Most of the residents and staff are very friendly and interesting - we have enjoyable conversations and interactions every time we visit. My father enjoys the exercise classes, meetings, and meals in the dining room and with various groups. The food service is offered in a grill setting, carry out, and also a fine dining room which offers truly delicious meals. The facility is nicely sited within a neighborhood and seems the right size to our family - not too large and not too small. His apartment is spacious, comfortable and the right size for him. My father was initially against moving out of his home where he has lived well over have his life but is now so happy, busy, and engaged every day. He had to move into the nursing care for a few months for a severe wound to heal and has now successfully moved back into his independent living apartment.

The staff are caring, helpful, kind and generous with their time. The facilities are lovely - and I feel welcome every time I visit. They all go overboard to assist visitors and residents alike. Everyone seems genuinely comfortable and happy. The food offerings are abundant and deliciously prepared. There are options to dine in a casual 24-hour available cafe as well as a lovely dining room with excellent food. The staff is helpful and I've always them treat everyone with respect, kindness and and are willing to help with a smile and go the extra mile. There is every amenity possible, a broad array of "classes", beautiful choices in housing, swimming pool, gift shop, salon services, movie "theatre", game room, and so much more. The gorgeous art that covers the hallways are created by the residents who are working and living artists who are able to feature their work of aa monthly reception. I could go on and on but I'll leave it here. Go see for yourself..and it's a "forever home". As you need more services, they are available, so no need to move to another "home" to receive the medical services you require. It's a wonderful place.

They are always willing to lend a helping hand when we need it. The facility does offer free parking. Visitors must check in and check out at the front desk on every visit. I do want to mention that on occasions, the staff does take cruel treatment from some patients, so be kind, as they are there to take care of your loved ones.

Victorine, Quincy, Annie, Ngozi and several others were consistently kind, attentive, and compassionate -- they're the ones who helped make a tough situation more bearable. We actually returned for a second stay mainly because we trusted the care provided by these CNAs. There were also a few nurses, especially those on the late-night shift, who clearly had our loved one's best interests at heart and provided excellent care. The doctor wasn't particularly warm or approachable, but when I raised concerns about medications (through the nurses), he usually responded and tried to address them. Unfortunately, therapy was the most disappointing part of the experience. I had to be very vocal to get my loved one the therapy they needed, and it felt like there was little initiative or follow-through from the therapy team. Basic equipment like gait belts seemed unfamiliar to them, and we were pushed toward using a Hoyer lift rather than working toward the mobility goals we had set. Another concern was cleanliness -- not once did I see anyone doing thorough cleaning. For a medical facility, that was troubling and made us uneasy about infection control.

Vitality abounds in a community designed for both wellness and social engagement. Daily activities include exercise classes and thoughtfully-planned events including guest presentations/performances, current events, documentary discussions, travel talks, board/card games and more. The inviting smells coming from Trulee's kitchen permeate the second-floor dining center. Nutritious meals are served with a culinary flair, enhanced by the company, smiles and laughter of my new friends. As a spirited woman of 78, I continue to celebrate my 21st birthday. I recall over dinner the other evening asking my companions, "What is the secret of longevity?" One response was "attitude," another said, "happiness," the third said "thinking positively." There you have it! I'm surrounded by people who love life and continue to live life well. Genuine caring is demonstrated regularly by both administrative and medical staff. But also by many more staff members who treated me with absolute disdain, disrespect and derision. They openly laughed at my urine incontinence( Fumie) and were very put out if I wet the bed because my briefs couldn't hold the copious amounts of urine that I expel in my sleep so she double diapered me which does nothing for trapping urine, but it does cause skin breakdown from the plastic used in manufacturing incontinence briefs and diapers interacting with urine. I almost got bedsores from this inhumane practice. Lastly, I'm a diabetic and they do not offer a diabetic menu to keep your sugars in line. How can I get better like that?? I asked several time but then just ordered food in from local restaurants but that's pricey Bring your own pillow and blanket as they have none. The towels are barely recognizable as they are so worn and threadbare. It's a relief to be out of there even though I had to transfer to the hospital in order to leave. I do not recommend you leaving a family member there.

Dear staff of Aperion Care Evanston:…read more I can't thank you enough for the way you care for my mother --------- On behalf of my siblings and family, THANK YOU!.. I Hope today you find this letter to be the opposite of other letters you may have received (negative letters if any) and this letter fills the heart. The sign in front of your building states "Hero's work here", so true! Heroes whose names are Takalra, Joe , Daisy, Jessica, Kristen, Veronica and Lucero and I'm sure I'm missing others, please accept my heartful apology! My mother has Parkinson's; a horrible disease. She has been in and out of rehab centers for the last 10 years (7 centers to be exact). When mom's not at a center, my siblings and I care for her. So we understand the demands of hard work placed on care takers and facilities such as yours. That you care for 5, 10, 15 patients at once is admirable. With that said, I'd like to take this opportunity to express appreciation and sincere thanks for the tremendous quality of care you've provided for mom and the many others at your facility. You always find creative solutions on bringing joy to the residents. From corn-hole bean toss to face mask painting or just creating an environment of excitement for a holiday such as Halloween, you keep things fun filled and entertaining. Takalra Overton and Jessica Grant you are mom's favorite and my family's personal hero (other than our look alike niece Kirsten with that professional answering voice) From teaching her how to connect her phone or learning to use a new one for an hour (Jess she is still lost, will get there one day) or Takalra scheduling our visits or just looking for a bag that was misplaced, no request is too small or big. You are always up for the favor. Aperion is so fortunate to have a hero's with your qualities on their team. Thank you for giving Mom your best. We can tell what you do comes from the heart. Daisy Altamirano, thanks for helping me make the right choice without even visiting Aperion due to Covid 19. The drive from the south side of Chicago to the north side is totally worth it and it happened because you assured me a difference. Again Thank you creating the WOW factor within me and my family.
