I bought a 16 pound brisket. I asked them to trim it the way I wanted which was a 1/4 inch of fat left. They called me to let me know it was it. I showed up still wasn't trimmed. I feel like they rushed it and the results were less than impressive. They trimmed off all the fat on the bottom and left all the fat on top. What I should have done is cooked it fat side down and wrapped. But I normally don't have to when it is trimmed the way I like it. I will say I should have made some adjustments as well based on the situation. Meat was great, just could have used better trimming. read more

Such a great place to grab some amazing meat products. Their jerky sticks are so good and it's definitely worth a buy when you're heading on a roadtrip. I've had the opportunity to buy some of their sausages such as the weiswurst and the currywurst which definitely packs a punch of flavor. It definitely reminded me of eating theses sausages in Germany. It's hard to find these products anymore in Oregon and I'm so glad that the meatlocker makes these products so close to where I live. Picked up a few items the other day. As much as I wanted to love this place, I won't be going back. 1) Bought a tri-tip that I didn't know had a marinade in the vacuum sealed bag until I got home. Ok no problem - let's see what's in the marinade, "sugar, spices, MonoSodium Glutenate, smoke flavoring" This beautiful piece of beef was ruined from the get go. I refuse to waste meat, but I am disappointed at how the meat was artificially flavored. I get sick to my stomach thinking about the taste. Then I get even more upset thinking about the possibility that tri-tip might now be forever ruined for me. 2) They sell ground elk for $10.99/lb that's imported from farms in New Zealand. Didn't buy and won't buy. 3) They don't sell skirt steak. Why? This isn't a part of the cow that is used for anything else or can be cut any different way. read more

This place is awesome! I was searching Bend to find a good butcher shop and I found it! It shares a building with a Jimmy johns sandwich shop so I had some trepidation that it might be a related business that sold cold cuts or something. I was pleasantly surprised to discover the shop was completely unrelated, other than location. The staff was very friendly and helpful. She had great cooking recommendations for their products. We bought some smoked pork chops and they were amazing! They had great looking meets and at good prices. We will be back here many times! UPDATE: OK a few more trips here and this place is super awesome! The Ribeye and New York strip were great. We also got the scotch eggs and they were amazing! UPDATE: So I was picking up more of their delicious smoked pork chops for dinner the other day and bought a package of the Teriyaki sticks. They are SO unbelievably delicious. I offered to let my wife and son have a taste and they loved them so much I barely got any. read more

This place is a hidden gem. Walked in, ordered some of their beef jerky and meat sticks. Amazing! Full of flavor and delicious with a clean "unprocessed" taste. Great little place to buy all your meats. Locally sourced pork and they make all their own sausage. I LOVE their jalapeño cheddar sausage sticks-the perfect balance of spicy and cheesy! This place has some of the best meat I have ever worked with. I've been a high end catering chef and a wardroom officers mess cook and have worked with all sorts of different quality products. All my special orders are Phenomenal and are made available in short order. The front end is small but if I don't see it in the display a quick ask will produce it from the butcher in the back. The owner makes some of the best side pork I have ever had, if you are doing whole 30 ask him to quick smoke, slice, and freeze some for you. No cure with no nitrates or nitrites. In fact there is not one part of the pig I have been disappointed with from here. The beef brisket was mouth watering and fell apart amazing after smoking for 12 hours and 48 hours of dry rub. The ground beef is also super good too. The chicken they have available are better than what I grow. The beef meat sticks are also one of my go to snacks on any day, I suggest you don't buy these, you'll be addicted to the awesome and will leave none for me. This is no grocery store, if you want mediocre and high volume go to whole paycheck. If you want high quality, friendly service, and knowledgeable staff, this is your place. A little bit of planning goes a long way, but I have never been disappointed from shopping here. Thank you! read more

I just stop by the meat locker located in Bend Oregon. I walked in and told the clerk that I was new and have never been in the shop before and was comparing the meat quality to the other stores. I saw a ribeye steak that I wanted to try, but there was a large portion of fat on the end of the steak, so I ask him to trim off the fat. The reason I asked the trim off the fat, is because I did not want to pay for a piece of meat that had fat on it. So the clerk took the steak wait the steak and then went back and spoke with the owner. He came out to the front Cut the excess fat off and then charge to me for the full steak including the fact that was cut off. I paid the gentleman and then asked to speak with the owner. Explain that just because he trims the excess fat off doesn't mean that he's not going to charge me for it. I told him that that was unbelievable especially as a new customer and I would never be back or recommend his place of business. So I guess if you want to be overcharged this is the meat locker to go to. read more
