I'll start on a positive note: our waitress was fabulous. She was friendly, attentive when she could be, and clearly working extremely hard. Unfortunately, she also seemed very overworked. The ladies working at the front were also very friendly and welcoming.
Now for the disappointing part...
First, bring a sweater or jacket because the restaurant was absolutely freezing.
We were seated in an area with only two other couples, who had a different server. There was a golf tournament wrapping up that evening, and it appeared that much of the staff's attention was focused on the golf dinner and awards.
After we were seated, a server assistant brought us water. That was the first and last time we saw the assistant. It took quite a while to receive our appetizers and even longer for our entrées to arrive.
My mother ordered lobster over risotto. The lobster was extremely small and dry, and the risotto looked like oatmeal that had been sitting in a pot for two days.
My husband ordered the filet medium. Considering the type of restaurant and the price point, we expected the steak to be prepared properly. Instead, it arrived with absolutely no pink, and it was both dry and cold.
Thankfully, I decided not to order a full entrée because I knew I wouldn't be able to eat one after having an appetizer. Instead, I ordered the Mexican pork soup that was the evening special along with truffle fries. The fries arrived cold and stuck together, as though they had been sitting in the warming window for quite some time.
Unfortunately, the soup was even worse. I actually had to spit out my first bite. It tasted like I had taken a spoonful of liquid smoke, and the soup wasn't even room temperature--it was cold.
The bread was also cold and hard. We requested butter but never received it. I also asked for a Caesar salad to be split between my mother and me, and the salad never arrived.
When our appetizer was delivered, the gentleman bringing it to the table never said a single word. He simply stood there trying to place it on the table while apparently expecting us to move everything out of his way. A simple "Excuse me" or "Could I set this here?" would have gone a long way.
The two bright spots of the meal were the spinach artichoke dip, which we enjoyed, and my husband's smoked Old Fashioned, which he said was very good.
Our bill was over $250 BEFORE the tip. At that price point, I expect hot food, properly prepared entrées, reasonable service times, and basic attention to detail.
I understand that restaurants can have busy nights and that the golf tournament may have stretched the staff thin. I don't blame our waitress--she appeared to be doing everything she could under the circumstances. Unfortunately, the overall dining experience was extremely disappointing.
For more than $250 before tip, I would highly suggest dining elsewhere if you're looking for an enjoyable evening out. read more
