    Onion rings

I live pretty close to the University Village and was curious about this restaurant that had popped up on Doordash out of nowhere - it seemed to have some pretty amazing on the stuff on the menu (who doesn't love a good patty melt?) I ordered the Hot Mess, Treatin Myself, some onion rings and a drink and pulled up to where Google Maps took me. Y'all, this is located inside a Denny's. Specifically a dark kitchen that resides within the Denny's. Granted, they do disclose that on the page, so kudos for the transparency! As for the food itself, it's definitely a cut above what I would expect to receive at a Denny's restaurant, especially for takeout. The Hot Mess was anything but, actually. Bread was toasted well, flavorful, not soggy, and the ingredients held together well for the entirety of the meal. The onion rings were alright. I definitely would've enjoyed them more with a bit of seasoning. The Treatin Myself sandwich, though? My goodness. That sandwich made me feel good things. 2 pound cake slices with cheesecake filling and strawberries? Decadent, light, fluffy, flavorful. Absolutely scrumptious, I wanted another right after finishing it. Everyone is entitled to their opinion about dark kitchens, but this one's food is pretty solid. I would not be opposed to ordering again just on the merit of the food from this visit, but your mileage may vary.

This is only half of a sandwich, to big to finish it.

Frozen 1/4 inch thick burgers. Almost no cheese whatsoever and we ordered a patty melt. Can't say I can recommend it.

Overpriced for what you get. It would be cheaper to buy your own ingredients and make it yourself.

Fabulous and affordable option when you want a sandwich…read more Service can be hit or miss and the person taking orders can seem incompetent/inconsiderate of the time. Ambiance is not the best, as the interior of the restaurant can feel dated--the art does not help--and the booths that comprise the bulk of the seating is private (which I love) but always dirty. Despite the service and ambiance leaving something to be desired, the lunch is great option in the downtown area. I do no recommend the breakfast--the potatoes lack flavor and many items are better made at home, imo. My go-to lunch options Grilled Smokey without onions- a fancy grilled cheese w tomato Tomato soup pairs very well with the grilled cheese Grill Smokey with bacon- solid but sometimes I don't want bacon/meat Tuna melt- so good and I tend to not like celery Black bean soup- solid Upgrade to the pesto pasta salad OR the loaded potato salad Don't recommend the pastrami sandwich-the meat was lowkey gross Baked good/desserts Princess Cake- I'm royalty and this cake hits the right notes and spots Sticky buns- get it Cinnamon bun- get it Cookies (molasses)- yummy and good texture Bagels- great quality bagels to add to a meal Baked breads (when in stock)- love fresh bread and recommend the sourdough

Definitely 5 stars for the breakfast Atmosphere inside is very welcoming and cute nothing fancy just an old school feel which I like Customer service 5 stars for sure. Employees have been friendly each time and they bring out food to you on the patio. Unfortunately the location is increasingly a problem at least while sitting outside. Lots of homeless people around some on drugs and some unstable. Last time I was there a homeless man threw an orange at someone who was eating next to me for no reason at all. It's not the first time something happens that feels unsafe and although there's not much the restaurant can do about it it does affect the ambience

We had such a great experience at Crust, Toast & Sandwich in Riverside!…read more We ordered the California Melt, but since we don't eat meat, we asked if they could substitute the turkey and avocado for tuna. We were a little hesitant to ask because not every place is willing to make custom substitutions, especially since they already have a cold tuna sandwich on the menu. We wanted a hot tuna melt, and they happily accommodated our request without any hesitation. That level of customer service really stood out. The sandwich was absolutely worth it--I would recommend it 100%! It had the perfect kick from the sriracha aioli, a generous amount of tuna, and the pickled onions added so much flavor. Everything came together perfectly. We also ordered the Basil Pomodoro after one of the staff members recommended it, mentioning that it's one of their most popular items. They definitely didn't steer us wrong! It was incredible, and honestly, I'd order it over and over again. The creamy stracciatella cheese (a lighter, creamier version of burrata) paired perfectly with the sundried tomatoes and basil. If we hadn't already ordered the California Melt, we probably would have gotten a second Basil Pomodoro because it was that good. For drinks, we tried the Iced Strawberry Matcha, which came with strawberry purée at the bottom and strawberry cold foam on top. I'd easily give it a 9/10--it was refreshing and delicious. We also had a regular coffee, and that was excellent as well. The staff were amazing from start to finish. They took the time to answer all of our questions, helped us decide what to order, and made us feel genuinely welcome. Great food, great drinks, and even better customer service. We'll definitely be back to try more of the menu!

My wife was craving a breakfast sandwich and this location came up on yelp. I believe this is still a new location, because this is the first time i am seeing it. I ordered the bacon and cheddar breakfast sandwich and added a sausage patty for more protein. The food was made fresh and got great reviews from my wife. The first small disappointment was finding out they don't offer mushrooms. As a big mushroom fan, especially on a hot sandwich, that was a bit of a letdown -- but not a deal breaker. I ordered the D'Loaded Cheese Steak, which honestly would've been perfect with mushrooms. When I opened it up, it looked absolutely delicious. The flavor definitely delivered -- I won't deny that at all. It was very tasty. My main issue was the texture and structure of the sandwich. It came out extremely hot and very wet. The bottom of the bread was completely soaked, which made it difficult to pick up without it falling apart. I just wish the bread had held up better so I could've enjoyed it without the mess. Overall, the flavor was great, but I hope they can improve the sandwich structure a bit. I'd be willing to give it another try.

(Was lobster on these sandwiches) Pros - Food was good. Fresh ingredients Potato salad was very good. Place was clean. Employees were friendly. Cons - Too expensive for what we got. We could've went to a good full service sit down restaurant for much less (tip included). Will we be back? I'd like to say yes but not at these prices. Also the 40 min drive makes it not worth it. I understand good food is not cheap but I'll stick to closer/cheaper sandwiche shops near me (Green Shack/Saverinos)
