Vickie and the Menagerie were as fantastic as one can hope. After going engagement ring browsing at several different local Austin shops, the Menagerie stood out instantly. Vickie, who began the ring search process with "teaching me everything she knew about diamonds", made me feel incredibly at ease through every step of the way. With little direction from me, Vickie helped guide me through the process, kept me within my budget, and perfectly replicated the ring my fiance was eyeing. She had it ready in a very timely manner and produced a breathtaking ring. I cannot recommend the Menagerie, Vickie, and her staff enough if you're searching for your next jewelry purchase. read more

Vickie is my trusted, go-to jeweler. She loves helping people find the perfect piece and gifts!

I have loved The Menagerie for many years and continue to enjoy my relationship with Vicki Roan and her staff. I have a beautiful diamond that I had not worn in years! Vicki looked at it and said I should update the setting to something more contemporary. She had a new setting in mind and it's perfect for me. They delivered the ring today and I'm thrilled with the choice and quality of the setting! Just walking into The Menagerie is a wonderful experience as her taste in jewelry, china and crystal is timeless. I support our local Austin shops and we all should buy local when we can! read more

I should not have waited until the day-of to locate an anniversary gift for my wife, but I honestly didn't have the great idea until the night before. I called all over town looking for a very specific piece of china. My call to The Menagerie was far-and-away the best call that I made. They went out of their way to help me locate what I was looking for. They combed through their stock to find something that fit the criteria that I had, but it wasn't quite the design that I wanted. Then, they were happy to refer me to another business in town that I would have never thought of calling -- one that multiple web searches did not turn up. The new place was able to get me what I needed. Though I didn't end up doing business with The Menagerie, I would be more than happy to do so in the future based on the wonderful customer service I received. read more

I have been buying jewelry from Vickie since 2012. She has incredible taste - her jewelry is absolutely stunning. She has the most gorgeous pieces, and they're one of a kind. And her customer service is stellar. She has so much vibrance and personality, and she makes the shopping experience so much fun! She truly cares about her customers, and her customers are loyal to her in return - she has had the same customers for decades, and there's a reason. She's a brilliant and trustworthy businesswoman in how she builds relationships and how she runs her company. If you want unique jewelry and a fun shopping experience, go to the Menagerie. Highly, highly recommend!! read more

I love LOVE the ladies at Menagerie. My good friend is a long time customer of The Menagerie and I can see why. They really take the time to care for their customers. Vickie is an absolute delight, she always is knowledable and so full of life and passion for what she does. There is something about her that you just can't help but smile about. They have taken great care of my antique wedding ring from the 1920's. It needed some retipping and TLC. I got it back within a week looking as sparkly and beautiful as ever. I'm looking forward to getting my custom diamond band back this week from them. I have been working with Leslie and she is also wonderful. The Menagerie is a lifetime store, some where you can go and be treated like family and I look forward to that. read more

I don't know much about jewelry, but I do know good customer service and Vickie has it in spades. She is warm, genuine and knowledgeable; in short, everything you hope a small business owner would be. When our jewelry order went unexpectedly sideways, Vickie went to Herculean lengths to set things right, even though it wasn't her fault. Her attitude was incredible and proactive, and she has won a customer for life. This was the best customer service I've experience in recent memory...heck, maybe the best customer service I've ever had! It doesn't hurt that Menagerie carries a mix of modern and truly unique antique jewelry, with reasonable prices to boot. They even have large selection of china and crystal, if that's your thing. Visit Menagerie, give Vickie and her crew a chance to win you over. read more

Something seems to be getting lost in translation in Yelp's coverage here. The Menagerie is the best jewelry and finery retailer in Austin, period. Its owner, Vickie Roan has run the business for 20+ years with her daughters and a dedicated team of experts. Four years ago I bought a gorgeous vintage engagement ring there. She still remembers my name when I see her, and she always sends me handwritten Christmas cards. There are a few other excellent boutique jewelers in town. The common trait they share is sincerity. Sure, they would like to make a sale, but never without thoughtful consideration for my motive and my needs. The Menagerie's inventory probably favors value rather than the latest trends. It is more "classic" than contemporary, in my opinion (I'm straying far from my comfort zone with these assumptions). If their style isn't right for you, the people will point you in the right direction. read more

After looking online, at multiple shops in Austin and in San Antonio I bought an engagement ring at the Menagerie. They were able to procure multiple diamonds within the specs I provided within just days of my request days for me to check out. They were able to provide the exact diamond I'd been looking for within just 7 days of my initial meeting Vicki and Josh. They had the setting custom build based on my specs and they had very competitive pricing and EXECELLENT service. I wish I would have gone to them first. read more

The Menagerie practices personal service a a level few businesses achieve. No matter the request, large or small, whether a purchase or repair, no matter what price. I have purchased gifts ranging from graduation gifts to diamond rings there and no matter the cost, the item is unique, it is beautifully presented and wrapped. Vicki Roan and her staff are friendly attentive, and give their honest opinions. Kent Collins read more

Picking out an engagement ring turns out to be much more complicated than you think. I thought I would just walk in with an idea of what I want and walk out with a ring. Not the case. And in fact, it can be maddening trying to make heads or tails of all that's available. Vickie and her staff made the process not only easy, but also comfortable. She carefully listened to what we were looking for and helped steer me in the right direction. Over many visits to the store she showed me what was important and what wasn't. I left knowing not only that I got a great deal, but that I had the perfect ring. Thanks Vickie and team. You guys made a customer for life! And the ring looks amazing! read more

So close to Christmas last year, I thought I must be "mad" to suppose that any jewelry store could fulfill my fantasy to have a custom jewelry piece designed before the holiday. I went on Wednesday and apologetically asked if they might be able to help me with a huge favor. Owner Vickie Roan, said, "I love favors" and promptly got on the phone and made several inquiries and resolved my design issue in minutes. They had the jewelry made and delivered in two days. Today, I picked up my wife's very special gift. Everyone knows the quality of jewels, silver, and finery that the Menagerie offers, but few retail stores on earth, can deliver that level of service. I am a loyal fan for life. Lane Rockford Orsak Consultant | Author read more

The Menagerie is the perfect neighborhood small town jeweler with large city selection. Leslie and Vickie deliver one on one customer interaction that is lacking from so many places these days. My husband originally took me by the shop several years ago in search of an engagement ring. We spent many months looking for a unique vintage piece and Leslie worked with us patiently and diligently. She kept us informed of specific dealers coming in to the shop and over time we were able to find the perfect setting. Then she worked with my husband to select the right center diamond and finish off the final product. I didn't see it until he proposed and was blown away at how amazing it was. Even better than I could have imagined Post purchase they have retained their great service reputation with complimentary polishings from time to time, sizing help and even a stone replacement issue. I highly recommend this "gem" of a jeweler for anything and everything! read more

When it comes to selecting jewelry, Vickie at the Menagerie is fantastic to work with. With my engagement ring, I knew exactly what I wanted the ring to look like, and Vickie helped make that vision a reality perfectly. We recently went back to Vickie for wedding bands. I had been having trouble really finding what would go perfectly with my ring, and she immediately found exactly what I didn't even know I was looking for. She just has an eye for this sort of thing! Thank you so much Vickie! read more

I haven't given a review on Yelp since 2016 - so it says a lot that I'm writing this now. Vickie, Menagerie's owner, is amazing! She makes you feel like a friend in her home. This was the most fun jewelry experience I have ever had. I was looking for an eternity band for a special anniversary. I found exactly what I was looking for at a great value. To make sure she was for real, I went to a few other jewelry stores in town; they couldn't match her warmth or her price. Do yourself a favor and go to the Menagerie! read more

I've registered here for my bridal registry. They have the most precious, one of kind pieces. I didn't like any china sets in regular stores because they were all one pattern and too 'matchy'. Here I was able to mix and match to create my perfect china! The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful as well. They helped my finace (and all of my family) for hours! We found everything we wanted! This is store for upscale, designer china, silver and crystal. Plus they have some amazing jewelry! I wonder if I can add a few pieces to my registry... :) read more

The Menagerie has been our go to jeweler for over 20 years now. We bought our wedding bands there years ago and we continue to go back for all of our jewelry needs. They just recently repaired my wedding band and I was thrilled with the outcome! Their customer service is impeccable. As Austin continues to grow, I am so grateful for this Austin original! It is a true gem! From gifts, to jewelry, to wedding registrys , The Menagerie, is the place to go! read more

My fiancé and I were looking for something a little unique and non-traditional for her engagement ring. We had a loose idea of what we wanted in a ring. I contacted several other jewelers in the area and most were not interested or willing in procuring the gemstone (a Paraiba tourmaline) that we wanted to see. Though the Menagerie did not have one on site, Josh was able to procure several beautiful options in less than a week. Not only was Josh able to procure the type and size of gem we were interested in, he showed us several other options that we had not even considered before. Josh is visibly passionate about what he does, and made our experience unforgettable. He was patient and answered the many questions I had regarding the stone and setting. We will be back in the near future for our wedding bands as well as the long term for all of our other of our jewelry needs. read more

Vickie is a gem. She worked very closely with my fiance and I recently when we needed to re-set his grandmother's stone in order to make my engagement ring. Vickie listened to all of our questions and concerns, did a ton of research and guided us throughout the entire process. She is so vibrant and energetic and always welcomes us with open arms. Vickie and her wonderful team also made setting up our registry a fun experience! We are now in the process of having our bands made through her, and will be loyal customers for life. She is the best. read more

This year marked a significant birthday and I wanted to have a ring designed for the special day. I have always thought the Menagerie had beautiful jewelry and decided to talk to Josh Davenport and see what we could come with. I had something in mind so Josh and I began the process. He TRULY listened to everything I wanted in the ring and was unbelievably patient, paying close attention to every detail. We had a wonderful time. He was able to speak to my ideas and Bruce's engineering specifics. It is hard to find someone so versatile, patient and FUN to design with! The ring is spectacular! It exceeded all of our expectations. Josh created the most beautiful design with Bruce and I and made this a priceless and very memorable experience. We both highly recommend Josh Davenport and The Menagerie for uniquely custom made pieces that will thrill you each time you look at them. We could not be happier. Thank you Josh and Vickie! I don't review often, but my experience is so different from the existing review, I feel compelled. I have never experienced anyone being snobby or unhelpful. It has been quite the opposite. From the first time I went in a few months back to investigate china patterns, I was greeted cordially and a ton of time was devoted to answering my questions and helping direct my search. Sharon even gave me a great homework tip to make sure that I could figure out the style I would want. When I found patterns online that they didn't have in the store, Vickie ordered them in for me to see before determining my final registry. In contrast, Breed and Co. just said "we don't carry that" and had no follow-up comments or questions for me. read more

The best thing about The Menagerie is its top level customer service. I found an amazing and unique wedding ring among their great selection. They ordered and shipped the ring to my address in Philadelphia. The ring was too big and I felt badly having to go back to them to exchange it, but Leslie was so reassuring and on top of things. She re-ordered a smaller size and the Menagerie covered the shipping costs. Their main concern was getting me the right ring and making sure that I was completely satisfied! Because of this excellent customer service I decided to open a bridal registry there on my next visit to Austin several months later. Kelsey spent a lot of time with me and my mom to pick out the right dinnerware and we ended up with some really special things that you can't find at the big box stores. They gave us a bottle of champagne and celebrated with us. Every time someone bought a gift on the registry, I received a hand-written card in the mail with the item and the buyer's message. These personal touches go a long way for a great experience. I kept in contact with Kelsey by email afterwards to make changes and she was always very helpful. I did have some issues with the website, especially since they switched over their website during my engagement, but the staff was always helpful in sorting things out. I would definitely encourage other brides to consider adding a Menagerie registry because the customer service makes for a completely different experience and the unique and high-quality pieces you'll find make it worth it. read more

The Menagerie makes excellent engagement rings. The team Vickie and Josh can custom make an engagement ring in weeks and beat chain store prices. It might not look like much from the street, but they have endless settings and loose stones, and easy to work with. For my engagement ring they matched a family stone, got the platinum setting exactly like she wanted, and got it appraised for us. Keep Austin Weird support small business and go to The Menagerie. read more

My husband and I love the Menagerie. They have gorgeous jewelry and gifts. We took my engagement ring to them because we were unhappy with our original custom designer who wouldn't tweak my ring to our liking. Vicki assured me she could make the ring just as I wanted. We trusted her and just got the ring back - it is absolutely stunning and the ring I always wanted. We've been pleased with the Menagerie's drive to make us happy every step of the way. I highly recommend their services. read more

I have been a loyal customer of The Menagerie since I moved to Austin in 2008. It was recommended to me by a long time customer who has always trusted Vicki and her team with items much more valuable than mine. They have a great selection in the store, but what really has impressed me is how much time they will take with you to design something. They can really get you anything you want even if it is not something they currently carry and they will really work to make sure you are happy with the end result. I had my engagement and wedding rings done there and I was using old family stones. When I went to other stores, they just offered me already made settings that they could drop the stones into to. Vicki asked me what I wanted and we designed a ring from the ground up- just for me. I won't buy jewelry from other places anymore because their attention to detail and customer service is unparallelled. I highly recommend them and think you should give them a chance to win you over. It is a special store and Vicki is a special person. read more

Great store and friendly service. Not a better jeweler in town.

This is the most quaint, lovely, friendly and exceptionally inviting boutique that an Austin bride can register at (for specialty dishes and pieces)!! The customer service is exceptional! My daughter and I visited the Menagerie looking for an engagement ring for my son to give his fiance. Melanie helped us and was extraordinary. I can't say enough about her customer service skills. She was very attune to what we wanted and let us look and compare in a very relaxed atmosphere for as long as we needed. In the end she was able to get the ring we wanted on a very short notice. The store itself is very cute and loved the atmosphere. I would visit just to experience the fantastic service. read more

Can not say enough about the service, friendly and welcoming assistance at Menagerie. Many years ago I was under the assumption that the Menagerie was to expensive for me to step foot in. However, I have found that to not be true. They make a point to make you feel at home whether you are looking for a small $20 gift or picking out a graduation gift, everyday or tabletop gift, engagement ring or a special piece for a loved one. They truly carry things in all price ranges. Vickie and her staff are such a delight to work with and happy to educate you on all they carrie, from jewelry to china to antique pieces. They go out of their way to work with you on whatever it is you are looking for. If Vickie does not have it she actually goes the extra length to find it for you! She will work with you on pricing and has layaway as well. I am a customer for life and wouldn't go anywhere else!! read more
