A somewhat tired exterior and an outdoor deck populated by smokers gave us pause but we pressed on and could not have been more pleasantly surprised by the food, drink, and service. We started with a Casamiga Ranch Water and a pint of the local amber ale. The drinks arrived in frosted glasses with the perfect degree of crispness. The star here is the prime rib. We had the 12 ounce prime which was perfectly rare and served with a large dollop of horseradish as well as a medium rare prime rib sandwich. The meat was flawlessly seasoned and impeccably tender. Our visit to the Coachman reinforced the adage that one ought not judge a book by its cover. We don't know if our adventures will take us through Plainfield again but if they do we will prioritize a meal at the Coachman!

The 8 ounce was plenty big with the two sides so I'm glad I didn't get the larger one. I will be back if I'm in the area. She suggested I try the pork tenderloin next time so I will do that.
