Wonderful place to go for something different w a date or w a group of friends like we do when our friend comes to Albuquerque from Lubbock. The food was great, cocktails were great, service was great, and atmosphere was great. If they were still doing construction - we did not see it. We had a party of 6 and NO complaints ... we all just enjoyed ourselves from 3 cheese fondues to the dark chocolate fondue for dessert!!! 3.5 stars Came here last night with a reservation at 6 and the place wasn't even that crowded. We started with the spinach artichoke fondue (which came out with the cheese not all wah melted and on the somewhat warmish side). There were a few pieces of artichoke and spinach visible. It was alright, but a little heavy. It was about another hour before our main course arrived (around 7:45). We did custom: one for the grill with duck, salmon, and shrimp and the coq au vin with shrimp, chicken pot stickers, and mushroom ravioli. It came with an assortment of sauces. But you might have to use a timer to make sure everything is cooked properly. Cooking it with the broth was easy (and maybe a little bit soggy), but the potatoes still ended up being hard even after cooking for the recommended time. I had to be up early for work the next morning, so we requested to get our next course- dessert (which came around 8:15). The candybar had a huge glob of peanut butter and our server poured in the butterscotch Schnapps and Bailey's. The restaurant closed at 8:30 and by 8:45 we were still waiting on our check and for our server to come back to pour the remaining chocolate over the sweet goodies we had in the box. He said he would give us a few minutes to put our leftover fruit, Blondies, donut holes, pound cake, etc. and then be back to pour the chocolate over (by the way you can request any additional dippers you want for the fondues, such as more marshmallows or more pretzel bites for the cheese ag no additional cost). We didn't get water refills during our visit either. It was pricey with fondue for 2 around $32 each for the cheese and chocolate ones and each entree at $33. I was very pleasantly surprised at how good the gluten free opens were at The Melting Pot last night! We had an excellent waitress that even went so far as to make sure I got a great substitute for the teraki chicken with my meal! I've always had a fascination with this franchise since I was little...with that being said, we had date night here last night and were surprised at how expensive each a la carte pot was ~$32 per pot for two people! For example, the alpine cheese fondue pot was definitely enough cheese, but the dippers it came with were not that dazzling...we decided that Melting Pot is fun for dessert, but maybe not so much dinner. We all said no, then he proceeded to explain absolutely nothing about what decisions we were expected to make. About 20 minutes later, he came back to take our order. We didn't see the waiter very often, and he left us with empty beverages for a long time. The few times we did speak to us, he was remarkably rude. After giving him a far-too-large tip (hey, it was Christmas), I was shocked to see that they billed me nearly 20 dollars more than I had signed off for. Have been twice for their Thursday ladies night special. Slightly varied experiences. Loved loved the first time. The second time the fondue took forever to heat up. One of the burners was fine, clearly the other one was not but the waitress didn't seem to really care. By the time the cheese fondue got hot we had gone through the dippers since we were so hungry. The salad however was exceptional! My favorite course both times was the chocolate fondue- hands down! The rocky road was my favorite followed by the flaming turtle. Ambience was better first time around, the booth we were at felt private and cozy. Please take this as a cautionary note. Very recently I made a reservation through Open Table for The Melting Pot. I was a bit concerned because on its web site, it had "Excuse our dust" and that there was construction going on. Being concerned about how this might impact our dinner, I tried contacting them. (Open Table states to contact the restaurant directly to modify or change one's reservation). No one answered so I left a message, including the details and my phone number. I did not hear from them, so I called them again and left a message, including a notice of my cancellation. I cancelled since I was concerned about the construction and had received no informative reply. The day after the appointment I received a "no show" notice from Open Table! This after I had done all I could to cancel the reservation. Let this serve as a cautionary notice of the non-responsiveness of the The Melting Pot as well as about the unknown effects of the construction taking place. I'm not old enough to have been impressed with the Fondue Craze of the 60's & 70's but I'll be the first to admit that I jumped on the Fondue bandwagon a few decades ago when it, once again, became the OMG thing to do. I even outfitted my kitchen with enough Fondue pots for Meat, Cheese and Dessert. I know what you're thinking, "she's an overachiever" but I consider it as checking the box of "cover all the bases" and "always be prepared". Fast forward to now where I have saddled myself with the task of planning a 35th anniversary dinner for my husband and myself while trying to avoid our good ol' favorites that are always on standby. This was our first, and probably last, visit to The Melting Pot. First impression? I was made aware of the renovations when I made the reservation so that wasn't a surprise. I was glad that the hostess was able to roll herself out of bed to come into work. Her appearance matched the dingy half-done entrance. We saddled up to the bar to grab some pre-dinner cocktails. A Love Martini for me and an Old Fashioned for him. The drinks were good but Uber expensive! We were escorted to a small table for 2. It was kind of a nice cozy little corner except for the multiple employees walking past yelling CORNER! CORNER! CORNER! Every time they came our way to avoid collision with one another. As previously mentioned, we had never been here before and I was required to choose our menu before arriving. I don't know if this is required every time or if it was because of the close approximation to Valentines Day. Our waiter was kind enough but very little direction was given as to what to expect with our four course dinner. The bread and Veggie coarse was first with a yummy Hatch Green Chile cheese fondue. This was probably my favorite course of the night. Next was the salad course. The wedge salad was bland and boring. Nothing to write home about. Or in this case, nothing worth mentioning for this review. It was at this time that I had to remind our server that we were still waiting on the bottle of wine that was part of our chosen menu. We were halfway through the courses! Better chug that overpriced bottle of wine now! I was disappointed that the cheese fondue was removed when the salads came out. It would have been nice to finish the bread and cheese along with the Meat course. The third course was lots and lots of meat. The plate was loaded up with Ravioli, chicken, shrimp, teriyaki beef and pepper steak. The Fondue pot we chose was the mojo pot. It was a nice broth. A little salty for my taste but it got the job done. The pepper steak was the most abundant and definitely the cheapest cut of meat offered. It was tough and chewy and not appetizing at all. The grand finale of the meal was the chocolate Turtle flambé. Our server gave us a nice presentation of adding the pecans and setting the chocolate ablaze for visual effect. The marshmallows, brownies, krispy treats and fruit paired very nicely with the chocolate. Bottom line, for the $200+ we paid for a Valentines/Anniversary Date would have been better spent and enjoyed had we stuck with one of our good old ol' favorites. read more

Wow, things have really changed at this Melting Pot since we last dined here a few years ago. We decided to have the Big Night Out since we don't have a Melting Pot in Las Vegas, NV. The Alpine fondue cheese is still great and my favorite, however, they don't prepare it at the table anymore and just brought it out already mixed. The meat and seafood, and chocolate dessert fondue were still good. I think my disappointment was with the service and the server did not come around as often and attentive as I have experienced in the past at Melting Pots we have visited. We really enjoyed the Oktoberfest experience. I did not think I liked beer cheese, and I don't usually enjoy beer in general, but this meal changed my mind. Everything was amazing, and we were offered more of everything, but we didn't need more than the standard 4 courses. We didn't finish all of the dessert (dipping brownies in chocolate fondue was a bit much even though I love chocolate) but overall everything was stellar, and we even got some complimentary chocolate-covered strawberries because we are celebrating our anniversary. The dining room we were in was quiet and had low lighting, which gave a romantic vibe. The "lover's lane" area was undergoing renovations, so we'll definitely look for that sometime. My wife and I have been talking about trying out a dinner at Melting Pot for many years. This year my wife decided it was time and looked at booking a reservation during the Valentines Day holiday week. Unfortunately their prices were doubled during that time, so we had to wait until last night (2-19-24) to visit. We arrived for our 4:30 reservation a bit early. The tiny lobby's floor was damaged and the overhead lamp appeared to be broken. They made us wait to be seated until the reservation time even though there was nobody else waiting, and the restaurant was pretty empty. Our server was very nice and attentive, and that's why I'm giving them two stars instead of one. The menu was confusing, and the restaurant was very loud, so it was hard to concentrate enough to figure out what to order. We managed though, and ordered the four course meal experience. The first course was a pot of melted cheese with bread and veggies to dip. This seemed ok, but the cheese was delivered cold and it took awhile for it to heat at the table. The second course was a salad, which was also ok. The lettuce was not very fresh, and the dressing provided was very scant. Next came the meats, served with a side of disaster. One of the meats I received was tuna. The server warned me to not eat it raw. What she didn't say is that it was poison, and I should not have ate it at all. (BTW, boiling my meat isn't really my preparation of choice. Grilling seems so much better that I'm not sure why this place is popular and so expense?) Even though I cooked the tuna chunks for over five minutes in the boiling soup provided, and it was the consistency of pork when I ate it, I quickly knew eating it was a big mistake. Less than two hours later I was really sick, and I knew why. It is has been a long time since I've had food poisoning, but boy did I get it from this meal! Desert was some melted chocolate with various fruits and desert bars to dip. It was actually the best part of the meal. Dinner for two here with no alcohol was $170 with the tip included. As an added surprise, they added a 3% kitchen surcharge, "for our kitchen staff to provide a sustainable living wage." I think a restaurant that charges this much for a meal should be able to pay their kitchen staff without an extra charge. Maybe if they did, the staff would be more professional in their food handling, and I would not have been poisoned by the meal they provided. We will not be back. read more

We are out of town at a conference and decided to go to the melting pot for an experience. We knew it would cost more than other restaurants and that was OK. We happen to get a waiter. That was not doing so well last night. I don't get stressed about that becauseI don't know if he's just a bad waiter or if they don't have enough staff or whatever. When the bill came, there was a problem. I've never seen this in any other restaurant where they say that there's a 3% surcharge so the kitchen staff could make a good living. I believe in tipping and I tip pretty well for the most part and we could've opted out of paying the 3%. I didn't, however, I think it's interesting that they aren't able to pay their staff enough to make a decent living. We have been wanting to come here for ages, but they open at 4 on weekdays and 2 on Saturday afternoons. So we made it today to a late lunch. It is very pricy. Like $115 up for 2 people for 4 courses. There is a variety to choose from for each step of the meal. We had the Brie and bacon fondue to start with bread chunks and veggies. Next we shared a caprese salad and a California salad with fruits and nuts. (Naturally, as California is the Land of Fruits and Nuts!) Next we got this boiling pot of hot broth with a few different steak bites and veggies, including red onion, zucchini, broccoli, and some striped ravioli and pork dumplings. To wrap it up we got the chocolate marshmallow fondue with pound cake, rice crispy treats, sliced strawberries, pineapple, apple, and bananas. What a fun way to end the meal. The raspberry and the peach iced teas were good too. The kids liked their version of a Shirley Temple with blue soda, and a gummy shark on top, where you add grenadine syrup and maraschino cherries, do it looks like blood being added into the water! The service was absolutely awful, the food was disgusting and we weren't served our crap fondue until 815 and it was the worst. Unfortunately they don't care. I recommend doing the two person four course selection, which includes cheese fondue, salad, main course fondue, and chocolate fondue to finish! If you're in the mood for good chocolate and a side of TERRIBLE service, head right in over to the Melting Pot in Albuquerque. From the moment we walked in (to a mostly empty restaurant) at our reservation time, it was obvious most of the staff was far more concerned about hanging out with their friends than taking care of customers. A group of friends walked in at the same time as we did, drawing the attention of the wait staff (obviously their friends) away from their jobs. Once we were finally seated (about 15 min after our reservation), we ordered drinks and dessert. When we both ordered Dr Pepper, the waitress did not see fit to ask if Mr. Pibb was an acceptable substitute (the answer would have been no). We only ordered dessert which did come out reasonably quickly. However, we were provided with no napkins or utensils other than the skewers. This, of course, left us with quite the mess and the necessity of double-dipping (fortunately it was just me and my daughter). After quite a long interlude, the waitress finally returned to ask if we needed anything--napkins please!!! She returned with cocktail napkins--not quite up to the job at hand. Hmmm, feedback. It's our first time and probably last time, but we left with the plan to purchase a fondue set online to do it at home. It was worth the price to have the whole "first time" experience, but not enough to keep coming back. I'll do it at home now. How is The Melting Pot staying in business? Kind of like those paint and wine nights offered on Groupon. Do it once or twice, and never again or DIY at home. Our booth was dirty, crumbs and used napkin in the booth corner. We did the four course meal for two for $99. It is tons of food. For you, skip the salad course, so go ala carte, even if the salad is "free" when bundled, don't waste the stomach space. Cheese- Wisconsin cheddar. I really appreciated how the carrots were soft so easy to pierce! Charcuterie board (the Yelp check in)- good Salads - avoid the filler and calories, it was small. Meats- bigger two. The highlight of the meal. Excellent cuts of meats and seafood. Very satisfied. Dessert- candy bar. Delicious Service was good. Dinner took two hours. We were seated quickly since we had reservations. We were seated in an empty section & got our waters fairly quickly. Shortly after, another party was seated directly behind us. We were in a booth so I was pretty much back to back with someone. I didn't feel comfortable & asked to move. Our waiter was very nice & accommodating & moved us to another section. I also noticed a waiter taking orders with his mask down. I'm guessing they don't enforce the mask policy with their staff. It did take a while to get our food & drinks but they did get much busier as the night went on. The food was decent. I was expecting something amazing for the price point but it was just okay. The vegetables were very delicious though! We were looking forward to trying the dessert but ran out of time since we had somewhere to be after dinner. We always love going to the Melting Pot and have gone for special occasions many times, over the years. There were 3 in our party. Something we discovered fairly recently was that it works better to order 1 fewer meal than you have diners. Even with 2 meals shared between 3 people, we still left full and had leftovers to take home. We opted for the customized meal and were very happy. We ordered shrimp, tuna, chicken, steak, pot stickers, and duck. Since we were seated at a table with only one burner, we had to choose only one cheese fondue, one cooking style, and only one type of chocolate for dipping dessert morsels. That was my only complaint about the evening. There was plenty of room to accommodate us at another table with 2 burners, and I even inquired about it, but there was mild resistence and as we appeared to be their last guests, I just let it go. So I must say, the waitress was top-notch. Friendly, funny and efficient! The food was delicious! Good to pull out your timers on your phones so you'll know how long to cook your food! We did order an extra salad so we could each have one. The wedge salad and signature salad were both tasty. So the highlight is always dessert! We got the S'Mores Milk Chocolate. Great! I feel for The Melting Pot during these random pandemic shut downs. The owner is clearly doing what they need to do to keep a business running while trying to prepare for the worst again. That pass being given, there's things we saw last night on our date night that we weren't impressed with and we're fairly surprised by. Let's walk it back real quick... We've had two stellar, reach-for-the-stars, holy cow experiences with this restaurant in 2020. They got to experience two very brief moments of being open, so we took advantage of those when we could. The staff was amazing both times, the procedures in place for protective protocols were on point and Melting Pot was on their game with food and service. We couldn't have been more impressed--seriously. But the last time we had this spectacular experience was back in June and September of 2020. Which brings me to last night... it's March and this poor place has been shut down for indoor dining since about fall of last year. I made my reservations with them the moment they reopened for about 3 weeks after they reopened indoor dining. Unfortunately, this time was super deflating and didn't offer the grandeur that the other times had last year. Their menu is now limited and a required 4-course meal--which we were not made aware of during reservation placement. The menu is also limited in its selection and no longer offers a pick and choose protein option, and only has a few cheeses and a few chocolates. Overall, we weren't super impressed, but it is what it is, and a night out in 6 months is a night out regardless. We figured we'd get drinks--I mean it's drinks and that Love martini is a genuine favorite of mine! I rarely drink and only do so on special occasions, so I was really looking forward to this Love martini. Well, while tasty, the first clearly had only a splash of alcohol and the other had probably half the alcohol that they usually do. The consistency on drinks wasn't up to par, so we're not off to a great start. Our service also unfortunately lacked and our server was hard to track down in the times we needed them. They were unfamiliar with several common Melting Pot things, which was new for us to see because we've had a new server frequently (some on their first nights and still in training) and we've never experienced such a lost look in their eyes when we asked about a drinks or a food item. Our drinks remained empty frequently and while we usually grant a ton of grace for pandemic times, we couldn't quite understand what was going on last night. As we sat there, we didn't see that our server had other tables, we seemed to be the only one for them because another server was managing the tables around us. That being said, I was confused about their Covid protocols at this point because we had people sat within 2 feet of us on either side and the rest of the restaurant seemed to be open. At some point we both used the restrooms and while I can't speak for the male's side of things, the lady's room had white mess stains all over the floor, a flooded and clogged first toilet and an unattended candle (which is actually pretty unusual to see in a restaurant bathroom--to add: not docking on this, just noticing). The Melting Pot has been our number one spot for a date night (planned wildly in advance due to needing a sitter and our opposite work schedules), but last night probably changed our future plans for this once in a blue moon special night after what we experienced.
