This was our first time trying McBoodery and we specifically came for the Muffaletta-ish sandwich. It was so good but while there, Sarah introduced us to their zombies (a sort of brioche bao for all you Asian food lovers). The one we got was a Philly cheese steak zombie and it was really tasty! At the tail end of Isleton, where you expect to get bowled over with tumbleweeds, there's this gem of a place - the McBoodery. Recommended by a friend, I decided that my cronies and I would stop here to pick up lunch on our long ride and head over to the Hemly's to enjoy them with a nice crisp pint of cider. As soon as I walked in I was overcome with the aroma of fresh-baked bread - sending me back to a locked away memory of Walden New York in 1973 when I was five at a bakery my mom would take me to. When I regained my senses I ordered one of my favorite sandwiches, turkey avocado with the works on a croissant. The fellas got the tasty zombies (which I'll try soon enough) and after receiving our orders, decided to eat at a small park nearby as they were all hangry. I dove into my sandwich and it was one of the best turkey sandwiches I've ever had. The simple balance of fresh ingredients was genius, the combination of flavors was perfect, and I began to eat slower to enjoy every bite. We didn't make it to Hemly's due to heat and full bellies but that would have been the icing on the cake. This will be a destination for me, and I'll pair it with either the Mei Wah or Hemly's for the ultimate experience. Big cheers McBoodery! read more

Amazing sandwiches! Zombie style means something similar to a calzone but fluffier. We tried three types - the chicken (which was like a pizza pocket), the salami (which had a lot of meat and a yummy mayo), and the Turkey with cranberry (which went surprisingly well). I'm reluctant to leave this review since I don't want the prices to go up, but I think it's a great place and others should try it. 5 stars highly recommend. read more

Soooo good! We stopped here over the weekend on our way to Sacramento and decided to try one of each types of their zombies (stuffed brioche roll) and also got the potato salad. We shared with family so I only got to try the ham and cheese (yummy). My relative RAVED about the artichoke, spinach and cream cheese flavor and my boyfriend liked the BBQ one. The potato salad was great, too. Beyond the food, the folks who own the place are very nice! We will stop by again next time we are passing by for sure! read more

About a week ago my dad and I ate here. We both agreed that it was Awesome. I'm a local, sort of.. (Rio Vista) and can't believe it took so long for me to come try this place. My dad said his sandwich was ready good, I had the Pepperoni Zombie roll (imagine a homemade hot pocket but better). Literally the best Sandwich in the delta ! They bake their own bread and put so much love into making their Sandwiches. They have an amazing daily special that never disappoints. Very clean, healthy food, BUT...SADLY doesn't have GLUTEN FREE BREAD . I don't believe businesses are aware that MORE AND MORE people these days have Celiac Disease. I DO RECOMMEND it for others I made an error. I stated that they didn't have gluten free bread, but apparently I didn't notice that THEY DO ! This place is dangerous. The food is so good and creative, you want to eat there everyday to try one of their daily specials. I told the owners I am going to rename the deli McFattery. The homemade breads, freshly cut meats and cheeses and the special sauces they make for each sandwich will make you want to come back day after day. Their trademark Zombies are so great and creative such as the reuben zombies, peanut butter and chocolate zombie and even a bread pudding zombie. Of course I can't resist the giant homemade chocolate chip cookies and homemade brownies. One of my favorites is their special hummus, roasted vegetables hummus, garlic, basil and parmesan cheese, and other great flavors. Check their facebook for daily specials. First of all, The Mcboodery in Isleton is so easy to miss if your passing thru Isleton on main street. But my wife and I stopped in for lunch today and man, what a treat ! I ordered a club sandwich and it was the best club I've ever had. Sliced ham, turkey, bacon,lettuce and tomato on a warm croissant, it was awesome ! My wife had a roast beef and pepper jack on wheat and it was equally delicious. But it didn't surprise me cuz as soon as I walked into this tiny cafe type place I knew what we were in for. The menu was awesome with creative sandwiches, soups, salads, desserts, a awesome small list of ice cream, but then after we ordered I noticed these things they call Zombies. The girl described them was like a roll or bun with a variety of things baked into them. They sound incredible ! And the place s mm ells like food heaven inside. I didn to try the soups but judging by the smells coming from the kitchen, it has to be awesome. Today they had split pea, and tomato garlic. This tiny place has killer food written all over it. It's not a place that you walk into and get seated. There's no tables just a couple chairs to sit while you wait for your food. The place is about the size of a good size bedroom and that's it. There's baked goods everywhere fire sale and the walls have lists of all the great things they offer. The price was reasonable, parking is only the spots in front along the curb but if you know Isleton, then you know that you'll always be able to find a spot out front cuz it's such a sleepy little town. So all of us have our spots that are our favorites. So you understand what I mean when I say, as I was eating my sandwich today, I was getting more and more excited for the next visit. Every year in August I drive along the Sacramento River levee, to pick up some delicious peaches at an orchard in Brentwood. This year I looked for a good lunch place somewhere along the way, and found the McBoodery, just a little sandwich place with no seating. I ordered a Pastrami, and it was amazing. This place is a Delta jewel! Their daily sandwich specials are always delicious! Not sure how they come up with the combinations, but they are amazing! They also offer pasta salads, soup, numerous types of homemade jerky and more! The place is super clean and they keep their web site up dated, two things most Delta establishments fail at. The owners and staff are super friendly. We've been coming here at least weekly since they opened their doors a little over a year ago and I look forward to every visit. Try The McBoodery.
