Fun place in historic Locke. Great steaks, lots of adult and non alcoholic beverages. Nostalgic. Friendly service.

Wasn't thrilled about the name of the place, and was quickly told that they leave the original name, but they now are called Al's Place. Why not make it official. We stopped here to grab a bite to eat and had taken the more scenic route on the way home. Unfortunately, this was the only place that was open in the very small little "town "of Locke. It's definitely a local watering hole, and the bar was filled with intoxicated locals. We were showing a table in the back towards the "restaurant " Calling at a restaurant is a very loose term. Locals definitely stop here for a bite to eat. From where we were seated, I could tell that they have a pseudo makeshift kitchen of sorts. I have to say the whole experience was just weird. We ordered the potato skins as an appetizer. They were over fried, underwhelming, and just sad. We had ordered a burger and fries, and the fish and chips. I took a bite of the burger and definitely was glad that I had not ordered it. My fish and chips was a mix of fish with some fried shrimp, and I substituted onion rings for french fries. Everything was heavily fried, very greasy, and I'd help for some tartar sauce and some malt vinegar. There are no words about the tartar sauce, other than just don't. And the malt vinegar was nonexistent. I'm a firm believer that foods not need to be covered in sauces, etc. to enjoy them, they should be enjoyable on their own, and the sauce are used to enhance what's there. This was just a greasy mess. That was a pricey lesson. I didn't mind the shrimp, but the fish was definitely not edible. It just had a very fishy frozen old taste to it. The dollop of coleslaw or whatever that was I'm a plate was bad also. The waitress pretty much had taken our order, brought us our drinks, the food, and that was about it. We didn't see her until she wanted us to pay for the check. Service was nonexistent, and I wish the food had been. Definitely not a place that I will be returning to. Sad place. Sad name. And sad food.

Fun place in this little funky town on the Delta. Our server/part-time bartender was amazing. She was funny, attentive and made a great dirty martini. The kitchen stuff was however quite the opposite. Hubby's medium-rare steak was more of a medium, my medium was well done to the point I had to return it. More of a hockey puck than a steak. Funniest part was I ordered it with onion ring in the kitchen staff dropped off this tiny steak on a large plate and walked away. When they finally brought out the correctly cooked steak with the onion rings, the rings were slightly burnt. To their credit, our friends onion rings were cooked Well. There was six of us and the group was laughing that the Yelp reviewer's order was the one with the most errors. Overall the fun place with good drinks and adequate selection of beers, with a doll and inconsistent kitchen.

A classic "dive-bar" spot but with friendly staff, delicious food and decor with a vibe. (Off menu garlic tots!) We also enjoyed walking the small main street area for the history and stores.

This unique spot is worth going to with great service and good food. A bar atmosphere with restaurant seating in the back. The place was filled with tourist out for a short drive from Sacramento area, MC riders, and locals. We tried the pulled pork and steak sandwich with fries. Both were good. The steak is not sliced up it's a STEAK with bread. The fries were crispy. The old fashioned was well made and service at the bar was fantastic.

After my dental appointment I decided to have lunch here. Pesto pasta soooo yummy! PBR on tap and great service at the bar. This is a historic place worth visiting.

Bowl of beef stew. Nice and hearty and plenty of leftovers.

Weekday lunch with the kiddos. We didn't leave hungry and had tons of leftovers. Beef stew bowl was amazing. Never can go wrong with steak sandwiches and pull pork sandwiches. Peanut butter and jam with bread. If you know, you know.

While u might think so, this is not the only place to eat in little Locke. There is another place at the end of main street. Food & prices are alright but its mostly a bar

Love Al's. One of the best watering holes on the Delta. Great vibe, and place to meet with friends for food & drinks.

Neat little hole in the wall spot. You can tell there was a lot of history in the if only the walls could talk! The food was good and the portions were huge! Our server/bartender was friendly and definitely was getting her hustle on! From the bar seating, I caught a glimpse of the cook handling business! Our food came out fresh, hot and had a home comfort feel to it

Plated $48!ribeye about 50% grizzle and fat.

We come back often to Al's for the authentic vibe. However, tonight was a disappointment. I ordered the $48 'Ribeye' - shown in quotes because how can a ribeye be 50% fat? We courteously showed the fat to the server, who apologized took 50% off the steak ($24). Hmmm.

The walls are covered in neon signs that highlight the history of Al's.

If you have never been and want to try out a place that is out of the ordinary, Al the Wop's is a must. Great bar and grill with a relaxing vibe. Al's is located in the historical Chinese immigrant town of Locke, CA. Locke's Main St. is frozen in time with a handful of shops and a museum celebrating its Chinese heritage. The walls and ceilings of Al's are covered in history. Very popular with people traveling the Delta and the locals of the area. The bartenders, and cooks are awesome. They know their drinks and food. All of which are excellent. Over the years I have tried everything on the menu and found all the dishes are delicious. Very colorful and a great place for any age. I usually don't give 5 stars, but this place has earned it.

We were out for a drive along the Delta and wanted to try this place. Took a little bit to find it. Parking was easy on the street. The menu is nothing to write home about many of the items were not available any longer. They were out of french fries. I ordered the club sandwich, which had only halfway cooked bacon and two slices of turkey on the whole sandwich. It also held the tough end of a piece of lettuce. It was a 43 minute wait from order time to delivery Mary (the waitress) was a very kind and nice lady, but I think she forgot to turn in our order. My husband had the pulled pork sandwich on special with onion rings. The only thing you could taste was the barbecue sauce. It is a dive bar ambience, but the bartender was a funny man. We may go back for a second chance.

    Fish tacos are the bomb!!!!!

When you turn into Locke rd, off of River. Continue on locke rd. In the back there is a parking lot. If your lucky you can find a spot in front of Al's on main st. Or along the river rd.

Is Al's open at al during the Pandemic?

Have been open 7 days a week for months...not sure why Yelp is still posting the oldest least accurate info.

We came here for lunch to celebrate my father's birthday and everyone loved it. Each meal was loved by the person who ordered it and by the people who sampled it. My father, sister and niece ordered a steak sandwich. This looked amazing and was the loved by them. My uncle ordered a linguica sandwich and he and my father shared sandwiches. They were smart to do that so they can satisfy their tastebuds with 2 great flavors. My nephew ordered a hamburger. The size of this patty was huge and the meat flavor was fresh and definitely of good quality. My brother in law got a cheesesteak and I got a French dip. The meat on our sandwiches was so tender and melted in our mouth! The meat had no gristle and again of good quality. As a side to our sandwiches some of us chose Portuguese beans which I loved. I want to go back and order this to go one day because I can imagine eating cornbread with it at home while relaxing on a rainy day. Others ordered onion rings which were hand dipped and crispy wonderful rings of pleasure! We also had fried pickles. This isn't something I would ever think about ordering, however from this place I definitely would order again. They must have been hand dipped also. They were so good and addicting. The service here was the best I've experienced in a long time. We all enjoyed our waitress and hope to have her again when we return. (Because we all decided this would be a place we frequent often!) The prices were good. A bit more than a usual sandwich/lunch place but you get what you pay for and we were happy to pay what we did for our meal. I'm not sure what the dinner menu is like. I am looking forward to returning for dinner. It's got to be amazing if our lunch was so good. We will be back for our next family celebration! I will be back before that though. I can't stop thinking about it so I already know I'll be back soon.

There is both indoor and outdoor seating. We chose to sit inside, and the indoor space is beautifully done with vaulted wood ceilings, exposed beams, warm lighting, and comfortable cushioned seating that makes it easy to settle in. The chairs were genuinely comfortable, which is not always a given. From what we could see, the outdoor seating looks equally inviting, especially with the string lights, open views, and waterfront setting. I can imagine it being especially nice at sunset or on a warm evening. We started with potstickers that tasted homemade and were excellent. They came out hot with a flavorful dipping sauce and disappeared quickly. For drinks, my partner ordered a lemon drop that was bright and well balanced. I asked for a whiskey sour, which wasn't on the menu, but they were happy to make one for me. It was decent, though not as memorable as the lemon drop. For dinner, we ordered General Tso's chicken, snow pea chicken, and rice. Both dishes were outstanding. The General Tso's sauce was perfectly executed, flavorful without being overly sweet, and the chicken was tender with a crisp coating. Even the broccoli was cooked just right, still slightly crunchy but fully done. The snow pea chicken had a lighter, savory sauce and was equally well prepared. Service was attentive throughout the evening. Our drinks were refreshed promptly, the food came out in good time, and a woman who appeared to be one of the partners stopped by our table to check on us personally. She was warm and engaging and mentioned they serve the best Chinese food in the Sacramento and Delta region. After the meal we had, that claim felt justified. Even the restrooms were clean and thoughtfully maintained, which is always a good sign. Between the quality of the food, the comfortable setting, and the inviting Delta atmosphere, this is absolutely a place we would return to. We don't give out five stars lightly, but this one earned it.

Ok, its really just me but I found this little hidden gem tucked away in Lodi. I ordered the cheeseburger with fries and a coke. The hubby ordered the chicken sandwich and fries. Hands down one of the best burgers I ever had. It was seasoned and cooked perfectly. I asked for some jalepenos and added to my burger for a little spice. The patty was thick and juicy. Cant go wrong here. It was so good that a week later I was back and ordered the same thing. As a foodie, of course I tried my husbands chicken sandwich and it did not disappoint. It was not dry and it was well seasoned. I'm a southern girl so proper seasoning is key. Ambiance: Loved the ambiance at the Brick House. A cross between Cheers and old school Italian. It was clean, well decorated and nicely located in the charm of downtown Lodi. Service: The service was really good. Both times I went my server was Nathan. He was friendly, knowledgable and helpful. We chatted for quite a while as we arrived shortly after they opened and before the crowd started to arrive. I made a reservation inquiry for my birthday at exactly 5:00 PM on Saturday, April 11, for a party…read moreof two. I was told the earliest available reservation was 7:45 PM. I then asked if there was any chance of being seated sooner as a walk-in, and Aubrey told me they had room for two at a table in the bar area. I specifically asked whether it was an actual table where we could comfortably order food, because I did not want to be stuck at some tiny corner setup where only one plate could fit. I also made it clear that it was my birthday and that I wanted something a little more formal and comfortable. I was told it would be in the front by the bar, not shoved in a corner, though it could be a little crowded if people were in the waiting area. When we arrived, the first issue was parking. For a first-time guest, parking was unnecessarily difficult to figure out, especially during a rainstorm. Since the restaurant is set up like a small house, it was not obvious where to park, and there was no clear sign letting us know there was parking around the back. Once we walked in, I immediately saw the table that had been described to us. It was right near the bar against the wall, and it was much smaller and more awkward than I had been led to believe. My girlfriend was wearing a dress, and because it was such a high table, it made it uncomfortable for her to sit naturally and comfortably. As soon as we sat down, I looked at the table and asked if we were really going to be able to order multiple items and eat comfortably there. I was told they would "pace it" and "make it work." That should have been the warning sign right there. We started with two ice waters, and even that nearly filled the table. They brought a pitcher and poured the water into the glasses. I asked for a separate cup of ice, and because there was so little room on the table, I had to ask the waiter to take the glass back and pour it for me so I would not spill everything. That is how cramped this setup was. We ordered the chicken breast special and a half dozen oysters. First came the garlic bread, and now we had bread, butter, two waters, silverware everywhere, and barely any room left. Then the oysters arrived, and everything had to be shifted around just to make it fit. At that point, the table had bread, oysters, hot sauce, waters, and multiple pieces of silverware for each guest, and it felt like one wrong move would send a glass to the floor. After we finished the oysters and bread, they cleared the table and brought out our entrée. We ordered the shareable chicken breast after I specifically asked whether it would be enough food for both of us. The waiter said it should be. In reality, it was about four small pieces of chicken once cut, three asparagus spears, and two very small scoops of mashed potatoes. For the price, it was honestly disappointing. I cannot remember the last time I paid that much at a nicer restaurant and still left hungry. What made it worse was that they knew it was my birthday and did absolutely nothing to acknowledge it. No small dessert, no candle, no gesture, nothing. Ironically, the only people who made the night feel special were another couple who had apparently been dining there for years. They overheard us mention it was my birthday and kindly bought us two sparkling wines. That was thoughtful, but it also added even more clutter to an already ridiculously tiny table. The service overall was underwhelming. We were barely checked on, and the whole experience felt awkward. The hostess kept staring at us throughout the meal, and at one point, she rolled her eyes when she went to take the Tabasco sauce, and we told her we still needed it for the chicken. For the prices Boulevard Bistro charges, I expected much better service, better communication, and a much more comfortable dining experience. Instead, the whole night felt misleading, cramped, and disappointing. I will not be coming back.
