This is where my mother stayed. Best place on many levels. They have a controlled environment on how people can come and go. I liked it and when Covid hit, I know their place was locked up tight. No issues.  Central Baptist Village is Medicare approved (something we needed since cost was an issue for us) AND has all the levels of care in their facility (something else that is important, as moving from hospital to rehab is more and more traumatic as they get older), from senior living, assisted living, to full nursing care living. read more

Before today I would have given 5 stars but recent events led me to write this review. My loved one was a resident and I was very impressed with her care here. She was recently sent to hospital and denied re-admission to CBV. This caused us to scramble last minute trying to find another facility. When we called to question this decision we were referred to someone in marketing, Megan. Megan was beyond rude and unhelpful. She couldn't tell me why my LO was denied re-admission and also wouldn't give me access to the clinical team. I reached out to Jazmine (always amazing and helpful) in social work and she gave me the number to contact one of the nursing directors. I've yet to hear back. I have filed complaints with the state and the ombudsman program. There are proper protocols to follow in cases like this and they cannot refuse to give a clinical reason for denial. Hopefully this helps other families. I would avoid this facility as patient care is not the priority as much as their reimbursement is. That is the only possibility for reason of denial as they could not or would not give us a clinical reason. read more

They told us to go to the hospital for tests (couple days). Then notified us we couldn't return. Went to New Summit in Arlington Heights. What an improvement. Sometimes bad things happen for a good reason. Everything is better. read more

My mom broke her hip and shoulder and was sent there for rehab. The nurses and aids were so wonderful to her. She absolutely loved each and every one of them. After her 4th week there she became so anemic she had to leave to be hospitalized for blood transfusions. When we called administration to let them know when we were coming back they told us they had no bed for her. No real explanation just sorry no room. My poor mom was broken hearted she loved it there. My family and I were so disappointed on how they handled this. Administration seems to have no disregard for patients feelings. I guess bottom line money. It's a shame. read more

This review is based on initial telephonic contact with the community. On 1/24/2025 I contacted Central Baptist Village to inquire about memory care availability for a loved one. I spoke with someone there on 1/25/2025. By way of background, over the past few years, I have toured at least a dozen communities, and have contacted many more, to inquire about availability and pricing for my loved one. Typically, if there is availability, the community will provide monthly pricing and offer to schedule a tour. It is a very brief conversation. I have NEVER before experienced the interrogation and SCREENING I encountered when I contacted Central Baptist Village. I was told, one had to have a "net worth of $400,000 to LOOK INTO THE COMMUNITY." I was shocked by this purported "criteria" as I have never heard of such WHEN MAKING INITIAL INQUIRY about availability and pricing. I found this to be off-putting and offensive. I cry foul! I was no longer interested in this community for my loved one. But, that was the desired outcome, right? Delving into one's finances, or ability to pay, if any will, come later in the process, typically at contract signing. I conclude this was used as a pre-screening tool to weed out those "undesirable" for this purportedly FAITH-BASED community. Are all inquiries screened in this manner, I wonder? read more

My grandfather is a resident at Central Baptist Village and I wanted to take the time to write a review for those questioning this facility as an option for their loved one. I work in healthcare and have previous experience working in a skilled nursing facility. This facility is unique in so many positive ways. Nursing homes typically have a bad reputation. They are caring for the elderly with complex care needs. Central Baptist Village has proved to exceed my expectations as they continue to provide excellent care for my grandfather. We had previously had him at another facility before transitioning his care to CBV and these facilities are night and day. Environment: The environment is inviting from the moment you walk in the door. On the weekends, it is not uncommon to see families everywhere in the common areas spending time with their loved ones. It is refreshing to see. At his previous facility, he was often alone in his room and now can be found in one of the many activity rooms. Staff: They always continue to go above and beyond for my grandfather. They always provide the best care for him. Staff make it a point to get to know him and my family. If we are taking him out for the day, they always make sure he is ready to go and think of all the extra supplies that come along with a day trip. My family can sleep at night knowing the staff have his best interest in mind. The ancillary staff (activities, social work, PT/OT) are always encouraging him to participate in activities with other residents and he is truly never alone in his room thanks to them. From my own experience in health care, these are two very important characteristics of a great facility. My mother who recently passed away spent about 7 years as a resident of Central Baptist Village. First in the Terrace for those with mid stage Alzheimer's and then in the Skilled Nursing Pavilion for those with late stage Alzheimer's. In the Terrace the residents have their own room while in the Pavilion they share a room. There are plenty of activities and the staff does a great job trying to keep everyone involved. Deciding on finding a place for your loved one when Alzheimer's starts to take its toll is one of the toughest things to do but the people at Central Baptist have eased our burden by taking great care of my mother. They have always been profession and personable and when we came to visit we were greeted by name and treated like family. When issues did arrive they were handled quickly and the follow up was continuous. One thing to consider when finding a place for your loved one is what happens should they outlive their money. Central Baptist kept my mother once she ran out of money and made sure they helped me every step of the way to make sure the Medicaid process was done correctly and once she was approved there was no impact on her care. I can't stress enough how their help through this time eased my mind. It takes a special person to care for those with Alzheimer's and Central Baptist has done a great job finding employees who care and do their best in a tough situation. Even in her last days they would have my mom dressed and at the table, dining room, or one of the activities even if she no longer participated. Not once in any of my visits did I find her in bed or being neglected. That became her second family and for that I will always be grateful. read more

My mother was a resident at Central Baptist Village (CBV) for over five years. When it became apparent that it would not be safe for her to live at home any more we began a search for a facility with a continuum of care knowing that because of her diagnosis of dementia, eventually she would require skilled nursing. Initially she lived in The Terrace, the memory care wing where each resident has their own apartment in addition to the common areas like lounges and the dining room. Residents receive assistance as needed. The Certified Nursing Assistants help the residents with daily skills. Nurses are available around the clock to administer medication and monitor residents as needed. Activities staff provide a variety of daily activities that engage all residents no matter their level of functioning. CBV has a Retirement Area for residents who are still independent where Resident Assistants are available to help as needed. Finally, there is the skilled nursing area called Nursing Pavilion. The residents here require assistance with most or all activities of daily living. My personal experience is that there must be a very careful employee selection process because the staff here are exceptionally professional, competent, compassionate and friendly. They are very receptive to family feedback and truly work as a team to provide individualized care. On the Pavilion the residents have an Individual Care Plan which is revised as needed with a formal Care Plan meeting every three months. Finding a place to care for mom or dad is a stressful process. My mother actually preselected Central Baptist Village because her own mother had lived there fifteen years before. (Grandma chose CBV because it was near mom's house and she wanted it to be convenient.) Mom was impressed with the staff and the care they gave her mother. Her mom was happy at CBV so mom said that if ever the day came where she could no longer live at home she wanted to live at CBV. Even so, when the time came we wanted to make sure that Mom received the very best of care. We did our research and picked the five top rated retirement homes with a continuum of services in the Chicago area. We visited the other 4 but determined CBV to be the number 1 choice. We were a little concerned that given the name there would be an emphasis on that religion but that is not the case at all. In fact, the residents here represent many religions and the services seem to be non-denominational. In addition, visiting priests from local Catholic Churches administer mass once a week and communion on Sundays. In 2016 CBV was named by the Chicago Tribune as one of the top workplaces for the third year in a row. That tells me that the employees are happy working here and if they are happy, they are going to stay. Continuity is so important in the care of residents with dementia. Be sure you visit several facilities but make sure CBV is one of them. If you happen to see a family member ask them what they like or don't like about CBV. I find other family members to be friendly and open too. read more

This review and the one star are based exclusively on the application process and the lack of transparency and honesty in that process, and I am posting it here as my first ever yelp review (or any online review, for that matter) as warning to other adult children of seniors who are searching for a community for their parent(s). I wish I had seen a review like this before we looked at Central Baptist - it would have saved me several days of my time. The community itself seems very nice and the staff seem very professional. It was so nice that my siblings and myself became very interested in looking at it seriously as an option for our mother. We were very transparent and clear about our financial situation and the way our finances are structured, and we were assured that we met the general financial criteria for CBV. After spending many hours completing the application and gathering and submitting all of the supporting documentation (financial as well as medical/health records), we were told that additional documentation would be required. There was a tax issue from 15 years ago, related to our father (who has been deceased for over 10 years...), and CBV wanted proof that this issue was resolved. Anyone who has tried to get this sort of old paperwork from the IRS knows that at least a full day of work is lost trying to get in touch with someone who can be helpful. And to be clear, our mother's finances as well as the finances and credit of her three adult children, who would be providing the majority of funding for her care, are in very good order. Nevertheless, after obtaining and providing all additional documentation, our application was rejected on a financial basis. In addition, when we asked if we could sit down with someone to discuss our application (and understand why it was denied so we would be more prepared during the application process at the next community), we were denied that request. So, this is a warning to other adult children out there who are trying to help a parent with this complex process. If your parent is very affluent and their finances are structured in a very simple manner, you should have no problem at CBV. It is not clear exactly how affluent they need to be, however, due to a lack of transparency and honesty on the part of CBV staff. Their approach to this process wasted a great deal of our time and put us behind in searching for a community for our mother. A good amount of their own time was wasted as well, so it is not clear why they would take this approach. read more

Caring and friendly staff. We have had a relative here since 2013 in The Commons (Independent Living) section of this facility. The staff and team of directors are great. They work with the family in caring for their residents to make sure their needs are met. Clean, friendly environment. If extra care is needed, the residents can age in place, moving to assisted living and then nursing care if needed. We are thankful for the wonderful staff in place at CBV. read more

My aunt came here with a broken shoulder. She is 85 years old. This place came highly recommended and I spoke to the director of administration several times and she was very nice and seemed to give me all the info. Come to find out (once we were there) the "rehab" section is also the nursing home section so rehab patients are mixed in with nursing home residents. In wheel chairs slouched down in the hallways, the smell was awful and most of the nurses - not all - we had some really good ones - were un-attentive and lazy. several times she asked them to take her to the bathroom and they took so long she went in her bed - MORE THAN ONCE. I even contacted the social worker there and nothing changed. I could go on and on about this place being awful. Would not recommend at all. read more

My Mother, Jean, had lived within another facility for 5 years, a place where I thought she would be able to "age in place". However, when it was evident that the quality of the care she received was deteriorating, compromising her safety, I knew that I needed to make the tough decision to facilitate a move elsewhere. Any change in the residence and routine of the elderly is a difficult adjustment, especially in my Mother's case due to her progressing Alzheimer's Disease. Working in the health care industry, I associate with a number of individuals who have extensive experience with care facilities. With no exaggeration: EVERY SINGLE PERSON I spoke to recommended Central Baptist Village. From the moment I walked into the door, through moving day and now, a year later I am confident that I had finally found the place where Mom could live happily and safely. First impressions are pivotal, and the time, patience and compassion shown by Gail streamlined the admission process. During my tour, it was evident that the entire facility was immaculately clean. I was introduced to numerous staff members, both leaders and direct care personnel, all of whom greeted me warmly. I was able to explore the area where Mom would live, and immediately felt that the residents and staff members of the Commons had bonded as a family. Staff turnover throughout Central Baptist Village is minimal, which provides excellent continuity for residents and indicates that the facility is a great place to work. Those in Leadership positions guide their staff by example, with recognition to Jolanta, Amy and Edna who have provided loving guidance to my Mother, and updates regarding any needs or changes in Jean's status to me. Although Mom's adjustment was initially tough, she grew to trust the staff members who treated her with such caring and respect. She is truly and completely happy with her life and the activities that keep her interested and motivated each day. Further of note: during the challenges of COVID, the facility's response has been stellar. Thanks to the attention to detail and adherence to CDC guidelines, my Mother and her peers have remained healthy. They were in full isolation during some important holidays (i.e. Easter, Mothers Day, Fathers Day), however, special celebrations were held that made the holidays festive despite the lack of in-person family interaction. Video visits are provided by appointment, and as I complete this review, an efficient process by which visits can be held outdoors has been established. I am hoping that Mom's Alzheimer's Disease progresses very slowly so that she may remain in her current level of care as long as appropriate. However, I know that should this not be the case, she will receive the support she needs within the 3 levels of Dementia care provided within the Community. Please know: entrusting your loved one to Central Baptist Village will provide peace of mind knowing that they are safe, they are happy, and they are loved. read more

My family and I recently had a heart-breaking experience at Central Baptist Village. My grandmother has always been the epicenter of our and family and I can't say enough about what an amazing woman she is. We only put her in assisted living because she requested it and we were given the false impression that they were a strong memory care facility who specialized in dementia care and that my grandmother would been guided through activities throughout the day to keep her body and mind active. This was the furthest thing from the truth. First of all, they moved her 3 times in 8 months, each time stating that she needed more care then that particular section could give her. Even though we were told that there was dementia trained staff at each level. This is so very DANGEROUS for people with dementia. They need safety and stability and my grandmother started spiraling out of control. Crying all day long. Every time we saw or spoke to her, she was crying and filled with anxiety. This broke our hearts. The last floor she moved to was exactly like Jenn A. described in her review - it smelled like urine, they didn't frequently bathe the residents, they just left the residents like zombies, sitting in wheelchairs, no one interacting and the staff was completely incompetent. One time, a nurse told me that my grandmother's behavior was uncontrollable and that they were going to send her to a mental ward and that she had a skin infection. My family and I were traumatized, only to find out that she was giving me the status of another patient. My grandmother also had a huge bruise on her forehead that no one could explain. I could go on and on... but we were so traumatized and heartbroken, there are just no words. So we pulled my grandmother out of there and now she is at an amazing new place in Park Ridge. She is so happy and feels safe and doesn't cry anymore. Please head this warning and be very careful before you send your loved one to this institution. read more

We just toured Central Baptist Village for our dad who is 86 and moving back to Chicago from Las Vegas. Adriana toured us and she was really helpful and gave us lots of good information. We like that they have all levels of care if my dad should need assisted living or nursing down the road. Very nice retirement community. read more

Stay clear of this place if you're looking to place your loved one in an Assisted Living facility. Everything sounds wonderful in the beginning, and it was. Then it quickly becomes a nightmare! They moved my mother 3 times in 6 months and the last section, the Memory Care section, was like a State funded psycho institution. Residents were not cared for or attended to and the entire section wreaked of urine!! My mother cried every day asking what she did to make me put her in this horrible place! It broke my heart! She no longer had her own room, she was in a hospital bed and the showers were down the hall, community showers, which they said she would get showered at least twice a week. Half of the staff were unaware of which resident was which as my daughter called to check on my mom and the nurse threatened to send her to a mental health facility as she was out of control. Turned out, she was speaking of another resident! All this for $9200.00 a month!!!! read more

My Mom moved into Central Baptist after living with me for ten months, after her stroke. Mom was always very active, walking 3 miles a day, etc. and while living with me after her stroke she was just going from one couch to the other and sleeping all day. I moved her to Central Baptist a few years ago and she is absolutely thriving there. She loves it! She has her own apartment, walks to the gazebo within the grounds and reads, sits by the fireplace in the winter, loves the library filled with her favorite authors and has made so many friends! She enjoys bingo, the exercise classes, art classes and other activities. She's constantly on the go, which is a wonderful thing! She has her independence, yet we know that she is being well cared for. All of the employees know her and take such great care of her...she even made the cover of the brochure - you go Mom! All of the caregivers are wonderful, it feels like a loving family there. I couldn't have found a better place for her. Thank you!!!! Karen (her favorite daughter) read more
