! Katie (the owner) is amazing! For months I planned our wedding, emailing Katie questions from time to time and even going to the venue as I planned my decor. The history of the place for one -- it was an actual speakeasy during Prohibition. In addition, it's just an amazing location. Original wood floors, distressed brick, a beautiful event room with floor to ceiling windows and original chandeliers. Katies and her team are just stellar. We could not have picked a more perfect wedding venue than Speakeasy on State! We searched through a lot of different venues in Southern California, but many didn't feel right and/or nickel and dimed on everything. Speakeasy felt incredibly special when we first saw it. As a lover of vintage, I wanted something that matched my style and felt unique, and this historic space was all of that and more. So many of the details were kept in tact from when the building was a functioning speakeasy in the 1920s, and it was easy to see that the owners want to keep the magic of that time alive. Plus, Dawn was an absolute dream to work with! She was so kind and dealt with all of my emails asking a million questions. We had so much fun working with her and getting to know her. Part of why we chose Speakeasy was because we were able to choose a package that came with the food, cake, DJ, bouquets, and coordinator. Compared to all of the other venues we looked at, this was such a great price and having these items as part of the package took a huge load off having to look for vendors. All the vendors they set us up with were amazing, and given that we didn't actually choose them, we couldn't have asked for better people to work with all around. In addition to everything running smoothly, the venue itself was just beautiful. We really appreciated having two rooms for the ceremony vs reception so our guests could easily just walk to the next room. Speakeasy on State was the perfect place for my husband and I to celebrate our wedding in June 2017 and we feel so blessed that we happened to come upon this venue. We purchased their all inclusive package which was VERY affordable for what you get and the only thing it did not come with was videographer and photographer. My husband and I work full time and have very busy lives so I loved that I didn't have to search for every vendor on my own. This option helped us focus on other details that meant a lot to us rather then spending most or time looking for and interviewing vendors. The venue - Go see it! Its such a unique venue with rich history that gives you such a grand feeling. We were set on a destination or out door wedding and we searched for many venues in Santa Ynez, Yosemite, Irvine and all through out SoCa, but there was something about this venue that drew me in. We got married in a catholic church so we just used the venue for cocktail hour and our reception. We hosted the cocktail hour in the front room and used the ball room solely for dining and dancing. The space fit comfortably 150 guests. Once dinner was over we used the front room for our photo booth, our open bar, and ice cream social station. One of the main things I wanted in a venue was a big dance floor. With 150 guest we were able to have the dance floor in the center of the room with tables going all around the edges so every one had a front row seat. The vendors - Fabulous! I can not say enough about their preferred vendors. Their products and service all exceeded our expectations. Our grooms cake (A whiskey barrel) didn't even get cut because we think the catering staff thought it was a decoration it was so well done. They were all so kind, patient and super attentive. They truly made our night perfect. We got SO MANY compliments on our vendors and a few friends are now using them for their wedding. The owners - These two individuals are amazing people to work with. We worked mostly with Ariell and she was truly wonderful. She was super helpful, always so kind and went above and beyond for everything she needed, even our more detailed requests. What ever idea we had she truly worked with us on it and you can tell she really cares. She would even call every once in a while just to to check in on us. :) So many people say that there is always something that goes wrong but I honestly cant think of one single thing. The Speakeasy on State is a place to hold events. We attended a memorial service here and were impressed by the decor and size of the venue. There are two rooms and a kitchen area. One of the rooms is smaller than the other, which provides options for different event types and sizes. For the memorial, the smaller room was used for appetizers, desserts, and an area to display personal items. The larger room held a lot of people. I counted about 15 tables with eight to ten chairs around each table in the large room. The venue also provided a speaker and microphone to address those in attendance. The historical and classy interior would make for a great place for any type of event. There is plenty of natural light, and the high ceilings provide a grand effect. The mixture of brick and wood textures on the walls and floors was very nice. Bathrooms are available. The staff was also excellent! read more

I want to start this review with saying the venue is extremely beautiful. Lighting is perfect, the area around the venue is perfect for photos. I got married during the pandemic on June,2,2020. When my husband and I were originally planning our wedding we started looking at this venue in February 2019. We had a guest count of about 100 people. Needless to say the venue was so far out of our budget. They didn't seem eager to work with people on budget. So we crossed it off our list. Fast forward to April 2020, we had our entire wedding planned for May,31,2020. We had all our vendors paid for. Due to Covid 19 we had to cancel all our plans and we didn't think we could have our wedding. A couple weeks went by and a friend of mine sent me a post on Instagram, it was a post by The Speakeasy on State. It was an elopement ceremony package for $1,600 and came with 1 hour rental, officiant, photographer, and bride and grooms bouquet and boutonnière and a greenery arch. I figured I'd reach out and ask if we could come with our own vendors since I paid all of them already and they know what we want, right? I had spoken with Ariel through email. She responded to me saying this was fine we would just have to pay the hourly rate. It was $500 for an hour on Tuesday. 10 guests per the CDC and she would let me know if anything changed. I'm thinking this is insane but we went for it because we want to get married and still have our wedding day. I tell her we're going to do it. She asked me if we needed time for set up, I'm thinking this is great! Yes we do, thank you! She was going to charge me for another $500 for an hour just to set up. I responded confused. Ended up paying $250 for my florist to have 30mins to set up. She made it clear if we went over we'd be charged. I brought my florist with me to take a look at the venue, Ariel wasn't very welcoming to either of us. It's almost as if they know the venue is beautiful and they don't need customer service to help sell. She made me AND my florist feel like we were intruding. During the time we were looking at the venue she said that she sets up a zoom call for us, and we have to rent a speaker if we needed it. Four days before our wedding day I reached out to her to see if anything had changed with guest count as I saw something in the news about events allowing for more people. She responded asking how many people I wanted, and I said are we able to have at least 25? And she said it was fine. I was a little frustrated that she wouldn't of contacted me sooner with information of being able to have more people. After the meeting I told my photographer I was worried and discouraged. She told me that it wasn't the first time she had heard something like that about them. The day of the wedding my husband had 5 mins to set up our zoom call, it wasn't Ariel that set it up. Due to being rushed he wasn't able to record the meeting so we never got to see who watched our wedding. Ariel was nice the day of the event and was completely different then prior interactions. After the ceremony (we had 15mins to clean) my bridal party rushed while my photographer was rushing to get photos of my husband and I. Because we were afraid to be charged. With a few mins to spare we all rush down the stairs. And my officiant who was so patient asks where we should sign our papers. Ariel mentions we can go back up stairs and sign them since she will be putting chairs away anyway. I was very confused as she could have been so less strict with times and money if this was the case. We declined and thanked her and we left. read more

Start planning your events already as the 20's is upon us. This is a cute little venue in Redlands. It has that old timey charm while keeping it modern. The owners are really friendly and understanding. The actual reception hall was surprising quite spacious for the area; you can have a lot of people while still have a good amount of elbow room. Their in house catering food was delicious. This place is simple yet elegant and all around gorgeous. Probably the things to keep note about this area is the parking for your guests as downtown Redlands gets tight if you plan your event in the weekend. It has been almost one week since I've had my wedding at this wonderful venue. Don't let the outside fool you, this venue is so spacious! The high ceilings, natural wood floors and amazing brick wall is the perfect backdrop for pictures! I got to work with Ariell & Katie which were the most amazing woman I have worked with during this entire wedding planning process (3 years of planning) After our first view couldn't hold our wedding due to not surviving the covid pandemic, I was stressed and panicking.
