    Yum!

We absolutely LOVE The Meat Locker! It's become part of our Saturday ritual. Here's why: Price. For the same cost (if not often, cheaper) we can get fresh, local product. There's something amazing about cooking dinner which proteins you know are about as "straight to table" as possible. Love it. Service & Selection. Whether full of customers or just you, the service you'll get is always the same: fantastic and knowledgeable. They'll help you pick the perfect cut for whatever event or recipe you're cooking. They'll even help educate so I get to go home and look like a grill master every time. I also love the suggestions to try new things. On top our weekly chicken, ground beef, and pork chops, the jerky, bacon, and carne asada is to die for! Owners. The husband and wife owners are amazing. Always smiling. Always friendly. They've done a great job building a beautiful, minimalistic style and every time I walk in, it feels like a blast from the past. They really care. Make this your one and only meat place! You won't regret it.

Such a great place to grab some amazing meat products. Their jerky sticks are so good and it's definitely worth a buy when you're heading on a roadtrip. I've had the opportunity to buy some of their sausages such as the weiswurst and the currywurst which definitely packs a punch of flavor. It definitely reminded me of eating theses sausages in Germany. It's hard to find these products anymore in Oregon and I'm so glad that the meatlocker makes these products so close to where I live. I can't wait to try all their other products.

Storytime: my husband, tallest son, and future DIL were in Bend this weekend for a concert…read moreFriday/Saturday (WSMFP!) and on Sunday they were having trouble deciding where to go for a nice dinner. So much trouble that my men got hangry... naturally they called mom for assistance. Yelp led me to RBC, so I called to see if they could accommodate a last minute reservation. JoJo answered the phone and we laughed about how motherhood is never-ending (in a good way) and she managed to slot them into an immediate table. By the time they arrived, she had bread on the table and made them feel like VIPs (thank you lady!) Garrett came over as they were perusing the wine list and helped with selection (thank you sir!) & chatted with them for a good while. All three of them said it was the best meal they had on the trip, and my hubby told me this morning that he thinks it was the best restaurant he's ever been to & the most perfectly cooked steak! High praise indeed. They also shared (and loved) the escargot, salad with blue cheese, popovers, squid ink linguini, and the mixed grill. A lovely family-style experience. I was jealous from afar! Hubby has promised to take me back the next time we're in Bend (DMB?) and I am inordinately excited! Thanks again guys, you really turned their night around.

Our server was not personable at all, which was a bit uncomfortable at times. Inside is very chic and it felt like the right setting for an intimate birthday dinner. We started our meal with the hush puppies, and we each ordered a steak and side. I opted for the hangar steak while my partner went with the Kansas City, both of these cuts were new to us. The hangar steak was nice and tender with a meaty flavor. It was delicately topped with finishing salt and each bite was decadent. For our starter and sides, we both raved about the hush puppies and corn ribs - so creative! We'd skip the papas bravas next time - nothing special. I also ordered the cowboy butter but honestly the steak was plenty flavorful on its own. No enhancements needed. Overall, I'm glad that we got a unique steakhouse experience. RBC will nickle and dime you for everything on the table, which is understandable for the quality, but the service is so lackluster and stall. No birthday acknowledgement at the end either.

This is our main grocery store here in Bend. We can find most things. Only critiques are: 1. bulk area. The offerings are getting smaller and smaller. And there are never peanuts in the fresh peanut butter machine. Bulk is an easy way to reduce plastic consumption. By lessening bulk offerings I feel forced to buy plastic wrapped goods which is disappointing. This alone is making me consider going to Market of Choice instead which has the best bulk aisles I've seen in Bend. 2. There is no seating if you want to eat something you purchased at deli/cold case before shopping. Instead it's been taken over by self check out and curbside pick up orders. Please add at least a couple tables.

I had a ball! (Actually, quite a few :)…read more Quite a few years ago, I was on a motorcycle trip coming into Bend, and I saw their sign that said "mountain oysters." I had always wanted to try them, so I stopped in, and I've loved them ever since. They have the texture of chicken gizzards, and have kind of a liver-y taste, but not nearly as strong. It's hard to describe the flavor other than they are very good. I was passing through Bend, so I had to stop in again. This is a very down-to-earth place. Nothing fancy at all. They left the food speak for itself. My server was. Kenzie, and she was very friendly and helpful. They are more than just a steakhouse, they have a very large, varied menu The mountain oysters are normally an appetizer, but I had them as a full meal. I also had a side order of the coleslaw. To drink, I had a fruity lemonade. I don't remember what it was, but I do remember that it was very good, the fruit played well with the lemonade, and it was not too sweet. The mountain oysters were delicious, pounded thin, and not over breaded. They came with two dipping sauces, a Housemade barbecue sauce, and a jalapeño mustard. I loved the barbecue sauce, it was just a little bit sweet, and a little bit tangy. The jalapeño mustard, also very good, reminded me of a Dijon, and you could just taste the jalapeños. They didn't overpower the mustard. The coleslaw was also very good, it was not overdressed, and I'm not sure what the dressing was, but it was savory and just a little bit tangy. I took my dessert with me to go. I had the MarionBerry bread pudding. It was moist, and a little bit sweet, but not too sweet. It was an excellent bread pudding, and of course I forgot to take a photo. They were generous with the berries, and they really played against the bread pudding so well. It came with a caramel sauce which was very good, but I preferred the bread pudding without the caramel sauce, because I felt that the caramel sauce clashed with the berries a bit. For all I got, the price was very reasonable, and they do offer a military/veterans discount. I will be back the next time. I'm in town. Thanks
